Yeah taxing unrealized gains is complicated is a real issue
A lot of companies need the US to function, they don't make the economy, they just exist inside of it
And I would agree executive compensation seems a bit excessive
Executive compensation is determined by shareholders
But I'll say if your goal is to discourage investors from investing by taking away money you're just stifling economic growth
You read every point I made wrong then
I am not saying they shouldn't invest, I am saying they should have less money
They can still invest
but the majority of a company's cash is going to come from consumers rather then investors
The first thing I saw in chat is the problem is dumb investors fucking up the market
Yes
But your solution is to just not have a market
Mostly because they have too much money, and lead the economy by the nose
You still didn't read what I said and made up something else in your head
Us has outpaced european economy so much
I don't think you understand the implications of what you're suggesting
Europe had to recover from WW2
I don't think you understand
Europeâs economy barely grows
Many key European states are projected to shrink in gdp this year
Investors still exist, but are a secondary concern compared to consumers
Taking away money from investors so they can't invest is literally just reducing investment
Us is basically only major western country still growing
Idk how many ppl realize that
Search up âeurope vs us gdp over timeâ
Many articles going over this
They still invest money, but now instead companies are more focused on consumers as more money comes from them instead
I think you also misunderstand investing
In 2008, the eurozone and the US had equivalent gross domestic products (GDP) at current prices of $14.2 trillion and $14.8 trillion respectively (âŹ13.1 trillion and âŹ13.6 trillion). Fifteen years on, the eurozone's GDP is just over $15 trillion, while US GDP has soared to $26.9 trillion.
The money always comes from customers
Wherever a company fails to grow, another smaller company will grow in its place. Allowing for more competition
Investment money is just leverage to make more money from consumers
If things are really bad here you can always leave the country
GDP means nothing if the larger market isn't being served
The purpose of investment money isn't just to help companies pay their employees
You know what also would allow companies to make more money from consumers
Consumers having more money
Even if it ends up that way with dumb business ideas...
I'll say if you stifle economic growth, everyone including low class consumers will have less money in the long run
Helping disadvantaged people move up in class is important but that's a different conversation
If there's a conversation to be said about high taxes it's that imo
Not removing agency from investors
How does consumers having more money stifle the economy?
Because they didnât work for that money
Removing investor cash stifles the economy
Less work = stifle the economy
It's not about people getting money they didn't work for
It's about businesses requiring cash to function
Nah Idt itâs that important
I guess
I think businesses can take on more loans if they needed still
Would still be a negative tho ofc
How does consumers having more money lead to less work?
I think the US Europe comparison is kind of off topic since Europe is all different countries with different economies
You keep focusing on this one side of the equation
Did it occur to you that this isn't a zero sum game?
I posted this to show off that gpd does not matter
If most of the population isn't getting any benefit
In 2008 europe bottom 50% had 22% of the wealth and approximately still do now
In 2008 USA bottom 50% had 15% and decreased to 12%
I think a more useful graph would be income of lower and middle class people
Indicating the market isn't serving the needs of most the population
Once you consider that USA gdp doubled and europe stagnated, bottom 50% of ppl from us actually got a 50% benefit over Europeans
Who cares if the rich are extremely rich if lower and middle class is still doing better than other countries
Yeah, but then you gotta compare it to costs of everthing
So whatâs your point
Wealthy Americans getting richer faster than âpoorâ Americans
It's unfair :(
Poor Americans still getting richer than europeans
Inequality is unfair so it's more unfair :(
Yes it isn't fair that a man can work an 80 hour work week and still be in poverty
Yeah but that's a different point than what your graph is showing
Basically if the top 1% of Americans threw like 20% of their money into a fire, inequality would not infcrease and us economy would still grow faster than europe
Lower class Americans are doing great, âproblemâ is wealthy Americans are doing even greater
I mean if they did throw 20% of their money into a fire then the buying power of the dollar would go up and the poor would be able to afford more
Sure lets say they burned 20% of their capital
Donât pretend you donât understand
Anyways Iâm dipping Idt any thing can change your mind
And businesses would have less assets to leverage
Got some ''new'' tech đ
8bitdo based
Audeze nuts
I haven't used planar headphones before but they're really cool
Currently testing them with a few tracks from Yotto he has a few old tracks with some amazing Moog sounds
am more of a roland guy myself
He uses prophets too they're also amazing
I used to have a prophet 12
Ooh nice đ
sold most of my hardware apart from a few things
a korg ms2000 and behringer td-3 and pro-1 is what remains of my synth stuff
got some restoration stuff too, crumar performer and alesis ion
I want an Ensoniq SQ2 one of these days, I love the sound
Listening to some demos of it sounds good
Some of those settings remind me of Alphaville
I had an ESQ-1 long ago
nice crunchy sounding thing
had some really weird quirks in its old digital interface too which you could exploit musically
for instance you could change lfo rate and the changes wouldn't apply until you hit a new key
oh cool. I never played around with real synthesizers, only with tracker applications on PC. milkytracker (shitty FT2 clone) had some weird quirks where you could create sounds that I can't replicate with my newer software
yeah I keep an old 90s sampler around for that lofi sound too
I can sorta get that sound with modern daws etc but its faster to just use the sampler
he he, when the interpolation artifacts make the entire sound
it has the gnarliest most aliasing pitch shifting algo ever too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=840TidqJWNg Don't know if you like this type of music but i enjoyed this song, listen to a lot of different music genres not only electronic music but yeah

just reeks of 90s hiphop and underground electronica
I dunno if you can "get" that kind of sound if you're not an old nerd
I listen to similar stuff
lofi radio to study/relax to seems to be doing well among the younglings
or was it lofi hiphop beats
but yeah its not the same nostalgia factor for them
reminds me of the video game Rez for the PS2

absolutely killer game btw
there is a newer version on steam for VR, you bet I will be all over that if I ever get a set
Oh that's what that game is called i've seen some clips of it, soundtrack seems good too
Might have to play it would probably be quite cool in VR
goes great with some mushrooms
I found an alternate ending when I finished the game with full health while out of my mind on acid once, and I screamed in happiness
Is it possible to bind "Switch desktops" and "Show all windows" to specific keys?
