But all you have to do is push the module into the case
And screw in one screw to ground it
okay bet thank you

i remember someone saying that they killed their PC with a screwdriver
New Amazon scam - people are putting DDR2 and DDR3 sticks in the DDR5 heatsinks before return
That's a lot of effort.
But I guess that just means Amazon have to pay customers for Motherboard replacements, and have some internal procedure changes.
I've said it before and I'll say it again - They are being far too lazy and lax with just assuming returns are ready for immediate resale, and it hurts customers thinking they're buying something factory new (and paying the price)
i have to agree on that
I've never recommended buying PC hardware on Amazon, long before return scams.
I remember buying a GPU once and despite ticking the option to ship in a plain box, they just slapped the shipping label on the GPU's packaging.
I mean... it's made for it. But I would also be frustrated.
The SWTOR collector's box I got back in the day also just had a label slapped on it.
By a sheer miracle, it only took minimal damage.
Also this, I stopped buying on Amazon years ago.
Account deleted.
Very sad
But because people struggle to build these days it could happen to more companies
another casualty of the pc industry slopocalypse
Thank AI shit
that being said galax was not a manufacturer
next gen pny is potential kingpin which is 👀
P sure this is an oem issue not ai issue
someone went to the effort of resealing a $100 charger with slightly larger sealing stickers
It had skidmarks on it, and after I got a replacement I noticed there was a bag I didn’t get with my last one
AI has def impacted the whole industry negatively with a snowballing effect from extortion rate ram prices and to some extent also gpus
people buying considerably less pc parts hurts everyone
was it the sole cause? probably not, but coulda been the final blow to an industry already operating on thin margins
I've felt this way for a long time, but for the past month I've kept a journal where I put an "X" next to every date where a GitHub outage has negatively impacted my ability to work. Almost every day has an X. On the day I am writing this post, I've been unable to do any PR review for ~2 hours because there is a GitHub Actions outage. This is no longer a place for serious work if it just blocks you out for hours per day, every day.
https://mitchellh.com/writing/ghostty-leaving-github
Ghostty kinda overrated, if terminal emulator doesn't start immediately it's unusable
Thanks, Brave. You're always a champ (This function has literally never worked)
pretty sure that’s a chrome feature since brave is chrome based
The legendary maker of Hall of Fame (HOF) GeForce GPUs, known for their exceptional overclocking capabilities, GALAX, is officially closing its operations after 30 years in business. Yes we know - It was already obvious from their previous title, when this "news" broke years ago 😄
It was the case with Ingress, Niantic's previous game too
Data was used to improve Google Maps back then
In Privacy Policy it says clearly that data will be collected to improve Niantic's and Google's services
its almost like people make up stuff that could be true to get views
Seems perfect for solar installations
In EVs when?
I think it has not good enough energy density for EVs
But lithium batteries for EVs and sodium/iron for solar installations would be pretty good
Especially since we are getting really good at lithium recycling and Li-Ion batteries use less and less other rare materials
Hi i'm tak and my company has florblglorple Equitunity of 244 trillion now give me money
this is fake btw
It's not fake just innacurate as Palit put out a statement 3 hours ago
Basicsllg galax's management is being swallowed
yeah so rip HOF cards
guys is 95 degree when I play pragmata on a 5600x too much?
Yeah
Thats thermal limit probably
Check with hwinfo64 to be sure but i can say it with 99% certainty
yeah I checked with hwinfo64 I was playing with a windows opened and suddenly I was like wtf it is really hot outside or what
until I removed the earphone and heard the ventirad turning like crazy and the heat coming from the case
I thought it was the gpu first but no it is the cpu
I just dont like doing the paste thing again but after almost 5 years guess it is time
depends on the paste id say but could be the issue
what are the idle temps?
thats not outrageous depending on if you use wallpaperengine etc
well I dont it is just dowloading a game on steam at the same time
Yeah you use the cpu
oh wait if I stop downloading
If you stop the download your temps should go down
yeah I relaunched pragmata while I stopped dowloading
i see 55 at "idle" on my 5900x so 60s on a 5600x is a bit high
You can say its the paste but you could just clean the pc as well
Im idle at 45-50c with a 5800x3d
i mean it should not thermal throttle, if your cooler is up to the task it can only be paste
Peerless Assassin 120 SE is fantastic
ok if I dont dowload at the same time I have 87
while running pragmata
I will just open clean if there is some dust and apply new thermal paste
Thats sounds fine with high graphics settings
what do you think is the limit? 90?
ok
well I dont really feel like opening stuff and all of that but well after 5 years I guess it cannot hurt
95 is amds limit for non x3d chips iirc 90c for x3d chips
oh ok then yes I was at the limit
I remember playing battlefield 4 with friends and my 2600x hit 105c
yeah it used to be 105 back then
yeah the good old time when a pc was also a heater
oh ok 😂
I remember letting my pc ran all night for dowloading stuff and becoming crazy with the ventil noise
In winter i don’t mind if my pc becomes a space heater
What about undervolting
yeah I could do that too
Undervolt but do not boost the freq
but look if it is just the thermal past having issue then I still have to replace it
Extra cool
how if fixed high temps i just removed the mesh
Only 7800x3d
I don’t enjoy touching CPU voltages and any stuff with it
Under volt has 0 risk p much
Yeah im still not someone who loves being inside the bios
I could undervolt my 5800x3d but i don’t think its matter that much
no its just overclocking in a different name
the only difference is, it's harder kill a cpu with lower voltage vs higher voltage compared to stock
pretty much yes , i wonder if someone fried his cpu undervolting
but you can get instability and damage on the cpu by undervolting too because you change the voltage spikes and behavior on load/idle
i guess it depends on the motherboard aswell , asrock used to melt cpus on stock settings
i mean that answer does make sense electrically speaking at least
Doesn’t enabling pbo disable warranty already

use of the feature invalidates the AMD product warranty
well the question is if they will still honor it
XMP/expo is also over clocking but they tend to honor the warranty anyway
i think they have to because its needed to achieve the advertised speeds but technically yes its overlocking
surely AMD wouldn't pull an ASUS... light scratch on the outside of the case... denied due to user damage
So what now
Idk how defects from touching the voltage could be similar to case scratches

