excellent reporting as usual

can’t find anything that says “tesla-killer” in russian either
quite convenient how nobody really can fact-check this
Apparently people has dubbed it "tesla-killer" on social media, but quite conveniently source material does not share any link to said social media post

Not a particularly common surname, maybe distant relative

Disk caddies until G8: "Sure boss, you can pull the disk out even it needs a bit more force"
Disk caddies when G8 and after: "Yamete kudasai, please don't pull too hard, I might bend and break even" -.-
Older ones you could pull out of blades no problem, even when you had to use more force
Newer ones you have tickle around or you may break the hinge
It's not that much force, it's just they are made out of very thin metal sheet
Day and night difference
Hinge in a newer one I feel around that I could break them with little to no force
With older ones there's no chance I could break it
yea but you don't need much force to slide them out
I dunno then, maybe someone before me mucked up sliding them in, because they take quite a considerable amount of force, and several of them I had to lever out with a screwdriver
Sigh... here we go again.
My PC's randomly rebooted three times within the past hour, which is ... not normal. Once every few days is what I'm used to.
RAM "seems" fine (did one full round of Memtest so far and it's not provoked by temperature or CPU load. So that narrows it down to two likely suspects. A defective power supply that glitches out randomly, or the motherboard most likely.
Just do what I do and start nuking portions of you C drive

Hm i've had a faulty ram stick once that'd cregularly crash when it was in there, but fine during memtest
Does it audibly click while it turns off? If so, then PSU is faulty, I had that issue several months back
stick removed, stable system
Just a completely random reboot. No bluescreen or anything that makes it sound like a failsafe was tripped.
At this point I kind of want to just throw everything out and start over. But that's not cheap, and I assume we're in the late stages of the current AM5 generation.
On the other hand... it's hard to work like this consistently.
am5 awaits you
could always just get a 7600 and resell that when zen5 hops around
Price difference between the 7600 and 7800X3D isn't large enough to gamble on a resale I think.

200 vs 350?
I mean if it does impact work might be time to get it and just either skip to zen6 after or something
Anyway...getting ahead of myself. Don't really have 5-600€ to spend on hardware right now 😄
say it impacts you productiveness at w00ting :p
(and get a cheap laptop instead lol)
how old is your psu? and do you have a spare one that you could try?
I do not. But it's a platinum something from Seasonic.
One of the pricier ones that's about... two years old? three?
I had, but it seems I'm in a minority
and it's completely random? no pattern to it?
also have a seasonic psu. never had problems whats the question
Completely. I could be playing a game, or I could be answering emails in a browser, with just Spotify running in the background.
PC just goes immediately into black screen, and I can see by the debug readout on the motherboard that it's going through POST
anything in the event log?
I've tried previously to try and provoke it via excessive amounts of Furmark and Prime95, but it doesn't seem to be related to that.
Sadly no.
enough ram that you can run it with just one stick for a while?
maybe faulty sensors? no idea, try monitoring your temps with hwinfo
Running windows on 8GB of RAM. In this day and age?
really hard to tell

prime95 doesnt crash it?
Mnope.
what temp does it make at 95
my guess it's the psu
really nothing shows up in event viewer? that's weird
is it pluged into pleasents cursed house power?
I really miss working in an IT store. I could just drag the PC to work and swap out every component one at a time.
Looks like sudden power cut if it doesn't write anything to event viewer
I'm 70/20/10 sure it's psu, ram or mobo
So, shucking PC piece-by-piece until you'll find the culprit?
buy at a local store, pickup in 30 minutes, test out, return if necessary ;D
as if there are local stores anymore -_-
they are in czech ¯_(ツ)_/¯
there are, they just have fuck all in stock
Two issues with that.
- I can't provoke it, so it could be a week before it happens or more.
- 14 day return here, online. So I'd still have to pay shipping twice (and assume it fixed the issue, if it doesn't crash again within those 14 days or so)
well..
any time I go into a brick and mortar, out of 30 things they have 2 in stock, the rest you gotta order from their webshop anyway
so why not just order to begin with zzzz
And the few items they have are overpriced af compared to online.
To the point where brick and mortar is just...obsolete.
older ones made out of metal are even better lol