not directly but you can make a bind with the keycombinations you need
anyone used Dell Alienware AW2521H - 360hz IPS?
so idea is the same as binding ctrl+c to one button to make it a "copy" button
I would like to hear some reviews
Steve Jobs was right back in 2007: if smartphones were going to evolve, their physical QWERTY keyboards had to go. But there's a lot of convenience, reassurance, and even fun that comes with keys â and looking back after 17 years, it's possible that as a society, we threw the buttons out with the bathwater.
So letâs change that. Iâm Michael Fi...

yeah correct, but how can it be done?

hi, i wanted to ask what the difference between these two things are
alright thanks

so glad we are past the time of hd ready vs fullhd
that was some annoying label shit
Double vertical and double horizontal
2x2=4
đ
And it doesnât matter because itâs just a new image for the right windows keys
Keycode is the same
For now until they get it working properly
This is still a manufacturing prototype
Why does 1440p 120fps Xbox series s look so much worse than 1440p 120fps on ps5 (no hdr on either)
maybe because you compare a console that is like 60% of the cost of the other one
@cursive summit
why does my user profiles keep switching? and what is the bind for it? and how do i remove it? i never ever want to switch profiles
Not that I know, but what keyboard
No? Itâs still going to be right windows key that just now doesnât open Startmenu anymore which tbf barely anyone uses right windows key for anyway
In practice it doesn't replace the right windows key at all, most laptops don't have that key in the first place, it just forces them to change the keyboard layout, to include the extra key.
Oh really? Never really paid attention to that
is it better performance wise to install a game on ssd with small amout of space left like 60 GB or HDD with 1,8 TB\
In most cases yes
You should always keep about 10-15% free on any drive.
To allow them to properly defrag and garbage sort.
Still for the performance of said game running it on the ssd will generally be better.
Donât need to leave much free space on ssd
That's not what I was taught đ
They donât really need to move data around
I do think filling them up comes at a cost of slc cache though?
This is fine đ«

Havenât looked into it for a while now but cache shouldnât be part of total size so that also shouldnât matter
It all depends on how well your SSD is overprovisioned.
If you use it and donât have a separate chip as cache
If you're not using any overprovisioning, you're going to wear out cells
Ehhh
Might be something worth looking into as the only info you find for that as first results is really old
But I think moderns ones mostly have a separate block that acts as cache and would be capacity for running trim
Either way a form of caching used on modern ssd's is to run part of the nand in slc mode for better performance when the drive is not full.
This of course works less if the drive is full.
If you use QLC I would use it I guess
Also used on tlc and mlc but decent tlc nand is fast enough on it's own. Still allows for faster bursts
Of course generally there is some static dram / slc cache in general.
I feel ya
I donât buy QLC anymore and for the rest I donât bother with OP really
Tbf if one is almost full I delete stuff or move around so I have more place to put something else on it
Most consumers do however.
Donât think QLC is the most common option
If you can find numbers that say otherwise, sure. But that's how I remember it for several years.
QLC from what I seen just doesn't offer compelling costs savings atm
Even per gb the cheapest drives are a mix of tlc and qlc
It took a while for QLC to even exist and now it doesnât even save much anymore so idk if it was ever the most used one
I do expect it to be the future at some point, slowly creeping up, but it is a slow transition.
man ayaneo will never continute to not be whack
for the weekly handheld launch we have
nintendo ds?
makes it easier to pick it up though
At least they aren't sourcing MLID
are they just writing via ai now
next-gen Zen 6 CPUs for clients which include Ryzen chips
tf is that supposed to mean
What is a 2.5D interconnect though'
Well, Threadripper?
Epyc is also technically "for clients"
Based on Zen
So bit of too harsh nitpicking from you quin
Still, what is a 2.5D interconnect
Last I checked we live in 3D
threadripper is still called ryzen
just means some InFO packaging by tsmc
and no epyc isn't client so its not medusa
Different consumer segment though than Medusa
Zen goes into a lot of segments nowadays
yeah and the other segments arent called medusa xD
Well that's not what they said either
Although tbf they are all over the place if you read into it
First time they misspelled Ryzen 6 into Ryzen 5
Then they call Ryzen 6 as Medusa as a whole stack
And only like in the end of the article they correctly identfy (Medusa CPUs (Ryzen Zen 6 Desktop))
Just wccftech trash, but hey I like that site, comments are funny to read
if you want delusional posts just read anandtech forums or something
has at least a normal website attached to it
because 5 is almost released
Well yeah in.. this quarter right?
