halcyon moss
#

that duckduckgo stuff was about the broser they made, and they made this public themselves, and are already working on a fix with MS

astral haven
#

They didn't announce that, nor did they take down the privacy marketing while doing this

#

It was technically possible to find but it was very well hidden

Why would you need a degoogled phone if you can get nearly any phone and install a customOS of it?

might as well ask why not everybody uses arch

btw,lana is using arch

wheat plume
#

btw,that is true

thick elk

Regardless, it's still problematic that these vulnerabilities exist.
Especially in corporate use, where a fishing attack can seem pretty plausible.
It could probably also execute within outlook, not requiring you to save the file at all.

old marlin

Yea it is still problematic and I am atm wrangling with GPOs to prevent them

That sounds really good?

Like just a flat area or is it like a more specialised desk

junior ore

i recommend one with a higher monitor position on the back, depending on your preference

and an L Desk

cursive summit

Just get a display mount

true quest

L shape and sturdy for monitor mount

junior ore

well mounting is extra equipment 😛

cursive summit

L shape literally only fits in corners

that's not true

cursive summit

L shape barely fits not in the corner

junior ore

aye, mounting the monitors are nice

i think that's just your perspectives.

cursive summit

I mean, I like my desk flush to the wall

true quest
junior ore

the highest functional aspect of an L desk is providing space that surrounds you. Less needing to reach over or move your chair.

I don't have space to put it in the middle of the room lul

L desk is great, I'll give you that

junior ore

i need an L desk honestly

as in : a gun

cursive summit

That's... what I meant

#

Also it's 5-7

#

Five seveN

#

Cause FN

junior ore
#

lol

#

honestly a super weird and prob not the best choice in home defense

true quest
#

or would a pump be more effective

junior ore
#

cool as the gun is and as cool as it performs : also too expensive for range shooting

wet canopy
#

punch a hole right through the drywall even

cursive summit
#

Ngl can't wait to turn 23, get a gun license, and get a H&K USP

junior ore
#

for home defense a shotgun is almost always a great option. depending on the enviornment

cursive summit
#

USP will always be the sexiest sidearm

junior ore
#

isn't that absurdly expensive?

cursive summit
#

Not really

wet canopy
junior ore
#

oh i was thinking a different gun, my bad

true quest
wet canopy
#

pistols are a lot better when you have practice

#

but you do need that practice

junior ore
#

a shotgun isn't going to weigh a stupid amount.

wet canopy
#

also price, what you can afford will put you in a spot

true quest
#

just don't want to be that glock guy ya know

junior ore
#

def get a Canik then

#

one fo the newer ones like the METE SFX

#

trigger pull is very light and so far no issue except for this one brand i tried with, but it was a shitty cheap brand of ammo anyways.

#

don't buy shitty cheap ammo @_@

#

but yeah for home defense, a short shotgun that holds the legally maximum amount will do you wonders. Mine holds 8 rounds, but the barrel size could make it awkward at the stairs.

wet canopy
#

yeah that's really the only thing, it's a long stick so places that are tight might be the only thing

#

it's a broom basically

junior ore
#

also versatile rounds. and can get rounds that wont puncture your walls and hit innocents behind them.

#

and

wet canopy
#

get the kyle rounds

#

punches all the holes

true quest

shred them with HP mm

junior ore

aint no fuck is gonna to hear the mechanism of a pump shotgun and go "yeah I can take that to the face"

wet canopy
#

slug em

cursive summit
junior ore
#

no don't use slugs

wet canopy
#

slugs are horrible

cursive summit
#

It's good, reliable, affordable

junior ore
#

also yeah GLOCK is very valid

wet canopy
#

just damage your house

cursive summit
#

Glocks are literally the Apple of guns

wet canopy
#

and you have to be accurate

junior ore
#

well no

true quest
#

i don't use apple 😎

junior ore
#

FN is the Apple of Guns.

#

overly priced

#

and the ammo/service is stupidly over priced too

cursive summit
#

Does FN have that massive of market share in sidearms?

junior ore
#

and you get THE ONE propriertary round type : armor pierce

cursive summit
#

Glock I'd say is incredibly popular

wet canopy
#

android

junior ore
#

FNs are fantastic guns but they are stupidly pricey

wet canopy
#

FN is definitely like apple with the ammo

junior ore
#

about a dollar a round

#

the recoil will be super smooth and the stupid fast round will be pleasing to shoot.