What a timeline
yey, competition
Never thought I'd see something like that back when I was first toying around with wine gaming 19 years ago
COMPETITION GOOD???
CRAZY ITS ALMOST LIKE IT BREEDS BETTER PRODUCTS??
(I hate monopolies)
i think the issue here is more that in theory running something through a translation layer should always be slower so you'd really have to fuck up big for the linux implementation to be faster
and if the benchmark is steamOS with translating that's still lower performance than what you should realistically be getting
then again i don't think FPS is the issue with windows but it's more frametime consistancy that's far better on SteamOS
Welp, doesn't work anymore
Looks like patched in kernel 6.19.12, 6.19.11 is still vulnerable
Patch deez nutz
Oh for fucks sake, I'll have to make a company-wide patch for it tomorrow, won't I? Cybersec won't leave me alone
Wagie get back in the cagie

setuid strikes again
Yeah sometimes I’m just confused because there’s not even a positive headline one could put into connection with it lol
im using my logitech mouse and my profile keeps switching basck as soon as i try to play a game
inb4 tomorrow tump puts some bullshit on foreign fabs again
@heady hazel buddy asked for a 230AC 500W minimum circuit
silicone substrate and kanthal resistive material
~560W via 94.5 Ohms
this is for a cross gantry 180^3mm^3 machine
goto ghub and see if you have profiles set up to change when you play certain games
i have some for different keybinds on games
can you hook up your own gpu to a framework 16 laptop?
(not a previous framework gpu you own)
hey, GUESS WHAT
yes you can egpu almost any modern laptop
No no but the "problem" is I have a desktop rn, so it would be a deszktop gpu not a laptop one
would it still work? even if it would be inconvenient
alright i think yes
pretty cool
Isn't that an Intel only thing? Or are there alternatives to Thunderbolt? (I have literally no idea how this works, I remember doing a bit of research during laptops purchases)
if you want to get a framework, don't is the best recomemndation lol
usb4

usb4 basically being what thunderbolt is just thunderbolt is the certified version that passes some tests set by intel/apple
wait why?
because its one of the worst possible laptop deals you can get and offers you mediocre quality in return
ic ic. So an eGPU enclosure that sports USB4 and a laptop with a USB4 port "should" be compatible
You buy a Framework because you have the money to stick it to Apple and other brands. Not because it's a good value for money, or their build quality is amazing.
like, the latest fw16pro starts at 2500 and the equivalent dell you could get would be about 1500
well not a chance in hell i would buy anything pc related now anyway, maybe in 6-8 years when my pc becomes either too bad or below 120 fps in games at medium quality AND the prices hopefully
have fallen down for ram/ssd/gpus
if I buy a framework now and upgrade in 5 years to a new board, I paid more than if I had bought a new laptop now and in 5 years, and that way I would get a better screen, better battery etc.
I am very grateful to get a decent deal on my laptop world being what it is 😄
And ansible is chugging on all our servers
4th May at 19:00 CEST Steam servers will go down yet again
I hope not, with OLED Decks they were well prepared
Calsy woo
You will get one on the launch?
hey that's star wars day
gibgibgibgibgibgibgib
How did you put it in cart?
Also €419? Scam.
I just want the frame, and to know the machine pricing so people will stop having their weird imaginations of a chunk of old hardware costing 1500 lmao
Poland mentioned🔥
You can do it via SteamDB
Its polish money so like 4x less or sum
that's not euros silly
it's 98,41 Euro if you convert 419 zloty to euro
Lowk im surprised its that cheap
it's on the expensive side for a controller
I thought ts would cost like 300 euro
i know LTT made a video about it
It's on the expensive side for an entry-level controller
Thanks this might actually help me get it if it gets sold out fast.
No, the x box elite controler is on the expensive side

Good thing it's not an entry level controller 😐
It's not an entry-evel controller.
I was about to say 🤣
Feature-wise this beats the Xbox Elite controllers which are like €199-ish 😕
Okay... maybe it doesn't have replaceable thumbsticks or torque adjustment on them.
xbox is way overpriced anyways
But who cares about that.
No the xbox controller probably feels way better
Just slightly
I personally own one and love jt
Saying feature-wise.
not slighty, they simply are overprices
Cuz it got trackpadss
Nah they’re a good controler
The best controler i have ever used
that doesnt justify the insane price tag
Its Xbox ur paying the 60$ more for the logo
exactly
But it is the best controller out there
Wait how do you do it? I don't see the option. And I do have the SteamDB browser extension installed.
8bitdo ultimate 2 wireless for me is nice