This half at least
Could be a dual launch with Zen 5 and RDNA4
yes
A bit early to get reliable info then
Completely forgot that we are only on Zen 4 rn
for codenames or how stuff looks like? nah thats locked in for a long time already
Technical specifications
specs like 2.5d interposer? nah thats long done and wont change
Alright
What exactly does a "2.5D" interposer achieve in practice?
Says in the article, higher memory bandwidth or something like that?
interconnect between chiplets
Ain't that our beloved infinity fabric?
that runs through the interposer
look how tsmc slides show InFO examples for chips
but if you want insane comments just read anandtech forums
one guy currently is full shizo and thinks rdna4 is a refresh and the 7600xt that is coming is rdna4 instead of some reused sku
Never quite looked at the forums there but that sounds like fun.
Still better than some of the comments on Phoronix though.
Phoronix trolls and the people unable to not feed them are a joy to read
The guy also doesn't really bother to deal with them.
I am still unsure if they are really trolls or just have terrible opions.
troll more often than not I think. there was one forum post to an article about an X11 security flaw being fixed, that post said "One step closer to perfection." I have been stealing that joke ever since, it's perfect
There are still a lot of die-hard X11 defenders
I still use it myself but only because Wayland is currently worse for my setup + use case
but wayland being awful even after 14 years of development doesn't mean X is great...
Mmmmmm..... 1440p 240hz or 1080p 360hz? Or 1k for 1080p 540hz?
do yall think the 80he will have the same switches as 60he
More of a topic for #đâwooting80he
But yes - We've said as much. We're working on switch improvements across the board.
do you care about motion blur more or resolution?
I would suggest the first for most cases
i play 1440p 165hz
and my second monitor is 1440 75hz
logically 1440p works
but back of my mind is like
it would be cool
the increased fps would be cool?
4k240 is great
Allows for 1080p240 esports
And the coming 4k240/1080p480 is hype
Yeah the new oleds are looking spicy
What are we looking at
Some 3D printer?
Pleasant never took you for a lanaposter

Is there a wooting two he channel btw?
Not anymore.
how do I let Chrome on Flathub access Breeze theme???
it wont use the breeze dark theme on my Deck
itâs technically #archived_the_lekker_switch
but it got changed cuz nobody buys 2hes anymore since the 60he came out
Mnope.
False on both accounts
I just bought one lol
Lekker switch was always for what the name suggests and full-size is still selling
In non fps centric things itâs still the most selling formfactor
A keyboard specific channel gets created when the product launches and gets removed when it's done launching. 60he channel is overdue a delete
where are you supposed to talk about 60he with out the 60he channel?
General, lekker switch, modding for modding it etc.
keebs talk?
you mgiht wanna talk about a diff kb in keeb
and?
so the 60he channel is for 60he
yes and once its released to the public and finalized, its just another keyboard with a lekker switch
you can talk about the lekker switch and not talk about the 60he in the channel
By that logic we can never delete a product channel
yes
What if I want to mention something about my wooting one
talk about it in the wooting one channel
Yeah no thatâs stupid
yea this server has far too many channels already
If a channel gets too much activity you can make threads or then make a separate one
ur over complicating it
just have the channels for dudes to talk about the 60he, 80he or such
you TWO can just deselect the channels if they make ur lifes that much worse
What exactly is the issue with talking in #archived_keebs_talk about a 60he?
whats the issue with talkin in 60he about a 60he?
theres already too many channels
deselect them then đ
i did, theres still too many channels
Itâs also about how it looks and works for new people on the server
Very easy to get overwhelmed or lost if you enter and see 500 channels
if there were more users and moderators maybe it could be worth
Already enough people ask in game talk about support etc.
yea people are already confused with this small number of channels
I could make the following argument about the existance of specifically the 60he 80he and uwu channel:
The 60he requires some layering / may hold questions specific to how to work with a 60% (other than that it could be removed imo)
80he just got announced so a separate channel makes sense.
UwU has keycap trading and a lot of people talking about just recieving them.
That being said I really wouldn't mind rolling the uwu and 60he into a wooting keyboards channel.
peoples ability to not understand stuff is not a excuse to delete the channels
also the lekker switch channel could hang there as well.
actually it is, because its work for the moderators, half? of which are volunteers
and the other half are employees who's time could be better used for making keyboards and stuff
it is a public server for a company so you want to accomodate the dumbest user possible
and as you could only reply with a different question it appears there is no downside to deleting the board specific channel;s
(he's talking about you guys)
Wait, there's more than 4 channels? đł
Isn't the us trying to make them illegal to register
yeah but you know
them japs are up to no good!11
good ol made in USA model t on the other hand
USA! USA! ....USA!.....?
or something along those lines, probably
I didn't know a model T went fast enough for it to be possible to crash it
cars have gotten vastly more safe and durable and even then, crashing into a solid object over 20ish mph is a bad time
i wonder how many farts they needed to train the voice assistant with so that it wouldn't register a fart as a command
in 50 years there will be documentaries about kohler's secret fart sfx data server
hey at least the product is useful
people are way too bad at being clean
The future is all about connectivity - how fast and why not yesterday? Ayar Labs is in a unique position, having a multi-year lead in the rest of the industry in offering integrated photonics, giving chip-to-chip bandwidth across the datacenter at 4 Tbps. Insane.