wtf android lets you do that, that's criminal
wireless charging at all is a shit idea

honestly think wireless charging should be made illegal

power issue most likely. are you using stock cable? tachyon/rgb brightness?
turning down the rgb should fix it
i did everything in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8ojU_8ASVE
If you are experiencing your keyboard pressing random keys and opening programs, then you came to the right video. The issue is usually caused by an instable amount of voltage entering the board. Follow along to see what you can do about it.

question for network people, I have my nas connected to my router and a secon lan cable from my nas to a switch, that one is on 192.168.1.x and the regular network obviously on 192.168.0.x if I plug something in on that switch, can I have it access the rest of the net by changing the subnet mask or would that not work at all
no but I set it so the lan2 on the nas has a different range than lan1 on it
Oh dear.
it's on purpose so that devices on default can't get into the rest
but now I needed to add another devices that does need regular access and I only had a port open on that switch so now I'm trying if I can go around this or need a different switch for it
Either they can communicate, or they cannot. Separating them accomplishes that one thing. I am not aware of any workarounds for "special cases"
Anything plugged into Port 1 on the router has one subnet, everything into Port 2 has another.
Including any switches put behind either.
wat
give me a sec to use paint
quins questions was if a nas connected to both switch and router allows someone on the switch to access the router subnet
Yeah, that'd be useful
unless i misunderstood
How would it be connected to both? Two separate physical ports?
yes
Then the NAS would specifically have to be set up for two physical addresses and so on.
they do that automatically
Let me finish.
And then it becomes a question of "Can I setup my NAS to handle having two different LANs for each app and jail thing I run?"
not what it was about though
Well yes. Yes it is.
Want to access SMB on the NAS? The NAS needs to be able to assign the SMB to two subnets and manage all of the cross connection.
not what quin asked
That's how I understood it. Bring forth the PAINT
I want that device C is able to get to my router
ye so the answer is no
No way in this configuration
Oh you're using your NAS as a router 😄
unless you specifically set up your nas to act as a layer3 switch this wont work
no
You need routing between .0 and .1 subnets
hes just having it connected on 2 networks
And routing traffic from the router is... acting as a router.
it is not though
A layer 3 switch is a router, Tony.
a and b are just poe ip cameras that I dont want to expose to the internet, just that they send data to the nas so for that the setup is working as intended
i am aware but why would you ever setup a nas for that
THAT we can agree on of course 😄
i would hope the switch is connected to the router directly
Wouldn't it be easier to connect everything to one router and then use VLANs? Or firewall for that matter
why would the switch be connected to the router
i assume some device on the switch gets internet
I mean...
no, I just added device C and I want that to have internet, but the cable was only making it to the swtich so I'm seeing if I could get away with not having to get another switch/long cable or something
and the only reason I was thinking about it was that I was able to configure the cameras with this setup from my pc that's on the router so there has to be some way to go that way
so the easy solution is to not have the nas inbetween like that but use a switch that supports vlans
Chat
