Alright, talking tech
Great little device, sound is amazing, has tons of power too
I wish it was just a tad more expensive and made out of aluminium because... yeah, plastic sucks here
And UI is a nightmare, to go over collection of more than 200 songs there will be a ton of clicking
But firmware updates are coming almost every 2 weeks and they are fixing all the stuff people don't like, so we'll see if they'll make navigation easier hana_Yes

I've looked into those bigger air to water heat pump systems that use the same water for the boiler and floor heating, seemed pretty efficient but they're still pretty expensive to get

#

Ah makes sense. Mine's from '62 and still has some old radiators from like the 80s but I don't use them

The FAA has systems that run Windows 95 and are dependent on floppy disks. Young air traffic controllers don't even know what this tech is, let alone how to fix it if shit breaks 😄

old marlin
#

they should obviously go back to punch cards

Server's hot - better cool it

I just find it mildly amusing and incredibly worrying that this is the state of air traffic in one of the most flight intensive countries on the earth - the supposed first moon lander having people.

Changing your shit up to newer, more complex tech can sometimes bring way more issues than benefits

reef patrol
rough patrol
#

Now to be fair, it seems to be so old at this point that getting maintenance done on it seems difficult

reef patrol
#

I'd argue that Windows 95 aside, relying on floppy disks is never a good thing for something this critical. 😄

Our Win XP server has more uptime than I work here and it's probably the most stable thing we have hanaSusSips

rough patrol
#

I hope that server is air gapped and still has 5 firewalls in front of it

reef patrol
#

Sometimes old tech can be useful. I know that the largest cable tv/internet company here in Denmark used to (might still) run an Amiga to stay in charge of the low level systems. If all of the modern hardware had a fit, the Amiga would keep running, rebooting systems as needed.

#

They had a dedicated technician to keep it alive with new parts. It was just too damn reliable to replace.

#

It uh... it looked quite out of place in their top of the line server racks I tells ye 😄

Currently building a PC, it’s my first time. I am currently stuck on the PSU wiring and case wiring with the fans it has.

My issue:
No idea where any of it goes and I tried online but it isn’t well made. Just no idea where what goes where lol

  • Case: Antec C5 Black RGB
  • Motherboard: B650 Gaming X AX V2
raw zephyr
#

be more specific or take pictures 😅

analog sinew
#

fans dont go to the PSU

#

unless they are super old molex fans ig :D

#

Fans have a 4 pin connector that goes to a fan hub or the motherboard

#

but yeah gotta show us

#

for the PSU, you connect EPS 8pin for CPU, and 12vHighFailure or 8pin PCIE for GPU, then 24 pin mobo, thats it

umbral heron
#

Big 24-pin goes to the right of RAM
4/8-pin with CPU on it goes on the top left
All PCIe cables go to GPU
And SATA goes to disks nod

crimson wigeon
#

Or really they go in the one place they fit

umbral heron

tahts how you get ppl inserting display cables into motherboards instead of gpus

Anyone know what these wifi cards are called? It looks like it's socketed into a vertical M.2 socket of some kind. I need to replace it, cause the connectors are the wrong type (Mine has those "clicky" button connectors instead of screw ons)

eternal jacinth
#

hi anyone know if it’s ok to bend these with whatever force to make them fit into the PSU slot for the MOBO?

vagrant pagoda
#

Yeah that's fine

#

Some cases/mobo setups you gotta crank them

eternal jacinth
#

Ok cause it has to tilt in a different direction and end point of the wire to the connector make me have to turn it

#

with like force to be able to go into it

vagrant pagoda
#

Also you only need one 8 pin

eternal jacinth

you sure?

vagrant pagoda

100%

eternal jacinth

it has 4 other pins

vagrant pagoda

Yeah it's marketing wank

vagrant pagoda

Wouldn't matter on x3d

so you plug half of it in

but like the others said its not necessary

vagrant pagoda

You barely need a 8 pin for a non x3d

Ok so I have everything plugged in and set other than the GPU cable cause I’ll do the GPU last and it’s just a plug and done thing. I have the radiator/AIO set other than the AIO on the cpu for thermal paste. I may need some guidance on that.. well definite guidance actually lol

crimson wigeon
#

Not really, on Windows Qt apps basically look like any old app using the traditional win32 controls, or whatever they were called

analog sinew
#

but a small blob of thermal paste on and screw it down

#

follow instructions that come with it

crimson wigeon
#

And I'm all for it

analog sinew
#

then connect the cables for the radiator fans and pump

crimson wigeon
#

Cause I like that look

analog sinew
#

thats it

eternal jacinth
# analog sinew thats it

uhh I found 2 wires and I have no idea what they came from lol i’m gonna send a screenshot hopefully you can guess what they’re from? Not sure if they’re from the AIO or like maybe motherboard or something?

