I could make it to the size of the whole monitor
Gimme a sec
There's no limit to that
That's accesibility feature
the mouse getting big when you shake it? thats intentional...as for getting this big? I doubt that part is intentional
that's the worst way to do it ๐
its how MacOS does it too
But you can turn it off
I like the powertoys spotlight tbh
Yep
wtf is gateron doing, they have already announced a new HE switch in octobre
like ???????
just in case you don't find it
is every new switch from them relevant for less than a month now
MOAR JADES
why is there no size cap
Hi yimi
Nope, there's not
might have been a bug but has been promoted to feature
Why would there be? It's fun
new buds dropped!!
Hi Mega
connect a mouse jiggler
at least the cursor is vector based and doesnt get all chonky pixel xd
at first it did
No, it's bitmap, it gets very chonky after a while
Same
๐ oh
New buds are dropping for me next week (hopefully).
nice, what are you getting?
that's how chinese companies work
just make a new product when you finish making one product
Kefine Delci.

cherry MX celebrates their 40th birthday, meanwhile jade pro maxes are already irrelevant after half a month
I dont quite remember, was there an ethernet spec that makes more sense to use for an outdoor cable or is it all the sam if I used an armored cable or put it into a duct?
dont remember if something like 5e or 6a just increases the signal or also makes it more robust
I think I still have leftover cable ducts so I just put it inside that and should be fine
nah no high speed needed
96M per CCD
Time to upgrade to 9950X3D once it releases
this was so satisfying to unbox, it had iphone level of box fitment
800 is single CCD
7800X3D has 96M too
yea and it has 96 in one
while the other have 128 in 2
so the 800 has 50% more per CCD?
Yeah lol the box is great
different amount of base L3 cache
96+32 in 7950X3D
So 9800 will most likely have 96M too
I mean that is the image they included?
oh wait thats the combined one uhhh
two options, its 64mb on both then or its bridged and 128 that both can access maybe
thats kinda scarey, if its dropping from 96 to 64 that could hurt
and its the same iodie so theres no sharing
maybe that allows higher clocks
maybe, but if its thinner, it may be prone to cracking
dont think its thinner just more dark silicon to transfer the heat
so the dimensions of a 64 and 96mb cache chiplet would be the same
we dont know if its the same chiplet as before
since the base l3 in zen5 has shrunk quite a lot it could be a different layout
physically shrunk, not the amount
yea but i thought the stacking process was far too expensive to be usable for now
cause the yield compounds
guess we will see when we know the prices xD
8 x3d cores and 2x6 z5?
good cpu prices waiting room
No 1x12 z5C
wouldnt fit in the socket
Would diffusing 12c die make sense for only one chip?
and would have needed a new iod likely
Other than that maybe 9900x could use it
Y tho? It uses the same connection for Bergamo vs genoa no?
the client iod can probably only connect to 2 ccds
idk if it can connect to c cores, and the c cores chiplet would be too big for the socket still probably
Which is why I said 12c not 16c but it does in fact physically fit rn
does 12c fit if we a ssume they make a custom die for that? idk the dimensions
you need to look at zen5 cores they are bigger
16c would probably fit assuming 5c is as efficient as 4c and 12c would be ez even if it's worsr
can use zen4 numbers
Yea but zen5c isn't out yet no?
Holding up on stage isn't condusive to mm sizing
yeah but we know socket sizes and all can can make out from that if the entire chiplet is bigger or not
not accurate but that its bigger
Hello wootgang
We had good cpu prices 3 months ago
๐
not really :<
I also really hope for strix halo desktop boards
My 7800x3d disagrees
It was previously under $400, wait for sale
Now yeah, 3 months ago no
๐
I said had for a reason
3 months ago it still wasn't close to a good price
425cad is a good price tho

Like the embedded ones miniforum sell?
no like the sketchy laptop cpu atx motherboards but not sketchy pls
nope
lav mic
dont think you can even find a lav mic that cheap?
rtx voice, dont have RTX gpu just GTX
i just bought a pair of moondrop mc1s for $25
those + scissors = lav mic so im sure you can get just a lav mic for that
ok.... what mic for 50 then?
you can use rtx voice on a gtx card

too much!
for example even the classic pennypincher zalman ZM-mic
my bad the one I found listed here was mislabeled
Oh ....