@umbral heron Thanks Calsy fren
Mark and his VPN life.
If you compare 8bit ultimate and steam controller what more has the steam controller apart trackpad?
And yes, this is AI'd
I'm trolling.
I wonder if it emulates DInput or XInput when without Steam though
Tablets and phones don't have Steam Input, and Volvo say it's compatible with them
If XInput then it'd be amazing
No, read the first sentence. It requires steam
It's using the Steam Link app, fren.
I wonder if the puck comes with a USB-A plug or a USB-C plug.
just f12 and go to console then addToCart(1558609)
Easy to spot, you wouldn't pay tax on top in EU, duh
For now. I assume people will be able to do an open source driver for other machines like Arcades and whatnot eventually?
Yeh and also shipping is free.
i find it an interesting choice they made the steam controller incompatible with xbox and ps
why a browser extension when steam lets you add stuff themselves
500iq move
It will function in "Lizard Mode" probably if you don't have Steam installed.
now make a script that cycles through all IDs until you find when they add stream frame/machine and get fame by leaking price and date of that
Just search "Steam controller lizard mode" it will explain
They should really support GameInput when running standalone
Isn't GameInput reliant on Xbox overlay?
Not functioning at all without Steam running is kinda meh… not that I personally play anything outside of Steam in big 2026.
But as I've said the protocol it uses is fairly simple, and SDL supports it directly so there is code available that you can steal to liberate the steamy controllers from Steam
dont need to the id is in steamdb
if it exists
Oh, they've added SDL support half a year ago https://www.phoronix.com/news/New-Steam-Controller-SDL
and this happens
ah
Still undecided
me
Already sold CS skins to get munny
One for my birthday?

