I've moved out cause that was just for college semester
Mom's house is the only place I stay now
Unfortunately
hm maybe, or dell is just bad in something they added somewhere
.-.
Heck I even had this speed test happen when I was sitting under a tower
You can get this sort of speed using a cat19 or 5g router with high gain antennas angled right
And finally there are places that only have adsl as wired option
I found a new rural internet solution after being frustrated with long Starlink wait times and empty promises.
Waveform antennas: https://amzn.to/3LMz3e9
Outdoor cat 12 router: https://www.outdoorrouter.com/product/cat12-cellular-modem-router-4g-sim-slots/
Very nice cat 20 router:https://amzn.to/3NSNnmX
Apps to use for cellular tower location...
There are places that have no wired option
Even then starlink has a big issue for many
Prices aren’t region based
So in like USA it may make sense
But in some countries the price is not good
There's a 10% chance ill get my deck pre order on Jun 23
Distribution of order dates (All Thursdays assumed to be possible):
(alpha = 1)
Jun 23: 9.7%
Jun 27: 88.9%
Jun 30: 1.4%

but everyone uses this calc
Most of the isp provided ones you mean
All the enterprise ones look like actual equipment like this
forgot for a moment you're just talking about steam deck
500 comments on the order email post, only 2 UK orders
1626460585 - 17:36:25 GMT
is the most latest one i can see
pre order wise
seems to be moving a minute at a week give or take

Still beat Zeus eventually
Oh geez
Us here :(
As of the second
Here's today
i cant auto convert data lad
I'm pretty sure you can convert that 49 hours is a bit above 2 days after release
Yep
Right column is hours minutes seconds of latest confirmed email of each one
or uk just barely had any orders for the 64gb model
Only 64gb
What Quin said
I haven't seen a large amount on reddit
i did see a lot of regrets not getting 64gb tho
also US is HUGE compared to UK
Almost noone got it
I don't understand why people wouldn't buy it and upgrade
It's cheaper...
People like me were to scared prob
I have a 1tb already to be fair but 512gb msd cards cheeeeep
I didn't wanna have a large SD card and very little onboard
Also
I was concerned about system storage speeds
on the 64gb
For some reason though the eMMC chip is faster
so i really do regret
🤷 suppose that's why im one of the few with a 64gb reservation
looks like zen4 will have more than just avx512?
Also I've never seen an emmc nvme module for sale so I wanted it for that too
Avx512 is alooot of things
They probably will have int8 or int16 which isn't part of base avx512
he did drop VNNI
Drop?
drop the word in the talk
oh they say zen5 is coming in 2024, not even leaving room for 2023 rip
smh amd working on all this human dna manipulation, I knew big tech was up to no good
https://en.wikichip.org/wiki/x86/avx512_vnni
There are vnni avx extensions
ohh rdna3 and cdna3 news
ngl I kinda miss the codenames, rdna4/zen5 is just boring xD
Also the fishy codenames used in open source drivers
5c?
yes the followup of 4c
5c is like a mini version for thin and light compute or something?
I didn't even know 4c existed
gpu is dead long live the apu
Great, can't wait to slap an APU in my computor instead of GPU, get more GPU and CPU power what's not to like
Price?
about tree fiddy