There's no reason to enable Secure Boot to be honest
well the question was for a good mic
really??
it is good

people have been using sub-30โฌ mics for 2 decades and only in the last 2 years have people started considering anything under 100 bad
This???
yeah โฌ20-30 mics are more than fine for most people who'll just use it for voicechat or some video calls
Yeah that one served me well enough for years until the cable broke and I didn't feel like resoldering yet again
my brother used one of those for years too
I love how easy it is to manage Wooting devices on Bazzite, once you enable Wootiing support in the Bazzite installer, it manages the udev rules and everything for you :D
Just updated my keyboard firmware cause I got a notification that there was one
yeah that mic is like the go-to if you only wanna spend like a tenner
they just break super easy
o..
I want a led display with the bongo cat hitting the keyboard when a button is pressed.
i loved using this as a png
i forgot what program its called though i havent used it in a while
it was customizable too
it accurately tracked which keys you pressed and also has mouse tracking
you could choose which mouse bongo was using
what about this mic?
do you plan on singing into it
karaoke!!
thats gonna be alot more than your budget once you add an interface
and yeah you need a decent microphone amp to use it
eh not decent just existent
true I guess
streaming
that will probably do the job
the mainstream distros supports it too now
Oh?
I guess support for it is mostly for dual booting or switching from Windows
I might feel cute and dual boot :3
Does it actually increase system security?
Oh lol
Nah

Hmmm
I'd get 850W PSU, but the problem is most of them come with 2 individual PCIe power lines
And I need 3
why do you need 3?
because two is too little ๐ง
thats fine just use two cables
no you just use these
i think quin assumes you got 2x2pcie power
one cable for one and one for the other two slots
Ah, I see
Fire hazard ๐๐ฅ
yeah if you OC maybe
thats... how most PSUs ship these days
but you dont need 3 8pins for the power the cards draw so it creates no problem to just use these
you can get like 700w easily on 2 8pins
Can I use my 700W psu with it until 850W one comes?
yeah I mean worst case if you have powerspike it shuts down from overcurrentportection
thats how all my cables looked I got so far and I always used 2 cables for 3x8pin cards lol
If you have a good psu
yeah bronze rating or other bad stuff dont do it
but I'm assuming some half decent quality at least
Cooler Master MWE White 700W V2
don't talk about PSUs or else I'll start thinking about the 10-year old secondhand one in my PC
and get all sweaty
Yes but it's not good ๐
I use one cable for one 8pin just to be secure..

I would never use 1 for 3 or one if it only has two pins but for 3 when you have powerdraw that can basically be covered by one? yeah unless it would be some low quality china trash I'm not bothering with 3 cables
Yeah but with 3 cable it's safe..
Better idea
I'll just power limit it to 250W until new PSU arrives
decent cables are fine with 300W since the 150w rating for the 8pins is for the absolute bottom tier of worst cables, then you have up to like 75W over pcie, so having just 2 actual cables seems fine to me for 350w cards
What is the spec of 8 pins cable ?
Oh okay
im pretty sure cables get tested by the psu manufacturer
same for the psu itself
so they work as intended
well I would fucking hope so! nervously eyes the PSU they have
Yes but my xtx can do 420w (stock) ๐
i mean it would be needlessly risking lawsuits over broken cards/psus/housefires if they dont test their PSUs and cables
I mean still then, could be done with 1.5 cables xD
xtxs can go up to 525, but if you limit your wattage to like 400 you'll be fine and then some
525W?!
I'm scared of new technology
||525 without any modding and tomfoolery i mean||
xtxs can take a lot of power
much more than it says on the tin
oh yeah there are absolutely situations where you do want 3 cables for full power
but if you have a lower power psu set it to 350 and you're fine
At least you will have less chance to have a problem than a 4090 user with only one 12pins cable
@gusty kiln moondrop speaker + a few other releases
Important note to only plug the cables into your PSU that came with it and then plug the Y-Connector to the end of that cable.. There is no standard for the connectors on the PSU itself, which can lead to + being wired to a data/- line, killing your components.
yes, dont mix and match cable/psu brands

Okay, so my steam client boots up when I turn on my PC right? Well the tab doesn't automatically open even though it starts running immediately I have to click on the steam icon in my task bar to open it. Can someone please help? ๐ญ
Or is this normal and I'm a crazy person.
"the tab"
I don't know how to explain
This isnt open when I boot up my pc however, the program is running in the background
you mean the window?
turn off the setting "minimize on startup"
me too, they might have gotten rid of it
I think so
Guess it starts in the background permantly then
RIP
might turn it to start up when I click the icon then
B650 chads win again.
some are fixed and running it in gen4 seems to work so seems like some gen5 early adopter issues
I have like 2/3 gen 4 slot filled and my gen 5 is empty
why do you have a gen5 ssd
My board is x670e i just dont have a gen5
Installed
I have a gen 3 and a gen 4 in
Along with an empty gen4 and 5 slot
huh your boot drive is not in the main ssd slot?
