33 countries are investing a lot to try and make it happen
fusion is the tech that is 10-20 years away
from any given moment you ask when its happening
including enemy nations like china, russia and the us, even they are getting along on the cause of it
purely speculative but positive production circa 2080-2100
I mean the question is do we even need them at that point
mass adoption 2200
Mass adoption never
realistically you may be right no matter the technicalities if we can't all co-operate with one another haha
I mean we are getting closer but we shouldn't make it the main plan
yeah, it's always good to have numerous sources
I just dont know if in that timeline we even need them as in we might just be able to have more than enough energy with nuclear
true, we have the capability to do that right now
Current nuclear production methods could meet all the world's energy demands easily into the future with less issues than current energy production
I don't see nuclear becoming a thing again because gevermont
And with all the years we stopped building them they just get more expansive
like by that time I think its more likely we get 90% efficency solar cells than us getting fusion and then we could replace all nuclear with that
lmao sure
Short life hazardous waste on a scale far beyond nuclear
I'm not even arguing against nuclear but if that's your take on solar panels I dont think we can have a productive discussion
absolutely not true
nuclear takes sooo long too build by that time we'd have so much solar and wind and batteries that it isnt economically viable
Solar is working fine for Australia
and see? these points; solved by thorium-based molten salt reactors
Any power solution requiring an overabundance of batteries is not a solution
it was never supposed to be the sole solution
Disposable tech that produces horribly toxic waste using limited resources
the only logic counter point, if only from a monetary one will be from coal. "they toook our derbz" etc
like 90% of a solar panel is entirely recyclable
clean nuclear is better yeah
nuclear produces more waste
battery does not mean it's lithium, like there are non toxic waste options
Not viable ones
large hydro pump storage for example
was about to say
even then, nobody is saying that solar is supposed to be the sole solution
not true if disposed of correctly
Could say the same about any toxic waste then
i used to be pro nuclear 15 years ago or so.. but time caught up, it doesnt make sense anymore
correct disposal adds cost and its about commercial viability first
nuclear is for a nuke program that also makes energy.
Nuclear is by far the cheapest option
water vapour and waste that was solved years ago
I am pro nuclear, but just ignoring facts is stupid
hasnt been in a long time
Nuclear doesent produce much waste
Look at Frances energy cost compared to the rest of the EU
Solar doesn't either
Solar does
look at frances rivers drying up shutting down their reactors
Skill issue not nuclear issue
Look at it when 50% of their reactors are inoperable
nuclear doesnt need coolant, true
And they imported german solar and wind energy
not solar or wind lol
No
Toxic batteries are not better options than boiling water
ok i cba with this troll anymore. must be as boomer as ur pfp
It's really hard with mass scale production points due to the butterfly effect, where do you draw the line?
Do we consider the waste in the production of a single bolt used in a factory used to produce a screw that went into the production of another factory that made the electronics for a part of a nuclear control panel, then every other piece of production waste associated with every other component involved in both the production and running of both nuclear and solar?
The issue is nuclear reactors last for a lot longer than solar panels and orders of magnitude longer than batteries
and the maintenance involved is still cheaper in net gain correct vs battery and solar replacement?
everything needs maintenance
Yes and it produces less waste of limited resources
nuclear is a huge project.
solar panels are simple products
prices of nuclear reactors are going up
prices of solar panels/batteries are going down
Yes the literal only reason to not build nuclear is competence
It is better in every regard
Scale issue really
yesnt
It's a completely different kind of energy.
On demand, not "as weather permits"
Without -massive- batteries, we will never fully be able to avoid Nuclear and other fossil fuels.
https://www.techpowerup.com/324279/logitech-g-launches-new-g309-lightspeed-wireless-gaming-mouse
oooh this is sweet
wish it was lighter but full battery free wireless mouse!
I wonder what is the delay when you lift you mouse and put it back down
Unless there's a capacitor or something on board
Also they need to release a bigger power play mat
the powerplay mat does still work over a certain distance, and there has to be a capacitor in the puck since its converting AC to DC
yo
i still don't understand wtf is rappy snappy or snap tap, so how does it decide when to stop strafe if u not lifting the key
what ur action warrants the stop?
That's true since it's induction, but no one wants an uneven surface. An artisan xl will overhang a lot
yea agreed on needing a bigger one
I can see this being the next superlight 3
No battery must use powerplay
50 grams

i can see 2 puck options
1 li battery rechargable 1 powerplay
best of all worlds
battery super easy to swap for right to repair, ez to remove, ez to convert to wired
there is a capacitor in the mouse
as well as the puck?
no
how big?
who knows
Meet the new G309 LIGHTSPEED - A new stacked supercapacitor mouse ā”š
ā
LIGHTSPEED Wireless + Bluetooth
ā
LIGHTFORCE Hybrid Switches
ā
HERO 25K Sensor
ā
POWERPLAY Wireless Charging Compatible
šAvailable in Black and White: https://t.co/u99ijFIJWK
they omitted it from a lot of their marketing, but the announcement tweet calls it a supercap mouse lol
also to be clear the puck unless its changed has a capacitor in it
tiny
aka insignificant
enough to output voltage for a second or two after the mat is unplugged
for reference a mamba hyperflux
that lasts 8 seconds with that cap
can't find a capacity tho
ik I found it a few years ago
probably 10 farad each
A single AAA battery mouse would be great for laptop travel use
Maybe in the mid 60s grams
10 farad is around .001mah (massive simplification)
non issue
just ship em to us
if you can store the waste anyway it's not a benefit to have less vs more so that's not really a plus point then
Wtf is a supercapacitor mouse?