#

it has a usb thing to it so idk

#

it’s to the AIO screen i believe

analog sinew
#

the left one is for fans

#

its either an extender or y splitter

eternal jacinth
#

Do I need them or are they spares?

analog sinew
#

the other goes from a USB port on the mother board to that screen

#

this is a motherboard usb connector

analog sinew
#

if all ends are in that pic it's just an extension

eternal jacinth
analog sinew
#

yeah then its just an extension

eternal jacinth
#

I have no idea where to plug that USB into the motherboard ngl

analog sinew
#

consult your motherboards manual

#

it will have a list of all connectors it has

eternal jacinth
#

also should I plug that usb in once i do the thermal paste?

analog sinew
#

sure, as long as its plugged in at some point.

#

doesnt really matter. the screen seems to be a USB device and this controls it

#

usb headers look sth like this. The manual will have a diagramm where they are, there's usually several scattered about so you can pick one in a good location, since you also need one for the cases front panel.

eternal jacinth
rough osprey
#

5090 already mid again 😔

analog sinew
#

and those also go on an internal usb header

#

they're not necessarily at the front anymore but theyre just called that from ye olden days

eternal jacinth
#

uhh.. I forgot a cable what does this do lol it was hiding behind some cords

#

HD audio?

analog sinew
#

thats the front panel audio connector

#

the headphone jack on the case

eternal jacinth
#

For like jacks?

#

oh i don’t use that lol

#

i won’t need it then

digital cliff
#

yes but plug it in

eternal jacinth
#

Do I have to if i don’t use it?

#

i use usb headphones that i plug into the back of the motherboard anyway

digital cliff
#

I'm making you floof_gun

eternal jacinth
#

But it’s not needed if I don’t ever use it right? Like I can ignore that for sure?

analog sinew
#

You can ignore it, but if you do need it later it'll be a pain to connect.

digital cliff
#

I guess but what are you gonna do, just leave it hanging inside the case? takes like 5s to just plug in

marsh glade
#

It's against the law to not plug it in

eternal jacinth
#

As for the USB pins, can’t find anything online showing that lol there’s also so many pins i’m gonna take screenshots for you

eternal jacinth
analog sinew
#

tell me your mobo name

eternal jacinth
eternal jacinth
#

from gigabyte

digital cliff
#

they are usually on the bottom edge though

#

those in the picture are fan- and rgb lighting headers

analog sinew
#

yeah here

eternal jacinth
#

OHHH

digital cliff
#

yeah the one that says USB is for USB thonk

eternal jacinth
#

they’re labeled but it was hard to see

#

cause of the angle and it’s dark

#

lol

digital cliff
#

have you considered popular solutions for this problem such as:

  • electric lighting
  • living inside the sun
eternal jacinth
#

Should I plug it in for now and leave the USB laying around until I paste the AIO on the cpu I guess?

digital cliff
#

hmm

eternal jacinth
#

ok now i have another wire it’s my last one

ionic sequoia
eternal jacinth
#

it’s part of the AIO, where would this go?

analog sinew
#

thats the fans

eternal jacinth
#

it’s wired to the AIO

analog sinew
#

the block? in that case its the pump

#

put it on cpu fan

eternal jacinth
#

and yea the wire is connected to the AIO thing where you put it against the CPU

analog sinew
#

yeah the cpu fan one

#

yeah thats the pump

eternal jacinth
#

i’ll do that once I lock that into the cpu first

#

it’ll be easier it seems

#

cause it’ll be hanging and in the way.

#

ok now.. is the thermal paste part. Which i’m worried again about lol it’s a non conductive thermal paste I believe it came with the AIO but I also have no scraper to balance the thermal paste, that plastic little piece you see in videos of touching the thermal paste

analog sinew
#

you dont need to spread it

#

the pressure will do that

#

but a pea sized drop on, and remove the sticker here

#

then screw it down

eternal jacinth
#

thing is, how much do I apply? Once I squish it onto the cpu is it ok to take it off to check and see if it’s covered?

analog sinew
#

it only really needs a tiny bit.

eternal jacinth
#

copy

#

let me close the back up and lay it on its side

digital cliff
#

i'm not letting you angry_noot

analog sinew
#

but make sure to remove that plastic from the copper that would be gnarly ^^

eternal jacinth
#

this thingy

#

cpu looks good? i’m about to apply the thermal paste

analog sinew
#

yep

eternal jacinth
#

Also should i wipe it off first?