that way the physical port can only connect to a specific vlan and nowhere else
I thought about something like this, with OpenWRT you should be able to do this on most routers
well the software for the ipcams runs on the nas so it was just the easiest to use the second lan port for a poe switch and have it set that way
Firewall then
also wouldn't work I only have one cable from router to where the nas and switch is
nah I'll just get a cheap second swtich that I put before the nas then and keep the rest as is
That would work too
Depends if it's managed or dumb switch, but yeah, that'd be perfect
yes a managed l3 switch would be ideal here
oh its a cheap poe switch for 15 bucks lmao
oh yeah ok well
I was also surprised the software was able to access the cameras without me changing anything so I thought there would be some way to use the subnet settings on the device to basically tell him to just use .0.x and find its way out
well that would require your nas to act as an l3 switch and route packets from 1 network to the other one
it did that then I guess?
would be quite odd as thats not a default setting
wait I remember if I change my pc's subnet I was also able to directly acces the cameras
so you setup your nas as an l3 switch basically
let me find out what the setup is, I certainly didnt do that manually lol
no I dont think so, lan1 has DHCP land2 has the .1.x static ip but the rest is default
odd
chinese software magic
unless your pc is connected to the switch it shouldnt be able to just talk to the cams. unless the nas runs some intermediate software that routes just the cams
cant do it right now because I am uploading something but I'm pretty sure I just set my ip4 subnet so i was on .1 and then it worked and I could get to the cams by their ip
interesting
eh, I'll just get a switch infront of the nas put it there then I also have a room for when I put my old pc there as second nas and dont need anything else
this is where knowing more about networking would make it easier but I'd also rather off myself before actually deep diving into that again
i wonder if ill ever get to use my unifi stuff again
no room for it?
need to get some good quality cable channels to glue on
switch with 4 ports for 8€ prices really are nice for that now
and then also find the time to drill through concrete walls
or maybe ill go with cable channel up at the ceiling and then go down to the door and patch in a very short flatpatch to go under the door
kinda wish back then I had gotten the bigger model so I could run pihole and co on it instead of now waiting to retire my old pc to use as second nas but oh well
i personally wouldnt invest in a nas anymore knowing how overpriced and underwhelming basically all their tooling is
id build my own if anything
oh it is 100% because ease of use for the IP camera software that synology has
If I weren't a dumdum and bought a NAS with ARM cpu I'd run TrueNAS too
I think the license for the camera software is tied to the nas so idk if that's feely available if I had it in a vm
ig as long as it's DSM doesn't matter if it's native or in vm, if it's synology or xpenology
idk at that point it's probably not worth my time to deal with that when it just worked out of the box and wasn't that expensive
oh wait i might have an old tp link router in boxes somewhere maybe I can use that as a switch if I find it
Citizenlab discovered BLASTPASS, a 0day being actively exploited in the image format WebP. ye
Both L45 and L60 are
well, device c works now with the tp link router swtich but I cant get to my nas hmm
might just try a different cable because if I can access the other device idk why this isnt working
hm the tplink router gets recognized in lan but I cant access it via its ip nor can I get to the nas still