a mouse with a supercapacitor
One week old OLED.. RIP
O.o
didn't some recent monitors have issues with that, that were fixed by firmware?
are you running the pixel refresh thing they all have
if its one week old a single refresh should clear that
Somehow the OLED on my vita never burnt in
Rip vita tbh was a good console with few games
I am, this happened almost instantly. I have a couple of screens from today that look to be burnt in instantly
what screen is it
Lol
see if following those steps there helps
if you're lucky it's just a pxiel cleaning run and then it's fine from maybe bad default settings
Soul sacrifice was a banger game though
i have a problem
when i use the key print with the wooting in valorant, it doesnt work
but inother apps its does
Rest in pepperoni
Why rip? It's my favorite streaming device lol
I use mine all the time
It's the only good pocketable streaming device
Gotta try a Odin mini though soon
with how bad the 2.4ghz wifi is on it
I'm surprised you manage
It'a a good console
Definitely not the best quality it could be
I love mine
But the ergonomics are king
That oled screen still blows me away to this day
Agreed
They are amazing emulation tio
I'd buy an odin mini if i didnt already have a steam deck
2d stuff sure
But 3d stuff... still hit of miss
You can do a couple of N64 games
"A couple" that's the main point
Odin 2 mini is like the same size and can do all n64 it eliminates the need for a vita
Besixes well
Vita games
More Redmi Pad updates
I have a og odin
Though with the improvements of 8gen2 windows emulation is amazing
So the mini looks good
guysijustpulledoutmyspacebarswitchandnowitdontworkanymorecananyonehelp
Put the switch back in maybe? Then unplug the keyboard, plug it back in and wait five seconds before typing.
i did but the unplug thing worked
It's because you played gray zone
I need help real quick with another ram option
If I wanted something close to 990 speed but with the same storage and not as pricey
Crucial P5 Plus 2TB maybe then? It is PCIe 4.0

it bought terabytes of this crap
Whatās the difference

sosa flashbacks
Whereās the ssd go, if I get the ssd dam I still need to buy ram
The only problem is that the SSD doesn't fit in the RAM slot, even though it looks like it would fit
Where does it go?
I don't know why they'd make them that way, but your motherboard has special SSD slots where your RAM doesn't fit
Ahh
well if you try hard enough everything fits everywhere but the motherboard wont work anymore and neither will the ram/nvme
Dumb question, but if someone lets me know ty, is ddr5-6000 ram?
I could search that up but I rather ask u guys
Nah thatās ram nvm
Looks big
Would ram speed effect ssd speed
No
Nope
RAM speed in a degree affects whole PC's speed
So if I got 2 64g ram, should I worry about ssd
god damn
You should worry about your motherboard and CPU supporting it
Iām learning lots
Get one (or two) sticks of 32gb RAM
RAM has nothing to do with the storage on your PC. Two sticks of RAM is optimal for performance. You probably wonāt need more than 32gb and at most 64gb
These came to me already so just tweaking some stuff on the list of stuff I need now
Ssd is the only thing on my mind rn
Whatās more important for SSD speed is your motherboard and processor supporting the speed of the SSD
why are you buying even more ram when you got 32gb already
what do you wanna fit in there? 50 chrome tabs?
Iām not buying more ram, planning on upgrading 1tb ssd to 2tb
why ask this then
But 2tb is way more then I thought so looking for alternatives with good speed still
Becuase Iām not knowledgeable
2TB is not that much when you actually start using your PC long term.
depends
if i didnt need long term storage for uh.... backup copies of my bluerays (yes yes) then i could live with 2tb easily

Unless you actually donāt play a lot of triple A games or donāt do video editing or production and just like⦠play minecraft or something, 2TB is not a lot tbh
i just download games when i need to
Or you know... uninstall games now and then.
not 2years in advance
Ahhh but downloading now means you donāt have to invest time 2 years down the line šāāļøšāāļøšāāļø
Your motherboard has multiple NVME slots
chuckles in 500mbit
i can spare those 20minutes tops

Start downloading, go shower, get back, game downloaded
Whatās the difference like from 1024mb/to 2048mb should I worry about it as much as I am
With what?
After the update my wooting doesn't work anymore what can I do?