After using the most linear keyboard for a while, I wanna now go the most clicky
God ive spent more on switches than actual boards
i still have a hand full of clicky flaretech switches
but unlike nvidia it will have unified memory
Wooting 2 here :/
No clicky option 4 me
And even if there was I probably wouldn't get it because it would probably be clickjacket still
Yea flaretech is no more, very sad
Metal clicks or nothing for me
but in the end we got lekker switches because of it, which changed the scene completely for the better
with how much wooting is growing, it might not be too unreasonable now to see them and gateron work together on clicky HE switches
@BigBrainAFK#0001
Ok so apparently there is a Linux distro that is basically hyper-v server
It's called xcp-ng and to manage it you use this program called xen orchestra
got to see this beauty at infocomm today
Samsung sure loves to show this display off
Ah yes the modular tv
so slightly worse proxmox
the crust
My friend is getting his deck today and conveniently I'm passing his house later
@wheat plume
you're in ireland?
q2 is ending soon.. im q2
I'm q4 ;_;
oof
July is end of Q2 for valve
no its not you filthy liar
Look at the calculators
you mean the guestimators
What's your reservation code?
One is extremely accurate
@ashen spindle wanna hear a funny story?
sure
so the ram that wasnt working together
i got a replacement from our partner and they send the exact same ram sticks as we had OEM
same problem
put all in no dice
as a validated 4x kit or was it 2 2x kits again
2x
but
i suspect maybe the cpu kinda dead
cause we called lenovo and they also only send 2x kits same as already in it
so this is how you officially upgrade it
maybe, but also there is a reason 4x kits exist lmao
oh dont remember, did you test the 2 sticks alone in 2 different slots?
yep
i wiggled the cpu a bit after taking it iut and outting it back in
so far no errors
then I still say 70% because not validated 4x and maybe 30% controller of the cpu sucks
what cpu is it?
idk, its quite normal for budget kits I think
add in that the cpu might have a imc that can just barely handle the min specs
lenovo wants 160bucks for those 2 sticks
lolololo
i dont call that budget
well, quality wise it's nothing special
exactly
wasnt it just 3200 8b sticks
aside from when it doesnt
correct
lets see what passmark says
imma do 2x 4 runs
with a cold boot inbetween and total power removal
geizhals shows 2x8 3200 is as low as 54€ lmfao
exactly
thats basically what we paid with our partner
63 eur or smth
btw they were as confused
basically no one knows whats up
i hope its seriously just a bad cpu connection that caused it
otherwise id have to return the entire thing and wait for a replacement
quin
bad news
lenovo and our partner will be even more confused
cause im out of ideas aswell
lol
but it can go to bios/boot or does it never go that far?
do you have a different system where you can run memtest on
would make it clear if its the ram or cpu/mobo
should've not taken the pc to the toilet with you
ikr
time to send that pos back. and get a working replacement
Must have been the wind... I mean solar flare.

SUN SPOTS
232
and ofc the only other ddr4 system i could test them in have a total of 2 slots
and passmark crashed
or well memtest
meme'd test
Apparently it's much better for enterprise use because one orchestrator can manage a ton of hypervisors
And support is paid per instance of orchestrator
I'm house sitting so my mate doesn't miss his Steam deck 🤣
He has to take his mum to hospital XD
I'd hate myself If I let him lose out on it for another week
Oo..

omegalul
Maybe they'll still deliver it but the last I saw the fucker was around the corner for ages
Staying in one spot
Should have gone over but didn't wanna risk it
Mother fuckers
So annoying XD, I'm mad for my friend, he's gonna come home proper disappointed
no thats a not an octopus
So most of the rat rig stuff arrived today, just missing one box
its a pcb
Yes so long as you use your own privately made distro
that we're just poking fun at linux and it not being an actual question
I guess the reply might've also been sarcasm potentially
yes and yes
10points for griffindor
well yours I knew, just not used to non serious replies from thel so I didnt think about the possibility xD
Can't you remove and replace them?
well its not the speaker, the speaker works on the other side but neither work on the right side
so its gotta be contact or something inside the band
Aw sad
just worked around it by removing both and just using my regular headphones lmfao
but not ideal
but beat saber with sound from one side just omega sucks lol
Does the rift have a headphone jack?
If it does you could try to find our lord and savior mh755
Riperino
The index has a hidden jack in addition to the exact same system for attaching their heapdhones
Pretty sure the rift s has one
And the cv1 kinda had one but it was stupid to use
The wire being capable and you had to diy or something
Mh755s are better than the koss built ins and are lighter
That way you don't need to use full size headphones
oh I could never do in ears
🤷 get rekt rhen
gib deckard
I checked my cv1 and yea no 3.5mm holes
Same
er2
God no