#

before i apply the paste?

marsh glade
#

Last chance to give it a taste

analog sinew
eternal jacinth
#

i am pretty sure this is non conductive? That means if a little fall off the sides I don’t have to wipe it off/worry right ?

eternal jacinth
sudden imp
#

I personally kick things with my younger

digital cliff
#

your younger what

eternal jacinth
#

sus

#

So is like thermal paste supposed to cover the entire silver looking plate of the cpu or just relatively the center of it?

#

like those corners and top

mental helm
#

Just the CPU, not the bracket

magic minnow
mental helm
#

You don't want it extending further than that, just a pea size in the middle of the chip

eternal jacinth
#

and also, what do I use to clean the top of it before applying the paste? I heard it’s good to do that and I do have some fingerprint and smear marks on it. I seen use 90% or higher alcohol and don’t use paper towels?

mental helm
#

if it's non conductive then it shouldnt be an issue, plus if you only use the recommended amount in the middle of the cpu then it shouldnt spill over

mental helm
#

but if theres no paste on it already then ig you dont really NEED to clean it

eternal jacinth
#

how do i know what’s a microfiber cloth? first time hearing that

mental helm
#

honestly if its not got paste on it already then you dont need to worry about cleaning it

eternal jacinth
#

ok

mental helm
#

thats only really if theres paste residue on it

#

imo anyway, and i never do

eternal jacinth
#

looks good

#

? cause you can see some marks on it idk if that truly matters

mental helm
eternal jacinth
#

i have no idea what’s in my house that’s like that lmao

#

ima just skip that part for now lol

#

ima put the thermal paste on

#

wish me luck

mental helm
eternal jacinth

btw it’s ok if I connect the gpu last right?

mental helm

yeah

thats fine

mental helm
eternal jacinth
mental helm
eternal jacinth

vapid tree
mental helm
mental helm
eternal jacinth

mental helm

yeah thick

eternal jacinth

mental helm

yeah thats normal

eternal jacinth

yea ok making sure

vapid tree
#

It gets a little more soft when it heats up

eternal jacinth
#

ok wish me luck

#

i’m so fkn nervous lol

mental helm
#

its designed to heat up and cool down a lot of times and conduct heat

#

thats a good thing

vapid tree
#

Don't worry, just make sure to screw down diagonally as that makes it a lot easier

#

i.e top right screw and then bottom left

#

then top left and bottom right

mental helm
vapid tree
#

That way you don't have one side fully screwed down so that you have to push the cooler down to get to the other side

eternal jacinth
#

oh shit wait

#

i forgot this nvm it says intel

#

i thought i needed this for a second

mental helm
#

you have an amd chip dont worry about that

eternal jacinth
#

MY TOES R CURLED CUZ OM NERVOUS LOL

vapid tree
eternal jacinth
#

yea was gonna say

#

i only have 2 screws lol

vapid tree
#

yee dw

mental helm
#

yeah youre past that

#

dw

eternal jacinth
#

i’m debating if i should make the cord upwards or down

vapid tree
#

Good move is still to tighten top a little and then bottom a little

#

then fully screw down both

eternal jacinth
#

i wanna make the rgb ram visible

#

wait does it matter which way this goes? the aio?

mental helm
#

ion think it makes a difference to function (not 100%) so do whatever

vapid tree
#

With top mount it doesn't matter

eternal jacinth
vapid tree
#

As the radiator is always the highest point in the loop

mental helm
#

id do the 2nd way bc funny lights

eternal jacinth
#

how hard do i press down?