1024 was the 1gb ssd, and the 2048 was the 2gb
Buy a second 1TB SSD if the 2TB one is out of your price range. Or if you do get the 2TB one, then install it next to your 1TB not instead of it
Like $50 more
Yup, 1024GB is 1TB, 2048GB is 2TB
Unplug it and plug it back in
We won't delve into the whole GB vs GiB discussion
I tried it already, also restarted my PC nothing works
Do you own a computer right now? That should kind of give you an idea of how big or small games can get. Or even look up games that youāre interested in and see how much space it takes up. BG3 takes up almost 200gb
I was getting 990 but then changed it to 970
Might suggest making a thread in #1019755933959733258 for assistance then
So I donāt wanna downgrade but I also want higher storage
Get a 970. You wonāt need 990 speeds likely
You can revert to previous software until you get some assistance
Yea I have one, itās been through a lot tho but it does the job
Like 990 is for people who want to move large amounts of files or video editing or anything that NEEDS high speeds
I do video editing sometimes for clips
Playing video games, loading screens, bootup, youāre hardly ever going to notice the difference at all
But just to upload to YouTube/tiktok, 1440p resolutions
Shit I hope I receive a fast answer...
Yeah, I mean on like a professional level where youāre doing it as a job
Oh Alr
You can see benefit, donāt get me wrong. But youāre not going to maximize your dollar ykwim?
Iād also like to point out that rumors are heavily pointing towards a 5080 release in late 2024, even being confirmed by some Nvidia board partners
My current pc overheats alot and gets like high 90s temp and my gpu is unmounted so itās just like sideways with nothing screwed on it
If youād like to upgrade your storage, someone said it earlier, you can always add an extra NVME SSD since thereās two slots on that motherboard
My current pc overheats alot and gets like high 90s temp and my gpu is unmounted so itās just like sideways with nothing screwed on it it still works tho
My current pc overheats alot and gets like high 90s temp and my gpu is unmounted so itās just like sideways with nothing screwed on it it still works tho
Red devil 5700x, or something like that
whaaaaat the acrual fuck
what the
Lmao
I used a hammer
can we spoiler hardware gore pls
hoopoooooooooly
I have old pics brb
current specs?
itās up to you, but iād consider waiting another 5 - 6 months for a 9800x3d and an rtx 5080 release. the latest those will come out would be january 2025
Yea lemme turn on my pc brb
That pc case abused me, do u know how hard those metal bars were to bend?
Couldāve poked my eye out with that hammer
bro⦠iām pretty sure you couldāve taken off a side shield
No I couldnāt
and have the I/O be accessible
It was connected to the whole case
what case is that?
Some old nzxt case
I hope you treat your future Wooting keyboard better
Really old prob
im confused why you couldnt just mount it normal
Oh def
and use a gpu brace
looking at the psu shroud it canāt be that old bruh
Itās been 2 years so I just left it how it is since itās easier for me, I donāt use the metal bars anymore ofc
iām like 99% sure you couldāve unscrewed it bc iāve used cases older than the H5 š
thatās just so brutal
im just so confused why this was necessary... poor case
All because the cable was too big to fit into the gpu
mmmm yeah maybe consider waiting another 5 months but if you canāt then the bundle microcenter offers is pretty good
alternatively, iād buy everything besides the gpu and use the 5700xt until the 5080 comes out
5 months is very long tho, very long
One can always wait for the next thing and suddenly the next thing and the next etc.
yeah, i understand that.
the whole wait for the next gen to come out troupe is kinda not for the faint hearted.
it could be even longer than 5 months
Oh yeah, and it will definitely be widely available after release
Iām betting the 5080 comes out end of 2024 and latest jan 2025. Nvidia board members already rumored it with GN
Oh and this LOLOL
Wait thatās weird
As if scalpers won't buy out the entire stock lol
5700xt, I donāt even have it plugged up
yeah and rumors said 50 series is announced at computex last month and now everyone said all 3 gpus come in 2025
At least there wonāt be a mining epidemic⦠just AIā¦
Nvidia never announces gpus at computex
They havenāt for the last like 3 generations
and they had their own announcement ahead of computex so it was technically their own event
either way point is it's not set in stone that we have new gpus in 5 months
I hope we do, but we might not
itās not fs, but i think the chances are high imo
I'm waiting for the 6090 Super Ultra AI+ š
i think at this point you should wait for the 7080
And definitively at a reasonable price!
#1019755933959733258 please.
bruh, but you know you can just simply take the covers out... right?
Those aren't the covers - those are the metal spacers between each cover.
The GPU is vertical.
wooting gpu when?
I feel like if wooting made PC components (internal) they might do fans
and then give the fans tachyon mode which allows them to spin at a million rpm
should i wait for the 80he or just cop the 60he+ one
Whichever layout you want more
60 looks cleaner
Then get that
There is no diff other than like 8k but like you canāt even really feel that in keyboards
This mode also activates a secret rgb mode if put at 69,420RPM
Think of something else and sleep on it. You have learned much, go for a walk if you can and tomorrow it will come.
Coffee sounds nice
i have the keurig coffee machine and just makes all the coffee watery
I buy coffee and drink tea when I'm at home š”
Maybe its broken
?
Isn't one of the ingredients in coffee, water?
Get grinder and roaster, then get a espresso machine with backwash
I am a tea person though, coffee I don't like
simple drip through would do the trick, maybe check out Project Farm videos
does anyone know?

u guys dont mind my dumb questions right?