yes
Etymotic er2
thanks I dont want an alien anal probe gun as headphones either
They are very surprisingly comfortable
once you get over the whole sticking it in deep thing
They look like they should feel like someone sticking a spike in your ear but instead they just feel like wearing earplugs with the downside of pulling out your eardrum when you try to remove them
pull on your ear to break the seal, and pull them out slowly. that's what I do
anything that goes deeper than the apple ear pods I dont like
the tuning is very neutral what do you expect
I was just responding to your message that's all
Have you tried foam tips?
I use the xr
It's not the tuning because I spent a while on the eq
I mean idk it might be the tuning
no because I dont want to shove my sennheisers into my brain
You should at least try some foam tip iems
I use the xr too after a bit of a subbass bump they are quite fun imo
Yes but they still don't sound as good as the chu
I think using the regular ear pods for the few times I take the train to go into the city is more than enough, dont really need high quality audio there
I should be getting my chu soon
🤷
Not having to hear everything around you is nice
I'll survive the 15 minute it takes xD
Lucky you with your short commute :/
well, to my work place its just 10 😛 15 is half way through the city 😛
-_-
Next time you consider an audio product, consider iems, if you don't like rubber, foam is very nice
You can get insane amounts of quality for super cheap
only issue with foam tips is they're going to have to be replaced every once in a while
I like spinfit tips personally
foam tips also change the sound a bit
https://sony.encompass.com/item/12808872/Sony/5-025-921-02/
Sony gives me them for free since I bought one of their products
yeah maybe, not like I'm going to get any anytime soon anyway since home office wont end for quite some time anyway
Lucky you
I'm on a rotation now
we have like 3 times more people than office spaces now, just wouldnt work lol
Tbh wfh makes a ton of sense for most office jobs
Yea the sonys use a silicone core and closed cell foam to avoid that
👀
no surprises there
apple card was just the first step
somehow make a premium card and now you get people who'll take worse loan deals just to pay them via apple card rather than using a normal card with better deals lmao
Eve bit the apple then Adam did too
then sheeps bit it
They perform like $300?
Imo all the audio products are beyond overpriced
If you sound worse than a $20 set of iems, you can't be anything but overpriced for $300
But anc itself doesn't help much if your passive nc is bad
There are professional products that have over 35db of passive nc
Which is 10db better than the airpods pro...
Wow what a terrible consumer you are /s
You don't just buy the newest revision of the apple air whatever's on release?
How shameful
I think we are the point probably a few years now, where the newest is barely even better and devices actually last pretty long.
Uh
Definetly not in the audio world
Noone pays any attention to the battery lifetime of their headphones for example
Right, I always found it silly people just jumped to airpods when earpods where a thing
Earpods we're cheap, poor sound quality and not stylish any more
Airpods were expensive poor sound quality and stylish
Now it's not stylish to have the regular ones
Fair point but airpods got easily lost, do not see how charging was any fun but alright
you dont really notice the charging
You ordered 21 of May and they got sent today?
I ordered 24th of April and still nothing
But I have mic version.
nope still not sent yet, at least from what the shop app is telling me
i ordered mine never and wont ever get it
sucks
You should order them
you got it off eBay that's why, I bought mine off of Shenzhen audio
That was the Shenzhen audio eBay store...
If Thanos was in destiny he would be a strike boss. However before you kill him he escapes in a Thanos copter.
Then you would fight him again in the raid, but rather then killing him the guardians deal the final blow by reading out a restraining order from Death herself. This leaves Thanos distraught and crying while the guardians t-pose over him
wrong channel buddy
it even makes your eyes glow
That brand is not a name I'm familiar with
That some company AMD licensed the x86 license to?
Read the article you posted and you would know what it is
Imagine reading more than the headline
That's funny
In order cores that use compiler magic to run out of order
Pretty sure it says nowhere what chipset it runs on and what it's based on
It can run Linux so it must be some sort of x86
well that's mostly because cpus dont run on chipset ?
either way the article does explain what it is
Yeah I need more of a layman's terms explanation
Don't really get how all the in and outs work when it comes to that
it literally says in the article what cores it has so idk how clearer that can get
Hm I liked when you said bo more
That I didn't know
Though wait Snapdragons run Windows
So yeah I suppose they can do that
🅱️ 🅾️
cause there is windows builds for arm
I only like LEGS cpus personally
im more of a head person
Heterogeneous Exascale Accelerators for Data ?
yes
CHUNKY
MORE
3080, 5 slot
would be something worth looking at when next gen comes, good performance but also very easy to maintain, basically just two noctua fans slapped on top of the cooler
so just 3 screws and you can easily fix/clean/maintain the thing
Match made in heaven
Is it normal that if u choose avr at wooting 60he that u can’t choose air freight?
Yes
The 60he is already being shipped out etc
The avr I mean
So it's to late
Any orders will default to cargo ship
k yes i couldnt choose it so
Any takes on: good, low latency, small, microphone? I need a new one
smaller the better, 3.5 mm connection preferably
ngl idk of any good quality 3.5mm mics myself
Desk mounted or headphone mounted?
What are you using it for? Voice chat?
i mean i just use an NT1000 on a rode psa1
didnt really care about small
just quality
yea discord voicechat
I’m from uk and chose air freight for 60he so when am I going to expect it?+ordered arm
september or so, also wrong channel
Sorry
always speculative execution. its been how many bugs now? intel is king in these
hahaha
MANA
GAME THE SYSTEM
ya
Disappointed with the lack of crypto sponsors to be honest
true, need nfts to make it unique
THis has honestly been the worst NoneE3 ever
in terms of whats announced I disagree
in how they do the show idk, dont really care about that part
nomeres times
what
What announcement was good to you?
darktide, silksong, callisto, aliens, stormgate, fort solis, goat simulator, cuphead dlc
nice!
then tere are a few that I dont care about like street fighter but thats a big title for others
How's this tech anyway
Oops
good question
I didn't realise it was the tech channel
but to round it up I htink it feels weird to call it the worst if it's more of a personal preference of other things
definitely had shows were the overall level just was lower, regardless of what sort of games one was looking for
just got my chu today
I don't believe this is 20$
thanks to the mh755s, i wasnt that surprised, but it was nice to see there is a modern alternative
Undervolting is so worth it
Managed to take 13W off of my CPU
and even increase multithreading performance a bit
tiny drop to single threaded
Nice!
man I sure love raspberries that report 100% disk usage without being able to find wtf the problem is
have you tried iotop ?

