#

oh they gonna do that

rain quiver
#

Same but i still like the current fes too

steady sail
#

i cant wait for a 6 slot design for the 5090 cards

cursive summit
#

I honestly don't like any of Nvidia's reference designs

#

They are kinda... boring?

rain quiver
#

3090ti msrp’d at $2k 😳 i had no idea

#

So they lowered it by $400 for the 4090

steady sail
rain quiver
#

Yeah it for sure wont be more than $2k for the 5090 no way

steady sail
#

like this is cool as well

cursive summit
#

And yeah, that one, I really don't like

#

Too many.. edges..

distant tapir
#

5090

steady sail
#

the gold version was cool as well

cursive summit
#

I kinda like the weird offset fans of the newer Nvidia reference cards, with the fan on the back and fan in the front

#

Good for cooling, in and out

rain quiver
#

Blacked out 4080s look nice as hell

#

The other 40 series ones look ugly in comparison

cursive summit
#

Ngl lads, the sexiest card I know is the RX 580

#

So... hot..

#

It's just perfect

rain quiver
#

Reminds me of the xfx

#

Minus the red

cursive summit
#

And it was a good card too lol

steady sail
#

like where is the difference

cursive summit
#

It's not tiny and cute

#

But Nvidia looks cool too

steady sail
#

copy paste design thats looking bigger and bigger

cursive summit
#

Polaris was just so cute

rain quiver
#

They shoulda blacked out the 4090 too

steady sail
#

like the difference between 7900 xtx and the 6950XT is minimal but still nice

rain quiver
#

I also love that its not plastic

steady sail
#

yeah

rain quiver
#

Im praying my current gpu doesn’t lose a ton of value since i cant sell it before the new ones are out

#

Unless i wanna stop playing games for a few weeks

rain quiver
steady sail
#

i think most reference cards built by XFX

Im talking about this one

my favorite is still the Red Devil cards

Nvidia is based on rumored specs unlikely to raise the bar very high with next gen, they are remaining on current process node as far as I remember

#

The only big thing will be the 5090 and that is supposed to be insanely huge

rough osprey
#

the others one all kinda have some amount of gamer aesthetic

cursive summit
#

5080 and lower are supposedly very disappointing next gen, but we'll see

rain quiver
#

gddr7 and whatever new feature they come up with

rough osprey
#

although nvidia should remove all the leds

cursive summit
#

That will help but afaik memory bandwidth isn't an issue for Nvidia

rain quiver
cursive summit
#

None of their upcoming cards from leaked specifications look good

steady sail
#

5050 not gonna be a gpu maybe on mobile only

rain quiver
#

Well their 5070ti is basically a cheaper 5080 so

cursive summit
#

Other than 5090 but that's 2500$ lol

rain quiver
#

Nah it wont be $2.5k no way

#

$900 more than a 4090 doesnt seem realistic

#

Especially when you consider that the 4090 is $400 cheaper than the 3090ti

steady sail
#

not really

rough osprey

We don’t really know where it fits into the performance stack so could be 500 or 900 etc.

rough osprey

nvidia got so much money now that they wanna give back to the gamer community

cursive summit

RTX 5070 I defo can see being 700$

#

Ti 900, 4080 1300

#

5060 will start at 400/500 dogekek

or might 5060 gonna be 350-400$ 5060 Ti is 450-500$

Tbf 5060 looks so shit I wouldn't pay more than 350 for it so I hope it's that

What's your take on Dbrand supposedly posting actual dimensions and the layout of 2 in a case product before Nintendo even announced it

#

Cause it was mega weird

cursive summit

Some journos reached out if they were trolling and they said it's the real thing

latent mural
#

i miss my ds lite

cursive summit
#

That really confused me tbf, I dunno what Dbrand is doing

#

I mean, I'd get if they just predicted the layout for preorder purposes and will just tweak it according to specifications later but it's kinda weird to even do that

#

Some Chinese companies did the same, and knowing how Nintendo is, they can't be too happy