#

until it touches the cou flat?

vapid tree
#

You can press down quite a bit till both screws grasp

eternal jacinth
#

cpu

mental helm
#

start by pressing enough to get the screws to bind then alternate screwing them in piece by piece

vapid tree
#

Place cooler on cpu and then press just enough till screw 1 grabs then tighten down a little and move onto screw 2

#

After screw both down fully

sudden imp
eternal jacinth
#

bottom screw or top depending which way i go

#

isn’t fitting over the screw not sure if i pull down or up hard enough idk

eternal jacinth
vapid tree
#

Can be a little tough at first but once the first one is screwed down 50% the other one is easy dw

#

Good tip for next time you're building: It's a lot easier to screw down the cooler while the motherboard is placed on It's box i.e before installing it in the case. Can apply a little more pressure that way without the motherboard bending all too much

eternal jacinth
#

do i have to re do this

#

cause it’s like struggling to fit the other screw

vapid tree
#

Paste spread looks great you're fine in that department

#

If you have a second person around that makes it a little easier as well

#

one holds down one screws down

eternal jacinth
#

i don’t

digital cliff
#

i dunno it's not rocket science, you screw the screw on

vapid tree
#

Keep trying then, you'll be fine (You really can apply quite a bit more pressure than you'd think)

analog sinew
#

yeah know that feel you can press pretty hard without it doing anything but it can be tricky to get the screws to grab

eternal jacinth
#

ok i think i got it

#

it was like not reaching all the way i believe

#

how tight do I wanna screw this down?

digital cliff
#

until it doesn't screw anymore

#

it's spring-loaded right

pale sigil
eternal jacinth
#

uh???

pale sigil
#

Personally I've been to scared

eternal jacinth

i jsut did that am i worried now

pale sigil

eternal jacinth
pale sigil
#

It's amd4

#

Don't worry

#

As fleimi said, screw till it doesn't but even not doing that is fine.

#

Personally I like not to.

eternal jacinth
#

ok but should i screw it as he said?

#

ok

#

i am gonna screw it not too tight i guess

#

i’m shitting myself rn lol

pale sigil
#

I would maybe do it till you get some resistance and make a judgement on it

#

But even if you do don't worry honestly

digital cliff
#

do as you wish ig

pale sigil
#

Also do a bit ob each side at a time

analog sinew
#

dont worry you wont break the cpu this way

pale sigil
#

Makes it easier as the more that's screwed on one side the more residence on the other.

#

Again, that's just how I do it.

analog sinew
#

screw till it stops turning, usually there is an abrupt point where it stops

mental helm
#

you wont break the cpu by tightening it, its spring loaded, plus youre incrementing it going top to bottom to top to bottom etc

#

just dont screw enough to strip the screws

analog sinew
#

yeah you'd have to use excessive force to break anything

pale sigil
#

After manyyyyyyyyyy years and manyyyyyy builds I still get a little cautious with the cpu so it's normal.

analog sinew
#

ye

eternal jacinth
#

ok i screwed it to where it took like 1-2 turns on each spin to make it turn

#

not too tight but like tight.

mental helm
#

tight enough that you're hitting a wall when you try to screw it lightly

eternal jacinth
#

i even tried to put some orsssure on moving it with my hand it feels sturdy

digital cliff
#

i install my cpus with a hammer

mental helm
eternal jacinth

ok now the gpu then the power plug

that's not good

#

read the entire thing

mental helm
#

from his manual

#

so 2+4

digital cliff
#

just look at each section where stuff plugs in, what things are called, how to install this, how to install that

#

it's all there

eternal jacinth
dull hollow
#

slot numbers are different on each motherboard 🔥 (i forgot)

digital cliff
#

yes so read the manual

#

the point of the manual is to be the instructions on how to use the product

pale sigil
eternal jacinth
#

manual doesn’t have anything that’s the issue lol

pale sigil
#

That's a bit lame

#

No pump header next to the CPU

#

@digital cliff shush

eternal jacinth
#

this is the only paper tha came with the mobo

mental helm
eternal jacinth
# pale sigil

I assume that plug to the AIO display goes in the top right correct?

digital cliff
#

point is when you don't know anything, you don't always know what to ask

#

that's why you should read all the available information first

mental helm
#

hes been using videos n pictures to communicate what he doesnt recognise

digital cliff
#

do as you wish ig

eternal jacinth
analog sinew
#

the display is the USB

#

that connector you were holding goes to CPU_FAN

eternal jacinth
#

ok but i have a question, why is it connected to “fan” when it’s just a usb display?

