Basically when you push down a switch to get it fully pressed you need to push it x millimeters it actuates(like if you press a it will show as a) before its fully pressed now on wooting you can set the actuation to whatever but switches that don't go all the way will be a bit different like instead of 1.2 it will be like 1

a longer stem pole hits the bottom housing
the bottom housing has a point that contacts the pole at a higher point

in this instance, with how hall effect switches are made right now, reduced travel is achieved in part due to closed bottom switches making it so that the stem pole physically smacks down into bottom housing and cant go deeper at a distance pressed lower than 4.0mm

Ok here's the thing, it really doesn't matter if the switch is north or south facing, the only difference the switch will make when it's south facing is when the RGB being dimmer or depending on the color of the switch housings, it will tint the rgb color.

Wooting's LED on their PCB is North facing by default

And what i noticed when i switched the RAW's to South facing, is i noticed a major color tint (which is surprising)

Lubing RAW's are indeed optional, BUT I do recommend taking less is more very seriously if you do lube them. Lubing the main contacts point that goes towards sound like the top housing or bottom housing can dampen tf out of the switch. But it will break in over time. But overall stock RAw's sounds great.