I take that as a no 🙁
All for me

One for Mark, one for Dali
you mean two for dali and mark might be allowed to use one
They can use Xbox Elite controller.
ok thank you ill take it home as well
No money, but even if I have, steam doesn't sell their hardware in my region (have to go through third party)
I’ll attempt to order one on Monday.
I'll prop get it in 1-2 month
Noooo, you can't keeeeeeeeep 🥺
Yes but I need it if other guest comes
get another cheap controller for them
No I already got Xbox Elite
No worries Tony, you can have my Xbox Elite controller. The rubber is peeling off though which makes it feel disgusting to handle for longer sessions
For guests there is F310
elite or elite 2
This is the way
The first one. After this incident I didn’t bother buying the second anymore
I’ve got an Ultimate 2 and Ultimate 2C somewhere in my house. Wasn’t the biggest fan of either in the end.
But most 8bitdo controllers is unusable - they have wrong stick layout
elite 2 foreverrr
see toasty gets it
DualSense Edge would be cool, but Sony fumbled the only aspect that would matter for me there, which is replaceable sticks
They are never in stock
i have never broken a controller 🤔
I have never as well...
But people in my vicinity have broken mine
if you got a good heart, you wont get stick drift
Well that's not entirely true I guess, one stopped working after a transcontinental move
I dont think ive ever have broken one either or gotten one broken by friends
Which I guess is on me
Never got stick drift either, but if I spend so much on a controller then it better be repairable, so I can use for long time
This would make me quite annoyed
i guess desoldering doesnt count as repairable?
I will resist the hype
Ach it was a kid, shit happens
maybe it wasn't ready for such a change
Clearly not
My issue with premium peripherals is that input APIs haven't caught up. Back buttons on a controller, for example, should give you additional binds directly usable in-game instead of needing to use system-level utilities to map an existing bind to them. Same for gaming mice with thumb buttons, anything more than two thumb buttons is useless without that bind mapping out-of-game.
I taught my neighbor’s kids to be careful or be ready to sell their ps5
kinda interesting that people dont count repairing an items by soldering stuff as repairable.
humans are pretty repairable
Surprisingly so
although cpu kinda hard
issue is that we learn nothing in school. Most people after school should be able to do basic soldering or fixing basic stuff in cars or even basic stuffs at home yet I dont know a lot of people knowing that
It'd be, if company provided replacements
If I need to rely on 3rd parties, then I don't count it as such
mainly due to the fact many people dont have soldering machines or have the technical knowledge to
which is weird but yeah#
SDL supports all inputs on pretty much any controller you throw at it
so cars that dont get OEM parts anymore are also not repairable? even if third party parts exist?
like saying a car aint repairable when rhe fuel line is cut cus you aint got the tools
imagine spending 15 years in the school system and not even being able to build a pc by assembling component
honestly most people dont know how a car work
that was more just an example from me as a mechanic
I mean why would the average person learn this
My issue extends beyond controllers though, gaming mice are just as bad for this if you've got a MOBA/MMO mouse.
true
I think theres much more important life skills which dont really get taught
yeah like how to do taxes lmao
I mean we get that in the netherlands
we didnt in the uk
because some things like computer, cars, fridge... are basic stuff society ask us to use. At least we should have some sense on how these work and how to repair basic stuff
I dont know
but i have learned taxes are automatic for us
But how to buy a house and what life costs you can expect living independently for example, how to budget
Same here
taxes in the netherlands are smth you dont need to learn lol
thats why we have specialty courses for them
trade schools
But there were parts available during support period, and 3rd parties had access to original parts they could copy, and not figure out on their own
But for example take iPhone, where Apple doesn't provide replacement screens for customers, only for authorized repair shops, so I wouldn't count that as repairable
Basically - company has to put a minimum effort to support repairability as such, and not actively work against it
I mean theres a difference between blindly accepting every yes button on taxes and knowing what to do to save on taxes etc
Disagree...
well I know in france I didnt have any of that. Had to learn it by myself
well third parties have access to oem parts right now as well... can just disassemble a new controller
Just because you can complete them without understanding them doesn't mean you shoul;d
you should have most colleges or universities offer courses like that
well i filled it out with the help of dutchies and they filled it exactly like i would have so idk
worked for me
Most dutch people dont even know about lijfrente
it wont be caleld like mechanic course or anything itll be called something like light vehicle repair
I swear here in university they dont teach mechanic (apart following an engineering degree), how to fix a computers or any of that
itll depend on the college / university
i mean sure but i also dont see how i could safe any taxes because they ask about things that just flat out dont apply to me
If you have a stable income and would like to live for a long time, you have a jaar ruimte with lijfrente, you can dump money into that and save on taxes.
but you may need to find a specialised trade school
oh so thats like a pension?
yeah
They dont apply to you because you dont make use of it
one thing ive learned tho is
But they could
when you have both government and private pensions the government pension doesnt pay out properly
Yeah but I just mean for basic repairing stuff on everyday things we use. Of course it doesnt mean everyone should be a mechanic, but everyone should be able to change basic stuff in cars if wanted
i wont buy properties, crypto or stock or such for maybe getting tax benefits
thats what youtube is for
i still google shit now
nor will i just get children out of nowhere just to say i got children
like i still have to google where an air filter is in certain cars
I do too I just complain that school teach things I will never ever need, while dont teach things I need. At least in my country
I mean not getting into stock is certainly a choice, theres a difference between instagram stock investors and just getting a good bond/stock mix to grow or at least maintaint your money’s worth with
idk how dutch taxes are compared to german, but stuff like home office write offs, returns on hardware that you can classify as 50/50 private and work use like a laptop etc. all can be making you money
none of that applies to me
also i only do income tax
im already sad enough i started doing income tax
cause apparently i didnt have to
you never plan to buy any hardware?
i do but not for work
and yes you can subtract valid claims from your income tax
no field for it in the web form i fill ¯_(ツ)_/¯
if it wasnt so much administrative work that I hate, one way would be to create a small company you dont use and buy stuff and say it is for the company?
dont even need to do that, you can claim most things as partly work related and dont have to proof it
This is not permitted
i feel like we are into tax fraud territory
Ok but your money losing value due to inflation does count for you no?
what money
lol
yeah depend on the country you can or not do that
😭
the few grand of buffer i keep?
just means you cant subtract the entire amount but lets say you but a 3000€ pc you could still lower taxes by 1500 without providing proof potentially
the rest i spend on stuff i want anyway
You have no savings?
i just said i do
when people do that it is borderline tax fraud, when big company do the same it is called tax optimization
but its like 3 grand tops
Few grand buffer is emergency fund no?
lifes too short and im under no illusion that ill become rich
yeah you should look into creating some savings for retirement so you're not stuck with the massive gap from just having state pension
its not to become rich its to not be old and poor
You can make a revolut and put it into a monetary fund, that is insured up till 20k€ and at least gets you a few % per day
we got some weird pension fund we have to pay into here ¯_(ツ)_/¯
*per year
I doubt the dutch pension is enough unless wooting forces a good enough plan onto you?
No its paid daily
Not a few percent
like i said there is an extra pension i have to pay into
Fair, overly simplified
Its still a % just lower 😛
I have it in a gbp fund for highest %
Wooting is forced into a very expensive pension fund scheme due to the fact we sell D2C.
Which is fantastic for Tony, but worse for someone who wants to take a more active approach in their own financial management
okay so its as it should, save the unwilling at the cost of the willing xD
everyday you have free money?
thats how interest works yes
that is good wow
But i only have this filled until its max insured rate
Lets say revolut goes under, ill at least get 100% of my money back
its literally just a savings account at a bank
No
Savings are only 1-2%
depends on the bank
why not just get a money market etf at that point
Thats not insured
I do have that too
so they pay you for letting them keep your money?
Yep
and you can get back your money at any time?
I was just talking about the safest options because tony doesnt want to invest
Yeah
well it is very good
But not in weekends if you have a free plan
Or well you can, at a slight cost
is the tax office taking a part on the free money?
Just check if you can make a revolut and you’ll see if it works
In NL we’re tax free on investments below 70K iirc?
here I dont know
but honestly I am not good at all with money investment all these things
its not different from just going to any bank or online brooker with a deposit that gets you 3% or more and then just change to keep the higher %
Most e-banks make it simple and easy for you
Then you just have to do some self research to see what is safe and what the limits are according to law
yeah I will check revolut I know it exists here
They make it simple and easy for you because they make more off your money than you get back from them