my first time seeing Bazzite OS
its a Fedora based OS for handhelds that runs shit in containers
Odd location for the Install button xd
man networking is still so confusing
plug everything to one box and let dhcp take care of the rest
I see the router show up in the devces my actual router sees, but cant acces it, I dont see the new device but it can connect to the internet just fine lol
like I was thinking maybe I need to configure the router to work as a dumb switch but it somewhat works and I cant acces it so ¯_(ツ)_/¯
why another switch
so I can put one infront of the nas
so everything stays but nas and device c now go into a switch that is connected to the router
idk how else I would easily fix this
obscure? its available to anyone who asks and the power connector isnt special either
You still need a business account to use it though
And permissions within the business to setup the device
a "business" account with google just means you pay whatever google wants for a .com domain
and boom
you can order it
That's meen like that for ages

Anyone have some recommendations for a headphones for pc? Looking to replace my artic pros from 2018
Don’t need a mic anymore
urm does anyone know pcs like really well. Because when i play fn (performance mode) and low settings my cpu is hitting like 70-100% while my gpu peaks at like 15-30% at most is this normal? (I have a 5-9th and 2060 super w 16GB ddr4 3200MHz)
if the game is cpu bound that can happen
low settings makes it easier on the gpu too
yes
the game seems to like cpu a lot when youre in performance mode
i mean makes sense since it alleviates a lot of gpu load since its kinda not doing much on the gpu anymore
okay but it should be like stable frames right?
no i am dropping by 100 frames
does that happen to correspond to when something big happens on screen
or just cap your fps as the easier option
if you run unlimited frames at fully cpu bound you get those stutters
just building and editing, swining my pickaxes to my guns and drop down
i am capped it at 165
try capping it lower
144?
yea
alr let me check rq
I have plans.
wtf is that
M.2 -> OCuLink
didn't even know they made those
fair ig
still droppnf
You can use USB 3 cables for x1, OCuLink for x4 and x8. It's interesting.
do you actually get to those frame rates?
the game just doesnt really run that great on that hardware i guess
i have 4.1 cached. Would clearing it help?
do you hit the 144fps or does it drop below even without lagging?
i hit 144 standing still when i start shooting building etc then i start losing
try setting the limit even lower then, what cpu do you have
i5-9600k
wydm?
that cpu should be getting much more fps in performance mode
should it
the og season actually ran well
it should still be good for >140
I mean first youtube video is 2 weeks ago with 9600k and 2070 gets like 180fps on performance mode
yeah its just odd

Worst case, 1000€
PSU, CPU, Motherboard, RAM, New waterblock and accessories needed to redo loop.

Of course I might be able to sell some parts for a bit of a refund.
Pcpp really needs an option to show concerted currency
Holy... It's a new PC at this point
I mean, serious question is to consider if you really want to watercool the cpu still
Since it’s only for looks
Not getting more performance
It's about quiet.
Ain't touching those brands with a firepoker.
I'd rather pay to have peace of mind and not have a leak suddenly 😄
They are... what... 20€ cheaper?
Oh you can have quiet with aircoolers still, because big heartsink is enough to not even need a fan spinning fast
You could also cool it with the Noctua passive cooler lol that’s dead silent
7800X3D
Think in Derbauers test it was Alphacool Core 1 and then Heatkiller
Where tf do you even change pcpp to another region so I can see what those prices are wtf
Pretty sure you don't.

Like I said. Total price was 1000€ give or take.

Gonna reformat the PC tonight. See if that changes anything.
Then swap the PSU, since that's the cheapest part to change (and not a bad place to start for a power issue I suppose)
And if that fails, I'll have to bite the bullet and go the full mile.
german cooling sweep
why is it that so many cooling companies are german (and austrian) based

I mean optics are much more presision instruments than cooling
kinda funny
since both zeiss and leica aren't THAT old
neither are 200 years old
ek waterblock? what for? i can cool my 7800x3d easily with the be quiet dark rock pro 4
What for? My existing watercooling loop that's what for.
i c, i completely ditched water cooling
too much work for nothing, at least for my use case and my parts
It's a lot cheaper and efficient for me to buy a new CPU block than buy an air cooler, and have to deal with routing my watercooling around an air cooler for my GPU.

I have a weird idea, I want something like wooting keyboard but on dactyl manuform case. Is this even possible?
sure if you can figure out a way to sturdily mount hall-effect sensors under each key
and then write a firmware for it or use one of the already-existing open source HE projects as a base
I do not build keyboards myself, are there people who would take on such projects, for money? I'd love to know much money I would need to save up for something like this
The ZorinOS dark theme is so pretty 😍
ok, this is slick
you try to install Epic Launcher on Zorin and it suggests the Heroic Launcher instead
Slick? Sounds SUS
I wonder what else this shows up for when you try to install the windows exe
whats sus about this?
Don't install the thing you wanted - Instead try this one
its suggesting an open source launcher to run Epic and GOG games from
DID YOU MEAN TO TRY EDGE INSTEAD OF CHROME!?!?!?!?
XD
Et cetera.
That doesn't sound entirely legal.
yes but windows doesnt give you the choice, this does
how not?
Yes it does. It's still pestering you.
Heroic Launcher is fully legal
Did GOG and Epic open source their launcher code?
not sure about that
So you can't say it's legal. 😛
They havent tried to stop it...
Nyah
They use API to access your account and get games this way
It's ok for such uses
Yeh, you need to login to your GOG and Epic account
That's like saying you're allowed to pirate games, as long as the police doesn't come knocking 😛
its still legal, im sure... they are using official APIs and your real accounts for both services
You know... Technically...

also, if you are pirating shit you cannot legally buy anymore, then I dont see the issue
what you're asking for is a prototyping service, I'm sure some exist but the price would be exorbitant
you're not asking someone to "build a keyboard", you're asking someone to design a keyboard
this is the more questionable part, it says it's unkown but knows what it is?

