no
i mean there is some very technical differences but if you just wanna use the product as is then no
i dont think just because its patented they will use the patent
Quinten Tarintino is going to receive a review unit

A patent doesn't mean it will be used, but there are definitely costs involved getting that far, so it does indicate at least some serious effort in that regard.
Even if it ultimately ends up going nowhere.
Could be something for Accessibility similar to what Microsoft does with their accessibility controller thing
Patent explicitily mentions vr / ar so at that point it was not for accesibility.
That being said foot controllers would be a very good accessibility thing, people losing a hand happens often enough.
my router comes with some random ass examples for port forwarding
lol
Straight from the early 00s or late 90s
Those are so dated and amazing.
Back in the days the average user needed to port-forward.
Now I still do but because of my own specific needs.
Can i use this to lube the wires of the stabilizers? https://amzn.eu/d/1Ob647w
Permatex Dielectric Tune-Up Grease protects electrical connections and wiring from salt, dirt and corrosion. Required for modern high energy ignition systems, dialectric grease extends the life of bulb sockets and prevents voltage leaks around any electrical connection. Also prevents spark plugs ...
So close
@digital cliff
teehee, you're gonna be fine either way
The issue turned out to NOT be a bad implementation of the DirectX9.0c specification by AMD (as I had suspected for well over 10 years) but rather a LENIENT implementation on nVidia's part
always fun when a lot of things turn out to not be broken on amd but rather nvidia not folowing spec
To be fair, which one you think is more common
hardware spec wise certainly not that amd is using broken/non spec conforming things
especially opengl had a lot of things that weren't great on amd because nvidia had workarounds that devs got used to
but no I can't find something for that atm
Go to http://www.Thorum.com and get 20% off by using the code LTT at checkout!
It wasnβt easy, but we snuck the biggest TV in the world out of China. IS it a Samsung? Wrong. Is it a Sony? Of course not. Is it an LG? In partβ¦ maybe? The 115 Inch TCL X11G Max QD is a Quantum Dot Mini-LED MONSTER and just getting it into Linus' house was quite the...
Linus got it lol
Oh wait that was Samsung
yoooo hello everyone so I just got my wooting 60he and I decided to mod it and it was the very first time that I have done done this and overall it is amazing and turned out great but I ran into a couple of problems and I was wondering if anyone could help me with them
thx g
Have a . and a , as well
hello, someone has a list about a wooting vs apex pro?
Some people need to learn how to use https://www.google.com
I saw a youtube review measuring the difference via high speed cams, where the apex pro turned out to be a few miliseconds slower
I don't know about the mini tho
both are good options
if you want the least input latency possible, go with the wooting
if you dont need that, its preference
Stole one of the wallpapers from Nothing Phone 2
I love it ππ
Light and dark theme
Hey, when I play video games, my crouch is the Crtl button I was playing the game today and trying to crouch, but it was not working. Some reason when I hit the FN button and the Crtl button at the same time it crouches but when I hit the Crtl button by itβs itself it does not work anyone know how to fix this or what the problem is I try to take the switch out. It does not work. Still does the same thing
Sorry
anyone know if the xg25aqm is a good competitive monitor
Is there any difference between using the usb 3.1 and 3.2 usb ports?
While most are drawing a small fraction of that. Crazy. That's like a deep fryer, which use like 1500w
A space heater typically draws that much
Poor us power circuits, 1300w is a lot for those :p
lol
I think it's a lot for any power circuits - TV wise
A typical OLED would use less than 100
lol
Mhmm. Any other house and they would be struggling to keep it running
So if running a TV for 2 hours a day for a year is supposed to be like 47$ = according to energy star
I can't even imagine the electric bill
Meh. I have a coffee maker, water kettle (a strong one 2000w) on the same Socket.
This thing may be a deal at 13,000$, but the electric bill? Whoo boy
Probably like 100$/mo just by itself
Ok actually so at 2 hours per day, it'd only be 15$/mo in my state.
But still, expensive compared to an oled which is like 13$ a year at 2 hours per day
I wonder how much difference in heat though compared to ips
i almost bought that samsung g9 49 inch oled monitor i dont even wanna think about how much that would've costed for my power bill LMAO
I mean if you're a good oled owner you'll be turning it off whenever not in use anyways
do they produce more heat though, that's the question
well that's a crt though lol
a better comparison would be ips or miniled
I'm so glad crts are gone. Big, heavy, power hungry, squeaky noise, flickering image
they have their uses
playing older games feels so much better on them for example
anime is also quite nice to watch on them
Just get a good upscaler
crts have a kind of natural bloom you don't get on any other display
I wish modern crts were created, would be nice to have something that is higher res
crts are kinda like the tube amps of audio
compared to solid state amps which are modern displays
Eh Tube Amps are actually surpassed unlike CRT
Lol those are stupidly expensive though
"just"
Getting a GOOD CRT with modern inputs is not necessarily cheap either.
Should be like 50-100$ tops

Sad
Starcraft Remastered and Diablo 2 Resurrected are incredible
WC3 got fucked for sure
It's always fun to be confirmed in your suspicions that brands share marketing stats.