pale sigil
eternal jacinth
#

wait what

analog sinew
eternal jacinth
#

i’m so lost hang on

analog sinew
#

their display is connected to an internal usb2.0 connector

eternal jacinth
#

waittt

pale sigil
#

Oh wait do the fans go into the the pump

eternal jacinth
#

i got it mixed up i was confusing myself

pale sigil
#

Like Corsair

eternal jacinth
#

hang on

#

WAIT i was confusing you guys and confusing myself

analog sinew
#

dunno bout the fans

#

I've only seen one PWM connector and one usb so far

pale sigil
#

Because usually radiator fans should go into the CPU header surely

mental helm
eternal jacinth
#

i made a video

pale sigil
#

Ye

#

CPU header

#

It's like Corsair

mental helm
#

yes

#

so cpu_fan

pale sigil
#

Basically the pump powers and controls the fans

analog sinew
#

yep

pale sigil
#

Ye

#

I usually shove it behind the mobo

#

And bring it through the bottom

eternal jacinth
pale sigil
#

If it's long enough

eternal jacinth
#

like plug it in and shove the extra wiring underneath till it reaches the cpu display?

pale sigil
#

As your usb header is at the bottom

eternal jacinth
#

yea it’s long and in the way

pale sigil
#

Huh

#

Can you take a picture from above

#

If your build pls

eternal jacinth
pale sigil
#

No I meant

#

The entire system

mental helm
#

like above the case

pale sigil
#

Ye

mental helm
#

birds eye view

eternal jacinth
#

ok one sec

pale sigil
#

From the side

#

XD

eternal jacinth
#

LOL

mental helm
#

so we can see the motherboard entirely XDDD

pale sigil
#

I suspected you had it facing down

#

*laying down

eternal jacinth
eternal jacinth
pale sigil
#

Perfect

pale sigil
#

Do what I do is where the white is, shove it through a gap to go in the back of the case

#

Blue is behind the case and white at the bottom is pulling the wire through a small slot and plugging it in down there.

dull hollow
#

having the fans already in is a pain

eternal jacinth
eternal jacinth
pale sigil
#

Ye, having the fans in is going to make it difficult

#

Can you remove them

dull hollow
#

oh

pale sigil
#

Oh wait

eternal jacinth
#

yea i can where are you trying to put the wire to? under and behind the mobo or under the fans?

dull hollow
# eternal jacinth

theres no gap at the bottom?
use the holes on the right side of the motherboard

pale sigil
#

Is the threaded wire from the case fans

dull hollow
#

you can still route it through the back and then back in higher

pale sigil
#

Basically wherever you can have it behind the case as much as possible and have it come out somewhere close to the usb header

eternal jacinth
#

OH WAIT

#

HES RUGHT

#

ILL explain in video

pale sigil
eternal jacinth
#

it’s already plugged in btw @pale sigil

#

idk why the video quality is poor

#

should be 4k at 120fps

pale sigil
#

Ok now I'm confused

eternal jacinth
#

LMAO

dull hollow
#

maybe smth like this (red is where to run it and yellow is enter/exit)

#

since you dont have any holes under the motherboard

pale sigil
#

Why is that wire down there

#

Id that coming from the radiator fans

eternal jacinth
pale sigil
#

The one you were holding

eternal jacinth
eternal jacinth
pale sigil
#

Oh wait ignore me

#

Yes

eternal jacinth
pale sigil
#

What you said in the video

#

Is correct

#

Or if you can't do that do what takmon suggested

#

But that's more of a cable management thing

dull hollow
pale sigil
eternal jacinth
#

oh wait i don’t have a open form the bottom side

#

i’m gonna try to cable manage it

dull hollow
#

either way would work and hide the cable more

eternal jacinth
#

brb may do what @dull hollow said

pale sigil
#

It'll work regardless XD

#

It's just literally management Vs function

dull hollow
#

it doesnt even have to come out from the side

#

it can come out from the top and straight down

dull hollow
#

if the connection is on that side ig

pale sigil
dull hollow
pale sigil
#

Damn, I was gonna make a joke.

dull hollow
#

i think ive seen clips of it

pale sigil
#

He naps the entire prison with tattoos that just look like biblical nonsense

dull hollow
#

sounds familiar

pale sigil
#

I was gonna make a joke we be making a map with the computer.

dull hollow
#

ah yes i saw this scene \

rough osprey
#

is this # pc building guide

eternal jacinth
#

@dull hollow @pale sigil

mental helm
pale sigil
#

Neat

mental helm
eternal jacinth
pale sigil
#

Your reward is +5 FPS

pale sigil

Disclaimer: Not applicable to 1% lows

dull hollow
eternal jacinth
#

@analog sinew @dull hollow

#

@pale sigil zip tied and out of the way now

mental helm
dull hollow
eternal jacinth
#

now.. the trickier one..

eternal jacinth
#

no ssd or hdd

dull hollow
#

okay nice 👍

eternal jacinth
#

don’t need tbh

mental helm
#

gpu time

eternal jacinth
#

not yet

dull hollow
#

just making sure lol

eternal jacinth
#

I gotta figure out where to put this wire lol

mental helm
#

cable management is for losers

eternal jacinth
dull hollow
eternal jacinth
#

the cpu fan wire

eternal jacinth
#

it’s so damn long

pale sigil
mental helm
pale sigil
#

Shove it into the back and then bring back

#

If that makes sense.

eternal jacinth
#

like this?