Yeh thats strange xd
really is like windows telling you fiefox is unkown and you should use edge becuase the rest could be evil
thats a generic message though, from that popup UI
should remove it for apps they detect for this purpose
wouldn't want these popups on any OS ever
Thankfully it's desktop environment specific 🙏
ah right, the usual linux fragmentation
But of course
You need several hundred forks of everything, because behind each one there's a neckbeard who tells everyone "this feature will not be added" despite thousands of people asking for it
sorry it can take up to 24h for everyone to get this.
Awfully quick as far as Linux stuff go
I was afraid of that...
Is it complicated to mount those?
I'll try to research myself
I think you're way out of your depth here to be honest
hall-effect sensor is just an electronic component
so either you need a custom formed PCB or I dont even know some other weird way to mount them and wire them
like based on the questions you're asking, it just feels like you're missing the fundamentals
Discord now uses the iPhone Dyanmic Island to keep track of the time and members in a voice call when you arent in the app while in a call
if your iPhone doesnt have the Island, it uses a regular notification

A forced upon consumers massive notch that should not exist
There are literally phones out with under-display cameras, and if Apple INSISTS on that dynamic crapland, how about they make it not hardware based, but software based?
People in android sphere coded island in like what, a week after apple announced it? Purely software, completely disableable
Apple just insists on showing down consumers' throats a massive notch for no reason

Even letting them access the other account
thats why you never put cameras on the internet
That's why you should self-host your camera feeds
thats what I'm doing on my nas, not hard to set up properly
How's the security on your end?
for what, the physical access?
Well I assume you are hosting via a direct connection via an IP address?
I never took a look at in-depth cybersec, but I wonder if it's easy to bypass a MAC/IP whitelist if the host is available online and it's not just LAN/local
Kinda thinking of hosting some things on the webs without a domain, just an IP, and how to protect the thing cause I sure don't want some chinese webcrawler identifying a new available site and getting hit with an attack
vpn access to it
setup a vlan for the cameras without internet and connect a nas, nvr avaliable on both vlans and you interact with the cameras through the nvr, one option, requires managed switch / router that can manage vlans etc, plenty of info out there
Speaking of cameras
Since our window got smashed I'm finally going to get one or two....

