often I feel like people go into linux with tunnelvision on expecting everything to work exactly like it does on windows and then when it doesn't they crucify it as horrible and unusable

sure there are actual valid annoyances and issues that sometimes take you hours to debug, but for 9/10 times you just need to adjust your workflow just a tiny bit and everything just works

for gaming especially it's hard to beat just downloading steam and clicking play on titles, can't remember a time when that didn't work for me

Yeah if all your gaming is just that it's fine, but when you want to say mod games it gets tricky and you have to know that the virtual C drive is in steamlibrary/compatdata/appid.. and if you want to run a modding tool well you can try protontricks-launch but don't launch the game from there as it will all be wrong so you have to do crazy launch options in Steam