Cause there ain't no way that TCL ads suddenly appear organically after I watch Linus 115" TV video, literally the only time I've ever heard of TCL.
what were the technical differences?
like the 60percent layout being sudo standard so replacing the case is no issue while fullsize third party cases are not a thing
that kind of differences
anyone know good wooting settings for valorant?
just lowest rapid trigger setting, rapid trigger off on left shift and whatever low-ish actuation you prefer for wasd is the typical settings
alr thanks
with lowest rapid trigger setting you mean low as in the setting put to high or low?
as in 0.15 rt typically
alr and should the actuation point be low on everything except shift and windows
well outside of wasd keys it's up to you mostly. I do 0.3 wasd and 0.5 to 1 on all my other keys (except windows is 4 lol), but how low you want to go on wasd in particular is up to you
ok
and left shift you turn off rapid trigger mostly cause it accidentally triggers when you shift walk sometimes, so better to have it off there
ok thanks
does it automatically activate my current profile even when i close the app or do i need to have it running?
do i gotta remap all my f-keys since i dont have any of them anymore
it will keep current profile, just make sure you have that profile you want as the highest profile in the list so that it's what loads each time your keyboard powers up
`how do i put it to the top
just drag it iirc
thanks
what is that

So what do you guys think about RDMA?
server stuff that I wont ever interact with and potentially begging for security issues
It could end up in consumer stuff. There's already PCI-e over USB with Thunderbolt, so it's not exactly far off.
pcie over usb is just making more external IO possible, idk what you would even use rdma in consumer for
Faster and lower latency data transactions.
Might not be useful for stuff like transferring large files, but it could definitely allow for some neat things.
yes we definitely need even faster file transfers for our ambiguous 2TB mp4 files
consumer isnt going to have massive rack setups that need infiniband to transfer data or anything like that, not even thinking about the cost to add the nics and all for that
Lower latency access to stuff could be useful for video editing directly off of your phone. This stuff could also be nice for people that need more threads, add a PCI-e card with a CPU on it for an additional NUMA node.
more threads is easily solved by just having more cores in basic cpus over the next generations instead of expensive solutions like that
Heck you could just dock your phone into something like that and pool the resources.
Yeah but that requires replacing hardware.
which is a lot cheaper than getting hardware that would support this properly
also removes any issues coming from the cpu not being directly next to the cpu slots which is not making latency and speed better
The price should be comparable, if not cheaper because it wouldn't need as much PCB and far fewer peripherals.
we are getting CXL in servers and at some point maybe in consumer which would be able to do all that
but I just dont see it doing anything for consumer in this decade
No not soon, but it could still be a lot of fun.
maybe? I just really doubt by the time we get it in consumer you'd use it for that when it's so much simpler to just get the 64core consumer cpu option
yo real quick how do i get my wooting 60he to update mode?
cause i try to update the keyboard and it fials every time
I don't know either.
O.o what do you not know
What that screenshot is from.
Warcraft 3
Well that's why.

I don't play MMOs.
warcraft 3 isnt MMO, its RTS
World of Warcraft = MMO
I've only played a couple of those.
I just figured it was the third version of that. .-.
nah. warcraft 3 came out first then there was WoW
Warcraft was a RTS, like red alert
I haven't played any of those. :V

The RTS I've played the most was Rock Raiders.
Real Time Strategy = Build soilders or Heroes to attack or defend base and mine money
Do you not know what Rock Raiders is?
ok wait

Doesn't the fan remake help there?
im not a fan of lego games so idk
This one you need to run as admin for it to work in the first place.
@vivid vine Are you familiar w/ polling rates with mice?
Not to much, havent really even bothered upgrading from the GPX
this gif again π
awh rip
Got the newer finalmouse w/ 4k. Super laggy though :.
Seems to be a recurring theme with people buying 4k an 8k mice
Wondering if thats why GPX 2 is just 2k
Yeah, did a bit of research on it ^-^. A lot of people are saying "hardware issue" "polling stresses the cpu out".
But I doubt its a hardware issue atm. Seems to happen with people on decked out setups too.
Kind of sucks lol :/
4000 feels pretty nice on 360
bad drivers, overloaded usb hubs, not updating windows to have fixes for high polling devices, running the cpu at max because the game is run at low resolution/details etc.
haha I have about all of those squared away. I use a PCIE Usb for my mouse specifically lol.
But what do you mean for the last detail there?
I play my games at 1720x1080
if you run it completely cpu bound and your cpu is running at high usage and then you put high polling on it that can stutter
^
I see, I see.
also the pcie usb hub might have issues itself
would always want that on a hub thats directly connected to the cpu imo
I don't know how accurate task mngr CPU usage is, but typically in games. Load is always under 50%.
the % doesnt say anything, depends on how the game polls it and how much the thread for it is used
if you have 2 cores at 100% load on a 4 core cpu it shows 50% too but it's going to bottleneck hard
haha, thats just because usb-c is expensive for manufactures.
They aren't too bad otherwise
usbc is expensive because it makes it cost a dollar or two instead of a few cents for a port, that's not causing most of that price
that adds up to cost in millions of units, not for one single port
hey folks im trying to make a ticket in the suuport area but it doesnt want to seem to post
support*
having an issue with my wooting making a digital noise with each keystroke
and wasnt letting me type at all earlier
had to use on screen keyboard and reset it
Nah that's just low volume, just gotta go to the source
Tb cards cost less than that, and they are using far more expensive chips
Click the blue button at the top?
yeah i did that, just didnt want to seem to post, it greyed out the blue button after typing my ticket and just gave me the posting rules
then you were missing something, title, tag or something else
im not sure what im missing
imagine i would build myself a keyboard, would i need anything else besides;
case
wooting module
lube stuff (lubricant and other utilites)
switches
keycaps?
no
it looks like i would need to get keycaps a case and switches like its listed above
what would i need ino
what? no, you do not need anything else
misunderstanding my bad
thx though
i thought you meant it like "no thats not everything"
^^
Just took apart my Logitech Superlight to clean out the scroll wheel. And holy mother of anti-consumer repair is it a fucking terrible design.
Six screws under the mouse to get it open. Six. Where are they? Under the teflon esque tape that is damaged when you try and peel it off of course. OF COURSE.
Could they have left holes for the screws with zero performance loss? Yes.