Will you TL;DRW?
Intel finally getting competitive for battery life and GPU power
It's more efficient and matches the new AMD chips also
On x86???
How out of date are you??
They should bring that tech to high end desktop market, cause their Lakes are hella horrible at efficiency rn
Yep
This new one seems hella more efficient
But it's Intel so it's just naturally ew
Inb4 falls off
Yeh
Intel will get too confident and ruin it
They gave these new chips the worst name ever
Intel Core i7 Ultra <model number>
model number 34621135533kfds
I think it's only 5 characters max
I am absolutely not a person who could do this. It does sound hard, I understand that you need to design this and it requires knowledge in corresponding fields. My thought process was that maybe among some contacts I have I could find someone who could design just the way to install these sensors or at least give a specific explanation how it has to be done. It could help me tell if a few people I know are capable of such task. I just need to know first what kind of person am I looking for. Is it simply an electrical engineer or it has to be more specialised knowledge?
Just breadboard it
Finding someone who could just "do everything" must be hard and expensive but I believe I could find a workaround
For what fleimi is describing, you will need an engineer versed in both electronics and IT
One that knows how to construct stuff and then program them to do something
yeah electrical engineering/pcb design/3d modeling/cad/3d printing
and like, 2000€ to offer them for their troubles xD
That is very helpful of you. I have a lot of different kind of engineers and designers both in my family and among their friends, that is where I place my hopes. I just needed to know what I am looking for first.
Thanks a lot to both of you!
hope you find what you're looking for haha
You missed the "almost"
it's still worse than current amd while coming out like a year later, not too long bnefore amds refresh/next gen
wouldnt call it almost if you dont beat the competitions nearly last gen model
its not on desktop because it's not doing well when you scale it up at all...
Sounds like typical shintel tech
When's battlemage? That's the only tech that I would reasonably care for
late
Hoping ARC B just doesn't get completely blown out of the water by last gen cards
Let alone the new ones
It took Zen like what, 3 generations to actually be good?
Zen 1 was meh, Zen + was meh, Zen 2 was getting somewhere, Zen 3 actually was on par with Intel at long last at single core
zen+ was a fix for zen1 that wasnt a real generation
It did release like a year later
and for arc you gotta pray its not canned after battlemage
There was sum article that they already have preliminary support in some software for both B and C
Can reasonably assume C is prolly last dance depending of B's success
if something is cancelled they dont put resources in to finish all that was started
Indeed, that's how business works, and it's sad
so celestial showing up doesnt mean much
We have any real expectations for B even selling anywhere near what would be considered a success?
Arc A is like well below 1% marketshare
At least 5% would be prolly the best Intel could do with B, no?
depends on how big of a charity they are
Sell the cards at a discount and monetize the drivers
Monthly 9.99$ for drivers n support
BMG is late and might be the last dgpu from intel
Dauymn the AMD shills here, sit down
@fickle ore how is the 7800XT holding up?
Its alright no issues. Powercolor makes good gpus. Low temps, like 40-50c while gaming. Just that annoying delayed fps ramp up when booting up a game persists.
yeah I think it's something to do with shaders
Atleast Im not stuck with DP 1.4
but it's only at the beginning and normal afterwards
yep but still annoying
I mean, sure I might be amd biased, I just see good things on their roadmap and none on the other comapnies
including intel still having nothing that competes with vcache in some areas
never count out nvidia though
I mean they arent doing an intel but they suddenly got scared of mi300, on consumer gpus that is more in the future what happens there
nvidia has an angry spiteful energy that would never let themselves become lazy like intel
if strix halo is well received the bottom end market of dgpus will maybe be gone after the generation next
Strix Halo is VERY pog
But 2025 right? 2025 is such an underwhelming launch date
We could have it right now, why another year to wait
its not about what BMG can do its about how much intel wants to lose money on it
yea
Are Intel going to 100% lose money with each GPU?
Like, they can cut costs, they don't need 16GB of VRAM on every single model
look at the die size of the 770 vs the competing radeon gpu
it's like double the area, higher tdp, better node
Oh you are right
6nm TSMC vs AMD's 7nm
But isn't 6nm kinda just a derivative of 7nm anyways
yes but still some % better
Ah RX 7600 is also 6nm
oh no I mean the rdna2 competition
Well yes RDNA2 is 7
RDNA3 seems to be on 6
And about similar-ish in performance