just look at your current bank what they have before looking at something else
thats just any bank
Yeah but some like to screw you over too
the thing is that I dont want the money to be stucked for years in case I need it
Most trad banks thats the case in NL but with ebanks thats generally less so
yeah I will check what my bank and something like revolut have and see if it could work for me
wonder how durability is
if there was rj45 compatible connectors id actually be using this already
but i dont wanna run another switch in my room just to connect 2 pcs
one of those are going to be on my setup, might be a bit expensive, but i think those touch pads are going to be good for a lot of games, especially inventory management, i am afraid the controller is too big for my hands though
yea i might get one
Yeah, it is pretty big.
doesnt it mostly look big cause it fills out the croissant
the overall width doesnt seem that much bigger
But I don't think it will be a problem.
on the bigger side but not extreme
I hope some shops will have it, so i can try it out first
I don't think they will be sold in shops.
nor do steamdecks, yet here we are
i think some places import them to save the issues of importing and help reduce fee's
I was thinking finally a controller that looks designed for adult hands
from an aesthetic point of view the angled squares irk me but i get why they are that way
hey i am an adult 😮
but i was thinking more in small hands and artheritis could be an issue, joypads are often a problem, too small and my hands can't handle it, too large and my hands can't handle it.
It is good you guys think about it while still being young
Growing older you end up regretting not avoiding articular issues
@dull hollow i kid you not this was all that was wrong with my car in the end damn 12€ relay i got on ebay
Anyone got experience with lighthouse VR controllers like the Valve Vive Knuckles? I am looking for recommendations.
they actually can be in display, you just have to be in a cool country like japan
the knuckles aren't readily available anymore so it's kinda hard to recommend
shiftall are making a couple lighthouse controllers
I can see some stuff on ebay for the Knuckles, but I found a used pair reportedly in good condition that costs $240+45shipping
I saw the gripvr, and flipvr, and they seem to do all the same stuff. Which would you think is the better deal?
knuckles aren't the most reputable for durability, and it doesn't help that it'll be difficult to get proper support on them now
If I get a usb c adapter to lightning can I then connect it to my iPhone and it would work sorry for asking here I didn’t know where to ask (wooting uwu)
yep in Denmark too 🙂
my knuckles are horribly drifting and it's really a matter of time for it to drift with those joycon joysticks
That should work, as far as I recall lightning just uses the USB 2.0 protocol
wait for the frame imo
if you are looking for a new headset, for sure
they specifically asked for a lighthouse controller so i just assumed they already have a different headset
and already have base stations
I've already got the lighthouses, so waiting for the frame is a bit silly
Would you recommend the flipvr or gripvr? I suppose it depends on the games you play, but might as well ask
I mean if I got a adapter worked would the wooting uwu work?
i haven't used either of them for extended time, only really tried it at demoes before
that being said, i think flipvr is the more versatile one for social vr, and also just using your keyboard and stuff for example
can't speak for if it's good for intense sessions in boneworks or something
another consideration is just using vive or tundra trackers on some other solution
i'm personally going to get the frame and probably never use my index and base stations again
my recommendation is still waiting for the frame even if someone has base stations, can always just sell them
from reviews so far, I heard that the sizing feels like between a ps controller and xbox controller, so it seems like it's not as much of an issue as people are thinking it'll be based off of the looks
Why should I wait for the Steam Frame? For the inside out tracking?
imo just a more seamless and convenient experience
convenience is really significant to how often you'll end up actually getting in vr in my experience
better all around experience unless you have like one of the tethered super expensive things like the pimax crystal for racing sims or such
sounds good, i can somewhat use my ps5 controller, i don't have an xbox controller, but have an 8bitdo ultimate 2c (switch controller) i think its about the same size as xbox, i have a bit of troubles with the 8bitdo.
i do think most controllers are made with men in mind though
I have purchased the Pimax.
I have also backed the Fluxpose, but that (hopefully) will arrive later in the year. I presume I could maybe use the Fluxpose to entirely replace the lighthouses later on.
unfortunately that's the more common demogrpahic for these products so yeah
based fluxpose backer
eventually using fluxpose tracked controllers could be a very nice option too
i think index controller might make sense if it's as a temporary solution until fluxpose or frame or whatever arrives
Can the fluxpose replace the lighthouses for tracking, or would it still need it for the VR goggles to act as a reference point?
the headset needs to track itself somehow
so if the headset can only track off of lighthouse you'll need lighthouse still
if the headset is self tracking via cameras, then fluxpose can replace all other tracking
fluxpose tracks off of the beacon which is suppose to act as your hip tracker, so the beacon needs a reference point to base all other tracking off which'll be your headset, so with fluxpose you put one tracker on the headset
fluxpose is a bit strange but it works, technically the lighthouse is the beacon on your hip
but the lighthouse knows where it is relative to your body
because it has its own tracking via gyro and IMU
and then the sensors around your body track themselves relative to the beacon on your hip
the beacon doesn't track itself
because it doesnt need to.
all fluxpose needs to know is your body XY pose and your individual tracker XY pose in the coordinate space of the beacon
yes i explained how it works above, your statement on beacon tracking via gyro and imu is inaccurate
strange, so if its all realtive to beacon for the smaller trackers, how does it do whole body XY translation?
or XYZ for that matter plus pitch yaw and roll
i explained just above
ok so beacon positions itself using positional data from headset?
yes
using the coordinate space of the headset and transforms it into its own coordinate space?
something like that, the fluxpose trackers only knows its position relative to the beacon, and therefore relative to each other
Maybe I should've bought the Pimax SLAM version, but then again they seem to be having some delays with that model
AnyhooI I think, I've got a spot where I can just leave the base stations
using a transformation matrx?
yeah so transofrmations between coordinate spaces is required, which is fine tbh
which is all relative to headset
yes it works very well
but the headset still does need to be tracked, so if the headset can't track itself, you'll still need lighthouses
So if I am getting the Fluxpose, should I still consider the flip/gripvr or aim for something else?
if you're keeping around the lighthouse regardless due to the headset, there isn't that much reason to rush to have your controllers tracked by fluxpose
Yeah, also another weird thing I guess is that your transformation matrix of the headset coordinates to beacon coordinates is constantly changing, because you can bend rotate your head relative to your hip. So I am curious as to how it can compensate for that since everything it measures is relative to your headset.
all first hand experience i've heard of seems to not have an issue with this so i wouldn't worry about
Nono, not saying there is something wrong with that, but I'm curious as to how they do it.
Because it's genuinely an interesting problem that they solved here
you just put a tracker on the headset
Right but the beacon also needs to know where it is via its own sensors
Suppose I just gotta decide if I want the Grip or Flip from shiftfall
In order to create the transformation matrix
the beacon knows where the headset is relative to itself because of a tracker on the headset
that means the beacon also knows where itself is relative to the headset
and if it knows where the headset is it can figure out the rest
Right but what happens if I move my hips and not my head?
Let's imagine a hypothetical scenario where you only moved your hips but your head stayed absolutely still
The only way that you can create a new transformation matrix is to get positional data from the beacon itself
Relative to the still movement of the headset
i'm not exactly sure which part you're confused about, the beacon just knows it moved relative to the headset
and if the headset, which is tracked separately, isn't moving
that means the beacon is the one that's moving
By what mechanism though?
??
By mechanism I mean what is it doing between the headset and beacon? Is it cameras? IMUs? Or SLAM?
with the same mechanism as all the other trackers
like i said like 3 times now, you place one of the tracker on the headset
Oh ok that makes a lot more sense
😭
i've literally said 😔
I thought you meant an IMU already built into the headset
Mb bro
imu trackers are nowhere near accurate enough
standalone headsets are all slam tracked as far as i know
I guess I should have said whatever tracking the headset used,
Ok I see how it works now
Makes a lot more sense
here are examples of how it'd be mounted
Considering switching my headset out for IEMs and a clip-on mic of I’m not able to get ahold of some other stuff. Does anyone have recommendations for a set and a DAC.
just letting you know that I can't find where i heard that statement from, so I may be remembering wrong
for dac i recommend apple dongle and thats it
Yeah that makes way more sense
This tbh
Actually anything using a CX31993 is generally better than the apple dongle because it supports higher bitrate and frequency+ it doesn't have volume issues on Android
This is the one i use. It's the same one as the moondrop one except without any branding (even has the moondrop VID in device manager)
Volume issues on Android is because the phone itself cannot supply enough power
That's the fault of the phone not the dongle itself
Ban this guy!!!!!

