Not sure if I'm in the minority here but I recently got my 80he (PCR case) with L60v2's, I like the out of the box sound profile so I want to preserve that but I was wondering if there was anything I could do to maybe improve it? I like the deeper sound but want to get rid of the bit of the chattery-ness and also the wobble while not a major issue would be nice to get rid of/lessen if possible. Would I have to get new switches?

You can try polyfill instead of case foam, it will make sound cleaner and potentially a bit deeper.

Swapping with different material plate won't help you if you want deeper sound, other plates will make your keyboard louder. PC plate helps achieve that "deep" sound profile.

Tape mod is already there, PET film on the back of your PCB acts as a tape mod.

issues with em:

• quite a bit of friction when initially pressing them, it’s audible too but not sure if you can hear it in this iphone mic sound test.
• some had lube in the pole guide (under the magnet) which causes stickiness. out of the 80 my friend got, 4 were sticky so not many, luckily.
  I find the sound of stock Jade Pros quite a bit cleaner and the decreased wobble for these tradeoffs isn’t really worth it to me.

Alright need some opinions

figuring out current 3 switch recommendation for the stability segment with gateron sparks included (assuming they are good after I test them)

A: Gateron spark, Polar Pro+, Geon raptor v2
or
B: Gateron spark, TTC Helios, Geon raptor v2

can't decide if I keep helios as a traditional pick for it's magnet stability or just have 2 split stems there

right now i'm leaning towards then just removing polar pro and having sparks fill their spot, although the price of them makes me weary of having only sparks as the sole split stem option

I feel like it's better for you to keep the TTC there. Some people might not like the sound of split stem if the spark and solar pro sound equally bad.

also like, if gateron spark is noticably better than polar pro, some people might be okay with spending the money for more stability

yeah true, although i have also heard from sander that he thinks his sparks sound a bit better, so waiting to try them for myself and see how they hold up

hey guys does anybody have experience with the typeplus x yikb stabs? i threw on the bandaid mod that came with the kit, lubed the housing and the stem walls with 205g0, dipped the ends of the wire in dielectric grease, and it sounds wonderful, but the right side of my spacebar still rattles slightly/pings. ive tried different keycaps but all still rattle slightly,
when lubing it, i checked the wire and it was straight.

any ideas what the issue could be?

I don't really suggest dielectric grease for typeplus

just use 205g0 all of them

I'm not sure if the thicker grease causes the rattle but it will be quite sticky since the tolerance of the stabs are small

ahhh okok, ill try relube the stabs and wire for the spacebar with just 205, maybe cuz the spacebar is longer or smth, but do you have any troubleshooting tips for stabs if that doesn't work?

like just ensure wire is straight, re lube stems, stabs and wire, and then is there anything else i could do?

yeah cuz i heard these were really good, and all the other stabilised keys have no issue, even the left side of the of the spacebar sounds perfectly fine, just the right side, ill just try relubing, maybe i accidentally put too little lube or something

when i first started lubing stabs, i always tried to relube because of unbalanced lube..
but at the end of the day i always overlubed the other side

Just got the owlab ti he switches and put them into a new wooting80, sounds unreal with the wuquestudios keycaps, yall think its worth lubing them? not sure if there will be any noticable benefit in feel/sound that makes it worth the effort

the stabs feel v nice too, i was gonna lube them but the stock stabs on the 80 feel nice

But I read that this was happening specially in the earlier versions of the 80HE since the plate had tighter tolerances, someone from the wooting team said once. I think in the newer versions it’s easier but still hard to remove compared to others.