#

but you are shooting a lot of cash

#

and it's poor for self defense

cursive summit
#

Man here I wish Glock 19 or 17 would have a legal coversion kit to 18

junior ore
#

cause you'll just over penetrate doing less damage

cursive summit
#

18 is so cool

wet canopy
#

I figure ammunition is an investment anyway since it probably will keep appreciating in value

#

or at least inflation will speed it up some

junior ore
#

it's expensive because it's proprietary : only one person is making it

#

FN

#

but, hey

#

P90s are badass

#

#worthit

cursive summit
#

And a shit ton of wasted polymer

#

For a 6.5mm cartridge

wet canopy
#

I like way it works though

junior ore
#

literally spending 50 dollars to shoot a whole mag

wet canopy
#

the rounds do a lil spin to line up with the chamber

cursive summit
#

Why not just get a G36 with clear mags

junior ore
#

where are you getting 6.5mm from?

cursive summit
#

The ones with a side window

#

Doesn't P90 feed with 6.5s

junior ore
#

no

#

it feeds with the same 5.7x28 ammo as FN pistols

cursive summit
#

Ah yeah

#

There is a 6.5mm version so I've got that one stuck in my head

junior ore
#

what the heck is 6.5 thats one I don't know

cursive summit
#

Well 6.5 is, in one way, the new 5.56 mm

junior ore
#

sounds incompatible lol

cursive summit
#

The new SIG Spear iirc uses 6.5

#

That's the new standard issue calibre for U.S army iirc

#

Well wrong again I am

#

It's 6.8mm

junior ore
#

could have sworn it was still the 9mm unless they changed with a new trial

#

oh i see, yeah thats new

junior ore
#

supports 7.62, 6.5, and 6.8

#

the GPU is a little warm

#

might wanna amp up the fans

cursive summit
#

We'll see how U.S will deal with the adoption of a new calibre

#

5.56 being kind of phased out off military service

junior ore
#

based on history : US prefered rounds tey had in spades lol

#
XM5

The XM5 is the U.S. Army variant of the SIG MCX Spear, a 6.8×51mm (.277 in), gas-operated, magazine-fed, assault rifle designed by SIG Sauer for the Next Generation Squad Weapon Program in 2022 to replace the M4 carbine. The XM5 features a free-floating reinforced M-LOK handguard for direct accessory attachment onto the "negative space" (hollow ...

ashen spindle
#

toasty he says as he posts normal temps

wet canopy
#

yeah low 70s is fine imo

junior ore
#

honestly above 80 is a sign of needing better thermals. The danger zone is <90

wet canopy
#

gpu memory is hot tho

ashen spindle

memory also can take more though

junior ore

aye but if you want a logner life span : don't push the temps

reef patrol

79c on a CPU ain't normal 😄

wet canopy
#

I straight up undervolt in the summer to keep from cooking in my own juices

junior ore
#

workable temp but yeah def better to have lower temps. I recommend some cleaning.

ashen spindle
#

depends on what cooler, load etc.

wet canopy
#

I cleaned my pc case out a month ago and it dropped my temps A LOT

#

also discovered I somehow plugged one of my case fans into the sys_pump header

#

so the entire time the pc was built one of my case fans was static 70%

#

and I never noticed

reef patrol
ashen spindle
#

ehhh, with how the chiplets are spreading heat on zen3 that can be not too unusual

reef patrol
#

I disagree. Peaks? Sure. But not consistent loads in a game.

ashen spindle
#

I mean, its just one picture, idk if thats consistent or just a snapshot he took

mild dome
#

I got an Ice gaint cooler to keep my cpu cool

junior ore
#

it depends on the individual hardware honestly

#

like. The kind of video cards I tend to get coincidentally always ending up running way too damn hot all the time. but that's because the first one was more or less a released prototype that was a heavy hitter but sucked ass firmware wise, and temperature-wise. Then my replacement for that in an RMA : a newer and same performance card but the design of the cooler assembly sucks ass so it gets a little toasty. So I was more or less forced to invest into a computer case that heavily benefited video cards venting air up. now temperatures are good.

#

I don't have the best idle temperatures but I'm not cooking 80+ during load

astral haven
#

unless you use a custom loop or are simply not using your cpu, zen 2 or 3 and rocketlake and later msdt are physically incapable of dissipating the heat quickly enough to even be that low temperature

#

heck
Im using a pretty solid custom loop, and temps still hit 80 at full load

astral haven
#

but zen 1 has crappy sensors super far away from the hot bits

new channels

halcyon moss

someone didnt follow the stream

crimson wigeon
#

Oh good more channels to hide

fair gull
#

gaming being more important than general channels or support

halcyon moss
#

yup.. that is strange

junior ore
#

also some publisher studios are just outright disgusting to support. Like Activision/Blizzard and EA.

#

and, in the end : you aren't doing any harm. someone that would download a game is the same type of person that wasn't going to buy it, aka, still not a sale. but it would massively increase the chances of them to later on buy it because they actually got to playa nd try it and not be scammed based on hype or expectations or it being a bad game that can't be refunded.

ashen spindle
#

you know you could also just like, play something else instead

junior ore
#

and it'd be a different game

#

not the specific one that you want to play

#

if you download it and like it and like the devs : buy it if you can afford it. or when you can afford it.

#

it's like the case I had with Rimworld. i didn't have the money at the time and didn't know if it was going to be dwarf-fortress-like #35 or if it had enough of its own flair and such.
So i downloaded it, liked it, and then next month bought it once i had enough spending cash.

ashen spindle
#

or if you want it and can afford it buy it, steam has a refund period, you can watch videos, reviews etc.

junior ore
#

the only morally wrong aspect is if you are DISTRIBUTING, which is what piracy is.