thanks mods
ok well why does every single dongle except for the apple one have normal volume then
it's only the apple dongle that's quiet
Depends on the model too tbh
The EU model can only do 0.5V
apple dongle in the EU has less power
people usually don't recommend apple dongles if in eu
I think Apple dongle is 0.5V in EU because of some obscure regulation
I forgot what it was tho
yeah something like that
Apple dongle does 24 bit 48 kHz which is already behind human hearing in reasonable scenarios
Yeah 48k is plenty
Heck 44.1k is the standard
For 95% of content out there on the internet
And actually if you ran the dongle at a diff sampling rate than the source then it has to be re-sampled by the audio API which introduces loss of detail.
Yeah, usually stuff like music and videos is 44.1kHz
i have the apple dongle here somewhere so i can check but yeah that's kind of the point. apple doesn't have a lot of options for the sample rate so depending on what your audio source is you might run into this issue
if you got more than 44.1k you shouldn't be worrying
for some professional applications you'd use 96khz
Not for playback
That's for mixing
higher can makes sense if it's source audio meant for mixing
Very rarely used for playback.
idk i have mine set to 48khz because games yes but i'm not sure if the apple dongle has both that and 44.1khz as options
i believe with phones they just output whatever the source is
96 kHz is very pointless for playback. Higher can even potentially be harmful
The USB-C version can do 44.1K and 48K both 16 and 24 bit
Lighting version is 48K only
i mean in general the cs31993 dongles are just higher build quality than the apple one (at least the one i have) and cost the same + support more bit rates and sample rates so it's kind of a no brainer imo
Resampling issues yeah
Here Apple dongle is cheaper :P
At least in the states
idk here the apple dongle is 12 euros and the CX31993 is 11 but you also get a box and c to a adapter
Yeah ts fair
apple dongle will just kill itself if you shove it in your pocket often
I mean, if you're really worried about the quality, get something that allows you to replace the usb cable, that's usually where it'll fail
btw i shill for qudelix 5k
something with at least some sleeving than the bare rubber of the apple dong
bluetooth support and onboard peq
my main issue with it is the rubber that apple uses for the cable and stress relief tends to turn bad after a while and discolors and start to flake off + the internal wire will break giving you popping issues and disconnects
Yeah sonic frequencies can be an issue
yeah
I mean if you have shrink wrap laying around, it's a good way to bulk up an apple dong lol
also glossy plastic is kind of an ick for me because it scratches so easily
that's what i did to the apple dong in my car
it's been lasting years thanks to that
i used electrical tape and just wrapped it like the tennis racket grips lol
My Apple dongle I bought several years ago is still going strong
g
The TRN Black pearl has been getting hype for a cheap dong where you need a lot more power
you don't really need more power with IEM's usually though
can even be bad because you lose granularity with volume selection and if you accidentally set the volume too high you can blow up the drivers
if you're using 80 ohm headphones then sure get something with more power
What's the voltage?
Why Discord. Why the fuck do you suddenly feel the need to force haptic every time I post an emoji.
Genuinely wtf.
Lmao?
Yep.
what
oh you mean like on your phone keyboard?
Lowk dun got that on iOS at least
Ts strange
Just wait. It'll come
Being 80 ohm doesn't mean it's hard to drive
Ohms lowk don't matter, sensitivity does
lol got timed out trying to post a shortened amazon link
Like I've seen headphones that are under 100 ohm and aren't very sensitive so they require a lot of power to drive
Operating voltage:
4.5v-5.25v from their website
Hmm, that's USB input voltage, more curious about output votage
up to 4vrms on balanced
Ooo nice
it's like half the price of comparable big dongs
Whenever I see low impedance headphones I brace myself for the sensitivity
If I see a headphone that is for example 200 ohm then I feel like I don't even need to look at the sensitivity because usually they are not hard to drive
«You need a powerful amp to get full use out of your HD800S»