I can bet you Ill ask dumber
maybe me 2 years ago could beat u in that
whats the q
nah if anything, its mostly just gunna be stuff like "whats a powersupply do?" or whats the diffrence from ram and ssd"
mostly stuff like that
sure there are a lot of build guides out there that will give an overview of each component wile they build the PC
there are enough that if you don't like the person you can just watch another I mean watch enough of them and you can do it blind folded (I wouldn't) but its like Lego if you have ever played with them. start with your case first seeing the relitive size of everything helps and go from there
everyone has different levels of knowledge and has to start somewhere
Yea I mean I could do that but if I were to come in here and ask, Iād get a response in like 5 mins, rather wait those 5 mins then watch the 20 min video (unless Iām actually building the pc rn)
I find understanding how to go from A to B to C etc. helps better for me then rando q. not that thats what you are doing . most of the time its good to get a reliable source of info that you can ref. anytime you need. Rather then wait for someone to respond
different sources help in different ways
for visual learners videos are good, help provide context from beginning to end if done properly, same with decent readable tutorials, which are also good to use for direct reference material to refer back to, helps with possible issues when doing things so you don't have to keep going back to re-reference
direct questions are good for Discord imo
reddit is sort of like an in between for things like that imo
Also it is better to be able to be self reliant in situations where there may be some hectic things going.
yup, I find that to be the case from my own personal experience
I had a steep learning curve when starting on my Linux journey, had a lot to learn about learning in and of itself haha
What's a good mouse to pair with the wooting 60he+? since it has rapid triggers, I'm wondering if there's a mouse that can match its low-latency?
most mice these days have low latency, you don't need to buy high end mice anymore to get great performance.
if you ever had k cups you would understand
naw just k cups are hella inconsistent
I don't drink coffee so I won't understand lol
ty i'll try that
thank you i'll look into this and let you know if it fixes my issue lol
just tired of buying $7 coffee at starbucks
Starbucks sucks fr
just do some exercise in the morning you'll sleep like a baby and feel good in the day š
@bright briar i know my dad used a nespresso coffee machine for years
The one with the little pods
Idk anything about coffee tho just trying to be helpful
I drink energy drinks instead
@ancient python is there anything in particular you want your monitor to have
in terms of specs and features
lets see
i want it to be 360hz
no price limit at all
but i want it to be oled
and i use Navida gpu and its rtx 4070 ti
@ancient python gigabyte moniters
Are good ive been running the new one that they released
but they dont have 360hz or oled
what u think of this one
ALIENWARE 27 360HZ QD-OLED GAMING MONITOR (AW2725DF): The worldās first 360Hz QD-OLED* gaming is here. The AW2725DF brings together a competition-ready 360Hz refresh rate with the beautiful color and vibrance you can only get on a QHD QD-OLED panel. With infinite contrast ratio and VESA DisplayHD...
@trim crane
They do
^but im running a 27"
not on amzon i wanna buy it from there
i want a 27 too
1440p 360Hz OLED?
i mean you cant really go wrong with it
i would prefer flat panels that support UHBR20 because DSC is kinda annoying to be forced to use
Im using a 1440p 360Hz ULMB 2 monitor (PG27AQN)
but yeah 1440p 360Hz OLED is goated, even if you dont have the hardware to take full advantage of it
He does
His running the 4070ti is rlly enough
O nvm misread
u think that one is better then the allinewear one
You ain't gonna notice the difference between DSC or no DSC
whats that
its mostly the whole tabbing in and out of games
thats the thing that HELLA bothers me
Just a compression algorithm needed to run a lot of these panels at super high refresh rates/resolutions without the need for displayport 2.1
but @trim crane the monitor u said dosent have oled
yeah
Use borderless windowed and in the games that don't support that wait 2 seconds š¤·āāļø
i tried a 1440p 240Hz OLED was cool but it had text fringing which I didnt like, also OLEDs of today dont have enough of a refresh rate to compensate for persistence blur
360Hz even
thats why I need pwm
or at least idk 720Hz or something ridiculous on OLED
He can get a
BUT i did like OLED it was very neat
LG moniter
colors were punchy
i mean still the IPS I have now is still out of the better non mini led ones in terms of color and response times
so in overall whats better the one u have or the alienware @trim crane
idk
its honestly a matter of motion clarity or color
both are versatile in their own respects
i heard really good things about the alinewear one
Theyve upgraded
the alienware does have VRR flicker in low light environments sonif thats an issue
thats generally one of the problems with OLEDs
A dark room or off lighting solves it
and POSSIBLE burn in, otherwise its great
Newer OLED tech are hard to burn in tho
im in a dark room
only burn in I got still is the 16:9 square
personally have not noticed any flicker on mine
u have the alinwear one ?"
yes
how is it
I like it
does it matter if u use amd or navida for it
but have not had any other OLED screen
Nope
cuz i have a 4070 ti rn
for the DW it does, for the DWF it doesn't
then why do they say amd prim on it
oh yeah it also has HDMI 2.0 if that matters
and doesn't require an expensive af FPGA
nvidia
you can't even update the firmware of the AW3423DW without an nvidia card
also I live in a west facing penthouse which sucks for me because no ac and I have the sun bothering me
oh also
but we not speaking of that one
with all OLEDs, you DO NOT want direct sunlight on the panel for extended periods of time
yea just wanted to mention it
that one is quirky
my room is dark no lighht comes in
which is why it was worth mentioning
I use the MSI Mpg 271qrx since a month and im very happy with it, its the same 360Hz panel as the Alienware and GIGABYTE AORUS FO27Q3 ones
also should add
alienware prob has the best warranty and warranty service of all options
Never had issues with MSI
do yall know any good oled 240hz monitors
The AW is cheaper but got less features, the MSI got the most afaik
was thinking
Budget?