#

does it matter if the wire is touching the sides of the mother or the motherboard itself at all?

dull hollow
#

nah it shouldnt matter

mental helm
#

the cables are shielded so no

eternal jacinth
#

it only matters when metal is touching right?

mental helm
#

his ram should be in 2+4 no?

dull hollow
#

and cpu fan goes right here, white-ish 4 pin

dull hollow
eternal jacinth
#

ok so a friend said it shouldn’t have to be because of this

#

let me take a screenshot

pale sigil
#

Is this your first build btw

eternal jacinth
eternal jacinth
#

expensive one too 😭

pale sigil
#

You're doing good.

eternal jacinth
#

listen, i re did my ENTIRE SETUP BTW

mental helm
#

yeah youre doing v well for a first build

eternal jacinth
#

i spent over like 4,000 in a week

#

I bought a new desk

#

drawers, monitor arms painted my room, etc

pale sigil
#

My cousin still drives 2 hours to my house to do this stuff lol

#

Because he's to scared to do anything other than basic stuff

balmy vector
#

now you gotta buy an audio interface, an xlr mic, $1,000 headphones

mental helm
eternal jacinth
#

Basically I said shouldn’t the RAM have a space right? He was like depends shows me the motherboard the other day and he said it shouldn’t have to because it has that A1-A2 next to each other

pale sigil
#

Just don't get magnet if you havr a wooting

eternal jacinth
mental helm
eternal jacinth
mental helm
balmy vector
mental helm
#

Put it in the 2nd and 4th slot

pale sigil
mental helm
#

You want it in A2, and B2

pale sigil
#

It's known to mess with hall effect switches

eternal jacinth
dull hollow
#

these 2

mental helm
#

Dual Channel memory

pale sigil
balmy vector
pale sigil
mental helm
#

more data paths = higher speed of transmission

dull hollow
mental helm
#

If you bought a 6000Mhz kit, you wanna get 6000Mhz out of it

dull hollow
#

its like merging a 2 lane highway into 1 lane pepe_yes (if done incorrectly)

alpine patio
dull hollow
#

technically its tech

alpine patio
#

yea that one is probably just for peripherals

#

but pc gear made me thing of pc parts

#

any last minute changes i should do

#

ordered this today, they will be building it tmr

alpine patio
#

HUH who has a what now?

dull hollow
#

1k for a 9070xt 😭

alpine patio
#

its sgd

dull hollow
#

oh wait

dull hollow
alpine patio
#

so 777

mental helm
#

yeah thats like 750usd ish

#

not too far off the mark

dull hollow
alpine patio
#

still high, but like honestly everything is

#

any other 9070xt is like 1400 sgd/1000usd

dull hollow
#

my 9070xt was 760 and i got it launch day lol

#

paying for cooler looks pepe_yes

#

i couldve bought at 600

mental helm
# alpine patio

i mean it looks like a decent spec list wha nothing glaring you need to change imo

#

maybe psu in terms of upgradability but like

alpine patio
#

the motherboard idk

mental helm
dull hollow
#

motherboard is fine

mental helm
#

mobo is fine no?

alpine patio
#

🫡 i just saw

#

was considering a 650

#

cos not much diff

dull hollow
#

i think the only major difference is that the 850 is guaranteed to ship with amd 9000 bios

#

some b650s need a bios update

#

but youre getting a 7000 so its good

eternal jacinth
#

guys…

#

I dropped the PC… it shattered

alpine patio
mental helm
alpine patio
#

just the case?

mental helm
#

how the fuck

alpine patio
#

@mods

#

ban this mofo

mental helm
#

mods ban

eternal jacinth
#

i was fixing the wire management

steady sail
eternal jacinth
#

Ok but as for the RAM

#

slot into 2 and 4

eternal jacinth
#

right?

pale sigil
#

Do you by any chance have a ceramic floor

mental helm
#

yes

dull hollow
#

yes

mental helm
#

NOT THE TILES

eternal jacinth
#

A2 and B2 as it shows here?