it should be 102 DB/V not mW
should still be relatively easy to drive
Ah yeah. But that's still easy
think you need at least something like the FiiO KA11, 22mW @300 ohms, for the HD800S
yesss, just more power to reach the full potential of hd600
Why do https://t.co/Ba5zpVGWY1 fans launch later? Black colouring additives alter the polymer’s behaviour during injection moulding, so to maintain our ultra-strict tolerances, we require completely new toolings and months of rigorous validation tests: https://t.co/BR4kpRhV6p
yo does anyone here with a xm2w 4k know if theres a big difference between the frost and black
yes
there is a big difference
in the build quality?
ive heard the frost is like slightly more wobbly or smth so i wanted to make sure with someone who owns it idk
saw this, very cool blog post

Been there done that (on gen 3)
Problem is the new one for pcie 5 is well over a grand
hock tan thanks you for paying your broadcom tax
I mean thats why though bought PLX
PLX and Nvidia are the only major players in pcie swtiches.
nvidia dosent make anything consumer now
And somehow microchip hasn't been aquired by anyone yet
so dose asmedia but they arent major players
Afaik they were first to gen 6
before conectx?
Both were oct 2025 release it seems?
Nvidia was probably first because they launch privately first
yall i lowkey reset my bios on accident
it fixed all my problems but i dontr know what to turn back on]
like everytghjing is back to default
Does the PC boot? Then there's usually only one thing to toggle on. Maybe two.
XMP for your RAM speed. ReBar for your GPU if it isn't already enabled out of the box.
i jus turned rebar and secure boot on just now
im tryna 9figure out if i need a new psu or not
its like ten years old
Chat i have a question
And we are unable to provide an answer till you actually pose it.
The very bedrock yawns with anticipation of your next move.
POV you're playing chess

Check the psu tierlist
Second thought I don't wanna get through all of this
Holy cable management
✂️
Fix it man, fix it once and you have less headaches in the future
Not perfect but at least getting to everything is easy now
Mine has full rgb too
Ah u meant the hub, i have a fan hub bottom left, would prefer a compact rgb hub somewhere maybe
Will Wooting upgrade their switches in software
To do minimal adjust actuation to 0.05 ?
0,1 already good enough
i need dust to actuate my switches
I mean, Steam Machine in updates suggests it may be Machine, but it may as well be Frame at this point
Also also
I don't get the people who say that they'd prefer Steam Controller without touchpads even though they haven't used it
Like... I'm buying it because it has touchpads
There's multum of other controllers without touchpads out there, let us have this one
I know I wouldnt use the touchpad
I hate touchpad
Well now maybe for game like stellaris it would be ok
make steam controller with normal layout
controller trackpads my beloved
not the playstation one...
horipad for steam
It has normal layout
👎
horipad for steam got asym layout, has capacitive sticks and gyro, and full steam input compatability
It's fine Cals, let the scrubs whine while we get to enjoy our absolute peak couch gaming controllers
A touchpad will never replace a mouse I feel
Can't wait to rub my pads while gaming on the Steam Controller
Which games are you going to play with the steam controller touchpad?
Something something South Park
Kodi
i only use controller for forza soo
i've played the portal series with og steam controller
dont think i could use touch pads for that
I've played 1 and 2, and coop with the steam controller, excellent experience
Ok apart from the prestige of owning a valve controller I think the 8bit is better for people not needing touchpad
The Steam Controller brings all the boys to the yard
if you aren't using any of the unique features i wouldn't recommend the steam controller either
there are cheaper and or better feeling options out there
Well I know I wont use the touchpad but the controller seems nice
depends on who you're asking i guess
Honestly peace in the world will never happen when you see people going tribal for a controller 😭
i find symmetrical to be more versatile for conventionally non controller games
as in, when i play soundvoltex on controller
the joysticks becomes the knob and doesn't really make sense being asym
There is a reason for the asymetrical design you want the button on the right side at the same level as the left stick
for games that is played like that sure it might be considered better, but there are also games where you play mainly with both joysticks or dpad and face buttons
symmetrical allows you to operate everything without releasing any of the 2 sticks, while on an asymmetrical one you'll always have to let go of one of the 2 sticks to operate the D-pad, so it's quite simple which is superior per design 😄
how do you use the dpad without releasing sticks on either
oh
right i've seen some people do that
not something i've ever tried or even considered doing yet
if you wanna go extreme you'll use your middle fingers for the upper back buttons and the ring fingers for the triggers
the back buttons helps to have options too
i usually just put common face button functions to the back and it's typically enough
Best way to game is with a razer naga in each hand
why not on each foot too
Also
season 2 when
going by S1 and then the movie and how it messed the timeline plus the time since both of those i really doubt we'll ever see a second season tbh
hey a man can dream
i hope the new steam controller trackpads will be noticeably easier to use than the steam deck
steam deck never fully filled my steam controller itch
also I hope the tmr sticks will be significantly more accurate so I can just feel less bad on joysticks
and gyro should be a lot better not being tied to a heavy handheld
Movie is before S1 by timeline, it's about how it all started and how now the world is ruled by those who are better in games
By books it's a 6th volume, then it continues on with Sora's and Shiro's story in 7th volume, and currently we are on volume 12 or 13 iirc
Also half of the book was cut from the movie, pacing is a bit different
Also fuck Jibril
13th volume released on 24th this month
I won't hold you to it, i'll be checking the shops first anyways, i often try and buy in physical stores if possible to help support them (unless their prices are unreasonable, then i dont mind paying a little bit extra)
i actually use foot petals for most games XD
racing games?
fps