#

except

#

back then steam didn't have the refund until Australia took them to court and they lost.

#

and even then : two hours is not enough time for games like Rimworld or other EXTREMELY long winded games

ashen spindle
#

ok but why are we arguing about the past

junior ore
#

ALSO

#

that still requires having the cash

#

and 90% of modern games don't do demos anymore

ashen spindle
#

yes if you cant afford it I personally don't care, I just have an issue if you can afford it

junior ore
#

i don't see why that would be an issue anyways. it's not distribution.

ashen spindle
#

because I find it pretty weird to be entitled to have something without paying for it if you can afford it just because you dont like EA or whoever makes it

junior ore
#

I don't think it's entitlement?

#

it's not demanding to have the game or forcing it from someone

ashen spindle
#

I just cant see a valid reason for it if you can afford it

junior ore
#

i already listed them.

#

for instance : trying out something before purchasing something usually permanent is perfectly valid

ashen spindle
#

you can refund, so that is no longer valid

astral haven
junior ore
#

piracy is distributing

#

i don't support distribution

#

also, i just outlined that you can't refund these things typically.

astral haven
#

Ok
Privateering

junior ore
#

that's. the same thing :V

astral haven
junior ore
#

this isn't "privateering" either

astral haven
#

Yes it is

junior ore
#

well good for you that you can judge a game under an hour

pale sigil
#

Wot

astral haven
#

An hour?

junior ore
#

there's a time limit to refunds.

#

on Steam anyways

ashen spindle
#

yes and its 2 hours

astral haven
#

Steam gives you two hours and my credit card company allows 14...

junior ore
#

and some games stretch out tutorials and starting areas very long. or the main issues behidn them don't crop up until laters.

#

i'm saying is it has issues.

astral haven
#

2 hours of launched game
Not including downloading

junior ore
#

i am aware

ashen spindle
#

so you want to be able to play most of the game and then decide you dont want to pay for it?

junior ore
#

if I don't liek the game I wouldn't be playing it very long.

pale sigil
#

It's a weird argument both sides

junior ore
#

do you drive your car before buying it?

astral haven
#

Yes

junior ore
#

Do you inspect pets before owning them?

pale sigil
#

Yes

astral haven
pale sigil
#

Deoends

junior ore
#

and?

#

also not really

astral haven
#

That is the contract

junior ore
#

okay?

#

i don't get your point

pale sigil
#

If it's a rescue pet I make sure it has had irs injections etc

junior ore
#

sure but you don't have those options for games

astral haven
#

You must provide your driver's license and insurance before you are allowed to test drive the car

junior ore
#

all you can have are videos of lets plays. but thats not the same as experiencing

astral haven
ashen spindle
#

yes you have, you have 2 hours of a test drive

junior ore
#

after purchase

#

and assuming you can judge the game in that timespan properly.

pale sigil
#

In my eyes someone who pirates had no intent paying in the first place but are still a potential buyer

true quest
junior ore
#

i gaurentee you you wouldn't be able to judge games like Dwarf Fortress within 2 hours

pale sigil
#

Last game I bought I did that tbh 😅but I rarely pirate

junior ore
#

or RPG games

ashen spindle
#

because dwarf fortress is definitely representative of most games...

junior ore
astral haven
junior ore
#

maybe you and thats good for you.

ashen spindle
#

its not a great example if it doesnt hold up for most cases

pale sigil
#

Oh don't be one of those peeps

junior ore
#

not everyone can.

astral haven
pale sigil
#

Piracy is piracy

#

No reason to get technical

#

No one's prosecuting XD

junior ore
#

no it's rather important to declare definitions and terms.

true quest
#

so privateering if it's free

astral haven
#

If you download with a torrent client, it is piracy

pale sigil
#

If you wanna be specific you are pirating while downloading

#

As you cant not upload and distribute

astral haven
pale sigil
#

That's just not how torrenting works and capping upload to 0 work work

astral haven
#

Tldr not a valid defence in court

junior ore
#

downloading something is different then selling bootlegs or giving everyone free copies. you cannot equate the two. fi you can't understand the differences then i'm not continuing this conversation. I'mma head back to work.

#

test

#

connection screwed up

astral haven
#

Just pay for the game and refund

#

That option has been provided to you

ashen spindle
#

sounds like me the definition means its piracy even if you dont distribute

junior ore
#

anyways : i'm not continuing the dishonesty here. Insinuating the only method of downloading something is torrenting.

astral haven
pale sigil
#

I mean if you're using file servers over p2p then ye you're not distributing at least 02Shrug

#

p2p torrents aren't piracy

astral haven
#

Both piracy and privateering are illegal and unethical

pale sigil
#

The protocol is just used for it

astral haven
#

Yep

pale sigil
#

You just said torrenting is piracy :p

junior ore
astral haven
#

Misformed sentence oops

ashen spindle
#

idk it was kinda clear it was meant only in context of paid content if you read the second part of what he wrote

astral haven
#

Should have said "acquiring paid content through torrents is piracy, all other forms are privateering"

pale sigil
#

I mean using the protocol for unethical things is bad :p

pale sigil
#

Personally I don't care 02Shrug

astral haven
pale sigil
#

I just like seeing denuvo being ruined s

junior ore
#

"Using a tool for unethical means is unethical, revelation!"