Nope
Its gen 4 anyways why would i put it in a gen 5 slot
because usually thats the one directly connected to the cpu and not via chipset
aka the primary m.2 slot
POV: ASUS denies your warranty (itโs a feature)
Doesn't really matter tbh
Speeds are still good via the chipset
I mean if you dont do much via the io die sure but in the same vein might as well put it in the primary slot
it's usually just done to avoid any issues that could occur but it doesnt matter much
just unusual
Never really had any boot issues or detection issues
The Asrock B650 on3?
Technically there's no reason for it to not work
well yeah issues aren't a common thing
I dual booted on z390 with 2 m.2s 1 os per m.2
b650m-hdv/m.2
Never had issues either
its just direct connection vs through chipset, same as to why you usually want to space out usb devices to multiple controllers
usually wont matter much until you have like a 8khz mouse on the same hub as other devices
in the same vein it wont crash or anything just because you use an ssd via chipset
Exactly
I get that optimally you'd use the main but
Realistically... shit's good enough to run an os from a chipset ssd nowadays
has better directstorage performance ๐
I'll install a gen5 in the gen5 slot someday
When they don't cost an arm and a leg
Until then i dont give a damn xD
oh my god i just found out my 10 bit suddenly looked so bad
windows decided to turn on the automatic color management for apps
We love windows
we love windows
more like we're stuck with windows for better or worse
my exact thoughts
you're not stuck with windows tho
it's a free market, windows just happens to be the better OS
Better ? Nah
Supports more software because of its high market share so devs target it ? Yah
Sorry if this is a stupid question, can anyone confirm Wuque WS Dash HE switches are compatiblew with the 60HJE module please? Thanks
that sounds like the better OS if majority of the market chooses to stick with it despite it's flaws compared to the others out there
*60HE module
#๐ชโmodding_faq has a switch compatibility list if you scroll up
The people choose to stick to it purely because the software
Id argue no one really likes Windows itself
They just use it so they can launch the apps they actually do like
Idk anyone who genuinely likes the windows desktop design
With the inconsistent dark theme and ads for OneDrive and shit all over the place
And how awful it is to change default browser away from Edge
Thanks a lot for that list.
if you consider many of the software that make up windows, the design is not bad
Linux has flaws, Windows has flaws
It's just what flaws you're willing to take
Like I wrote earlier, it's a free market, people are free to use the linux base and create their next windows. But most likely won't due to the heaps of work it would require all of the current existing apps
But it's possible
Most of the software people use is already in Linux!
Except niche software and games with kernel level anticheat
yea, with a compatibility layer, which I wouldn't consider fully because all it takes is a update to potentially break it
Idk
The desktop shell itself is ok maybe
But the disjointed settings vs control panel
The broken update system
It's a pain
What?
Most people use their computer just to open a web browser
Which is all already on Linux natively
to me I see windows the better OS still, every platform has their flaws but the core of windows still functions like I've remembered for the past 20 years
if you're a professional user who uses software which aren't available, you need that software to work
downtime isn't a option
The only software I've needed the compatibility layer for is games
A lot of businesses are tied to the m365 suite, Adobe, CAD
Proton and wine exist
Adobe be the only who does not give free software license to students out of those
if you go to a school that doesn't care about you yea
Yeah
I use them for games
many schools pay for adobe if it's part of your degree plan
I know what you mean but like then it bared by the high school or college
Actually
I recently used proton to launch some software to patch Control
It it was free to students imagine how much more people would grow into it
Microsoft did well with Microsoft 365
So I could access the PlayStation exclusive mission...
And actually it probably is the best office suite anyways
They still add features to it
Yeah it is sadly
Not sadly
Sadly because it doesn't support .odt format for documents
It is without question nothing compares unless you want very basic functionality
You can buy once unlike adobe
You can't
You can use the browser
It's subscription only
Not office home
The browser version has only like 10% of the features
If you want consistent updates subscription makes sense, software people need to eat too
If you want basic functionality libre office or open office exist probably cross platform
I have been coded a slides document with code before
I use WPS Office mostly
let's be honest here, there aren't many features in the desktop version the average person will need
have been using Word for a while and there hasn't been any features I need from a basic document editor
Well there you go then
Exactly
But if someone wants em office has em most likely
Yeah but it's shit for viewing and editing diagrams that were created initially in MS Office
Convert them to PDF?
