I got geon raw 40 switches today cuz my 60he and 2he feel a lot heavier. I was watching videos on how to swap switches and now I’m confused. I thought I could just take it out and put another one in but it seems I have to buy lighter springs first?

wdym lighter springs first? you already bought a lighter 40g switch

just take out one switch, install another, it's all hot swap

for easier replacement it is recommended to disassemble the board, so the switches come off easier

but you CAN do it while the board is assembled

Yes, depending on where you got the plate, it should hopefully be wooting compatible and has holes cutout for standoffs and you will also need a standoff kit (countersunk screw kit)

try using a rubber band and place it on top of the stripped screw and unscrew it with your screwdriver

Because the screw wont come off even using the right screw head PH1 . When i try to unscrew the screw and the stab itself wanna turn together . That is why i force it and then it became like this….

I have done with, without foam, with aluminum plate and PC plate

the only thing I have not tried is really the o-ring mod - but dont want to remove the standoffs in the tofu

tried the tempest mod (didnt feel it changed anything)

dont have the brass weight though, have filled that with foam

you can't remove the standoffs actually, because the wooting pcb doesn't have the cut outs for gummy oring mount, when you put a gummy oring on there you are just friction mounting it, it still needs something at the bottom to support it

cotton nor the foam is conductive, other people have done it before with polyfill, so static friction i guess is not a problem. for the foam, that specific one i got was not made for keyboard, but still shouldn't be a issue since the material is not conductive. and i think if it is conductive i be crying already

none of them uses screw i think, maybe the middle one was burger mount but i am not sure.