it is already fucked
need to set it up again
du was sure that some language files one here were 256GB and so on
some file was even 512
why dont u pxe boot ur pis
you probably nede to install it first
?
a
uhh
idk
never bothered to do so lol
don't feel like it is worth it now
only thing that kills them is usually especialyl good SD cards
and I feel like i sussed all of those out by now
iotop isnt installed by default (at least it isnt on my ubuntu)
depends on the application since ud save on sd cards in general
so how should I install it
so if its just a webpage or smth its easier to pxe boot
ig
but I would need to invest time in setting up pxe now
and for now at least it seems like there won't be more coming
What are you running on the pi?
if I had to redo the entire thing again it would be different
they just are attached to monitors in production
and show some images
which distro
and that might be... ? :p
just delete the 256gb files from the 16gb sd card to make room for iotop
entire thing is just giga taped together
based on debian
debian
apt install iotop
as all things should be
I think some essential files were market as such
how should I install soemthing
if I got no space
love how drakonen ignored that part
pretty sure the sd card is just rekt
I also assume so
entire setup is giga cursed
one of them has to show a website and also some other shit
so it just screenshots it with chrome
yeah.. i did apparently...
also have to use rclone
time to save the usefull stuff and nuke the sdcard
nothin useful on there
just don't have a psu rn to set up another one
tmw u dont have a usb-c cable
I have a cable
anyway.. ubuntu dist upgrate is done. rebooting time
nothing to plug it into to supply it with enough power tho
also I think all pi 4s are the cursed pre-update ones
got the dock on that
and back.. lets find out how my dev env is broken
fun
goddamn this laptop's usbc connection
i got this screen with a usbc hub, but its currently not charging my laptop.
oh now it is. the fuck
well the displayport daisy chaining is nice
volta and node were dev borked
and google cloud sdk
full drive day for me today
second device already
got the feeling it writes tiny af logs somewhere
and it is like a trillion of them

found 3 million files already
windirstat crashed
treesize seems to work
but is slow af
4 million files
last million was not even 100MB