Every office suite is
Or just use online office
oh yea, pdf would suck to use on linux
especially if you're making anything more complex
Online office doesn't support those diagram features
PDF is a universal standard
.....
It's just as easy to use and manage on Linux than Windows
^ true
it's universal, but that doesn't mean there is a lot of software that support the full range of features for editing
especially for free
I really need to learn how to use it
On Linux there is
I found an app to edit every single piece of PDF metadata in the file
What to change shit you usually never get to see in a PDF ? Go ahead!
My issue is more on how do you create and preview the file as you type the markdown
But it is, in fact, a proprietary standard, even if it's universally used.
It's a standardized format according to wikipedia
wym? That boot time is normal for me since 2016.. Even had one that booted within 10 seconds. :0
ISO 32000 in 2008
Kinky
A touch more? It's syntax is archaic and it's plugins are a mess
But quite nice and powerful
so anything that's interactive
That's a no no
Damn LGR said the hurricane did a ton of damage to his house.
Best to ask in #๐งโkeyboard_modding
Explain to me like Iโm 5
valve and archlinux became friends
or besties
ty ty!
anyone know how i can get more stable FPS on val? ive got an i5-10600k with a 3060ti FE but i cant stay at a stable 240fps
Yey, I use arch so this could mean it can become a good OS for gaming
all this stuff is beating around the bush which is lack of standardization
until that happens linux is forever "iunno works on my machine" which is not an awesome experience
U gonna get more than just 240
I'm saying valve throwing money into linux is good. but the real problem with linux being like 4% of desktop instead of I dunno, 25%, 50%, whatever, is because it's so fragmented and shit at its core
so I dunno would rather see efforts towards that
not really talking about the kernel, just talking about the existence of it
being a fragmented thing just means everything is worse than if there was just "one linux"
no I don't need to argue technicalities or semantics
you know what I mean, there's one "windows" you get
there's also one "macOS"
but there's sort of thousands of "linuxes"
and that's the problem
need one flavor only
not 20 init systems, 50 desktops, thousands of incompatible libraries
and so on
and there's a very good reason not to
shit working the same every time
honestly I don't know since I haven't used it in years
i dont tho lol
joke's on you, I've been fulltiming linux for 5 years
I main Fedora and it's FANTASTIC ๐๐
windows
Whats your cpu and gpu temps and how much memory ?
I replied to the last message
around 50-70c and ive only got 16gbs of ram
Welp idk man
Are you still using hyprland?
It's too confusing for new users
Not knowing what one to pick
I always suggest Pop or Fedora
yep
If you google as someone with no clue about the topic you get dozens of sites saying Ubuntu is the default Linux lol
Ubuntu is shit now :'(
Tell that to google
I don't recommend
How is someone supposed to know that
i googled "best distro for beginners" checked 3 different articles and none of them can agree on what the best distro is
whereas if i go into any tech store and pickup a mac or windows pc, it comes with the same os pretty much
Mint is so fucking boring with the really dull colors and dreadful default wallpaper
New users will get bored of seeing it and move back to Windows
Sorry but nobody cares about default wallpapers when itโs about what os to choose
Yes they do
Barely any normie changes it
Yes because they donโt care
Bet if you go to a library
You'll see most people using the default windows one
Yes, because they donโt care
then when you do have problems with linux there's 27 different configurations of stuff to troubleshoot and one fix doesn't work for others, editing 5 different config files because xorg or wayland or audio servers can't decide what file to use, libraries being incompatible or there's an unreported bug, or your hardware just doesn't work, or you have any other number of things nobody can troubleshoot so you're just hanging out on forums for 6 months trying to solve your obscure problem that only manifests on your machine with your configuration
Yeah if it's nice looking
The one default in Mint is just dark grey with a monochrome mint logo
It's dreadful
u got a pic?
kinda curious
Such a shame cause they have such nice landscape photos installed by default
Most people use a fullscreen chrome tab 90% of the time they are at a screen
They donโt care enough about a wallpaper to change os for that
They made a fucking northern lights photo pre-installed
WHY NOT USE THAT?!
Why use this boring shit?
^
They used to use this one too
wayland has been such a buggy mess for me, constant stutters and freezes
x11 is more stable on my system
yeah true that. but i just want a working os
Linux has always been trying to make janky hacks to fix Nvidia driver issues
Nvidia won't fix them
ill just stick to windows for now and keep arch as my second os
Nvidia are actually making useable Linux drivers now????