true quest
#

the "ethical" is highly subjective

cursive summit
junior ore
#

denuvo is very bad

astral haven
junior ore
#

no one wants their computer root kit for a game

pale sigil
#

Life is unethical

astral haven
true quest

astral haven

Oops missed reply

ashen spindle

so buy another game that doesnt have a "root kit"

Why are you all people at arms when it comes to this shit

I'll just silently download my free shit while you peeps are here arguing for no reason lul

pale sigil

Why does if matter tbh

junior ore
#

it doesn't matter

but some people want to, idunno, white knight their games?

ashen spindle
cursive summit
#

That seemed a bit heated for a conversation

pale sigil
#

People do stuff, whether you agree or not doesn't effect anyone else but yourself :p

Nah let others do the dirty work :p

astral haven
cursive summit
#

EMPRESS been doing pretty well lately

#

Getting paid handsome sums to crack shit

ashen spindle
#

im just disagreeing with that part is all, if you dont want to give them money dont buy it and get something else

pale sigil
#

Empress annoy me

cursive summit
#

Prolly the first cracker to actually make a living out of cracking

pale sigil
#

She cracks for money not sport

#

I miss scene races

cursive summit
#

And I for once actually thank god for that

#

Scene people disappear and reappear

#

If someone's money motivated at least they won't fuck off randomly

junior ore
ashen spindle
#

yes and that means dont crack the game

cursive summit
#

Where tf is CPY?

pale sigil
#

Well don't make stupid mistakes like that guy who told everyone his country and didn't use a vpn

junior ore
#

inserting someone's crack.exe isn't cracking a game

cursive summit
#

CPY was gone for 2 years, released like a few games, and fucked off ever since

junior ore
#

the people that actually crack the stuff, the crack teams, are the ones doing the cracking.

cursive summit
#

EMPRESS literally the only cracker for denuvo that we have for a few years now

pale sigil
#

Because all scenes lost their best members

junior ore
#

i don't know enough software engineering and encoding/decoding to crack a game.

ashen spindle
#

"I dont want to support them so I want to use other means to get it for free " is just peak entitlement to me ¯_(ツ)_/¯

cursive summit
#

At least EMPRESS is actually making a living out of it

pale sigil
#

Because she isn't stupid

cursive summit
#

So we can hope that EMPRESS whoever they are won't just ditch the scene

pale sigil
#

Nah I don't like empress

cursive summit
#

Actually the thing with EMPRESS is

junior ore
cursive summit
#

They got into legal trouble before they got notorious

#

And they were acquitted or some shit?

junior ore
#

it also helps I actually have a stable job now too

pale sigil
#

She's weird and pett and only crack's for money

cursive summit
#

So wherever EMPRESS resides, cracking shit there is, apparently, legal

ashen spindle
#

still doesnt change the legal point if you do it, you are well aware its not the intended way and thus are knowingly breaking ToS, regardless of how much you dislike them

cursive summit
#

Prolly Somalia or some shit

pale sigil
#

No honor in that :l

junior ore
#

the heck is EMPRESS?

pale sigil
#

The only denuvo cracker atm

cursive summit
junior ore
pale sigil
#

Most courts won't see it this way

cursive summit
junior ore
#

again : cite me the case of just the download

cursive summit
#

We need a scene

#

And empress is our scene

pale sigil
#

No lol

cursive summit
#

Nobody else does it at least that money hungry bitch with their philosophical ramblings is there

true quest
junior ore
#

also Denuvo also horribly bogs your machine down and ruins the game aspect, good game or not. it hampered Assassin Creed really badly to the point legit owners HAD to crack the game to turn Denuvo off, for a single player game.

cursive summit
junior ore
#

also lets not forget Abandonware

pale sigil
ashen spindle
#

I dont really care to walk around your technicality when it's quite obvious what is mean, and it's just not followed because its not worth to go after anyone besides the people who share it

junior ore
#

there comes a point where a game isn't sold anymore but still exists.

pale sigil
#

Fighting each other to crack first etc

junior ore
true quest
#

now lets get deeper

pale sigil
true quest
#

do you pay for the cracked version of a game

junior ore
#

hell no

pale sigil
junior ore
#

it wouldn't be able to go to the devs

#

or the owner

ashen spindle
#

yes words matter but people can know what other people mean without it being perfectly described

cursive summit
#

You pay for a cracker to crack a game in order for the game to become free for everyone

#

I call that crowdfunding mm

pale sigil
#

It's a big thing to buy cracked games on disc in markets

junior ore
#

right but if the context is legality : words are very strict and not loose.

cursive summit
#

It's not just software

ashen spindle
#

we're not in a court setting though

pale sigil
#

Kickstarter for the anti denuvo force

cursive summit
#

What about nintendo modchips?

junior ore
true quest
#

now what if the cracker offers the cracked software, you dislike the price, and somehow steal it

pale sigil
#

I'll be honest though... My 8 games on PS4 I didn't buy aPES_TripleEyes

junior ore
# cursive summit What about nintendo modchips?