still at 12.9GB
fml
am at 5 and a half million
and still no increase
machine server
so prob the server software for that
7.5 million
still at 12.9GB
time to link some dirs to /dev/null
yes
how come they have 3k machines over the world
they all get replace after 2yrs
and their newest software is still this fucking broken
no one notices
na
got some running on the "newest" hardware aka S7-1300 running for like 15 years now
or whenever the 1300 came out
10 million btw
files
requires me to know what fucking folder it is
treesize is not liking it
the GUI is not updating

a
crashed
so I am using it
amazing
found them I think
not enough ram
lol
some rfid reader
that just spammed them
and then deleted them on an update
but their software copied them all
guess I gotta wait
it is a fucking machine software
ofc it isn't cheap
the machines alone costed as much as the building they stand in
no even worse
we got a total of 15(?) machines from them
and from all I know none of them use exactly the same software as the next
they all are on different version
which sometimes behave fundamentally different
and not as sold obv
for the more complex ones
huh
ok only found like 200MB of them
which was 680k logs
it is not revisions
like we built 2 very similar machines on the newer site at the same time
and one of them just got unstable software
and some non-visible stuff in regards of how logins work etc just works different
even though they were built etc at the same time
they know people basically got no options
there is only one alternative
and they are antiquated af
na sector is dying atm
electroplating in germany is already stupidly cheap
Says the guy who seems to be in one every day
as soon as the chinese catch up in quality (so in like 15-20 years) the industry will collapse
it will basically completely die
covid already killed 6 of our direct competitors
it might continue to live in a lower wage country
but not germany
as in some eastern euro country
too much rng involved for guaranteed short turnaround time anyways
well I work in IT
even if hte company goes belly up I can just go to a different sector
- company is trying to widen their market atm
death by users?
wdym
a
well doesn't matter to me
ik how bad the industry is rn already
if we get told by customers that we "actually have to measure each batch (which we do anyways)" because of some regualtor testing
because out customers know some suppliers don't even have the measurement devices needed
then you know the industry is fucked
ignoring it

btw
I think treesize GUI is not updating
I love it
luckily not the boot drive
na I am gonna find out what it is
tell the guy on the phone
and it ain't my problem anymore
Just be the problem
some crucial data
it is just an RFID sensor reporting whatever it scanned
and there is a tag placed right above it
special part about that machine is that it got some swappable baths
but not implemented atm
dunno why that has to get logged tho
Because gotta log everything
Crank that verbosity to the max, better yet don't have such controls!
you could just log a start and end
we already log everything relevant
but in an actual database