Intel is really trying hard to beat out TSMC
If they do, and they start fabbing in US, Taiwan is going to lose out on a lot
Is there a way to put songs onto an iPod without needing iTunes?
Intel stock should soar eventually
afaik not without haxxing a 3rd party firmware onto it
o..
if Apple can fit a 30 pin cable + headphone jack onto a device this small, they have no excuse on iPhones :P
The silicon shield is weakening at a concerning pace
Between nearshoring and the sanctions placed on China forcing them into domestic production, it definitely is
I'm not talking about whether or not TSMC will continue to be the global leader in chips
I'm talking about the geopolitical defense that industry provides to the island
there isnt enough advanced fabbing happening outside or is even planned to think its weakend
There are huuuge factories being spun up in Texas and the US Midwest
those are quite far behind in what they can make
Their capabilities are on a log scale, not a linear
Pulling numbers out of my ass, it's easy for them to get to 80% of the capabilities and technical expertise, difficult but expected to get to 90%, how relevant is that last 10%? Is it worth spending literal trillions on defending the island half a world away?
what iâve learned so far is you donât fuck around with mark and his numbers
I certainly don't have the answer to that question
its also that stuff like the specific nodes for automobile are staying in taiwan with the current fab plans
so it's not just that the 2 most advanced nodes are staying there
Sure, but in the case of that cold war going hot, how critical to the US economy and more specifically the US defense industry is that really?
can type more than two sentences when this raid is over in like 10

for now? very
with current plants still very, unless intel does the opposite of what they did the last decade+ which is a tough bet
I wouldn't bet on Intel doing anything remotely useful đ
I have no idea on keyboards, but 70 of the linear 60 lekker switches cost 40 bucks. My 60 he cost 200.
Is the case and software just so expensive or am I tripping?
There's a fair chunk of margin in both products, but the details on the cost of goods sold is confidential
So it wouldn't have been significantly cheaper if I had just bought every components (if they were on sale) sepperately and assembled it myself?
I am too interested for my own good
unless you get the raw components and make the software yourself too xD
umm, the PCB that does the whole thing
kinda missing that
As I said, I don't have any idea on how keyboards work
well, in the case of a HE keyboard, the pcb contains pretty much everything special
the switches are 3 plastic pieces, a spring and a magnet
the sensing is done on the board
so the PCB is a significant chunk of the cost, since it contains a lot of electronic components
so for one we have the fab being like 1.5 to 2 nodes behind @marsh glade the total wafer output starts at like 4k wpm this year up to 20k wpm eventually, which is .. 2% of their current total output, if not less because that's the numbers from 2021
then you have the thing with packaging, apple invested into a packaging center for their chips that will work in tandem but you will still have orders that they will need to ship to taiwan or malaysia or something to get the die packed onto the substrate
they could make automotive chips in the US fab too but then you'll need to tell apple they wont get chips, so good luck with that
intel ftw
if intel accidentall reverse what they did the last decade+ sure, then intel has capacity in us/eu and could be a cause for them not needing tsmc as much
you can analyse their roadmaps into whatever scenario to say taiwan is getting fucked, or taiwan is safer then ever, depending on how you think stuff turns out
personally I havent seen anything from intel that would make me trust their execution yet so..
not to mention even if we assume intel takes leadership, stuff works and all
what a lot of assumptions and anecdotes and 0 facts!
the massive capacity alone, if china were to be a cause to take/destroy that all, that would be a financial nightmare for the us
fact is intel is outsourcing more of their stuff so what facts are there to think that their future nodes will work
give me numbers
numbers of what
number of customers with volume on intel nodes so far? numbers of skus that currently remain on intel nodes?
youre saying intel is outsourcin
all but one arrow lake sku is on N3
meteor lake is almost all tsmc
the 22nm is an interposer thats basically just a silicon slab with nothing so that can get ignored
that is one narrative ig
the buyout of tower also failed for intel so they dont have that capacity or manpower

Company has been utterly stagnate for more than a decade. They couldn't innovate their way out of a paper bag
they have a nice roadmap, and amd had also nothing but a roadmap when zen started
but they executed on that, intel so far... in limited amount
Idk why it's relevant to the matter at hand whether bunch of randoms in internet trust or believe whether they can execute or not
oh its not just some randoms but thats how customers decide where to buy the next 10 years of products
when they first announce the 5 nodes in 4 years plan, i3 was planned to have 2H23 for products, what did we get? meteor lake on intel 4 in Q1 2024
Ya'll carry on đ This horse has been beat to death from my part
what number shows they are executing the roadmap then? đ
Does the Anker 735 65W GaN charger come with a USB c to c cable?
I don't think anyone here knows
Someone posted a photo of the thing previously so they would
When I asked for it's output voltages
just look what it says on the included part of the product
It doesn't have a what's in the box section on the site
then look for the same product on another site
Still unsure it'll charge the laptop though
Everyone here was vague with their answer
hey guys does this random 3rd party charger come with x accessory
I was extremely clear, twice, even
Yes or no?
yes
Ok
your laptop wants 20V3.25A and the charger said it can do that
my assumption is yes
good luck!