2070S is kinda nuts with that 12nm process
the techpowerup specs database is not actual performance in game
Like, I don't see why A770 needs to have a 16GB model
For B770 or whatever, can't they cut down on the bus size and VRAM and make up the losses
capacity and bus size are related but not stuck together
you could if you really really wanted to torture yourself stick a gigabyte of vram on a 512b bus or 64gb on a 16b bus
ram is cheap and more ram means you can do well in upcoming stuff, in workstation tasks and things like rt/upscaling when they make use of it
Isn't bus size an easy way to cut on expenses?
going for less ram isn't an option and also wouldn't save much
on the chip side
AMD has been very forgiving in terms of VRAM size, but the bus size has been.. lacklustre
???
i mean somewhat?
but they are being very competitive
6900xt was the only one that was underbussed, but that was due to getting a ton of l3
rnda3 is so far away from saturating memory bandwidth since its overspecced for it's final performance lol
giving it more wouldn't change much
Hey quin
maybe on n33?
Is it bad running my desktop on an extension lead?
Because I just learned about amps on extension leads and how most people overload or something? Idfk
idk do you have a washer and AC on it too?
nah ocing the mem does still help a decent bit afaik?
Do you live in 110v land?
if you put nothing else on the extension it makes no difference really
230
if youy put some 5w lamps on it it also doesnt matter
Is your cord rated properly?
230v can do over 3000 watt
PC is on its own plug these days. 1 gang extension
Depending on the cord rating etc
as long as its not this hyper sketch type of cable that shouldnt be legal, youll be fine
Last I remember reading about ratings, you need to count those Amps
Don't exceed the rated amperage and you will be gucci
extension cords being bad is for sustained loads
THOWALL rack mount power socket with mounting brackets The 7 way outlets power strip with aluminum alloy housing is built of high quality and the design is practical, it’s affordable. You could use all 7 available slots, also has a large rocker type on-off switch that lights up clearly to indicat...
like if the cable is a normal cable it's mostly the same as putting it all in different outlets on the same breaker
13amp
230 * 13 =.?
if your gpu spikes alone cover more than the rest of the stuff on it like some low power things like that power strip nothing changes
And I still wonder why are they losing money
compare the die sizes
Maybe Arc B will have a die shrink, hopefully
Basically thinking of putting that below my desk. (Extension lead)
also look at the perf/dollar
@pale sigil does your stuff pull more than 3000 watt?
But the PC will be powered on its own separately.
I hope not. That's a lot of sustained power
The wall
1000watt is fine over that cable
I have pc both montors, desk motor and charging cable on the same extension
My PC will be plugged into the wall.
and index base stations
There has been some news that nvidia's recent success made all their employers so rich they're semi retired lmfao. Could very well end up like Intel did in the past. The thing is, the market is cyclical so Intel has learned their lesson. Nvidia may be the next Intel
16 amps (in nl) is usually the absolute max you can pull on a single breaker.
Which is 3_680 watt
that would be a disaster for consumers
well nvidia is huge and also does not need to worry about a foundry business
well yea but dotcom was special :p
.AI bubble
Having to worry about foundry is a good thing. If Nvidia falls behind on tech, they dont have foundry as a backup
Remains to be seen where it was. It's not visible yet
thats why intel is spinning out the fabs eh
Even Nvidia is on Intel fab hopium atm
they want intel fabs to make cheaper chips than it would cost them on tsmc lol
nvidia always do this, they did it with samsung
18A onwards intel could be nice but thats too far in the future to see results
Intel is ahead of TSM for newest ASML machines, idk if it was for 18A
nowhere near as huge of a bubble yet
high NA is for beyond 18A
Like I said, too much AMD shilling going on here
what is out there that makes it seem like the rest are in a better spot then
cpus we gotta wait for lunar lake or later to see if intel does well
not to mention data center lmfao
nah they did get the first high-na machine from asml a while ago, asml showed pics of it
but intel also had euv machines for 10nm and we saw how that went
We all should hope it's a success for Intel. Be nice to have good progress for once
well yes as consumer I'm worried about the price of zen5 x3d if arrow lake is that mediocre
but that doesnt change the facts that I dont see something better coming for them
If Xi is to be trusted on his word for 25 or 27 for Taiwan, u better hope Intel is in good shape or get ready for massive inflation/a lost decade in tech
nah people would just wait for the US branch of TSMC
I'm not insane enough to make predictions about future hardware based on world politics lol