balmy vector
#

Eat the chunks

mental helm
pale sigil
#

If so make sure to place your side panel on it while you build

eternal jacinth
#

🫡 brb

pale sigil
#

don't actually do that

mental helm
#

He's so unaware 😭

pale sigil
#

That's why I put that message hahahaha

dull hollow
#

wait i just realized i had the same motherboard

#

i might be a lil slow

steady sail
#

xD

dull hollow
#

i cant even take a picture cause the fatahh cpu cooler is covering my ram

#

and its a blackout build so cant see much anyways

eternal jacinth
mental helm
#

He got it anyway

dull hollow
eternal jacinth
pale sigil
#

Tiled floor

#

For example

eternal jacinth
#

still confused lol

dull hollow
eternal jacinth
#

@mental helm

mental helm
pale sigil
#

It'll explode baby

dull hollow
eternal jacinth
mental helm
#

NO

dull hollow
pale sigil
pale sigil
eternal jacinth
#

what???

mental helm
#

even if you set your tempered glass panel down SO GENTLY, the tiles will break it

eternal jacinth
#

It just shatters if it’s placed on tile floor?

mental helm
#

Don't put tempered glass on tiles EVER

pale sigil
#

Yes

eternal jacinth
#

why does it do that? tf

eternal jacinth
#

My room is made out of carpet lol

#

0 tiles in my house

mental helm
#

You're good then

pale sigil
#

Kinetic energy

eternal jacinth
#

before you say that

#

i’m in those fake wood floors

mental helm
#

Yeah he's been told about grounding

pale sigil
#

Tempered glass is fragile on corners

eternal jacinth
#

I just bought these a few months ago, it’s like fake wood panels slapped on the concrete cause i removed carpet in my entire living room

pale sigil
#

Or precise kinetic transfer, like um

eternal jacinth
#

The only places that have carpet is the rooms now

#

Are you saying I should wear socks and rub them really fast on carpet and touch my motherboard right?

mental helm
#

Yeah of course

pale sigil
#

Yes

eternal jacinth
#

ok that’s next after gpu

mental helm
#

we call that Jump Starting your PC

eternal jacinth
#

that cpu fan cable is correct? double checking

dull hollow
#

short-booting the pc the wrong way edition

mental helm
#

yeah, its in cpu_fan so should be

mental helm
eternal jacinth
#

even if it’s in the wrong slot let’s say any of these cables somehow, worst can happen is it doesn’t boot right?

dull hollow
#

uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

#

fans probably wouldnt work

#

or you cant control them

#

smth like that

eternal jacinth
#

but nothing will ultimately “break” yea?

dull hollow
#

perchance

eternal jacinth
#

NO

#

GIVE ME A YES OR NO

mental helm
#

i mean theres always a risk of it wha

eternal jacinth
#

now i’m back to worrying

dull hollow
#

day in the life of plugging random wires into random prongs

eternal jacinth
#

i’ve been stressed the entire week 😭 that’s why i’ve been double checking, double asking, etc

mental helm
#

if you paid attention n did what you were told n read the relevant manual parts, youre gonna be fine

#

slap the GPU in, plug it up n boot it

dull hollow
#

just double check every wire to make sure its plugged in all the way

eternal jacinth
#

ok brb

mental helm
eternal jacinth
#

oo

#

ok what are these

steady sail
#

oh and dont worry its gonna take a while for the first boot

eternal jacinth
dull hollow
#

gpu sag brackets

mental helm
#

thats normal that it takes a minute or two to boot

steady sail
dull hollow
eternal jacinth
#

how long long?

dull hollow
#

could be a minute, could be 10

mental helm
#

longest i've seen is like 8 minutes

eternal jacinth
#

Should I connect a monitor to the GPU or test to see if it actually runs first?

dull hollow
#

well ideally you wouldve done that outside of the case

#

but not everyone wants to do that lol

eternal jacinth
#

wdym outside the case

dull hollow
#

like build everything up outside the case to test parts to boot up

eternal jacinth
#

oh..

dull hollow
#

but its not required to do that

#

its just easier

eternal jacinth
#

But if i turn it on without a monitor and everything lights up, im good yea?

dull hollow
#

welll....... you should still at least connect a monitor to the gpu

eternal jacinth
#

before i try to first test it?