But they are proprietary
No one else can work on them
what are you using for idle and lockscreen / turning the screen off when locked for a few seconds
on my end after it turns the screen of and i after a like half an hour when i want to use my computer it just crashes and i have to basicly restart the computer?
well, my untroubleshooteable bugs:
- my mouse literally won't work on booting my PC unless I replug it, it's like a 1/10 chance it won't and system journal just gives an undescript error nobody on the internet or documentation knows anything about
- sound in discord or applications keeps randomly disappearing, there's also no guaranteed way to reproduce this. either chromium, firefox or app discord can work, or they might not. sometimes it's the game audio that disappears, other times it's discord audio.
- electrom/chromium sucks and functionality in them is again a dice roll, IME doesn't work or does work, capslock as backspace doesn't really work (important for my layout)
I don't have either

maybe your windowmanager/de has sort of an "ecosystem" way of doing it
nah im talking about using hyprland
I used to have a Mad Catz mouse
And it didn't like Linux
Any time I tried to right click, the entire desktop would freeze and spam right click
Yeh xd
I had the Rat 7
The only distro that didn't have an issue with it was SolusOS
there's hyprlock and hypridle
literally the "ecosystem" ways of doing it :>
I don't really see a need for these things, I can just leave my screen on and unlocked all the time personally
yea except when you turn off the screen hyprlock crashes and you cant log in anymore
well maybe in 6 month it will be usable
yea kde is nice as a just works
but man that tiling is nice
yeah whaddya know, how am I not surprised
perhaps. but then that leads me to complain about having "options" again if solution is to just use the one DE that works
my point exactly being that if there was one big standard that just always worked, we wouldn't have all these issues
Gnome
Plasma
Cinnamon
Those all work
Budgie desktop doesn't really count cause that's just GNOME with a different shell
it is though
Most use gnome?
tell you what, I'll give KDE a go but I'll be really sad when I can't get it to tile like I want
wholly depends on what else you got going on with your system
They still mostly suck
it was like 3 years ago
Isn't bismuth the new main tiling plugin?
DDR5 post times increased it a bit so it shifted whatโs a fast startup, also sleep vs actual reboot etc.
Shows me like 14-16s in task manager usually which is quite nice
Also
Windows doesn't actually fully turn off the system when you click shutdown
It does if you set it to do so
if I kick the kde statusbar and use my own, can I tell the windows not to tile over the bar I have
Yeah by turning off Fast Boot
But that's on by default and it's hard to find in the control panel
good
right my systems have varied a lot in boot up time over the years
Okay but this isnโt about defaults or if itโs easy to find its about what changes in post times due to newer hardware
I'm not arguing hardware
I'm saying that Windows, by default, do NOT fully power off the system when you click shutdown
Disabling it is only needed when dual booting Linux
A non issue for 99%
Or if you physically unplug your computer from the wall socket when not using it
Oh yeah I recently turned fast boot off myself.
It's so stupid that it leaves NTFS dirty.
That has never affected me.
I wish I didn't have to unplug my computer overnight
But coil whine is unbearable to me when trying to sleep
Your PSU's standby circuit whines?
You can use kwin standalone??
No
I think it's the GPU
That shouldn't have any power with the computer off.
If your computer has coilwhine when shut down go to bios and disable stuff like usb power being on and that should eliminate it
Actually NVM
I just remembered DeepinOS uses kwin
Oh ok I'll try
The monitor power brick also has whine
Speaking of power stuff though, who's looking forward to 12VO?
If you have a bad psu maybe a few minutes from capacitors discharging but shouldnโt make any noise after
But I have the monitor on a different plug
Oh yeah that's very common unfortunately.
Yep :/
Another reason I wish I didn't have my computer in my bedroom
Donโt expect it to come to DiY so wonโt affect me
I'm very very sensitive to high pitched noises
Get one of these and you just hit the switch and donโt need to unplug shit
I hope it does soon, it would be nice to have more efficient machines.
It doesnโt really make them more efficient when in use
That's not a good solution.
Itโs mostly on idle and such
Yeah I know.
All the sockets in the house have switches
But I still need to lean back behind my desk to flick it
But I'm not using my computer most of the time.
LOL
That's very British sounding.
I'm Irish
Every wall socket in Ireland has a switch beside it
Unless your house was built within the last 9 years
Or just one next to her ear

Anyway, time to do my weekly shopping and my weekly "bad for you breakfast".
Usually a McDonald's bagel.
mine is having a beer with my breakfast
I don't drink alcohol so I can't do that.
very tasty with some fried food like a full english or something
these are low abv ones like 2,8-3,5%
It's higher than 0. :-)
I wish my wall sockets had switches
Old American houses/buildings normally have one socket with a switch.