been playing arma for decades
don't know arma enough to know the significance of that and foot pedals
arma allows analog input for lean
intriguing
use it in arma and tarkov
how does it handle that api wise?
you set it in controls like any other control
xinput doesn't have enough axis assuming the rest is used for the usual right
i see
why would you use xinput for something that isnt a xbox controller?
xinput literally emulates a xbox controller
you're right, not familiar enough with racing rigs
it isnt a racing game
i assumed you use pedals from one though?
no
are there readily available analog foot pedals out there?
i use flight sim rudder pedals
you want symmetrical pedals, driving pedals arent
xinput is only for making a device work with a console port game that dosent have actual joystick support
any good pc game will support directinput
is analog leaning actually significant in that game?
my experience with leaning was when pubg was good(or less bad) and the meta was to just spam them to make head shots harder lol
i mean you have to lean in steps or lean+mouse wheel
arma is realism not arcade shooter
oh so you just don't get a choice in that sense
you cant just wiggle lean, there is aceleration and decel on movment
i don't think pubg is typically considered an arcade shooter too, but maybe comparatively it is
pubg is closer to arcade than realism
I miss the early PUBG days when it was scuffed.
60 FPS if you were lucky.
One map.
Good times though.
the game doesn't seem relevant anymore
i see sponsorships of pubg mobile once in a while and that's about it
if youre not tracking rounds in each mag it isnt realism
if it just has a round count for ammo and you pull full magazines out of hammer space its arcade
so cs2 got closer to realism with that logic
don't question how they just stand on top of each other
cs2 is ammo counter
learning new fps subgenres
what bro expects us to be doin
yeah did you know if you step on all 3 pedals you take a screenshot /s
lean lets you only expose your gun/head from a corner
yeah i understand that
lean+shoulder swaping is a big part of why it feels more real
irl you wouldnt just step to the left and right rapidly to peak
youd lean out
yes i understand that
actually not the shoulder swapping part, so do you switch which side you hold the gun on
yes
normal is right, but if you lean to the left with gun on right you cant go far
crtl a
i have different binds though
arma controls are a cluster so you eityher change them or study
have this monstrosity https://cdn.akamai.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/107410/manuals/Arma_3_keylayout_ENG.pdf
Tarkov is also quite nice
i only play spt/fika mostly but yeah
Someday ill play spt
i see
its better than ever
Wont you have to downgrade tarkov to run it now
they have a mod to make a second pc/client the raid host headlessly
yeah but the content has been backported.
so by default is lean just q and e?
well not quests
but they are working on quests
but with headless, pve is better than 1.0
you can have a 60fps host even with 30+ ai bots
i'm taking that pubg controls were pretty heavily inspired by arma but dumbed down
I had like 400 fps on eft sp
zero shot
oh you mean 1.0 pve. cant really compare, the bots in spt are way way better
is that frame gen? pve on offical was single threaded
You cant do frame gen on eft no?
Even with smoothmotion its blocked iirc
you can on pve as you can disable be]
but still, pve is single threaded, no shot i belive its actually 400fps. even wth top end cpus you can barely get mid 100s
Idk what to tell u the screenshot doesnt lie
they 100% can XD
Streets i was already getting 150
I have 64gb
and a 9800x3d

im saying that if you magiclly getting 400 fps on pve when everyone else is lucky to get 100 with the same hardware
Skill issue I suppose

CPU: AMD ...
"skill issue" that even the dev as admitted is an engine issue
thats pvp
pvp = ai on server, pve = ai on pc
and its single threaded so it bottle necks on a single core
a 9800x3d+4090 is lucky to get 150 on pve
It ran pretty well when I was testing my cousin's new build with a 5070
I did do pvp though
yeah pvp is fine
the issue with pve is the ai is loaded in the same thread as the rest of the game
is smoothmotion in pvp now?
idk, dont have any money in this so I dont care much more, but I hit 400 fps in pve tarkov, outside of interchange, no clue why others cant hit it
because that information isnt accurate somehow
they changed interchange so cant rlly test it either
Valve recently got a load os shipments labelled "Game Console"
Which means Machine or Frame... though why classify the Machine as a console? when they mention how its a PC too in their product page
CBP doesn't care what you market it as
Tarrifs in the US are higher on Game Consoles than on PCs and PC parts
Are you just saying that or do you know that to be true?
If the latter, what are the HS codes in question?
I heard that in the video I saw about this... xd
also
I want Steam Streaming to work when the monitor on the host machine is not on ;-;
Please....
Right, because that video creator is definitely an import specialist
why must I have my monitor on to stream games from that PC?!
You don't
i believe sunshine/moonlight works without a monitor
I've told her this before
you can probably use virtual display drivers if you want to make it work with steam's built in streaming
like US HTS code?
Indeed
WAIT NOW YOU CAN TURN THE MONITOR OFF....after you confirm the connection on host PC

Wait wtf now it isn't working again
i didn't suggest trying that because i assumed you already did with how you were so confident in the complaint
I did it before and it didn't work
And now it's not working again after that first try just now
Is it dependant on the game??
no idea
PRAGMATA worked but not distance
anyways i think games and gpu typically just needs to see a display driver to output to, so making it work without would be extra development for valve requiring implementation of a virtual display
i could see them considering it with enough requests though
so probably should complain to them instead of here
maybe the steam machine and steam frame will increase the demand too
Distance only works as controller
Blank screen on deck but it controls the game on my monitor
i'd try playing around with display settings like fullscreen/windowed
O
Same for indigo park
No reason why it wouldn't work
Auto dim
@wheat plume you can also use virtual monitors now I think
Without needing third party software
Ooo???
which recording format might be best on a fully AMD system on Fedora????
depends if u want to share it
On RDNA3 and newer AV1, on older HEVC
Regular or AV1 10bit?!
just to record and maybe upload to youtube
do u play HDR?
my monitor has the fake HDR spec... so I always leave it off
what gpu do u have?
not sure if having VRR enabled will interefer with a 60FPS recording?
whats the upload limit for this server without nitro?? I know its boosted but is it 100mb?
8mb ?
100
no boost no nitro
ur illiterate and it's 8 not 10
yeh..thats what I thought, but do you still need nitro for that?
nope
yeh but that gets overwritten when the server is boosted
100MB for the server