What
just wishing good luck just in case
I don't want a shark to eat you for example
or lightning to strike you
Oh... Sounds sus
Like you know it won't work xd
Oh ok
Thanks
Imma get two cable then
Oooookkk
I get charge and two USB C to C cables then
Wait
Only need one cable
Cause I have one for my phone
Oh
I need one for the Deck actually
Can never have too many cables
You. Might need some mini usb for your breadboard power supply
I bought a 120w off temu for 5$ will my house blow up?
Yes
Oh nooo
Ikea usb c cables are also fine for charging đ
True xd
Wait
This charger can't charge my laptop and phone at the same time
Cause the laptop needs 65W which is the max this charger can do
Hmmm
Maybe it'll change phone and deck at same time though?
It might but at a lower speed
Oh
Laptop can do 65w or 45w
Got it
20v 3.25A or 15v 3A
So it'll be slower than the proper charger but a lot lot less bulky
Just try it
My laptop charger for a crack on the corner and idk how but I'm scared of letting dust in there in case it goes on fire.... The components inside are exposed
then just close it off with tape
me neither ...
Since it's just another usb-c charger, you could just get a different one.
yeah thats why im asking about the Anker one
seems that brick on this one upscales the 1A to 3.25A
and idk any chargers that can do that
I'd feel safe enough closing it with gaffer tape
upscales?
deep learning voltage upscaler
fancyy!
anyone here used both the logitech superlight and superlight 2? any thoughts, newer one seem worth it?
Great until it breaks three months in, and you need to buy replacement skates after fixing it yourself

I haven't heard of any Grados meself but there's plenty of good stuff about them
One that I'm going to guess has referral links for every product.
Ur trash
Nobody I have seen liked any of their products
The universal consensus is that the sound is bloated af, way too much bass, way too much treble, virtually no mids
Great build quality though
If the sound didn't completely just suck
They paid I think was it DankPods? To review their stuff, and even he had to clench his teeth to say anything positive
This is actually kinda cool, I just don't see why it exists
Is PCIe 5 actually prevalent on mobos nowadays?
no idea but this guy looks like he knows what he's talking about
There's hundreds of headphones that are better than SR-325x
Prolly thousands lel
It's a very peculiar list with a bit of a Grado bias
And a really weird Austrian Audio inclusion which just solidifies that the list is really off
Austrian Audio products deserve to be in worst products lists rather than best
this list sucks
why does this exist
i cant see a purpose for it
unless there are m.2 slots with only 2 lanes available AND it happens to be pcie gen5 but i really dunno if thats a common thing
if it even is
In theory, going 5x2 could make for thinner SSDs, somehow
And also saving lanes, so you could pack more in a motherboard
maybe
Kinda doubling possible SSD slots I guess?
Usually 2 - 3 are available, so maybe we could see up to 6
the ssd thickness is probably not the bottleneck for making anything thinner in a lot of cases though is it? not sure but im just assuming here
i guess doubling slots is valid
does make sense to just use 2 pcie gen5 lanes instead of 2 gen4 lanes to achieve the same thing
Well I meant you could maybe shrink the SSD like, twice in width lel
oh width
Dunno if we have the tech for that though
i mean can we still fit the same amount of nand chips on it like that
& the controller
& probably dram cache
I also, now that I think about it, have never seen an x2 connector
Does an x2 connector even exist
yeah thats the thing
i mean
probably
but theyre either 1 4 8 or 16 for some reason
i think
ok i just google pcie x2 connector and apparently sometimes m.2 slots are pcie 3.0 x2 according to some random post on some random forum
so i guess its a thing?
I don't think it's a thing
oh yeah okay its a thing
It's just an x4 slot running at x2 speeds
It's not about the connector, it's about splitting the lanes between multiple devices.
though I don't see anyone actually making one any time soon either
Bit of a bummer, shrinking SSDs could be good
yeah the only advantage to it is using less lanes now
not useless but i mean most people aren't running out of lanes are they
Nowadays there's the whole thing of stacking M.2 slots one on top of another
With x2 you could have a cluster of 4, in 2x2 in a small area
That'd be incredible for data storage
I can see this becoming useful.
means you can have twice the number of pci-e ssd's running off your cpu.
while still having x16 for the gpu.
Well yes 5x2 is useful just cause you have more lanes for more SSDs
yes but i'm not sure how many people are already using all the lanes they have available for ssds
theres obviously some people doing it
Sadly mobo makers prefer to put fans and RGB, with useless plastic elements on their boards
I have 3 ssd's in my system atm.
Instead of useful features
Methinks mine only has 2 M.2 slots
many use more bandwidth than they have available
all m.2 here
i finally got an m.2 ssd a few months ago
a single current gen ssd is enough to max out every modern chipset
if you add anything else on top of that you are sharing resources
i guess
i should really continue doing this quiz i was doing for uni before the time limit runs out
Ngl, I feel a bit ashamed cause I literally forgot what board I have
And I can't find what board I even have rn
does it not say somewhere in the system information thing in windows if you are using windows
does for me
Fuckin hate ASUS man
I upgraded to this from another ASUS B450 board
That board was a massive sucker
Kept crashing
did you know the primary m.2 slot on that just Doesn't Work
I wanted to buy Gigabyte but this board had a major discount
Gigabyte Aorus is so much better than Asus it's not even funny
i googled around and according to other people's findings online it literally just doesnt work
maybe i was doing something wrong, its a gen4 drive and its a gen3 slot but it should have still worked, right?