USA has a rights to repair law for citizens and consumers of products. If we buy something, we own it. We are allowed t repair it or change it and such. Modifying hardware is perfectly legal.

#

even if John Deer or Apple says you don't have these rights

true quest
#

i can already see the am i the asshole posts in reddit lel

pale sigil
#

Wait

cursive summit
#

And it would never be that way unless you modchip it

pale sigil
#

Since when do you have right to repair

#

This is starting to become far fetched

cursive summit
junior ore
#

closest law for that is whatever they decided for stealing cable.

#

but the cables are properties so

pale sigil
junior ore
#

it'd destruction of property

junior ore
#

now if you were RENTING the hardware

#

renting the hardware is different

#

cause you didn't own it.

cursive summit
#

I mean is Rossmann committing piracy by buying shit from factories that is intellectual property of Apple and without their permission applying it to his repair service?

astral haven
#

Yes

cursive summit
#

Didn't hear Apple sue him for it even though he literally admitted on camera for it

pale sigil
#

Another man's trash is another man's treasure

junior ore
astral haven
#

They only go after big companies, who don't use stolen boardviews

pale sigil
#

I see warranty

#

And right to repair cars

junior ore
#

yeah there's deeper paperwork to read into

astral haven
junior ore
#

Electronics right to repair is proposed legislation that would provide the practical means for electronics equipment owners to repair their devices. Repair is legal under copyright law and patent law. However, owners and independent technicians are often unable to make their own repairs because of manufacturer limitations on access to repair mat...

astral haven
junior ore
#

where do you see only proposals?

#

cause i'm seeing multiple events

astral haven
#

Literally in the articles you linked?

#

The only industry that has right to repair is the car industry

junior ore
#

you mean these aren't set and stone?

astral haven
#

There is nothing for consumer goods

junior ore
#

cause i see words like "implementation"

#

wha

#

cars

#

phones

#

these things are consumer products

#

consumer goods

#

the hell are you talking about?

astral haven
#

Phones do not have any right to repair legislation

cursive summit
astral haven
#

Which does not guarantee the right to repair your device...

cursive summit
#

That one's interesting

astral haven
#

And that's not a law
It's a supreme court ruling

junior ore
#

except the case in 2008 and then followed by the stance in 2012....

astral haven
#

Find the law then

junior ore
#

i showed them to you 😛

cursive summit
#

Just rulings

#

For individual cases

#

Can you use that ruling in case that happens again to justify your case with it? Yes

#

Is it a law? Ehh, not really

astral haven
#

Do the device manufacturers need to do ANYTHING AT ALL about these?
No

junior ore
#

usually rulings in past cases are used in furture cases. it's typically always been that way.

#

its called Setting Precedence if i recall correctly.

#

if I am wrong then I made a mistake but am pretty sure thats a thing

ashen spindle
#

rulings can cause a law to be changed or made, but they are not a law by themselves

astral haven
#

Yes
So I sue apple because the battery of my phone died and there is no replacement part purchase able from them
What law do I cite?

cursive summit
#

There is a fair number of right to repair bills that passed the senate and are in effect

junior ore
ashen spindle
#

also precedents arent a guarantee the next court would get to the same result

junior ore
astral haven
#

...
So I am not guaranteed the right to repair my device

junior ore
astral haven
#

I am just not disallowed from it

junior ore
#

you are conflating two different things

ashen spindle
#

yes but those could also over rule to favor the other party just as likely

junior ore
#

if a part doesn;t exist it doesn't exist.

astral haven
#

Right to repair requires that the parts be purchaseable

junior ore
#

no it doesn't

astral haven
#

All the auto laws require it

junior ore
#

it means you are allowed legally to repair something

astral haven
#

No

junior ore
#

yes

cursive summit
junior ore
astral haven
#

If you own something you are allowed to do whatever you want with it

junior ore
#

again

#

The LEGAL RIGHT to repair somethings is not the same as THE ABILITY to repair something

junior ore
astral haven
#

If you are guaranteed the right to repair, it is required that the parts be purchaseable that are nescessary for the repairs

junior ore
#

no it is not

#

i don't understand how you come to that conlcusion

#

i outlined the differences

#

ABILITY and LEGAL RIGHT

astral haven
junior ore
#

you.. are not able to tell the differnece?