Another 12? screws later and I get to the battery. Which is taped onto another two fucking screws. Does it need to be? FUCK NO. There's ample room inside, and I could literally tape it back on between screws.
I don't ever want to hear anyone complain about the 2HE disassembly. π
the vault door of mice
I am -so- ordering new parts from Ali after NYE
what profile should i get for L60's?
I think they all fit
thinking is good, knowing is better

Wouldn't think that the profile would matter rather that the keycap has to fit the MX stem
so if it fits MX its good?
or should be
Well some might have difference in keycap size too
thx
The spacebar is e.g. 6.25u, angles on keycaps etc. etc.
screws under skates is sadly the standard
I am genuinely dumbfounded. It took me seconds to hollow out the skates for the screws.
Logitech: please cleen scroll wheel that we designed like cave men
Also Logitech: But don't take it apart, which you'll need to do to actually do what we're asking
most mice are ass when it comes to user servicability
that you can't even access the casing screws for disassembly without destroying and replacing the skidpads on most modern gaming mice is just spiteful towards the customer
Yeah...
Putting the battery ON screws also not very cool.
And the ribbon cable didn't have a "tap" you could hold onto either. Which is again just spite.
yeah getting that cursed ribbon connector back in place is the worst part for me
my fat sausage fingers and so-so precision skills makes anything electronic made after the 1980s a pain to deal with

thankfully there's tools to get around most shortcomings like that, though the actual smt parts used in modern tech are so miniscule I don't even bother attempting any board/circuit repairs
people who does smartphone and laptop board repair must be the most patient in the world
is there ever going to be a wooting that is small but still keeps the f keys?
I think similar to the apex Pro tkl
yo anyone know where I can find a coiled keyboard wire that goes to a micro usb, not a C? Iβm trying to replace my wire so I can sell my kb and get a wooting π
do we know if the tkl will or will not be "better" then the wooting 60he or will it be around the same just diffrent design
No one knows
same tech new design
are there any more differences? which one would be better for gaming and what would I be losing out on by buying the 60% instead of the 2 HE?

between the shure 840a's, m40x's, 569s and any other closed backs in that price range (excluding the k371 due to build quality and qc issues), what would you guys recommend?
whichever one you like
that answers 1 of the 3 questions ig
which would be better for gaming is the one youklike the most
and how am i supposed to know which one that is
by looking at them I suppose
._.
they are just physically different
the other stuff you were told already by tony I think
^
i was not the guy who asked abt headphones
brother amigo pal friend homeslice breadslice dawg
im askin abt the keyboard
LMAO
and why so
?????????
lord almigthy
wth is that
why is the 60% gamers choice
no reason other than it's small and was promoted by "influencer" gamers enough at some point
Self explanatory I hope π
no
huh
so ig nah
so if i am to understand
100% is not good
cause it is unmoddable
i cant
its
a force
of habit'
π€¨
:(
yeah nah the real reason for it
is cause im playin val rn
so i type a ;ine and look back
if you want to mod then yes get 60HE
today
i was changing my brightness
i also have an overlock key
that i use sometimes when my wifi aint it
?
fn layer?
fn+1 = F1 and so on
im using a latop rn
but it has all the function keys
ye it does
i do want to mod it cause no offense the base wooting keeb sounds kinda bad
so ill buy the 60% and mod it later
one very quick question about the software
if i buy an external numpad
can the software still pick it up as part of the keyboard so i can use it for macros?
wootility doesn't do macros, but wootomation, sure
whatever one can do the stuff
wootility is the software to configure the keeb
wootomation is just a wooting-branded macro app
soooooo
you could just as well use autohotkey or any other I suppose though
idk what that is
is that a yes on the external numpad able to use macros?
cause i use my numpad on my left cause im lefthanded
yes you can make macros
either with wootomation or any other 3rd party hardware-agnostic macro app such as autohotkey
niceeeeeeeeeeeeeee
how complex can i tune the macros on wootomation?
like to the ms with razer?
or no?
Antibiotic-resistant bacteria have become a rapidly growing threat to public health. Each year, they account for more than 2.8 million infections, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Without new antibiotics, even common injuries and infections harbor the potential to become lethal.
what if
we had microplastics
but they just killed you
what could go wrong
Yeah they just have awful marketing
They say no publicity is bad publicity, but come on
What voltage is the Wooting cable?
depends on the usb source you attach it to. the usb standard is 5v
the main issue is an unstable voltage with many coiled cables as the wooting drains a tiny bit more amps than the usb spec provides
also please stay in 1 channel with a question
Will do, thanks! What would the most appropriate channel for such a question?
this is a good channel its mainly to not split up answers across multiple channels
Strap in for breakneck gaming speeds with the WD_BLACK SN850X NVMeβ’ SSD. Crush load times and slash throttling, lagging, and texture pop-ins for a smooth, fast experience that lets you compete at your absolute peak. This purpose-built gaming drive comes in capacities of 1TB to 4TB(2), with an opt...
Man, why .com
4TBs of PCIe4 SSD for 230$
Ah it took a while for 4tb to come down, I would have gotten it when I upgraded storage but back then the price per gb gap between 2 and 4 tb was still rather large.
damn they've gotten a lot cheaper in the last year alone I feel
Yup
2TB ones went for around 200β¬, second hand, back when I checked
like for the premium shit as in the case of SN850x
Oh I snagged up a secondary 2tb drive for less than β¬ 80 a few month back, granted a cheaper one but it's not my main drive and my 500gb one could definitely use a replacement at that point.
a secondary 2tb drive I bought new for I think 115 already back then, just depends on what performance you go for
the cheap stuff is a lot cheaper than the premium stuff
I bought my 1tb for Β£99 not long ago and it was an insane bargain.
And 1tb Samsung drives were like Β£30
For a week last year
Id love a 4tb mvme but I'm being patient as I don't need it yet.