I have little experience with Asus, never quite hit the right spot for me price wise.
My past 3 motherboards were Asrock > Gigabyte > Asrock
I would say they both are mostly fine and have their issues.
Gigabyte's dual bios on Z370 was absolutely terrible. Asrock tends to show a lot of non-functional / useless options in bios.
But functionally both are fine.
I've had Giga boards before ASUS, and those always were just nice
Asus just gave me so many problems
This board seems higher end so it works fine, I just don't like how it looks and the bulk of it
my experience with that specific asrock board has told me not to bother with their midrange or low end stuff ever again, their higher end stuff is probably fine seeing as i haven't heard anything bad about that but i'd probably avoid them if possible anyway
At work we use a mix of pretty much everything and it's mostly fine.
asus have always been fine for me but they have gone downhill in the past however long apparently but they've never done me wrong
Asrock sometimes is terrible sometimes is great, everyone has their good and bad generations.
On B650 they are pretty solid
yeah tends to be the case
not looking to upgrade any time soon anyway
5700x is plenty for what I do
i just impulse bought it as an upgrade from my 3600 because it was around 50% off on amazon
Is there a board manufacturer that's never done anything wrong lel
got a friend still using an 8086k because it was limited edition or whatever and he refuses to upgrade
he sees no issue with it even though he is struggling to run some stuff now
On lower end gpu's you would mostly be fine, depending on your workload of course.
he's still using a 1080 aswell so thats probably why
Hm, I've not heard much wrong about Biostar, but it sounds like a low grade board maker
EVGA is sadly, gone
NZXT iirc doesn't make things anymore
I was also using a 1080, until about a year ago.
Biostar is just not worh looking at in consumer space imo.
all i know about biostar is that they made boards and they were midrange or low end or something
They are mostly just a lot smaller, and are behind in engineering.
Don't know about the server space, just talking about consumers stiff
nzxt have b650e and z790 boards, so
i dunno if thats the newest generation for intel anymore but
they seem to be doing something?
NZXT are really mostly rebranded asrock boards.
hm
didnt know that
they are clean looking boards tho
im a fan of the simpler look they have
They look different but under the hood they are Asrock
They are generally more expensive though
better looking than most asrock boards
yeah the z790 is 300 british money
b650e is 320 wow
Wait I have a question, does the 60he have macros?
it has dks and modtap, but no dedicated macros without external programs.
you have #đ»âwootomation
GAMERS
@prisma crag with your home assist do you literally jsut control your devices via the app?
You see this?
Kind of neet concept
Yea, planning for the future is gud
If only motherboard manufacturers would give you two x2s instead of a single X4
Someone needs to make an X8 to 4x2 bifurcation card now lol
Or x4 to dual x2
I suppose an idea would be a x4 m.2 slot that has space for an addon that splits to dual x2 slots
I don't know how mechanically a m.2 splitter would work
I think you need a chip that can do the splitting, forget what they call them
You don't need it if the motherboard supports bifurcation
oh what did wotc do again
Bahaha. Magic the Gathering being caught for accepting AI generated artwork.
oh that one
They of course made a pathetic apology post, after doubling down at first "it's not AI guys, honest! The artifacts are an artistic choice!"
And the AI bros in the replies are defending them, praising them for using it

NVIDIA officially launches its new SUPER series Three new GeForce desktop cards. NVIDIA Founders Edition cards for some of the latest GPUs have been sent out to reviewers. The RTX 4070 SUPER and 4080 SUPER are among these models set to receive this reference edition. In terms of pricing, the RTX 4080 SUPER is slated [âŠ]
4080 price drop is interesting
4080 super ?
I'll believe it when I see it.
AMD should add another X to their cards and launch a refresh to compete!
Like.. 7900XT to... 7900 XTX.. that doesn't sound right
7900XTX to.. 7900XTXX?
The naming scheme is fooked
I have to say though
4070 Super looks like really good value lel
Not far off of 4070Ti, far cheaper
Good to see 4070Ti Super gets 16GB of VRAM
A bit surprising 4080S doesn't get 20
Wasn't thinking of buying Nvidia with their usual prices, but this will defo make me go NV over AMD
Seems like 70 super would still be around 7800xt while costing a nice hundred more
I wonder though, if Nvidia would dare to pull an AMD and copy what AMD are doing
Usually it's just AMD playing catch up to whatever Nvidia cooks up
AMD was first to enable rebar iirc but that was an universal tech so it doesn't really count
I really like the AFMF tech, it's a bit of a bummer that (currently) Nvidia doesn't have one
And I wonder if they would dare to copycat to do their own
Nvidia already did that when they made frame gen
Amd had fluid motion years ago
This is just using it for games
Indeed, but will Nvidia make it driver based that runs on virtually anything
I think DirectX >10 is the only current requirement for AFMF
Idk if Nvidia cares about it if they can just push more to use frame gen
16gb on the 80s... hmm
Did Nvidia's already happen?
No
Today
It would be really funny if we get a rocket lake repeat
With intel announcing arrow lake only for it to be just as bad and amd to be even stronger than zen3 was
Unironically, anyone ever used WordPad?
It was so clunky I could never get to use it over just plain old notepad
God no.