Turns out I left way too early and the store isn't open yet. .-.
Guess I'll just drive around being silly.
seems a bit inconvenient having the switch at floor level
Each socket has one

Oh
And all plugs are fused
Iโm from Dundalk
I lied Iโm American too
Do a burnout!
๐คข
you can still do burnouts with the front wheels
Just hold the handbrake at the same time, no problem
Hot hatches are the best car to drive, prove me wrong
WTF are those
most fun for the buck for sure
smol slanted back car like a ford fiesta or focus
with lots of power
Look at how much fun this picture is having!
Oh
Kinda like the shape of my car
Ibiza gang
80s hot hatches were the highlight of cheap fun motoring
Hot hatches are the perfect balance between fun and practicallity. Small enough to not be a nuisance to drive in the city, big enough to actually fit 4 adults and luggage. Enough power to zip about, but economical if you drive chill.
It's electric and I'm not sure if it would let me, I haven't tested.
didn't need much power but still went like stink
and because no weight it would handle corners with ease
My car only has 200HP and a little over 200Ft Lbs of torque.
I saw a modern Ibiza a few days ago
The outside looks almost the exact same as my one
But I saw that the new one had a large screen on the center console
big and heavy
When I'm driving at night
And a tall car is driving towards me
Their headlights are at head height to me .-.
I get fucking blinded
I have a "small car" and it's still huge.
I may need to get those light glare glasses
It's stupid at this point
The suv headlines are at head height of people driving small cars
There are so many cars that are so freaking tall that their lights go straight into all of my mirrors and into my face.
Yep .-.
And I'm in Texas so most cars are either giant trucks or idiots in sports cars.
I imagine its even worse in the US
I take your embed fail and raise you a direct upload
but the SUV plague has well and truly spread here too
I fucking hate them
Small cars ftw
Easy to drive
Fit into smaller spaces
Better fuel efficiency
now that's how a small car should look
shame I don't fit in a lot of small cars
being like 190
Instead of people learning to drive they are just buying bigger and bigger cars so they aren't the ones dying in the crashes they cause.
It just oooozes fun and cheap replacement panels
like I couldn't fit comfortably in a fiat 500 even with the seats all back
My mom's car is way larger than mine
And when I sit into the passenger seat, I am touching the ceiling
So the size of the car doesn't always mean you'll have a better chance of fitting in...
I got one of these guys.
The shape is.. Interesting
back in school I wanted an alfa gtv then I tried sitting in one, literally couldn't find a position for it to be drivable, made me sadge
I would hit my head on that ceiling xd
I'm 6' and too fat and there's still room left.
Oh hmm
That looks like the car-personification of a midwest "Ope"
I don't mean that as a bad thing
It could stand to be a little smaller but that's the only issue I have with the body.
I miss the sharp angles of yesteryear ๐ฆ
The aerodynamics do a good job of keeping the cameras clean and everything.
I'm pretty darn happy with it though, at speed on the freeway I can floor it and it just zooms.
I want to get a boring car, slap three motors in it, make it have way too much horsepower and keep it looking stock.
Sold my old Honda Accord when I moved to NL, about two months before used car prices started their path to triple during the pandemic
That always feels bad but it's not your fault.
Same with my computer... Just bad timing haha
life here is kinda pain without a car
Sold two monster PCs for less money than it took to buy one medium PC six months later when I settled in my new place
I feel partially responsible because about a month before I first heard about the virus in China I was like "it's about time for there to be another pandemic".
sure the public transport is decent-ish, but this city is so damn mountainous there's a ton of steep long hills to traverse
so you need to be an athlete to bike around
I had to buy a new gpu in the height of the gpu famine of 2021 because my scumbag gpu at the time decided it would be a great time to give up right there and then
I'm really hoping the US HS rail stuff happens.
I really want to be able to ride trains across the country in hours instead of days.
The rail line is going to go through Hell Michigan?
Huh, it might be.
I find it strange how many people here don't think transportation is important but I'm really hopeful.
The only transportation network that matters in America:
I can't go from where I am to Detroit with that.
Probably for the better ๐
Honestly when I visit I'm probably going to go just about everywhere except for downtown Detroit.
I have a lot of places I haven't been in over a decade.
Lots of amazing places to discover in America
As long as you stay out of the cities...
I say that as someone who has been to 48 of the 50 largest cities in the US
I've been to two and they are good to go for some things.
At least I think 2?
