Yeah, some people do be trying to find a BIG difference iin between the sound tests but once you listen to the specific parts of the board like how loud, pitch, frequency, etc it's noticeable and it really helps with the research and all that

Hey guys, I’m new to building a keyboard but want something really nice. So I’m planning on making an 80 He build with a thocky switch (y’all have said Lekkers v2 as sticky rice don’t work), using the raw case with GMK striker keycaps. Does that seem like a decent build to you guys (the experts)

I asked a while ago about stab hole size with Staebies in their disc and the first thing someone pointed out is that there’s cherry spec, and the 7mm rectangular holes. It’s cool to see that common knowledge somewhere else can be very uncommon here 😂

Honestly based off of the sound test the provide with the 80HE with the lekker v2 is pretty good, looking back at the build specs they provide you with everything you need even with the basic mods. But yeah otherwise like Rappy Snappy Tappy said it should be a great build.

It really depends, Alu can be anything. Everything that’s in the case has an effect.

Not necessarily, just know that plastic cases are easier to use to achieve thock due to their low resonance compared to aluminum. But besides that you can still achieve thock in a aluminum case either way with a series of foam (foam are usually used to change the boards sound acoustic). And for "lower quality aluminum case", usually they would be more pingy and hollow than higher quality aluminum cases like salvation or what not.

Also basic information that you should know abt PBT vs ABS, when comparing higher quality PBT like from drop or what not and higher quality ABS like GMK, the difference you will notice is the sound it gives or the pitch. PBT would usually give out a deeper sound than ABS. So just to say for the basics or for the "newbies" (no disrespect) PBT is easier to achieve thock and ABS is easier to achieve clack in some or most cases.

Once you like go more in depth into the hobby you will understand a bit more on why and how it usually works but for now just stick with this

I tried stem swapping Durock V3s with Panda V3s (💀💀💀) and it worked great. Tolerance improvement, similar to TX APs and SW Knights while fitting Cherry spec.

So you don’t need to spend more than you want to of course.

Update: i finally found the time to switch the springs and get switch opener. I have no problem now with the small stabs/wires, but the space Bar still gets stuck even with lekker v1 when using the tx ap 2023 stabs. I re die the lubing 3 or 4 times i took a new Set of stabs/housing and still it doesn't work. I tired various tricks/Tips. Only thing i didn't do yet is sanding the plate (mainly because i am not an expert and this is my first custom keyboard mod). Anything else i can try?

Comes to show, comparing the Steel plate vs the PC plate does show a difference i say, as usual soft plates does result in a softer sound and maybe feel even with tray mount. If I do press down into the board i do notice a bit a flex but nothing to dramatic.

Sound wise for this config, it does "Thack" High bottom out sound coming from the RAW's but sound acoustic is really low. Impressive