That's an nvidia issue not a DSC issue
under 1k
Wanna go wide curved screen?
if itās in budget sure
its a shame nvidia is doing nothing about it, I domt even know why tho
But u canāt find a 360hz 2k oled msi monitor on Amazon
@old marlin
you are aware you can buy stuff at places other than amazon?
Wym
Cuz american amazon, not german
Msi is not an American brand so I donāt trust other websites cuz they not from the USA only Amazon is trusted
That msi one is really really good
Amazon most of the time more expensive
Also love the 90W USB port to charge stuff
I rather pay 100$ extra then get scammed
And Amazon is fast to deliver if it was on a diff web it would take at least a month or 2
Never got scammed, bought mine from a normal vendor and got it delivered next day
U have the msi one ?
Yes
How is it ?
Really good
Itās like the allinewewr but diff brand
Same specs in everything
Whatās the price on it
American dollar
Only thing that was annoying is the 4h OLED care interval, but i set it to 14h now
Paid 999ā¬
My C2 has this annoying 'turn down the brightness?' thing pop up every 4 hours.
(I already have the brightness at 20)
Would be like 1100 in us$
Imagine considering Amazon a safe store above others š
Yea itās more expensive
Yep.. Its kind of a joke
For alinewewr I only paid 970$ with fast shipping and everything
I will say Amazon is pretty easy with returns, generally does not give a shit and signs off on them.
When ordering from random dropshippers it's generally the safest option.
As i said, same glossy panel, just different ammount/set of features
Im not too big with UWs, maybe you wanna check out the YT channel "monitor unboxed" (sub channel from HU)
decided on
asus swift 27 oled
840⬠from DELL (including delivery) 890⬠on Amazon
Imagine doing so and then get sent dirt
And paying amazon premium at the same time..
NA THATS A BIG L BRO
Exactly my point. Amazon returns are such a crapshoot. You might get sent a "new" product that's been used before, or worse - something entirely different than what you thought.
Im running aorus fo27u2p
Welcome to amazon where everything is a 50 50 unless verified
The one in 360hz and OLED 0.03ms
And you have to pay more, but got "free delivery"
Thats reminds me if u pay 50 bucks per month or 70 just for free delivery
They are literally trolling ppl and they even fall for it
Or worse, defend it
I barely buy over amazon, even if i have to pay for shipping, the total price is still lower than what amazon offers me
Also paying 9⬠a month, even without ordering stuff..
If ya add it all up, u are better off with other shops
Nice
The OLED gang grows, now we need fellow Cardboard members xD
Agreed XD
Sed were gonna be amazing
For gaming especially.
Sed news
LCDS were the worst thing to happen to display tech
"It's cheaper and lighter!!!"
Looks like dogshit
Ehh, don't really agree with that.. But ok
I very much agree for gaming.
And movies / tv
Wonder how good CRTs (and SED) would have been by now if it never stopped development.
Early 2000s CRTs already had very good specs.
1440p 90 Hz, 1080p 120 Hz etc.
And of course 90 Hz on a CRT looks a million times better than 90 on an OLED or LCD.
60HZ on a CRT looked better than 120HZ on OLED or LCD
Plasma came close, but it had it's own issues.
Yes.
I remember playing Crysis in the 40s and even 25fps in certain sections
It was fantastic. On a LCD or even OLED? It'd give me a headache
That's one of the reasons why people feel the need to upgrade so much. Now that things don't look good at 60 and even 120 depending on content people have to upgrade.
If 60 fps had perfect motion clarity and without any stutter people would care far less about 200 fps and such.
And people wouldn't spend as much money on upgrading.
or the bulbous display glass, or the lack of sharpness, or
Eh it was a long time before lcd had high enough ppi to be sharper
always looked crisper though
They certainly aren't flawless. I am a big CRT fan but some benefits of early LCDs that people generally skip over when trashing them (and I feel like they deserve to be trashed) is lack of things like geometry and focus issues.
Those are nice things to not have to think about.
By the time LCDs were around crts had auto geometry
Source lived though the transition and still have most of the displays
I mean towards the end of the lifetime the issues of CRTs were weight/bulk and it being dim?
+LCDs were starting to get really cheap
Just size/weight, eyestrain, grid connections, and old vs new
LCDs weren't bright then either
I didn't hop on lcd until around mid 00s
when they started getting decent on contrast and ghosting was less of an issue
Early LCD ghosting is so bad. Modern day ghosting of let's say a typical decent IPS does not bother me. I find the MPRT blur far more bothersome.