Oh wow I've been to 6.
whats a better program to see pc hardware info than open hardware monitor?
this app doesnt show averages or gpu power consumption
hwinfo64
How do you make Windows stop making the cursor disappear?
WHAT
I am using Windows for a coding project and the cursor occasionally just disappears.
uhm
That's a really stupid default.
But at the same time it obsucres nothing and when you need to do stuff like interact with the internet for documentation/troubleshooting it's very useful to have one.
Rectify11 is amazing
Makes Windows actually look consistent and prettier
Adds nice animations to file explorer too
that's a thing, I need it
You know all the shit in windows that's still light theme?
This fixes that
does this only work in certain applications?
Hey guys, anyone know where I can find the recommended profiles for different games? I remember seeing them once on the wootility app but then I lost them
You can check out Wootabase but it's fairly outdated now iirc
Could be a good start to find a base profile to modify though
Iโm pretty sure there were recommended profiles that were from wootility itself
okay yea, this only works in certain applications, which is odd
you don't even need Rectify11 for this, just use a theme patcher, afaik it'll do the same thing
and it'll be far more consistent with itself
dont know
Does it give us the control panel back and strip out the spyware (aggressive telemetry and "AI" garbage)?
I love Rufus
Just started burning a windows iso to it and checked all the boxes to make account login and shit not show up on the install
NtLite is pretty good too.
yeah rufus is great
dont need rufus for that, if anything it gives you less options than what you can actually do
Autounattend files is how it's done
https://schneegans.de/windows/unattend-generator/
NtLite has things for that and tools to let you strip a bunch of junk out of the ISOs to make them smaller.
this isn't modifying the iso, it's a script that runs at the install
it's one of the first party microsoft tools for companies to create mass installable installations
I mean, you can just drop the XML file into the ISO at a specific path and it'll do the same thing.
maybe its me but its ugly as hell xD
Xd
UI design is a lot more than changing a few colors
otherwise it will look like garbage like what we see here
i dont need dark mode on everything
:eternalScreaming:
gotta love third party apps also following the theme
on macos, and ios i guess
it's because they make standard guidelines
windows has them too, they're just not implemented as often, there's quite a few apps that do have them though
yep thats true. i notice some on windows but not as many as my apple devices
Linux also has a standard way to let apps access the system theme and accent color
twinkle tray for example, it uses mica though so it's a bit weird
a friend also sent me this mockup of what photoshop would look like if it used the windows app design guidelines
personally I find windows 11 to be far better looking than macOS, it's more refined and has less oddities
macOS has random odd choices that I can't help but think are oversights and weird inconsistencies that make no real sense
I prefer MacOS tbh
you're a gnome user ofc you think so
Xd
lol
I also am a big fan of making the plasma desktop panel look like the MacOS top bar
Aka
Adding global menu and whatnot
i really like macos too, macs in general tbh
Mac feels really clunky to use, especially in a professional scenario where speed is necessary
Honestly
If they start selling them with at least 16gb RAM
Id consider them great
Don't wanna have to tack on 200 to the price just to get enough RAM on my damn laptop
Nah
Once I need a new laptop I'm going to get a framework
Add 32gb ram
I already have SSD and charger
Install Fedora on it and off I go
Fedora is one of the officially supported distros on Framework laptops
You know I was thinking surely the macbook pro base model is 16gb now
But I guess not
Nope
Still 8
And they have the audacity to have "Pro" in the name
Apple Intelligence can't even run on MacBooks with only 8gb RAM
Apple said so themselves
Oh
I thought they disabled it entirely on 8gb models
They finally added window snapping in the new MacOS
i think the ai code assistant thingy was one of the excluded ones
But only half tile
No quarter
There's quarter
Code assistance?
You mean when using Xcode?
That looks so much nicer
it is, but it has it's own flaws as far as usability goes, it's far less compact of a design
At WWDC24 last week, Apple announced a new predictive code completion feature in Xcode 16. Let's have a play around with it in Xcode 16 Beta.
basically copilot just for swift code
Oh Idea has that sort of thing now too, it's super slow, buggy and inaccurate so I turned it off.