only got a few million entries
altho
might be billion by now
which
out database is basically constantly accessed
we keep them all since they are prob gonna be important for a future project
government funding is the best kinda money
for AI bs
got quite a dataset to crunch through
all integrated in a grafana as well
works very well
no problems with speed etc
works well to have a quick look at bath values like temperatures etc
- alerting
what is wrong with either of those
TABS
eh
TABS
IN FILE EXPLORER
FINALLY
I personally don't care if it gets used or not
do you know splunk?
a
well
grafana is Open source web panel
for data logging stuff
for visualizing
quite good
splunk basically does the same
but costs money
the sensors don't log at all
if the machine does some bs at like 3am we need to be able to understand when an error occured
and gets updated basically as often as possible
once a second iirc
didn't do the integration of that
timescaledb is stupid efficient for that tho
Thought this was Firefox for a second due to the tab design
But no
Edge stole Firefox proton UI
how many times did you talk about exactly that in exactly this channel before
This is the first time I've seen it in a youtube video
So it's fully implemented for the public now it seems
Yep
I'm watching a video about the tabs in explorer
They don't work yet ;_;
But the plus button is there
goddamn nvidia optimus. just wasted an hour on super slow performance
bruh
next laptop will not have an nvidia gpu
well looks like zen3+ laptops are finally in stock at some places at least
and the new zen 4 will be out end of this year apparently
news around it was confusing
ces is usually laptop launches for amd and intel unless something big happens after, zen4 will be out for desktops and server this year but not laptops
https://www.tomsguide.com/news/amd-plans-extreme-new-dragon-range-gaming-laptop-cpu-for-2023
seems to agree with that
i wonder what the thunderbolt support would be for that cpu.
well they will ahve usb4, so at minimum whatever is in that spec from it
well, thats what they have on current gen so I would imagine better support on zen4
hey, got almost 2GB loaded into teracopy now
got that recommended since apparently it is a LOT quicker at deleting stuff that windows is on it's own
exactly
literally how i clean my linux servers when i move
i just leave out the shit it doesnt need
copy the rest
boot it
@fair gull see my message about xcp-ng?
I got it up and running yesterday which did require alot of tearing out of hair...
But it is a thin hypervisor with an application to manage it that uses the linux kernel, a hypervisor, and a management interface and that's it
man you know chip shortage isnt over when I try to find a raspberry pie and cant get and lmao
Raspberry pi foundation made the mistake of agreeing to supply agreements to businesses
Whew the us 256gbs are catching up to the 64s
How do you change it so it doesn't show everyone your email?
Says my account can't??
Correct
oh hey first article on this in 2 years, almost forgot about the site haha https://www.realworldtech.com/intel-4/
The Intel 4 process achieves 20% better performance and scales logic density by 2X while reducing costs through extensive design co-optimization, adoption of new materials, and judicious use of EUV lithography. The first product, the Meteor Lake compute tile will ramp to high volume manufacturing in 2023.
I got them today as well.
nice
14 minutes worth of orders went out today for the desk in the UK
So there is a decent chance i get my email Thursday or Wed
A folder in my home folder has more free space than my home folder
I love automounting drives :')
Apparently im 7% of the way to my deck
Will there be a tkl version?
not for a few years at least
The deck ain't a bad little thing. I've got my petty complaints like I'm sure many do.
are they really petty complaints tho
Yeah. I don't like the controller layout or my hands being so far apart. It feels awkward personally.
I might be able to order my deck next week 😮
aight ima have to figure out how to install arch on a laptop bios
the thing is I don't see a option to boot from flash in the bios unless you need it plugged in beforehand
thats how it works yes
oke then
what laptop
acer aspire 5
Ahhh...secure boot. Yeah you have to get into the BIOS and disable that for anything Linux.
(Tries hard to forget Acer laptops that literally won't let you, forcing you to clone drives from other PCs)
i mean u can secureboot linux
.... wat xD
that shim then loads the actual thing
the real shim slady
i thought plain ubuntu also works with secure boot. but dont quote me on that
but of course, first thing you need to disable is secure boot when installing linux :p
@final flame i recommend EndeavorOS or Manjaro.
Both are Arch distris but well made and good to go as oppose to starting from bare minimum like normal Arch.
This is a useful guide that I found that helped me greatly on how to choose a proper Lube, greaser and film without melting all the plastics
Stablizers: ABS (assumption)
Case:ABS
Keycaps: PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate)
Switch: Polyoxymethylene, Polycarbonate, Polyamide + the O-ring (unknown)
why not just buy what is known to work great for the usecase
Cuz why not experiment
in the end you got a big range of viscosities already covered
something thinner than 105g0 would be too liquid
and something thicker than xht-bdz would be too thick for any application inside keyboards
you're correct no doubt. However, I despise the idea that I have to be meticulous not to waste any krytox
Because it costs an arm and a leg XD
does it?
thats what i thought just now
it ends up costing something like half a cent per switch
if u lube an entire board and stabs its cheap or well priced
amtech flux is way more expensive and its meant to just disappear
its like 15eur for 30cc and u basically keep buying it every other day or in bulk
Make sense
Yesterday, I sent an Email to a CNC shop from aliexpress and they quoted me $600 💀

most of that prob shipping
it aint
The reason why it's so expensive is because of the lack economies of scale
if we do a group buy probably $180 per case
Or hear me out, we could grab two aluminum TKL cases and merged them into one through soldering and polishing to make it look it hasn't been violated
what did u wanna get made
I haven't made my own design yet. I sent them a generic full-size model just to get a rough idea before I go full send
also why not local
None in my area that does CNC for average consumer
it mostly industrial and businesses
I tried to use/pay the CNC machine at my college they refused in a heartbeat