#

you do own a tractor if you bought it.

astral haven
#

And you don't own the software on the apple device which is what apple has successfully sued using

junior ore
#

you do if you buy it, actually

astral haven
junior ore
#

digital media ownership was settled in the 70s

astral haven
junior ore
#

and they have money to scare people

astral haven
#

And you are required to agree to the license agreement to use the device

junior ore
#

Terms of Services are not legal binding.

astral haven
#

More specifically the software on the device

junior ore
#

nor do they over rule laws

cursive summit
#

Extracts the files from the installer and manually puts them into their places bypassing the ToS

cursive summit
#

Imagine using apple

#

🤢

junior ore
#

apple is more anal tight than nintendo. it's why i don't buy their phones.

astral haven
#

Just because you don't buy the devices doesn't mean that you are magically allowed to ignore their license agreement if you do eventually buy one...

junior ore
#

that absolutely made no sense.

astral haven
#

Now you may be able to fight the license agreement in court

junior ore
#

license agreements/terms of services are not legal binding.

astral haven
#

And successfully
However contract law is very straightforward

#

They are legally binding

junior ore
#

although, if it was like. an actual contract then its different

#

ToS are not.

astral haven
#

It is

junior ore
#

Terms Of Services cannot legally be enforced if they take away someone's rights, like for repairs.

astral haven
#

Again there is legal precedent for overturning them
But they are legally binding

astral haven
junior ore
#

i'm not talking about contracts of RENTING farm equipment or such

astral haven
#

On phones

junior ore
#

okay well

#

lets agree to disagree because we aren't goign to get anywhere with that

#

different topic?

astral haven
junior ore
#

only in terms that they can remove you from said license agreement by their own rules and whims.

#

but if you BOUGHT the tractor, they can't tow it away

#

and they can't do anything if you bypass said software with your own.

astral haven
#

Sure but they can make it inoperable which is the actual problem

junior ore
#

and thats where modding comes in 😄

astral haven
junior ore
#

then we need to get the guys behind game cracks to work on that.

#

cause what do you think happens when they end-of-life the service for said traktors?

#

or if the buisness goes down?

astral haven
#

Wow
It's almost as if it should be illegal to do that...

junior ore
#

now say that to your house door that remains locked until you access a foreign server

#

and see how logn it takes for you to crack it when the servers are gone.

astral haven
#

The problem is so far it is legal for Deere to do this bs so that's why we need laws

junior ore
#

they found a loophole, yes.

#

and yes we do need stronger Right to repair laws.

#

we agree on those.

cursive summit
#

Can you children go back to talking about funky tech stuff now

astral haven
#

Again tho
There is no law that guarantees that it be possible to repair the device

#

Regardless of ability

cursive summit
#

AHAHAAHA

#

#

First thing I see when I open social media

astral haven
#

Still not passed :/

cursive summit
#

Wasn't Louis R. in NY originally before he moved?

junior ore
#

so I technicallycorrect so i'll take my internet cookie. X3

junior ore
#

this says passes, how is it not passed?

ashen spindle
junior ore
#

yeah it passed but it needs a year

cursive summit
#

Well soon to be in effect then, progress at last

ashen spindle
#

and they had similar cases in the past that ended up as not laws after all

astral haven
#

The governor hasn't signed it

ashen spindle
#

so its not without precedent that it could still fail

astral haven
junior ore
#

unless lobbyism is done by apple and john deer, it probably maybe will get passed fully.

#

but of course it's legal for millions of dollars to suddenly appear in their bank account and he says no 🙂

ashen spindle
#

maybe, but I remember rossman citing at least 3 times a proposal made it that far, usually before a long break and after the break they suddenly decided to not put it into law after all

#

so lobby money can still stop this

#

I hope it doesn't but it could

junior ore
#

fingers crossed

#

also screw politics

#

it's depressing and sad

#

wheres me tech stuff

ashen spindle
junior ore
#

that looks way longer than the average

cursive summit
#

Intel will release their own cases just to fit that massive schlong?

crimson wigeon
#

Quick someone steal it and run benchmarks

ashen spindle
#

idk those fans look pretty normal size

cursive summit
#

Perspective looks shit

junior ore
#

also i have my doubts about intel being a serious competitor in the gaming GPU market. They've made APUs yes but they've typically always sucked because they don't bother with things like OpenGL and other important bits :V

cursive summit
#

They won't be anytime soon

#

Best case scenario they help with availability

#

Assuming anybody even wants their cards

#

I imagine their shit will crash constantly

#

Can't expect them to have good drivers

junior ore
#

look at the height ( on it's side) and you can get an estimate of the size fo it. it's going to fit the slit on the backside of conventional comptuer cases so that's a set height.

#

using that as reference : it's long as fuck

cursive summit
#

Assuming the thing's the top SKU with 16 gigs of G6, that's about what I would expect for a card that rivals a 3070

junior ore
#

it's probably the same length as mine if not a tad longer. mine has too much excessive annoying plastic.

cursive summit
#

Alright fuck off

#

"prices drop"

junior ore
#

it is a drop. in the sense of returning closer towards normal. NFT crashing so they aren't buyign as much GPU

cursive summit
#

Still can't get a 6800XT for a normal price

#

Cheapest ass model

junior ore
#

you can go to bestbuy and find market retail prices

astral haven
junior ore
#

whats the conversion to euro?

cursive summit
#

I CAN GET A DAMN 6900XT FOR SAME PRICE

ashen spindle
#

check amds store, they literally have cards in stock at msrp right now...

cursive summit
#

Hell's with the 6800 availability

junior ore
#

double?! hell naw thats 3 or 4 times

cursive summit
#

AMD doesn't have an EU store though

#

There's a GB one

ashen spindle
#

yes they do...

cursive summit
#

Que?

junior ore
#

that doesn't make sense?