There's an LGR video where he uses an old laptop and the display is so slow that when he plays a sidescroller things almost just disappear when in motion.
50MHz Cyrix CPU! 12MB RAM! Windows 3.1! All this for under 3 grand in 1994. Essentially a Zenith Z-Star in disguise, the Statesman is a halfway enjoyable notebook computer that falls short in several ways. And it's all the more amusing to play around with because of it.

I know, I grew up with them
that's also why we waited so long with adapting them at home
It's crazy to me how manifacturers could release stuff like this with the huge glaring 'defect' during motion.
Especially since CRTs were the most common display types and so people actually had a reference for great motion unlike these days where most people are kinda clueless.
its the best they had at the time, people still needed their laptops
Yep
if you're not gaming the ghosting isn't that much of an issue
the concept of the gaming pc and gaming peripherals didn't start to really become a thing until the 00s
kids these days with their 500hz monitors, 8k mice and 4090s couldn't even begin to fathom the sheer arcaicness of 90s computing
I got a og apple cimea from a guy who didn't like how big it was
Like 5-6mo after release
Would of been 04?
Then in 07 I went to 3x24
And 08 5x24
Samsung Unpacked 2024 gave us a lot of gadgets. This is a first look at all of them.

I can vividly remember the first time I saw over 1k pixels
first time I saw hardware 3d acceleration will stick with me to the grave
glquake
after years of playing software rendered
Glide man
I stuck by 800x600 for a long time
yeah that was another thing, never had any larger crt than 17" before moving on to lcd
Before I had a 800x600 crt
Then after the 1600x1200 I got a Dell 21 inch Trinitron
10/10 would do that upgrade
Same res on crt
And size, crt blew it out the water.
Only thing bad was screen bond wires and size
1600x1200@100hz was amazing
samsungs new ultra watch, man this design is unique
Wonder how it compares to e.g. Garmin Epix Pro
nah i dont think it has the dial, only regular watch
this ultra watch has 100 hours max so garmin is still probably the battery champ, hard to beat them
Buds3 Pro look decent
Can anyone help me to choose the best build? I found some sellers selling 60HE+ prebuilt
Did they drop the dial again?
the non ultra watch still has the dial i believe
hmm maybe they did drop it? doesnt seem to be a dial there
Hmm... I can either get 7950X3D new for 2500zÅ/580⬠or used 7800X3D for 1150zÅ/270ā¬, tis the question
Ultra looks like it has it
tf is Galaxy AI?
mkbhd didnt show it off in the video above but maybe it does
galaxy ai looks like just a brand name for some fancy dsp
cheaper than the 1000 euro apple ultra i guess
that's the non-ultra
apple too but only the ultra
I have a decent, so 1k is nothing
samsung ring not in NL š¦
the ring seems kinda weird to me
ā¬2099 for the Fold 6, 256gb and ā¬1259 for the Flip 6, 256gb
yea idk if theres a dial or not, cant find any info on their webpage
the ultra has one
ah cool
The Samsung watch ultra is so cursed looking
It's a circular watch face on a squared off body
That's how normal watches ate
its kinda cool imho
The strap is the odd part
Nah this is cursed
i dont want a (smart)watch
Why they didn't taper the body to the strap, who knows
Ring is good for pure health
If you want to wear a dumb watch
fair
i'd rather get a polar strap instead of ring personally
are you gonna wear a polar strap 24/7
oh nvm haha, i misunderstood that
Health == exercise
How do batteries work on a smart ring ??
not necessarily
The whole inside is curved too
same as on buds
7 days apparently
$399.99 for the ring š https://www.theverge.com/24194938/samsung-galaxy-ring-hands-on-price-unpacked-2024
No
But how do they physically fit inside it?
batteries are fairly soft
bend it i guess
maybe its an offer to get one for free or discounted on the next galaxy s phones
yea, they are soft
Idk if I want a bent battery in a device from a company who made the note 7
lol. they have a very good track record since
True true .... But with non bent batteries
what is the issue with bending a battery lol
plenty of other smart rings on the market tho, they seem to be fine
The Oura ring is priced at ā¬329 or ā¬399 depending on the model
Don't think that Samsung have a membership fee on the ring though
How do you know if the ring fits?
you get a fit kit
You can test your size
dont think theres a subscription
Nice!
but wow the fold 6 is expensive here 2155 eur for the 12gb model
What's the Oura ring?
basically the same thing
its a health ring thats been around for a while
What... what does it do?
Rings are kinda impractical for training though
Scam.
It's a "smart ring"
The "Titanium White" is kinda clean
man that is ugly
Yep

Circle watch face and bezels on a square body
Why?????
is this a official samsung picture??
Yeah or it's from their site
ive slammed my watch against rocks, metal bars so much more i wonder if the white would chip quicker
looks like a chinese clone
Mine is pink and not a scratch on it
we got apple watch ultra at home
i dont treat my watch well, its still in pristine condition
wonder if the white titanium would show marks quicker than raw
probably
Smartwatches should be used so don't mind if they get scratches/dings
yeah same i agree with that
resell value š
doesn't matter i give it away to a family member when its that old anyways
I could see that with Apple products or maybe Garmin but a battery is still a battery and it would be in need of a change
I've had my Garmin since 2021 and atm. it's more expensive than when i bought it
fuck me thats ugly
Don't really know what to think of this ''Iconic blade light'' thingy
imo it's stupid
like what are you gonna do with that
take out an earbud to see if you got a notification?