mental helm
#

should def have a monitor plugged in when you boot

dull hollow
#

lights just means it gets power

#

doesnt mean itll boot

eternal jacinth
#

ok so before i actually press the power button, put a monitor up to see if it actually works, not just the lights

dull hollow
mental helm
#

yeah, plug a monitor in when you boot

eternal jacinth
#

cause i seen videos of ppl building pc’s and use no monitor but boot it for the thing to run and we’re like it works lol

dull hollow
#

gpu in, plug in gpu, plug in monitor and first boot is ready

#

i wouldve left cable management till after the first boot dogekek

eternal jacinth
#

you forgot to mention to be on carpet

dull hollow
#

oh btw you should use the GPU sag bracket

eternal jacinth
#

what’s the best way to put down a gpu? on its side or back

dull hollow
#

no one likes saggy gpus and it can potentally damage it over time

eternal jacinth
dull hollow
#

id say on the fans

steady sail
mental helm
#

just put it on carpet

dull hollow
#

or you can put it sideways

eternal jacinth
#

ok which bracket does it even go into?

dull hollow
#

top slot under the cpu

eternal jacinth
#

silver one?

dull hollow
#

yes

mental helm
#

top pcie slot

#

just under your m.2

eternal jacinth
dull hollow
#

make sure you take out the uh.... whats it called

mental helm
#

those

dull hollow
#

yeah those

mental helm
#

back panel grate thingies

eternal jacinth
#

which one? don’t i need to take out 2 of them?

dull hollow
#

uhh depends on the card

eternal jacinth
#

cause damn gpu is huge

#

it’s a 5080

dull hollow
#

try lining it up with the gpu and then see which one you have to take out

mental helm
#

^^

eternal jacinth
dull hollow
#

it seems like you have to remove 3

steady sail
#

most likely u have to remove 3 or 4 xd

dull hollow
#

but im not sure which 3

steady sail
#

gpu slot covers

dull hollow
#

could be the first 3 or the 3 after the first one

dull hollow
eternal jacinth
#

i think it’s the first 2?

#

the 3 below the first one yea?

dull hollow
#

triple slot card

mental helm
#

line your card up with the pcie slot and look to see which ones are in the way

#

its likely 2-4 you have to remove

dull hollow
pale sigil
#

Must resist....

eternal jacinth
steady sail
steady sail
#

just do it

pale sigil
#

I don't wanna buy new mobo and ram XD

mental helm
#

n see how it sits

mental helm
dull hollow
eternal jacinth
dull hollow
#

oh

pale sigil
eternal jacinth
#

what about these long ones and the others?

mental helm
eternal jacinth
#

all of them are?

dull hollow
#

its gigabyte, i have the same sag bracket system

mental helm
dull hollow
eternal jacinth
#

let me check

dull hollow
#

wait a second.......

#

i dont think itll work cause you have fans at the bottom of your case

#

and the sag bracket doesnt mount to the case

#

this is the base of the sag bracket system

dull hollow
#

unless its somehow perfectly in line with the middle of 2 fans, i dont see this working

unkempt lake
#

And you know that

mental helm
#

if you cant get it right in the middle of the fans then you might have to get a sag bracket that mounts horizontally

dull hollow
#

you can order sag bracket online that mount either to the back of the case or over the fans

mental helm
#

one that you screw into the expansion slots

unkempt lake
dull hollow
mental helm
#

i was thinking more like this depending on clearance

dull hollow
pale sigil
eternal jacinth
#

bruh..

mental helm
#

something like this too

dull hollow
#

im guessing your gpu is somewhere around this big

analog sinew
#

just put pc on the side no holder needed

vapid ruin
analog sinew
#

there seems to be a small gap here maybe sth can fit between fans and case

vapid ruin
#

bad thing is, depending on where the pc is, you can feet the heat.

dull hollow
eternal jacinth
#

what are these even for first off and the the sag bracket it has some holes what does that even go to?

dull hollow
#

okay so

analog sinew
#

the same place the GPU is screwed down on

#

on the slot covers

dull hollow
analog sinew
#

oh

dull hollow
#

it goes on the opposite end

analog sinew
#

it looks like it tho SwitchyStare

dull hollow
#

wait

#

lemme get a pic of mine

eternal jacinth
#

they have screw holes and i found where they possibly screw into the gpu

dull hollow
#

a little dusty, dont mind that

analog sinew
#

oh those on rails

pale sigil
dull hollow
eternal jacinth
#

there is screw spots there

dull hollow
#

no its not meant to go into the fans

eternal jacinth
#

i’m saying there’s space

#

left of the fans

dull hollow
#

i highly doubt your gpu is short enough for that space