ive heard this one also isnt that great at the moment
thanks
I like the new bouncy animation on gnome 47 desktop when you open a dialog box in libAdwaita apps
It's subtle but really nice
Oh
They changed the password prompt dialog too
Looks great :D
And the shell dialog box design
i like macos design language with transparent elements and such but in terms of usability i find it so ass
finder is fucking disgusting
window switching feels clunky
fullscreen doesn't even work on some apps

Apple Keychain and Passwords app is on Windows....how strange
Donโt find it too strange
looks like its gonna be awful slippery in the wet
Microsoft doesnโt make phones anymore so they donโt care who uploads what onto their store
macOS is getting monthly popup dialogs to remind you of what apps have camera and mic access
they popup over the entire desktop or whatever you have open

if they announce a web-based software that'd be huuge
but im very much not expecting much
the Viper v3 pro mini is expected
idk about websoftware
Yellow lighting and white clothes remind me of a clean room
they wonโt do that. they like money too much to give up tracking people in the background.
yeah thats why i say im not expecting much
they really just said "yes, you , gamer out there"
looks cool tho
You get some poster board. /s
300 usd?
still expensive
wtf
what is 300?
razer made a haptic chair cushion
ah
๐ค Vibrating seat...interesting
๐ฌ
why are they SO EXPENSIVE????!!!!
those are just the chairs tbf
and more trying to get that office chair premium price
haptic headset lol
lol pc building sim 2 supports the haptic
so if i drop a gpu ill also feel ths shame just like in real life?
includes haptic Bankaccount
that was a bit funny, showing snap tap and saying "guess what, everyone is copying"
kinda true tho...
and now finally bringing to other keyboards
When your MB cost as much as the GPU and more than the CPU
Please take that Razer Blade 18 and make it 2x thicker...
So that it can finally stop whining
well its evisu
If those are anything similar to Leap V2, it may be a good value
Haptic chair cushion, haptic headset, and snaptap to older keyboards + synapse 4
Basically not much
haptic buttplug?
It broke after a month./
Wooting make haptic switchy, we must compete with razer
hmm storage on that blade laptop is a bit expensive lol
Taking notes from apple
apple inspired
๐ค
Idk, looks like a bargain to me
Also itโs cool to see actually good chairs being produced by pc manufacturers
i think they beat apple
Wasn't that Blade 18 with TB5 announced like half a year ago?
The fractal chair looks nice tbh
those storage chips have got to be made of solid gold and diamonds
yeah that price is absurd
Only $200 diff from 2tb and 4tb?
The reason for those prices is because it changes other specs automatically.
mhm balanced it my ass.
ohh youre right ary
I despise the cooling system in my Blade 17. Truly a pinnacle of stupidity.
tho not everyone wants top spec, just more storage alone
You can always buy SSD seperately. Will be much cheaper regardless.
yeah thats possible but i'd just like more storage in the laptop so i dont have to bring a portable disk around
we going back to these laptop coolers??
These coolers can help temps if they have that sealing foam pad. However this will only work if the laptop has open bottom. So that ironically, Razer laptops won't benefit from this much if at all.
uhm
MSI Titan will definitely like that cooling pad.
Definetly not Steelcase gesture but they seem to take what was the racing chair meta and make real chairs
give us new mouse
Synapse 4 is actually very good.
Mhm, much better but with my own steelcase i can pass on getting a new chair for a long time
I have been using it for a while.
neat
making the viper mini weigh 60g
Wasn't Razer founded in 1999?
Then died and then resurrected in 2005.
Man Boomslang. What a piece of shit..
lol
Does it still have the ball for maximum misses?
I mean tbh it is a legendary mouse indeed. But it's still a very bad mouse. Which is probably why they are bringing it back as a collector's item. That thing is beyond redemption to be used as a modern product.
Who will have a video of all the products announced
They should put the haptics in the boomslang, make it the most Razer product to ever razer
17inch laptop btw
Oh well
Time to go download Synapse 4 1.0 and see if my laptop explodes
apple internals always look so nice to me
Area 51M cooling system. The goat.
Love apples stuff
same

Is Windows saved?
It feels like they are getting better with software stuff since the eu suit
yeah usb c was pretty nice too
YES
also stuff like opening up nfc
Yeah the eu suit did wonders
I hope they start doing some serious innovation soon though
finally now my main bank has stated they'e going to support apple pay, and i can quit having accounts in two seperate banks just to use apple pay
I canโt wait to have a use for the wallet app
oh true
I hope driver licenses for my state will be able to be in the wallet app aswell
we have a seperate app for license but it'd be nice to have it in the wallet app
i'd like to have my id there though, that would be convinient
Yeah
I am still listening to the razer stream outtro songs...
Here's the video from Instagram
Asia as always gets the cool stuff
IKR
Not but seriously can we for a second appreciate how good Razer's music choice was this stream
The comments are all thirsting over 11-Tan

Literally yes
Steam OS development is escalating
there ain't enough grass in the world for these weebs to touch