Feel like it's more like to notify others ''Look at this lighthead''
how is it iconic
It says so

has a 6⬠subscription fee
if you wanna use it for 2 years or longer the samsung one is actually cheaper lol
There's the Ultrahuman ring too https://www.ultrahuman.com/ring/buy/fi/
One that would enable calls would be pog too

Samsungs Galaxy Ring https://www.samsung.com/us/rings/galaxy-ring/buy/galaxy-ring-titanium-silver-sm-q50xnzsaxar/
thank you i'll look into that
the capsule makers are poison
expensive to keep buying the pods and it's just more garbage into this world, for average coffee
you can make average coffee just buy buying cheap coffee
The only way I could justify having a capsule coffee machine is with reusable pods
at that point I feel like there's no reason to have one in the first place, when normal filter brewers have existed for years
Sure, that's just in case you'd happen to have one
I'd never buy it either
yeah :3
I specifically don't have a coffeemaker of any kind as I hate countertop appliances and only really need to make coffee for myself
There is reusable ones but it don't take long to brew with the filter brewers
What do you use then? Nescafe?
Ah one of those
anyone got recommendations for 1440p monitor 1 ms refresh rate doesnt need to be more than 165hz unless someone gives a proper reason why i need more refresh rate
By changing the spring of the Gateron Jade switch to the L45 switch, we have achieved the strongest key switch with a stable keystroke of 3.5mm. Recommended for those who don't like the wobble of the L45.
Sony GDM F520
But idk.
note to self
never listen to soria moria advice ever again
tofu60 aliminium case
foam + polyfill + tape (4 layered)
Gateron Jades (Handlubed with krytox)
gmk clone keycaps
you think its a good build?
Only monitors i've bookmarked is M27Q(Rev.2) , FO27Q3 & Flexmirror but have started to look into 32:9 and also 4K monitors now
The sheer amount of mods sounds like a question for #š§ākeyboard_modding to be honest. š
thank you, i'll look into those recommendations rn i have LG 1440 165hz 1 ms monitor but its starting to go
i was thinking of going into 4k monitors but i play a lot of triple AAA games and i know some cant be played at 4k 60fps consistently
oh im sorry
so 45g spring to replace a 50g spring
doesn't seem like it makes much sense to me
Not a complaint. Just saying you're more likely to get useful opinions over there.
ight i appreciate it i didnt know there was a channel for keyboard moddings! thanks ā¤ļø
I wanted the L45 with no wobble and a 3.5mm keystroke.
changing the spring wouldn't make the l45 have no wobble or a shorter keystroke š¤
I think the jade key switches are less wobbly than the L45.
but you said you put the jade spring into the L45
I'm Japanese and Google translate didn't work properly.
ććć«ć”ćÆ
Same but do play a lot of indie games nowadays also just pondering how i'd like to have my setup so things might change
fair enough
hey guys, i got a question: for gaming do you recommend the L45 or L60 switches?
Whichever you prefer
L80

Real funny.
I am dead serious
L100
https://wooting.io/product/lekker-spring-packs?Weight=Linear80
I use customized L60v2 with L80 springs
ahh alr
Just waiting for the v2 to come out
thats a spring pack when puedo is asking for switches themselvesš
I can't answer the question within their limtations, as I do not like or use either š
But wouldn't L80 springs make the actuation force a tad higher or would there be no noticeable difference?
Heavier to push down, fewer accidental presses.
what switches do you use ?
how much tho, mikrotik already has a pair of dudes for at and under 1k
i got my eyes on you mansen
It's the truth
"The 100GbE QSFP28 interfaces DO NOT support breakout cables."
š¦
big, but a single nvme cache could saturate 100g
I guess dual actuators would make it a little easier
or get a bunch of ram and a single nvme for cache
kek
Is it worth it getting outlet or ex-display RAM? For like... 20⬠less?
sure
Can always buy it and test it
Not really, I'll have to wait for some parts
unless they like let it sit in rain dispaly case ram isnt any different from boxed ram
One kit is ex-display, 6000, seller says they've been tested
Other one is new with torn box, 6400
They cost more or less the same, 1760zÅ/413⬠vs 1780zÅ/417ā¬
2x 48GB sticks
Beeeg ram
should still be able to get 96 for like 350
but idk how converstion rates are so maybe you're getting a bit screwed
There's rarely any fault with ram but there's still a chance
There are some 5200 ones for like 255ā¬, that'd be the cheapest
oh wait it was set to usd nvm then
seems about the same then, would likely go with 6000 unless the timings are super loose
because >6000 is still harder to get running especially on higher capacity
There's something like this (40-40-40-77)
5200 will still be way better than 2666 I'm running right now
These ones are for 250⬠https://www.gskill.com/product/165/377/1711955176/F5-5200J4040A48GX2-RS5K
Which mobo are you going to buy?