I don't need more storage for a while either.
1tb don't go far nowadays
Its interesting that people need protective case for handheld thats supposed to he used with 2 hands
I need for skyrim modpacks
1tb main drive is enough for me, secondary drive just stores files so that I'll need to upgrade when I'm nearing the 2tb
4tb in nas for used files/download/media.a
1TB for os on my desktop and 1tb for games
I'd like a nas just to have one but too expensive so I won't get one lol
Nah, I have TS-233 now, it wasn't that expensive of a NAS
with the what?
I guess but the ease of storing off the computer and a lot of automation is nice.
always build one out of an old pc
I don't have old pcs with drives that are worthwhile
and nas alone is too expensive
For me my server / nas basically uses my old cpu, currently running a 8700k which is overkill.
that's 239β¬ whereas I'd need it to kinda be just 0β¬
Drives of course I buy dedicated.
you always buy nas drives
tbf for β¬239 you could build a PC for TrueNAS out of older parts...
prob better than any nas
Considering that's an all time low in $ for that part?
I doubt so, but I'll look into it
Yeah.. with the import tax sure, without not quite yet
the main issue with prebuilt nas is they cost out the butt, never include disks inless you buy a bundle and they have 2 or 4gb ram only with a trash soc
old hp/dell office pc for 50bucks from ebay prob has more cpu power and ram
My Thinkcentre Tiny has 4 cores and 16GB of RAM and it was β¬40 so yeah
But overall I'm very satisfied with QNAP
I'll never buy any stuff from them again
But also alot higher idle power draw, and over 5 years 24/7 it adds up
Literally been like 250 last month in β¬ even in your chart and yes obviously taxes are included in comparison
sure but imo id rather draw more and get better perf
It does really depend on the use
My raspberry pi usb 2 attached hdd is faster than my internet, (my phone backs up over the internet mostly) and my camera's wifi upload combined
If you are purely using it for backup, you really don't need much power
And I'd prefer to save $100 or 2 over 5 years + another few hundred up front
well last nas i built had 20disks in it at some point
Right now my nas has raid 1 in btrfs, I probably could do better with 2 more drives but meh, I have an off-site backup of the important stuff anyway
what would you people recommend L45 or 60s? I still don't have a good overview
Personal preference
Check out #archived_the_lekker_switch backlog
Basically L60 is more or less MX Red, you can compare force chart V sent you vs other switches you can get on rtings for example
Can I use the Lekker Switch on the older Wooting Two Keyboard?
So how do I get new switches for the Wooting two keyboard?
If it's one one or two, you can email us and ask.
Anything more and it's time to find a new keyboard
I am getting a lot of double taps now. Is there a way to fix that within the software? Example - EExxaammppllee
Sorry, not a guru on the keyboard.
which settings are you getting the issues on?
or just always?
namely actuation and RT settings
usually you can adjust actuation and RT settings to be more relaxed if you have issues, also can't hurt to dust it off on account of the older flaretech switches being optical and the sensors being susceptible to dust and stuff
canned air on the pcb with the offending switches pulled out should probably do the trick
I fully cleaned up the keyboard this last weekend.
Yo can yβall tell me where I can check my shipping info?
so should be good, or maybe you inadvertedly introduced some fluff in there somehow? either way, could just check the offending switches, maybe swap some of them around, blow some air on the pcb
and if that fails, just adjusting the actuation and RT settings a little to see if you can't find a sweet spot
Ok, thanks Fleimi!
hub.wooting.io before it ships and the email you get with the tracking link after it does
Ok
On our website.
Access and edit your orders, connect your discord, and manage your Wooting account.
@reef patrol , I shot an email to social@wooting.io requesting 3 switches.
Aight. Can't promise anyone answers for another week or so though.
Holidays and all that
No worries. I have it right now where it's the switches on keys I don't press often.
Thanks!
I'm certain that I'm the first person who has used a drywall anchor on a monitor arm to hold the monitor down rather than up lol
The monitor keeps angling back up when I don't want it to for some reason, and that's not gonna happen any more lel
Isn't it just a matter of tighting a screw, like this one?
Either way my monitor arm is cursed in a different way.
It's arms are elongated as the tripple monitor arm really doesn't fit 3x 27inch even if it says it does.
Had to drill out a screw even as it really did not want to come lose
Same because I use portrait
zoom in on it, the washer is bent because of how tight i had it, and it was still rotating
Ah, it's hard to judge from the picture, doesn't seem like the best construction, but hey if your solution works it works
yea
its an awful diy solution
using an angled wall mount that was designed to be as cheap as possible
Not a fan of wall mounts myself, used them in the past, problem is if you want to change anything on your setup you end up with extra holes.
no like
i have a normal monitor arm
then on the end i stuck this pos https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0069LPT0A/?th=1
This high-quality tilting wall mount is intended for use with Brick/Concrete/Block walls only. It features a low profile design which puts the back of the TV only about 1. 65" from the wall. The display can be tilted down-Inch -15 degrees allowing the display-Inch be set-Inch the perfect viewing ...
Ah
I seem to have a memory of a fly as I could cleary see it not being wall mounted on the picture you send
because my monitor arm tilts 15 degrees up and 5 degrees down, and i wanted it to tilt as far down as possible
Wouldn't it make more sense to turn it 180 degrees? of course it's wait will rest on the screwe but that should be fine?
the mount is symmetrical
tilting down has the screw in that position
when you tilt up, the screw goes up
its a pretty strange design
Just checked my single monitor one, there the tilt is similar move forward tilt down move backward tilt up.