next step is to buy a cnc machine
Pretty much
I was thinking what if we retrofit the Wooting into like IBM Model M
and the tolrences I figured it out
@ashen spindle update to the RAM mystery
2 sticks of 16gb ram work flawless
not even stated to be verified for the system
makes sense, quad channel is just heavier on the memory controller in general
well weird that the own kit lenovo sells didnt work
well, non k skus are often the lower class bins so combine that with not confirmed memory config, that just can happen I guess
deffo has to be confirmed cause got another machine with 32gigs preinstalled but without the quadro gpu and it ran the same sticks we bought fine
well its a combo not confirmed by the ram maker, lenovo can test it but they wont know what exactly the ram kits requirements are for the lowest class etc.
oh ya but i checked all sticks again in the second system this morning and swapped the 32gig preinstalled into the problem child
problem child still didnt like 4 sticks
so most deffo cpu issue
yes
how much would a used cnc machine cost..?
including the cost for a most likely seperate circuit, breaker and outlet?
well 3200 is not even officially supported on 4 dims iirc so I guess you just got a cpu that can barely do the minimum and not a lot on 4 sticks
works now so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
found one used build in 1990 made by traub for 27grand excluding shipping
hm thats a lot of keyboard cases to sell :p
just become a well known yt and get one sponsored by tormach
i mean tormach makes a 1100m which can move 45cm on the X-Axis
so u can prob machine it in 1 go or by slightly adjusting and doing 2 cnc paths
11grand brand new base price
thats not too bad
ya i was kinda shocked aswell how relatively cheap they are for hobby machinists
so i configured it a bit and with the options its 30grand for brand new with enclosure and cooling and all
still requires special nema outlet and seperate 20A circuit/breaker
single phase tho
sure its not 3 phase?
thats not nema 6-20r is it
yes but its 20A 240v 50/60hz single phase
straight from the tormach website
ik that most high power requires 3 phase 5 pole plugs usually
but i guess they can somehow run it this way
makes it more accessible for hobbyists tho
230v ac 20 amps is not that much. you almost can run that of a normal wallsocket
ya well they recommend a seperate circuit
still have half an hour
The receptacles are not
The plugs are though
At least outside industrial applications
Lots of wood working stuff ive seen has it
like table saws and bandsaws
also they are common on small minisplits
i have put in a few that at 5a 220v, and use a 6-15
whats crazy is they make non polarized 20a style outlets
that have Ts for both sides
meaning you could plug 220v or 110v items in to them
no idea what they are for
All the 1800w and 2000w psus in the us use them
Servers can just use IEC to IEC though
that isnt true
And if they are that high power, they are usually dc-dc
Dc-dc there are plenty of them in the insano watt ranges
they run c21-c22 direct cables
but also its common to run even low power servers on 220 in the us for efficiency
Sure
And the racks are powered by alot more than 20 amps
so not uncommon to run them with just c12/c13 and a 220v ups/pdu
There isn't higher power outside of the datacenter
or colocation
that isnt true either
i have setup more than a few single racks with 100a service
You won't have 4kw/u outside of the datacenter
gpu compute is becoming more and more common
That requires managed airflow or liquid cooling
You can't just yeet one of those in an edge server closet
so high power density comes with it
no they generally use ducted mini splits to run hot/cold side
Yea
Managed airflow
though a few use the building air with a dedecated feed
its common enough that every vender ive used that makes highpower servers offers a ac and dc psu configuration
Yea aka not yeet in the server closet
only stuff that is DC only comes as a premade unit
the 2000+w psus feel like ingots though
You don't get to call an area with dedicated cooling an edge location
oh I have seen some 2kw+ psus used in a non server environment, but also not in a way I would have used it if I had any input..
it was quite questionable
dosent make it a datacenter though
Yes it does
lets just I now know of an entertainment park in the US where I will make sure to never enter certain attractions lmfao
so if stick a window unit in my office i have a datacenter now?
If your office contains nothing but racks, yes
i never said they only had a rack in them
they where just data closests
or just a room where servers where
none of them were dedicated for computers
lots of them had other machinal or electrical functions
speaking of electical functions, my laptop hates this planes power
If you have managed airflow or liquid, it's datacenter
If not, it's edge
no, there are way more options between and behond edge and datacenter for servers
Edge and datacenter are not server types
They are install types
You can have a datacenter of raspberry pis
...
whats in it has nothing to do with whether a location is a datacenter or not.
you can have a datacenter with zero servers
just switching and routing
or just phone
still datacenters