#

why would specifically avoid a LARGE market

crimson wigeon
junior ore
#

they have a euro market

#

hot damn look at that. normal pricing

crimson wigeon
#

But I only see the xx50 cards bruh

cursive summit
#

Anybody have a link for a proper EU store?

junior ore
#

i'm thinking of waiting for the next generation coming out this year though. a more bigger jump from the 5700XT III

ashen spindle
#

he just linked the eu store...

cursive summit
#

AMD keeps redirecting to an U.S store

junior ore
#

for their Direct yeah

#

but you can find other distributors

cursive summit
#

That sell 6800XT at 300 euros over MSRP

junior ore
ashen spindle
#

idk what you are talking about I can buy this and its an eu shop

junior ore
#

300 over is still an improvement over 1000. it'll get better over time.

#

6750 for 600? thats not a bad price.

ashen spindle
#

its msrp

#

its from amd directly

#

6800xt are also coming now, not quite there yet

crimson wigeon
#

But does the add to cart button work for you it doesn't for me pepelaugh

junior ore
#

are you using a VPN or something?

ashen spindle
#

I bought a 5800x3d for a friend recently so I can confirm it works

junior ore
#

try exiting the website and googling back into it

astral haven
junior ore
#

the link provided was specifically a US one

crimson wigeon
#

No my link should redirect you to the proper one for yer country

astral haven
#

Perspective is super messed up
It's ultra wide squeezed + at an angle

crimson wigeon
#

If it don't then your country isn't worthy

cursive summit
#

AMD literally redirects from EUR store to USD if you click on "amd.com availability"

junior ore
#

the angle is consistent though

#

and thankfulyl these are hard edges lol

#

lets draw some lines then

cursive summit
#

I'm guessing they don't ship themselves within Europe

#

Only through partners

ashen spindle
#

I kind doubt that based on the amount of people I saw getting cards with their bots from that site...

junior ore
#

I just realized i forgot i don't have graphic editing software on ym laptop yet and forgot to install them

ashen spindle
#

also yes I can add it to my card and could buy it rn

astral haven
#

Its really dang close

junior ore
#

i recommend waiting to buy a video card until the new ones come out

astral haven
#

^^^^^

crimson wigeon
#

Yeah it worked in incognito guess some of my extensions make it act up pepelaugh

ashen spindle
#

oh absolutely, was just to show the amd store has eu options

cursive summit
junior ore
astral haven
#

Unless you get a 1080ti for 150 lol
Evga is having some insane sales

cursive summit
#

Yeah I dunno why the AMD store keeps redirecting me to the americas

junior ore
#

👍

cursive summit
#

Isn't the RTX 4090 releasing this July?

#

So in a month?

astral haven
cursive summit
#

A bit too close for me to shell out a grand on a 6900

astral haven
#

Yup

ashen spindle
#

gotta save your money for your electricity bill

cursive summit
#

Kind of hard to imagine that next gen actually launches in a month

junior ore
crimson wigeon
#

And me too also waiting for next gen now.. just gotta hold out a bit longer...

ashen spindle
#

but not july, august is the latest date someone mentioned

astral haven
junior ore
#

it still looks 3-4 times longer than it is taller.

astral haven
#

Sure
It's a short card

cursive summit
junior ore
#

the IO shield is what gives you the length

astral haven
#

What

junior ore
#

because it has a set height

#

it's all standardized

#

if oyu know the height, which is the size of the standard measurement to fit in a normal CU case : you know the length

#

roughly*

#

by stacking the height length along the card

ashen spindle
#

yes but that info from kopite was a bit older

astral haven
cursive summit
#

Well we have the announcement for the announcement for the launch on June 9 I'm guessing lul

junior ore
#

also i said fuckit and googled it : it's 396mm. which is longer than other flagships

ashen spindle
#

.. tahts the die size not the card size

astral haven
#

Lol

junior ore
#

?

ashen spindle
#

the arc die is 396mm^2

cursive summit
#

40 cm card does sound tiny

ashen spindle
#

not the length of the card lol

junior ore
#

n-no? that's the legnth from one end to the next. of the whole video card.