Biggest difference it seems is that it uses tooth lock washers and a small screw on both sides to lock itself
Maybe going that route would be possible, replacing what's in there with something that grips stronger
it has a second screw on the other side, however it too is also not locking
I was just looking down the aisle at home depot and this was the first set of things that seemed like it would work, I might have tried locking washers if i saw them but too late now
neat
yea i dont think that would hold my monitor, i have a 32 inch super curved dood that is also extremely deep
The scratches were from when it tried to hold my old 24inch tv which is probably at least as heavy The screws held fine, just the monitor arm itself was flexing under the weight.
oh geez
i mean more that it would work itself loose over time if i moved it up and down
I swing my monitor arm around and tilt it down for use in bed
then i swing it back over my desk to work
Ah yea then you don't want something like that.
A leaker has provided further details about the Vivo X100 Pro+ or Vivo X100 Ultra camera flagship, which is expected to be launched in 2024. Based on a prototype, the triple cam equipped with 4.3x optical zoom appears to be quite versatile and can apparently reach ridiculous sounding digital zoom-levels.
Finally!
an actual reason to use the high megapixel sensors
change sensitivity then
dont think of it as anti collision, think of it as minimizing damage from a collision
A worthy sequel lel
So my dad gave me his oldish drone
Damn the skydios put dji to shame for everything but video
The tracking is scary compared to dji
hey, I'm planning to create a custom board using Lekker switches, would anyone happen to have any advice on the best hall effect sensors to use? Ideally, I want to use the same sensors as Wooting if thats possible, but any recommendations at all would be appreciated.
Friend is looking for a 16β laptop for uni stuff / solid works for arround 1500$
Any recommendations?
If the aint gamin, something from apple
i have my mac pro m2 max 32 ram, so good for work
I wouldnβt try running solidworks on a mac tbh
Wonβt run solidworks
Oh, my bad, didn't see that part, somehow
For CAD/Solidworks usually you'd want something with chonky CPU and quite a lot of RAM
Yeah my friends in mech eng have gaming laptops runs well for their tasks
Ah yes I am sure this is not chatgpt written
Something with 8-core Ryzen and 16/32GB of RAM would do I guess
And I dunno if they (SolidWorks) fixed their issues with RTX 40-series
if its not for right now wait for CES on jan7 or so if they announce something new and good
They need it asap I am afraid
This looks good to me for the price I think
dΓ‘ sa
Indeed sadly they donβt like the design rip

this indeed sounds like me

probably my ublock filters
There's quite a lot of laptops with 5900HX and 32GB of RAM under β¬1500
https://allegro.pl/oferta/hp-omen-16-qhd-ips-165hz-ryzen-9-5900hx-32gb-ddr4-1tb-ssd-rtx-3070-8gb-w11-13595342867
just buy a crusty thinkpad and it's gonna get you places
Doesnβt have to - they donβt live here just I do so itβs easier for me to look lmao
Ah, ok then
At first glance most of people here sell to who whole EU anyways
I am thinking if the newest gen 7840hs or such woudlnt be better for solidworks than 5900hx tbh
But painful part is them wanting a sleek design
Not a lot of laptops with 7840 here unfortunately
There's mostly either HP Victus 16 https://allegro.pl/oferta/hp-victus-16-s0452nw-144hz-r7-7840hs-16gb-512ssd-rtx4060-w11-8cpu-300-nitow-14849850893
Or Lenovo Legion 5 https://allegro.pl/oferta/lenovo-legion-slim-5-16aph8-ryzen-7-7840hs-16-wqxga-ips-300nits-ag-16gb-14617032903
Don't you want a quadro for solid works?
Quadro doesnβt exist anymore
how do i get "@" on my keyboard? cant find it in the extended characters
It depends on your keyboard layout, shift+2 or altgr+2 is common
Oh, AltGr+2 does Β² in my case, quite useful!
The purpose of this article is to help you with the factory reset, restore and recover process to solve any issues with settings, actuation or connection issues
I just restored my ketboard, but i still cant press shift 2 to get @
i fixed it, thanks for the help @@@@@@@@@@@
Danish layout uses AltGr+2 for @, interesting
czech programmers is a decent layout on windows, but nothing beats cz-qwertz on unix
am I blind or is that just the default qwert layout
yeah but you are still able to type special symbols with right alt
AltGr+4 = Δ? Why not AltGr+c?
ohh that part
just looked at base layout and was confused how it was different haha
they are on the top row in normal cz qwertz
i wish i could just write professional emails without those symbols, but then you look like an uneducated twat
so much extra hassle
Yeah, gotta use those diacritics
that seems like the perfect task for AI "stupidify this text for pretentious executives"
meanwhile chad russians just don't use Ρ
i think even simple autocorrect has those diacritics figured out
i'm pretty sure it was the inconvenience to type it on a keyboard that led to the letter officially being optional
actually i was looking for different keyboard layouts comparison for different languages and czech landed at the top for qwerty i believe
but i was not able to find those comparisons, it's just something that i remember from years ago
what about it?
skypad? yeah those new designs are not for me.