#

At this point we kinda know everything about the 2, system specifications, the look, the software and launch title was even leaked

#

It's just up to Nintendo to actually put it on sale lol

magic minnow

The ghost case for the S24U made the customers wait idk how long and then they they overlooked a microphone cut out at the bottom dead

Eh, happens to the best of us

Even Valve had their QC problems and that's everyone's favourite company nowadays

#

Imo you can have bad QC like Noctua did or Arctic, but if you fix the problem and issue a free recall, then it's a sign of good faith

#

The recent fan wobble thingy or something with Noctua and Liquid Freezer II iirc had some major problems, all were fixed for free

If they take care of customers, it's a fine company even if they do some weird marketing choices

Ultra-low latency memory with AMD EXPO for Ryzen 9800X3D Lexar presents ARES DDR5-6000 CL26 memory.  Gamers considering building AM5-based systems face the choice of pursuing optimal memory speeds or higher frequencies at the cost of an uneven Infinity Clock ratio. By choosing memory within the 6000 to 6400 MT/s range, considered the sweet spot ...

#

Lexar don't make their own right?

Yeah, lots of people unfortunately don't know how CL works... We should use ns honestly

Pretty nuts to get down to CL26 with DDR5

#

That's near DDR4 territory on fast memory

umbral heron
#

8.67ns, that is really fast hanaSusSips

cursive summit
#

I also like the price tbf, it's not bad, 130 for 32GBs of that

ashen spindle
#

For most cases it also doesn’t matter anymore especially if you aren’t cpu bound when gaming

cursive summit
#

if you don’t primarily are ?

#

GPUs are still the big thing though, at QHD I doubt you'd be CPU bound often

ashen spindle
#

And even when cpu bound that doesn’t mean memory bound always and the. That sometimes ist even latency could but clock speed etc.

#

So while it’s nice it’s really less of an issue the newer your rig is

umbral heron
# digital cliff me o/

The higher the frequency the more cycle clocks will result in the same latency
So for DDR5-6000, with 3000MHz frequency CL30 will result in 10ns latency (3000000000 cycles per second / 30 cycles = 10 nanoseconds)
But it'll be the same latency for let's say DDR4-3200, 1600Mhz frequency CL16
So with frequency more or less doubling from DDR4 to DDR5, we will also see twice as big CL, despite the fact latency is the same hana_Yes

ashen spindle
#

Basically mhz number says how many time per second data gets moved and latency is just how quick it moves from ram to cpu in such a cycle

Disregard CL, acquire 20ghz RAM, CL200

pale sigil
barren pike

/dev/md<something> would be the software RAID, not the encrypted device living on it.

Unless it encrypts the disks and then raids them.

the disk is not encrypted, however some folders are.

#

mount /dev/md/PleasantNAS:2 /home/ubuntu/test -o ro

i dont think ill ever encrypt asgain ahah, this is hassle, i can access the none encyrped files

I wouldn't know just how Synology setups their disks. But you just have to work through the layers of different volumes (and potentially partitions) until there's a valid file system at the end.

#

I have the Meze Audio Albas for home, and the Oriveti Bleqk Lowmasters for the gym playlist

#

I just wanted a couple pairs that could be passively driven without a need for an amp

leaden kiln
#

I want to get a pair of open backs to keep at my desk really
Might at some point

leaden kiln

CPU made for something else performs worse in other parts? What a shocker

#

And they don’t even get it right it’s not zen1 based

#

I bet it’s the same guy who made an article about mi300x losing in some pointless benchmark to a 14900k lol

#

ke4 are great

leaden kiln
#

they are comfy but my dongle dac just kills the battery on my phone

#

I might get a bluetooth dac because it's so bad

#

maybe a btr11, is cheap

To be fair though I'm a dynamic driver fan all day long because I like big boomy bass

Also I'm a crazy fuck who uses Bluetooth for iems

leaden kiln
#

I'm gonna do that soon
This dongle drains way too much

vagrant pagoda

It's nice

I have beaters with fiio 5s and use a ifi with my nice ones

nimble arch
#

I'm using Sennheiser IE 200s as my first IEMs and they're very good. Don't think I'll be going back to headphones any time soon.