#

i said mm, millimetres.

cursive summit
#

So it's 40 cm

junior ore
#

not nanometers

ashen spindle
#

yes a die is not nanometers big lol

cursive summit
#

Von bon, how old are you again? lul

wet canopy
#

long boi

junior ore
#

what do you mean by "die" then?

ashen spindle
#

the gpu chip

junior ore
#

we weren't talking abotu the chip size

ashen spindle
#

I know..

junior ore
#

we were talking about the length fo the whole card

cursive summit
#

R9 Nano is tiny af

ashen spindle
#

but you googled and came back with the area of the die..

astral haven
# astral haven

Look at this image
The line in red is 150mm
It's slightly under 300mm long

junior ore
#

i'm not crazy here

wet canopy
#

is a long boi

astral haven
#

It isn't that long geez

ashen spindle
#

ok, other question, where did you get teh 396mm from

cursive summit
#

400 mm = 40 cm

#

Hold up wtf

ashen spindle
#

ok, what google result did you get your number from..

junior ore
#

hold on my screenshot broke

wet canopy
junior ore
ashen spindle
#

...

#

bruh

junior ore
#

it's not size of the chip

#

it's size of the whole thing

astral haven
#

That's the die size
Read the article

ashen spindle
#

bruh

astral haven
#

It's mm2
Mm2 is area of something

junior ore
#

okay no. a chip is not FIFTEEEN INCHES LONG

wet canopy
#

I mean it's not a flat object

astral haven
#

396mm2 is tiiiiiny, so it must be the chip

ashen spindle
#

bruh

final flame
#

it's the area of it

wet canopy
#

I think whoever wrote that article mixed up some measurements

junior ore
#

but thats ... squared isn't it?

astral haven
#

It's something like 20x20mm

ashen spindle
#

AREA not LENGTH

junior ore
#

because

cursive summit
#

40cm is not tiny lul

junior ore
#

its a rectangle

ashen spindle
astral haven
#

^

junior ore
#

this is confusing

ashen spindle
#

no it really isnt

junior ore
#

well i thought it was exponential cause area, not ... uh. whatever that is.

final flame
#

multiply the length x height you get the number you saw

ashen spindle
#

yes it is area thus the ^2

#

its the area of the chip, not the length of the card

cursive summit
#

Anyways, nobody really knows how long those cards will be

#

They aren't in retail yet

junior ore
#

how does it come out to 15 inches long?

wet canopy
#

coincidence

junior ore
#

but no

#

there aren't chips

#

15 inches long

wet canopy
#

area is not length though

#

the card is probably closer to 30cm long

ashen spindle
#

ok im trying to break this down once more on the hopeful believe you are not trolling

#

it has a area of 396 mm SQUARED

cursive summit
#

We have a 2nd Lana now, let's prosper lads

ashen spindle
#

so if you put that into inches its that many inches SQUARED

#

not the LENGTH

junior ore
#

dies but also has to go afk to drive home

astral haven
#

It's less than 156 x2 mm long
So it's less than the length of the founders 3080 at the same height and width

ashen spindle
#

I dont know american units but I know area size does not suddenly turn into length...

astral haven
#

It's longer than my prototype Intel gpu

ashen spindle
#

cute

wet canopy
# astral haven

oh so it's not that big, probably as big as my current card then

#

like a foot long or so

ashen spindle
#

its a very different card

wet canopy
#

30ish cm

ashen spindle
#

thats not the same as the one we talked about from the IEM event showcase

astral haven
#

It's likely smaller than most gpus tbh
It's only 2 slots

wet canopy
#

I was looking at pictures it does look thin

cursive summit
#

Anyways lads

#

Here is some scientific guesstimations

#

The card does look like 23 cm's long

ashen spindle
#

more importantly, in regards to zen4 only using ddr5

wet canopy
#

oh wow

astral haven
#

And we have 6400 c32 now
It's getting faster and lower latency by the month

cursive summit
#

GDDR or DDR?

wet canopy
#

DDR

astral haven
#

Ddr

wet canopy
#

RAM

cursive summit
#

In what world 8 gigs of DDR5 cost 40 euros

wet canopy
#

USA bby

#

lol

astral haven
#

In a world where the smallest stick you can buy is 16

cursive summit
#

Well actually

#

DDR5 isn't that bad anymore

old marlin
#

Computerbase price comparison

wet canopy
#

tbh it seems better to go with 2 sticks of 16 if just for the voltages

astral haven
#

Yea don't buy those
But hey at least it's an option

old marlin
#

Which is geizhals

astral haven
cursive summit
#

Wtf since when is 16GBs of DDR4 50$

#

Why was I under the illusion 16 gigs of RAM costed 100$

wet canopy
#

it used to

ashen spindle
#

also funny that you want two sticks for dd4 but one for ddr5 for OC results lol

#

at least currently

cursive summit
#

Ahhh I see why

astral haven
cursive summit
#

I never searched for the basic DDR4 kits

#

DDR4 3600 is still like 80$

astral haven
#

I got a pair of 32gb sticks for $80 each

cursive summit
#

About what I'd expect I guess

#

Tf would be the purpose of buying high speed DDR4 anymore if you can instead get DDR5

astral haven
#

Speedyboi stuff is spensiv still

astral haven
cursive summit
#

But muh MHz

ashen spindle
#

you also cant really chose but gotta get what your board supports

astral haven
ashen spindle
#

Mbps masterrace

cursive summit
#

Mountains per second?

empty wren
#

Mountains bikes*

cursive summit
#

Ah I see

wet canopy