Prob doesn't know that is a workstation not a GeForce
those EEC filings arent anything coming likely, probably just OEM/embedded/china models
There's no real space for an RX 7800 anyways
Plus I think they mentioned RDNA3 product stack is complete
binning rejects, specific TDPs for embedded etc. or not even coming at all
plenty of names in EEC filings that never come around and are just to have it just in case bc it's cheaper to not refile one for everything
DFR
4k ultrawide finally
means we get enough beta testers before we get gpus that can acutally deliver that
240hz OLED has to be crispy
I've been doing that for ages
5x1 portrait array lol
Wow the drone actually transfers fast over wifi, what magic is this
It's maxing out my phones sd card
yeehaw new tech that I can buy in 10 years when it's reasonably priced
notes down plans for 2033
nah by then we hopefully have something that replaces current oled production
ehh doesn't have to be
no but it will, tech lately has just gone up +100-200β¬ every generation
and that's like, not even inflation alone obviously
not really no
qd oled has been cheaper than almost anyone expected for first generation
like yeah its not cheap
but for first gen people were expecting like 2x or something
and its still big time profit, they could go cheaper if there was any competition
until we need gpu wafers in monitors they wont follow the gpu pricing trend
you say that but there are processors in monitors
and modern ones are getting lorge
I meant for the screen itself π I dont see prcessing asics needing bleeding edge nodes
they arent using bleeding edge nodes
but even leading edge nodes (1 gen prior to bleeding) which is what they use are getting insanely expensive
mediatek's are on n7 afaik
but yea the massive reductions coming in layer counts are going to make for some very nice savings by the manufacturers
probably wont pass it on, but we will be getting nicer monitors than ever before for similar prices
also dont think just moving on to qned or whatever it will be will require a better processor, so if not chasing higher frames/pixelcounts that still isn't causing increased prices
gotta keep in mind that we are getting better monitors on all fronts, not just contrast, but also resolution and refresh basically every time
can we just skip 2024 after zen5 launched, I'll get that then wait sleep till end of 25
ikr
id set my cryosleep pod to wake me up when deckard releases, but who knows if thats even happening
maybe they are ready and want to not launch during meta but during apples event this time
yea
absolutely 0 indication but I need some copium
ive got so much copium that im considering a vision pro
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa samesies
can get a vision outside us so xD
I don't want to get a PS5, PSVR2, more copies of games and play tethered
thats quitter talk
but also get rekt we get all the fun stuff first
the only PCVR option for not tethered is the vive cosmos elite rn iirc
yea i want a vr headset because i dont want to buy a 300 inch tv and ceiling mount it
which is so prohibitable expensive, especially for hardware far from new
for the money, I could buy a fresh index and several new games
also nah
Q3 is pretty great
the quest 3 is really good deal for its price
its just not got the oled blacks for watching movies
havent been able to try tracking on Beatsaber yet because its on the other pc
...um
yeah I am not bringing meta products into my home
ever
π€· better meta than ccp imo
would rather valve's hardware anyway
knowing them, they'd build steamVR especially around their hardware specifically
sure but id prefer meta to htc, apple to meta, and only then valve rather than apple
oh right one thing I much prefer on the quest over the index is the lensflare not being annoying
deckard is supposed to be inside out
and you only need 1 lighthouse to be high up, the other one(s) can be lower
what would be cool is using inside out and using the same cameras to do lighthouse tracking
and ofc also having the lighthouse photodiodes
I need it to not use lighthouses because I cba having to plug them in every time I want to play vr lol
but what would be really cool is a system where you can have lighthouses, but you can also just turn them off if you dont need the mm precision
i really dont want to have to buy another set of controllers is my concern
and handtracking just aint it chief
yeah handtracking needs more time
for use as a monitor or tv tho? its def enough which is why im even slightly considering vision pro
IT WORKS
I'll be changing this though.
lol ive been using a setup like that for well over a year
π€
i have a 3.0x8 to 4 3.0x8 pcie switch, and i have 4 of those expansion cards hanging off
Huh, sounds expensive.
I'm sure there's a better way of doing networking.
This was just a test, I don't have the USB card for this yet.
Just mount your lh
yea i had it so that i could do networking + 3 pcie ssds
Do it once and be done
I have vive in one room, and index in the other. But the both work with everything
mounting implies you are allowed to mount them
They are on 2 3m command strips
I didn't want to perm mount them when I put them up
So I command stripped for testing
Those don't work long term for the Vive base stations.
And never did another
Yep they do
probably depends on wall material
I even used alcohol to clean the surfaces and leaned on them for a few minutes each.
Mine is textured concrete and works
It just doesn't work.
That has latex paint on it
but theres no chance it would stick to my walls, especially with the vibration
What size did you use?
Normal and a couple of them.
I used 2 large ones
You're better off just using stands or bookshelves if you can't make holes.
On some china corner speaker mounts
did you maybe take off the stand and mount it directly @vagrant pagoda
Using the 1/4 20 mount on the lighthouse
Direct has bad fov, room is too small
They are all they way at the roof at like 45* down
using the bottom 1/4 20 or the back one
The wireless kit is super nice though.
Bottom
I really doubt that command will hold up my lighthouses when it can barely even hold up regular printer paper
The bracket had scres for both walls
I just stuck a command strip on each side
Oil based paint?
π€· no idea, the paint has been around longer than i have
Prob oil based
probably
Yummy lead?
better to let the lead leech into my skin on the rare occasions that i touch the wall than take the paint off and breathe it all in in one go
Yeah if it isn't peeling, don't fuck with it
Got to love 3D printing.
Lead paint is actually super stable
So it isn't bad to have if it isn't peeling
It's the peeling and your kids eat it
That's when it's bad
Oil based you would just strip it
Or if you want to do any home improvement stuff.
Oil paint doesn't really make dust
It stays soft, which is why it peels so easily
Apparently asbestos is still in use in some places in the US.
asbestos is insane
Concrete is just as bad as asbestos.
uh no
Concrete dust is just as bad as asbestos dust
The fake quarts stuff is pretty bad when people don't use PPE.
in the short term yes
but the body can either break down or break apart most of the parts of concrete, asbestos has awful long term effects
Ni
and concrete dust takes the form of particulates, however asbestos dusts take the form of strands
Concrete causes silicosis
Apparently some of the fun stuff about the quartz dust is it gets a lot worse when your body attempts to remove it.
I wonder how much silicosis would be prevented by people being safe with stuff.
yea but while its bad if its microcrystals, its even worse if its inorganic polymer style strands
Silicosis is really bad.
its similar forms of similar molecules
Potentially worse from what I've heard.
but asbestos has 1 major difference from other silicates
asbestos makes longer and thinner chains that are equally strong
People know it's really bad for you?