#

Especially as a glasses wearer, so many good headphones just clamp a little too much.

hey guys, I’m switching from a 3060 to a 4070, how big is the difference but also should I replace anything else if I’m putting in a 4070?

#

my pc is compatible with a 4060 and 4070 btw

cursive summit
#

Provide full PC specs

reef patrol
umbral heron
#

I believe your PC is compatible with any PCIe GPU as long as PSU can handle it hanaSusSips

reef patrol
#

Does the new GPU fit in length?

cursive summit
#

Did I not notice the full PC specs somewhere lel

dusky plume
#

Yeah my PSU can handle it and the GPU fits and such

#

I can send the full PC specs in a few mins hang on

dusky plume
#

my fps with the 3060 is 600 in valorant idk much abt pcs LMAO

#

I just know I need to switch some things out for it to perform a bit better but also just upgrade it in general bc it’s abt 3-4 years old now

#

the cpu is:

AMD RYZEN 7 5800 8-Core Processor

#

I forgot how to find my full specs lmao

cursive summit
#

Zen 3 is still fine, getting old but it's okay

dusky plume
#

Yeah I know abt that but I do wanna replace some things, just not sure what would be best with a 4070

cursive summit
#

You can try running System Information if you are on Windows, it'll tell you most specs of your PC outside of case and PSU

#

Case and PSU you'll have to figure out yourself by looking at what you have

dusky plume
#

Well it was a prebuilt but it’s able to be customized freely

cursive summit
#

You getting a cheap 4070 or are you buying around the MSRP of that card? Cause it's better to get the Super

dusky plume
#

Prob just gonna get the super

#

Bc I talked to a few ppl who manufactured the PC (Lenovo) and it’s compatible with the 4070 and up

cursive summit
#

If you are not an Nvidia absolutist, RX 7900GRE has better performance and more VRAM

#

What prebuilt model is it

#

I guess some sort of a Legion

dusky plume
#

Lenovo Legion T5, I got it 4 years ago as my first PC

#

It was around $1,000 I believe

cursive summit
#

Yeah I've seen it a few times pop up

dusky plume
#

It’s actually a pretty good performing PC in the long run, and I’m glad it’s customizable

#

Because I can just mod it if I need to/want to

#

And I’m looking to do so, just need some advice tbh- never done it before

cursive summit
#

I can't see one with a Zen 3

#

Prolly some legacy model

dusky plume
#

I believe so, I’m not 100% sure let me check again

cursive summit
#

It is

#

Legion T5 26AMR5 I bet

dusky plume
#

Yeah that one

cursive summit
#

Yeah it's an older one they refreshed the design since

dusky plume
#

Surprisingly, it hasn’t had any issues after 4 years

dusky plume
#

Mostly because I’ve kept it in good health and always updated drivers and such

cursive summit
#

It's got between 350W to 850W PSU lol

#

I'm guessing 650W, it'll be fine for a 4070

dusky plume
#

The PSU is what I always struggle to find on my PC lmfao

cursive summit
#

It's the thing that's with number 11

#

Damn they are really stingy with USB ports, the fuck is that

dusky plume
#

Ah okay, that makes sense

cursive summit
#

4 USB?

dusky plume
#

Yeah I know 💀

#

But luckily I have a monitor that has a few USB ports as well

cursive summit
#

Oh god is that why people buy screens with USB hubs nowadays

dusky plume
#

Not like I really need many anyways

cursive summit
#

Anyways, if you can open that case

dusky plume
#

I’m scared to open it lol, I feel like I’ll accidentally break it

cursive summit
#

The PSU is on the bottom left, if it has an information sticker, look for a number that's [number number number W]

#

That's the wattage

dusky plume
#

I was gonna have an actual tech switch the things out for me bc I’m scared lmao

cursive summit
#

There's nothing scary about opening a PC

dusky plume
#

I’ve never done it before, this is basically my first time thinking abt modding my PC and switching things out