having the time of my life putting two soundbokses together, a 3 and a 4. paired wirelessly, there is a noticeable delay between the two, but using good old aux works perfectly š
B650 Livemixer
Balatro 9000+ FPS - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, SilentiumPC Signum SG7V EVO TG ARGB ATX Mid Tower
i love that motherboard, looks great
wait, there is one, but it's minor
https://www.corsair.com/us/en/p/memory/cmh96gx5m2b6000c30/vengeance-rgb-96gb-2x48gb-ddr5-dram-6000mt-s-cl30-memory-kit-black-cmh96gx5m2b6000c30 This should be Hynix M-die
Which you've already got
These are the ex-display ones, exact same model
Why a 7950x3d tho
its for work
Do you really need the boost in productivity? A 7800x3d still has pretty good perf
How much work tho that's the big question
its worth it
Enough to be worth all that extra money?
Aight then, let's give it a shot
Plan is to get RAM and mobo now, CPU and PSU next month after a bonus and GPU somewhere down the line, I cleaned and replaced paste on brother's 1070Ti and it stopped freaking out for now
Why not wait till you can build something whole and functional?
Money
I'm guessing
You're expecting prices to go up on the RAM and Mobo in a month?
Because there will always be some expenses down the line, and if I won't start with smaller purchases, I'll never get to buy the whole setup all at once
I like how this motherboard is xalled the livemixer
Yet uses a Realtek ALC897
Also one thing i do find odd @umbral heron if this is for a workstation why not go for an x series chipset
Get pcie 5
I'd pay the little extra if i were you
PCIe 3 is more than enough for me
workstation doesnt mean you instantly max out everything a pc can offer
and the b650 ones have gen5 pcie so thats all you need
Not this one
yes this one?
Supports AMD Ryzen⢠8000 and 7000 Series Processors; 14+2+1 Phase Power Design, SPS; 4 x DDR5 DIMMs, Supports Dual Channel, up to 7200+ (OC); 3 PCIe 4.0 x16, 1 M.2 Key-E for WiFi; Graphics Output Options: 1 HDMI, 1 DisplayPort; 7.1 CH HD Audio (Realtek ALC897 Audio Codec), Nahimic Audio; 1 Blazing M.2 (PCIe Gen5x4),, 2 Hyper M.2 (PCIe Gen4x4),, ...
Look

guess I could have written pcie m.2 to be precise
since that is all you need really aside from very specific weird things
Omfg im retarded
lol
tired
I swear i had read 4.0
Oh well xd
https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/X670E-GAMING-PLUS-WIFI @umbral heron here's what i used for my build
I love MSIās dragon mascot
Got it for like 100$ off so i was happy
That's like twice as expensive
same
Well it was on sale
I didnt pay full price
The on sale price was good enough for me xd
I don't really see the reason to get X670
I have B450 now, it works fine
But i get that full price its pricy
All depends on the price
If there'a a good deal why not
But yeah b650 is a better value at msrp
even if you get a good deal, if you still pay more and dont make use of anything it's not really worth it usually
fair enough
It's a really pretty board
Yeah kinda nudged me to spend the little extra haha
I should get an msi dragon plush
My gpu is silver too so it just looks nice and clean
i agree
Btw @ashen spindle i got my refund on my defective board
victory
They charged me a 10$ restocking fee for the extra cpu i had ordered just in case tho even tho ot was sealed
Waiting for paycheck patiently
But hey look it was worth ordering it as a just in case everything fucks up peace of mind
Because it wasn't defective they chsrged me 10$ as a fee to take the sealed cpu back
Cuz it wasn't their fault technically that i didnt neex it
Must be sad not living in the EU š
I mean 10$ i can live without lol
Ah shucks, I have to wait until tomorrow with order
Rip
I have a system
I use Pay Later option during checkout
Then wait 1~3 days until they'll send me all legal stuff as in I took a loan for an order
Just as I get it - I pay it back
I have a great credit score that way
i just pay my stuff cash
loaning and pay later shit stresses me out
Like what if everything goes to shit all of a sudden
What do i do then
Ok maybe im just paranoid
In 24~72 hours?
Besides it's not like I'm spending money I don't have
But i just hate the idea of owing money like if i use my credit card i insta pay it on my app lol
Because im stressed about forgetting to pay it
having credit cards with tiny purchases on them is also super good for the score
how about using autopay?
What if an emergency happens and all your savings get siphoned
Somehow
I don't have a CC, only debit
Catastrophically
Not sure how, I do have separate savings account
Like what if your house catches on fire and you're stuck waiting for insurance money
the credit score system we have here is chaning and there is a chance it's basically becoming useless lol
so I dont care about it at all
I do the exact same shit
Debit doesn't work online here
do cc companies in your country charge for them?
here in the us its generally beneficial to use a cc for most transactions in terms of rewards
debit here works exactly the same way as cc when buying stuff online here
Nico found that confusing at first when i explained that he needed a CC here
Lol
same when i was told that by an american haha
In my bank it's 40⬠per year or 80⬠per year if you spent less than 4000⬠in given year
Debit one is free, given I make at least 5 payments monthly