Workers going "YOLO" and not protecting themselves is a huge issue.
π€· they are scared of the word, but noone knows what it looks like unless they are professionals really
Yeah asbestos is silica bonded with magnesium isn't it?
It's funny little natural fibers?
unless the 60 year old labels advertising the asbestos content have stayed on and remained redable, the average worker wont be able to tell
Generally you can tell it has asbestos if you break it and it's shiny/sparkly
its a molecule that includes silica and magnesium, but more importantly forms polymer like chains rather than crystals
Granted it isnt perfect
At least in houses you have a cutoff of when you need to think about it.
it looks relatively similar to fiberglass without inspecting it
Same with popcorn ceilings
Those are ugly.
and if you can see the shiny, you are in danger
Asbestos is a lot more sparkly/shiny than fiberglass
Not that you should be breathing in fiberglass either.
I always makes up for popcorn ceilings
Or probably handling it directly either.
But if I scrape and it sparkles, it only gets a water removal
I was in one place
That sat for 30 years
Asbestos is pretty recognizable I think.
yea all of the stuff that is really sharp is generally inadvisable to breathe
As long as it sits in place it's no problem, the removal / breaking it is the health risk.
I was like fuck thst
Anything that isn't just clean air isn't advisable to breathe. :^)
yea but stuff that is molecularly sharp is particularly bad
I use forced air with a n100 on anything that isn't untreated wood dust
Fuck all that other shit
Same with vacs
Always use bags in the shop vac and blue filters
I'm currently in a new building so I'll learn about all the awful stuff I've been exposed to in 50 years.
yaaay
I have a pine cluster
That's a different scale but still pretty cool.
Just got my Wooting, should I plug it into my red us port??
To... any USB port really...
Ok I heard there were issues with the apex pro mini in the red USB port
Red USB port? That'd be USB 3.2, never heard they could cause any issues
If you have issues try a different port.
Does having 0.1 actuation, rapid trigger and taychon mode reduce the life span of the keyboard? Iβm asking these questions because I just had the apex pro mini and it lasted a week before the software gave out.
nope all good to use
uhh some years
Damn years
did LE boards not ship the previous year, or at least early that year
LE is identical apart from some minor quirks and cosmetic stuff
p much yea
but also it was a limited edition pre order only
yeah I think i finally own the lekker for longer than I waited for it
i ordered my HE when people started receiving lekkers
i joined the server when i got an email update with shipping progress
6 months after ordering -_-
same although i recently aquired a second one
No, not necessarily
Pretty sure that's what white asbestos is no?
its just a term that consist bunch of different mineral types
this scarily reminds me of something I probably inhaled as a kid
Hope it's just a devaju
i got a wooting on christmas and its amazing
First print despite the leveling mechanism falling off lol
Somehow did an ok job
Can see where the nozel got closer
Xd xd xd xd xd
while yes there are different types of asbestos
They are all silicates bonded to magnesium that form strands that are molecularly sharp and are microns long
95% of all asbestos are chrysotile
lel
as long as its not organic im here for it
π
Unless you live in Australia, where the most commonly found Asbestos was the blue Crocidolite, 100 times more dangerous then chrysotile
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australian_Blue_Asbestos
Australian Blue Asbestos Pty. Ltd. (ABA) was a company founded by Lang Hancock, operated between the years (1938β1966) responsible for the mining, bagging and distribution of blue asbestos or crocidolite, in Wittenoom, in northern Western Australia. The operation, purchased in 1943 by CSR Limited, was operated as a subsidiary until its closure i...
oh yikes
Already posted
I'm sad we don't get brightness for the RGB 4k
no
They are definitely not all bonded to magnesium, some are iron bonded.
i wouldn't call it bonded in a salt anyway
and without looking at the lattice that distinction can't be made
MSI preparing twelve GeForce RTX 40 SUPER cards The RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and RTX 4070 SUPER were all listed in Europe. With CES 2024 approaching, retailers are also preparing for NVIDIAβs Special Address, where the company will unveil its new series of GeForce RTX 40 cards. One might see some day-1 [β¦]
Not.. bad
But 699$ for a 4070S and 849$ for a 4070Ti S is just kinda insane
Nvidia prices are just bonkers
Glad they finally figured out their naming scheme though
Ti is a "better" variant and SUPER ends up being a... mid-gen refresh I guess
"tie"
So is that the new canon lore that "Teee Ai" is just pronounced "Tie"?
If the boss says tie then everyone says tie
back to you steve
especially when there is no game which make use of it
4090 is a great card for people who make money out of it
Nvidia needs to stop gimping out on vram
What
Why do you need more than 8GBs?
12GBs is more than enough, 16 is becoming the mid-range VRAM offering
Are you serious lol
Yes?
I ordered my wooting 60he today π !
Can we all agree that the best wooting 60 he to buy is the ANSI United States ?
Even if i'm from France, the product will be way better ?
Like answer the question with no cop out answers like "are you serious"
Why do you need more than 8
Last I checked 8GBs of VRAM is enough for 99% of cases
12GB should handle all 100% without production workloads
1080p sure
There's already quite big share of games which need 10/12GB VRAM on high, even 1080p
16GBs is like, enough until 2030
Those must be outside of my interest zone, prolly your newest CoD or something?