#

I never thought of it until a few months ago when I felt as if I wanted some better performance and such even though it performs quite well- I feel like it has more potential

cursive summit
#

Looking at that case it seems it's a sliding panel, all you would have to do is unscrew these two screws and slide the panel to the left and it'll take off

dusky plume
#

And luckily this thing is customizable so I will open the PC case soon and see the wattage

cursive summit
#

Then check the information on that PSU, and close it back up

umbral heron
#

Just use dome duct tape to hold side panel, so you won't have to open it each time hanaAYAYA

cursive summit
#

You'll break nothing it's fine

crimson wigeon
#

That's a lot of ports!

dusky plume
#

Like I’m tech savvy but not with PCS as you can tell 💀

cursive summit
#

There's nothing "PC" about opening a case

#

The PC part comes when you are actually connecting parts together

dusky plume
#

I meant in terms of specs and gpus and stuff

cursive summit
#

Just unscrew those 2 screws, slide the thing open, vacuum out the dust if you want, read the information on PSU, and close it back up

#

It's an older case design with those sliding panels, I like em but they kind of got replaced with clipons and tempered glass with 4 knob-screws

dusky plume
#

Yeah I’ve noticed that part, I’ve been looking at new PC’s but I figured since it’s customizable, I might as well do that until it shits the bed eventually

cursive summit
#

If you aren't replacing that motherboard and it still seems fine, it'll be okay

#

You can buy a 5700X3D and it'll be a CPU upgrade, if you want to do that, it'll slot into that motherboard without you needing to buy one

dusky plume
#

Oh no, the motherboard is perfectly fine

cursive summit
#

But a GPU upgrade will be more important

dusky plume
#

I’m definitely going to upgrade the GPU and CPU for the most part

cursive summit
#

Then a 5700X3D/5800X3D is what you are looking for, and a 4070S

#

PSU will prolly support that Super as long as it's not a 400W model lol, and even then it prolly will

dusky plume
#

I believe it’s 650 from what I remember

cursive summit
#

So yeah you should just unscrew those 2 screws, open the case and figure out what that PSU is rated for

#

If you are sure it's a 650W, then it's fine

umbral heron
#

And 5800X3D is not worth it

cursive summit
#

In edge cases it'll be a major uplift

#

Like BG3 and such

#

That cache is magic

dusky plume
#

I usually play Valorant, CS, sometimes Fortnite and a few other games

cursive summit
#

Meh then that CPU will suffice

#

Just get a GPU

dusky plume
#

Yeah that’s what I was thinking lol

cursive summit
#

And you'll need to open that case for that GPU anyways so, open that case and figure out what for sure that PSU is, and vacuum it out havo

#

PCs accumulate dust, clean it up

dusky plume
#

I shall do so once I have breakfast lol, thank you for your help though- I barely know anything abt PC’s and stuff

cursive summit
#

50 seconds

#

Putting it back on is the same as removing it

#

Also you'll need to make sure that the PSU has 2 8-pin connectors, one that's slotted into your GPU (that is probably an 8 pin, you can count how many wires it has and that's the amount of pins), and a free 8-pin

#

I looked it up and RTX 3060 seems to use only 1, 4070S uses 2

#

With proprietary PSUs they might come with no free PSU cables and just the amount it needs which would be a bummer and you'd need to upgrade that

steady sail
#

uhm i think 4070 supers uses the 12vhpw

cursive summit
#

They are I think either 2 8s or the vhpw, either way the GPU comes with an adapter so it's a non issue

steady sail
#

yeah thats true

#

i mean the connector is still an issue but KEKL

cursive summit
#

They are ugly as shit though

#

And where do the little 4 pins even slot into?

#

Just dangle there lol?

umbral heron
#

Weren't 40 series coming with fixed 12V-2x6s?

#

Pretty sure there's no AIB anymore with 8-pins on Nvidia side