Wordpad is the app you accidentally open, when you meant to open up notepad. To avoid the markup language stuff.
Unironically VisualStudio is not a bad text document reader
A bit long to launch, but it works well
I still love my windows notepad, notepad++ is cool with extra features, but I just love my barebones notepad
Not even a meme but, how on earth does that happen
Bottom RAM stick, the memory module just fell off
Was the solder or something that bad lel
From my limited knowledge of memory tech, wouldn't that particular stick actually show up as 3GB?
Ddr4, idk did it lay in a shelf in Arizona a for 5 years?
Wow thanks mark
Whoâs totally not a bot
Mr_akbar's not been getting paid enough, had to get a sidegig
I would assume it just causes the PC to crash, because the controller still think it's a full stick, missing chip or not.
Well that's what I would assume
But don't GPUs also have memory controllers?
There's like DIY tutorials to solder on extra memory chips on like 3080s or so
And they do report as higher VRAM
Wordpad was nice for simple print docs.
And you don't need to rewrite the BIOS on them? Interesting.
I think I've seen one where after soldering on extra, they actually reported without any other work as higher VRAM
I don't think I'm wrong, but I could be
Wondering if same would apply to normal RAM and it would just calculate -1GB cause the module fell off lel
doubt it
Guess it depends on how it checks for memory on startup. Maybe the BIOS on the GPU was written to check all available pads just in case.
Not sure if that works the opposite way though.
it probably crash hard
i miss the days when all memory was like that :p
Graphene do be one of those materials I've seen so many articles on for so many years
Like "sub-nanometer potential"
Yet has it even been practically adopted yet
I could be misremembering, but isn't a "semiconductor" like, a transistor?
Which CPUs have like billions nowadays of?
So they made a single one, can they make a billion though and make it like, cheap?
eh science journalism always is like that
things do end up somewhere but it is always touted as crazy great
but i remember learning about oleds a few years before they became a consumer product
So like, in the 90s?
Haven't OLEDs been used as displays for random stuff like idk, digital clockfaces for decades now?
Prolly a different type of OLED though
Define first, and define Sony OLED
Huh
OLED has really been thin ever since it was invented eh?
I was surprised how paper thin my LG CX was when I first unboxed it
Hell, I still am surprised years later lol
Thing could snap at any time it looks like, but is surprisingly sturdy
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 6700 XT, Fractal Design Terra Mini ITX Desktop
Rate the list
Went for upgradability
Prices as provided?
Wouldn't agree with some options like the case or GPU
Case is like, vanity factor, there are 50$ cheaper options that are functionally far superior
Terra looks good, but has was it whine issues? And thermal performance is pretty meh
Itâs clearly a SFF build on purpose
SFF build isn't necessarily to look good mate
I built SFF last year, was quite an experience
Actually enjoyable, whole high end rig managed to fit into my backpack
I am kind of really against the Terra, against Fractal's best judgement, they made a pretty mediocre case
Iâd get different ram, SFF isnât for me so donât know much about options there
I think I remember that if you mount a fan in there, it starts to whine cause ventilation grills make turbulence or something like that
The thermal performance of the thing isn't that good anyways, which really matters in SFF
Either ddr5-6000 or at least better timings, you can get 6000cl30 so 5600cl46 is quite bad
Imo, Lian Li Q58, Hyte Revolt 3, Evolv Shift 2, NR200, Louqe stuff, Ssupd cases, Dancase stuff, Formd T1 are better options that Terra
Terra literally only has one thing going for it, it looks attractive
And is pretty small I suppose
I built on Ssupd Meshlicious and it's a very compact build, pretty straightforward
Heard Formd T1 is even better
Anything but the terra
It needed to be portable, so sff it is
You gave the reasoning for the case choice, what about the gpu like you mentioned
Nothing against SFF, it's a great form factor
I mean, why'd you get a 6700XT over an RTX 4060?
Price to performance
But 4060 is the same price at 300$ usually while being just faster
Actually fair enough 6700XT is faster than 4060 in most cases, more on par to 4060Ti
Wait for later today to see if prices move after the official announcement of the super refresh
Only thing I guess I would change about the GPU is look for a 6750XT
Or if you can spend less on the case and some other parts and upgrade to a 6800XT which is phenomenally good for a ~450$ card
Just don't buy Arc
Any case in mind that is small enough to fit in a bag?
I built on Ssupd Meshlicious with 6800XT and Ryzen 5600
6800XT being a.. 340mm card I think? Fit inside without much issue
Formd T1 should fit that too
There was a wonderful website for checking compatibility
This one https://pangoly.com/en/
Checks for clearances for GPUs and CPU fans and other stuff, seems reliable
Cool
Lists you all of the stuff that it's compatible with, I bought stuff from this website that it said should fit in the meshlicious, and it did
Again though, I am against the Terra

Imo SSUPD Meshroom or Formd T1 + 6800XT for 450$ + faster RAM would net you an incredible build
Not too sure about ASRock ITX board, there aren't any Jiggybyte options? I built with Jiggy's B550I ITX and it was really really nice
There's not many under 200 am5 mini itx mobos
Gigabyte b650i seems to be under 200, comes with wifi option
You ain't kidding
It's cheaper in EU than in 'murica
Jiggy's B650I here is like 170 euros
đ
Yours seems fine though, it's fine
Would prolly switch case, better RAM, better GPU
Check clearances on PSU n cooler and it's a good build
Ye
Upgradability baby
Pretty sure 650W would handle a 4090
Also it was one of the cheaper but also good options
Not sure what 6090 with 700W you would be upgrading to
7600 is pretty power efficient so you'd do with 650W just fine
Oh yeah @final flame
If you get a case like Meshroom S you can get a full sized ATX board
Those usually have less compromises than ITX, more USB slots or whatever
Ax860 platinum couldn't handle my 7900xtx
Lemme guess, 14900K?