Yeah, because I said so many times I play CoD -.-
CP2077 for example
Huh
Since when
I played CP77 on 1440p high on launch with my 8GB 2018 card
Phantom Liberty must have really been demanding
Yesterday I played it, 1080p Ultra, it took 9.5GB on average
Then my RX 5700 is some magical beast or something
Did they say whether the SUPER series still have DP 1.4? π
Who, Nvidia? They didn't even talk about it yet
lol noobs
to not use dsc
Did you see the new oled monitors with 4k 240 hz / 1080p 480hz
If things like that keep popping up I dont wanna DP 1.4
No cause they are unafforable for third world country people
300$ monitor runs on DP1.2 so that's all I need
Lol alright
Member when Nvidia subreddit gaslighted everyone "you don't need more than DP1.4 anyways" at 40-series launch
How the turntables
At least I am not polish, that would be fourth world country
I'm not buying them either at those prices, but I usually keep gpus for 5-6 years so maybe I'll have one in about 3-4 years without needing to upgrade
When new VGA DLC dropping?
I could settle for DVI
It's kinda annoying cause I feel like my next card will end up being an RX 6000 series
Prolly 6800XT but I wish it could be 6900/6950
But it feels sad to not go Nvidia but their prices are so dang steep
Im enjoying my 7800 xt a lot rn, its not so bad on AMD side
Last driver update gave us HAGS too Kekw
Super refresh doesnβt change display engine itβs the same shitty one for Nvidia still
Like, I am not willing to get anything below a 3080Ti or 6800XT
But 4070 is a bit... expensive
Kinda wanting to go Nvidia though
I got an AMD, and thusfar haven't hurted for RTX and frame gen
Mostly because the games I play either don't have ray tracing or would suffer from frame gen
I'm very happy with my 6900xt
Don't know how that'll fit in your budget though
I think they should be cheaper than 4070
I paid 881 cad for mine
Power consumption on those is a bit high but they are great
Indeed it is
6800XTs if relatively lucky can be gotten for 400USD
500 brand new
6900XT is like.. marginally better?
Playing cod/MC with shaders it eats up 200-300w
Yeah I only got 6900 over 6800 because it was 40$ more at the time
But I doubt it's a better chip, 6900/6950XT I think just runs a higher clock so it's just an OC'd part
Although I don't quite remember
40$ more for like 9% increase in speed/performance, I'll take it
Ah no 6900XT actually gets more CUs
6800xt and 6900xt have the same TDP
So it's more than just an OC
the 6950 was the one that got a small bump in tdp
Well considering with a 6000 series card you get FSR3 and AFMF, it's pretty dang great
Only thing you don't get is the Anti-lag+
I'm glad I don't have this
I would've gotten my apex account banned when this was causing bans when it first released and auto enabled
Skill issue
Play better games
There's virtually no reason not to enable anti-lag
New feature auto enabled in driver's: new feature gets you banned from games
What exactly is it? Same deal as Nvidia reflex?
Kinda scummy on AMD's part, although not sure if it's architectural, to limit the + version to 7000 series
Pretty much?
it wasnt autoenabled at any point
I seen lots of people saying they never enabled it but got banned check the driver software and it was auto enabled
Must've been false truths
mhm wasnt for me in the beta driver, maybe it was in the final release
Either way, AMD went about implementing that terribly
definitely
im not getting amd next because fsr really sucks vs dlss
6950xt has better memory than 6900xt thats it
I don't use those to begin with
Nvidia invested a ton of cash to make superior ai upscaler
I don't like how either of them made my game look
Superior AI upscaler
and obv rt cores suck on amd too
Well i prefer 4k native obv
and if we are talking about next, unless you mean a current gpu we dont know what Rt looks like on either vendor next gen
Yea the lower the res the worse they are
I play 1080p240 I don't need ai upscaling
Next nvidia.will.still hold rt perf
Especially on the games I play
yeah because you can totally see the future π
amd cant just quadruple rt perf in 1 gen
but by how much and is it at that point still relevant
Its not how tech works
If amd had magic trick to gwt better rt they would do it already
Ray tracing doesn't look that much better to me
yeah why didn't people just invent cars 100 years earlier
if they had a magic trick surely they'd have done it already then
they would refresh this gen to just gen better rt perf if it was possible
Same as they did with 3d cache
lmao absolutely not
there is a massive difference between changing core architechture and adding 3d cache when that was planned since the start
In the open-world there's practically no difference between RT and cubemaps
RT looks nice in closed spaces with a lot sources of light, but that's about it
Thats just hypercope
Tbh
It makes them look slightly nicer but the difference isn't noticeable enough for me to warrant using it
anti or ignorant to rt people have their 5 stages of copium
Or it's just not that noticeable for us
Wat
I literally tried how RT looks in person
So gpus that will have very good rt perf
pathtracing completley changes how cyberpunk looks
yeah because companies never fuck up in future products and stuff could never change
Its a different game
really isn't
Lookwise
really isnt
Obviously it lacks samples
That's the point - only CP2077 makes use of RT, and that's mostly because it's a game with lots of light sources and lots of closed spaces
I'll admit I didn't even try RT because last I checked it didn't work on my setup and even then 6900xt is too shit in it to even bother
Once you realize what rt can do and what raster cant you start noticing it a lot
You cant cheat your way out of dynamic light ing
but I don't really care about it in the first place as long as the performance takes this big of a hit
Yea rt on cards before 30/40 sucks
it still sucks on 40 cards
7900xtx can do something
the biggest difference for me is light blend
Color blending makes colossal difference sometimes
But i think also that current videogame rt algos arent properly constructed yet
mostly
they need to tweak it more to change the scene in more desirable ways
once games are made with rt in mind.it will be a big difference and even raster copers will give up
ok so in some years where both vendors are on like 3+ gens in the future so literally doesnt matter which vendors does what today
Bro had too long of a stroll either on Nvidia subreddit or some interesting YT channel
Well depends if you want to use it today or not
4090 has best any performance
by the time any game is made like that you'll need to upgrade to actualyl render that
But price sucks
4090 does not have best any performance
has and fixed the massive amount of issues with 7xxx yet
?
