i got the 9070 XT mostly because of a few reasons

• Linux works out of the box
• 8 pins for all SKUs
• Reasonably priced at the time
• Better behavior with EDIDs with DSC enabled than NVIDIA (in my experience), something to do with how the drivers and display engine work i think
• Huge step above in codec performance over RDNA 3 especially in H.264 and HEVC, even if I only use AV1 (small improvement if any)
• Efficiency and performance gains over 3080 Ti FE
• Extra VRAM is nice

Personal guess is since they also overbuilt the original ps5 to allow higher tdp if needed they didn’t trust amd to do rdna2 well and basically made it themselves and Xbox waited and used a more complete version of it