9700k believe it or not
That sounds like a bad power supply
First thing that pops up when I search for it lol
Oooo
I mean the ax860 is old
Gimme gimme gimme
Im running a 9700k and a 2080 off of a 850w evga just fine
XD
I was using a 2080 before
Swapped for the 7900xtx ran fine for like 3 months
Then it started not liking it was tripping OCP when playing dead island 2 out of all things
Swapped it out
No problems since
And the psu is still used and works fine in a less power heavy rig
I think it's just degraded after 10 years of usage and it didn't like the transients from the xtx
Sounds like it
Also befor you start wondering what kind of max scientist runs a 9700k with a 7900xtx
It's not a bad time to get new PSUs, they are relatively affordable nowadays for ATX3.0 cert units and Platinum rating
I play at 5120x1440 and am gpu bottlenecked in almost everything except like cyberpunk with max pedestrian density and i'm just patiently waiting for zen5 for a platform upgrade as im not in a hurry.
If i was running at a lower res i'd be in more of a hurry
Why are you combining two 1440p displays
Instead of just getting one 1440p ultrawide
And the day i had the problem was cyber monday and i got an hx1500i for like 250cad on sale (its atx 3.0 cert but just didn't come with the atx 3.0 cables because older revision)
Um
I am running 1440p SUPER ultrawide
32:9
But like why
Ahhh
I thought you like some ultramadman are just combining 2 displays
Side by side into 1
For no reason
It's like 2x27inch 1440p monitors glued together into one giant curved display
isn't 7900xtx the only card that can run that native?
Sure, G9 neo makes sense
I have the 49 inch version, 57 inch version was the one with the DP version issue on nvidia
I really don't see how you're hitting power supply limits tho, we have almost the same setup
Probably a issue like vex said
The 57inch version is 2x4k 32 inch displays
ah so it was the other one
5120x1440 is still considerably less pixels than 4K
12%
So you can run that on 4070 prolly, 4080 easily
Im running 3 displays out of my 2080
I'm talking when gaming
And before you say surround don't bs me I used to run 5760x1080 surround on my 2080 @final flame and i know how the performance is lol
When gaming you really have to lower settings on that nowadays
@cursive summit well i paid 4070 ti price for my 7900xtx brand new on sale this summer
Very happy with it
Not too sure Dashi why you wouldn't upgrade CPU anyways, going from 9600K to something as simple as R5 7600 would give you massive frame improvements for little cost
I never was going to say surround but Aight
as you should, it's a really good gpu
Good job, it's a good card
AMD been discounting their stuff lately, with SUPER launch I imagine they will discount even more
600$ for XTX đł
9700k and I do have a pretty good oc on it and as i said im gpu bound in like 95% of titles except a few exceptions and 2024 is going to be dry in terms of new releases. The games I play regularly I am extremely gpu bound in (forza motorsport, halo infinite)
So yeah i do want an upgrade im just patient
The fact you are GPU bound though doesn't mean much
IPC improvements alone will be massive
You sound like you have money, 7600 build with 32GB of RAM and a mobo would be like 500$ or so lel
I do have money
Not much reason not to
I'd rather wait for what i really want than half ass something
why 7600?
Why not
If i did upgrade i'd go 7800x3d
7600 is the cheapest I can think of that has really good performance
Sure, 7800X3D is what you SHOULD get
But 7600 is bare minimum
My own PC is at the point to where ID rather just get another brand new PC instead of upgrading, since if I were to upgrade ID have to upgrade everything
But what im hoping for is that we see some thing that had more than 8c/16t with 3d vcache on 8ccds or more
maybe, for my stuff i don't need more than 8c
I could have bought a new cpu mobo ram but i spent 1500cad on a samsung neo g9 on sale it seemed like a better use of my money
đ
I have the money for a new cpu/ram/mobo I'm just being patient for zen5 rn
Ngl I don't really get the complainers that VCache is only on half the CCDs
Cause in practice it seems to have virtually no negatives anyways
Like, I get the anger and complaint
But in practice AMD is still the leader even with half the vcache
Not saying I'm gonna buy intel
Ah no I'm just venting about the complaints
The way i see it its more like
Zen4's been out a bit, what i have works and im gpu bound in like 95% of scenarios and no new games are releasing any time soon
And on the games I play regularly... the benefit isn't there
Im only excited about stsr wars outlaw this year
That's it
And we don't even know if its even releasing this year
So i'll just wait till spring/early summer
If i saw a benefit in games i play rn i'd upgrade but i don't
You get my point
Like in forza the multiplayer is capped at 60fps because of xbox cry babies in cross play so i play with rt on and ultra settings capped at 60. How would i benefit from a 7800x3d.
And in halo infinite im gpu bound at 120ish fps on ultra
My 2 main games