if thats your worry sure intel might have an advantage
Doubt it will be that easy
or do they, with their fabs and people in israel which isnt a peaceful country either
literally at war
idc which has advantage lol, just saying its stupid to rely only on TSM and keep shitting on Intel.
but from just technological standpoint from roadmaps and co that we know, how could I not be shilling amd
Im not, and with amd shilling its mostly Vex's comments but w/e
AMD is like 3rd
its just exhausting to read the backhanded slights at intel at every turn
its stopped being funny back in 2021
tell intel to make better products?
I would hope they are, its just taking so long to turn that heavy ship
idiots kept resting on their laurels
yeah but so far it's no signs of the turning happening lol
so I continue and point and laugh
thank god we have the new CEO
usually we wouldn't even be talking about arrow lake much yet but we got such devastating slides so early on it's hard to make fun of intel
Tbh you can't expect the new CEO to turn ship in 2 years
It'll take like 3-5
sure but anything we are currently looking at is still not showing good promise lol
IFS and Mobileye are doing p good, others no
arrow lake started definition same quarter as pat joined
and it's looking very not great
current metor lake mostly has issues on low power mode so it's a fine laptop chip but wont end in handhelds and wont compete with apple options really
Im not up to date on latest tech and whatnot, but how is the parity if each gen was normalized to same node e.g TSMC's?
idk that doesnt even make sense to compare
But it does, you can see where Intel would be and where it is now, had their IFS kept up with TSMC
they are using tsmc for tiles lol
the only way to find that stuff out is by having the same product on the two nodes to compare
but that would be awfully dumb because tsmc is better at some things and intel is better at others (think cache vs clocks)
Right. I guess we'll know when Intel catches up.
no because you design stuff around a node, normalizing doesn't really exist because on another node you would do things differently
and it's not really an isse of tsmc being ahead if most of the chips is made on tsmc lol
oh yeah also meteor lake got delayed at least twice, and desktop parts canned, not a great look either xD
Sure sure, but the market is definitely anticipating something.
And Pat's tenure is just 2 years by now. Plenty of time.
idk what the market has to do with the products being bad
Everyone knows the products suck now no question about it
and so do the upcoming products
hoping that the next-next gen fixes it is valid but I'm not going to shill for a company where I need to wait for that to maybe see something better
Market disagrees, not that it means much
yeah the market also makes a stock go up when you say AI often enough
well noone is buying the products that dont exist yet
like the market doesnt care how big mi300 is that it made nvidia to a fail of a pr stunt about it
they cared that lisa saids its the fastest product to ramp to 2billion
that moves the market
but if that comes from the product being great or black magic isn't show in the market price
the actual performance of the product is usually priced in by launch thanks to speculation
the part that happens after launch is the reaction to the launch
and because expected sales and such is known before in financial calls
They're pretty well estimated
so arrow lake coming in Q4 2024 isnt priced into price yet
Not sure, something is being priced in right now by looking at the graph. Whether it's more of a intel comeback story or arrow lake I dont know
yeah well look at what those numbers say after next amd server options launched and people are wanting xeons even less
Telegram removed the Monet themed icon......
WHY??!!
it's always about the themed icons aint it
wifi flex
They pushed an update to fix it 😍
lol
One of those is ... not like the other though.
Whatsapp is wrong.
wrong?
It should be inverted to match the other two.
oh yeah
Google leaves the design of these icons to the app devs.. so they arent always consistent in outlining :/
man I couldn't even tell you what telegram or whatsapp icons on my phone look like lol
I know where they are and I just press them
same i just search for them in spotlight
spotlight shows app icons right?
yeah but i dont pay much attention to them
I like being able to differentiate icons by color
same I think I press discord and musicolet just because they are the color I expect them to be

all of this could have been so easily avoided... if only nvidia would have used the eps connector and not decided on this trash
Yep, pcie connectors only exists because they only wanted to certify psus in 75 bumps
even if its fixed still a waste to use yet another connector
or just be the same, imagine we had a 24 pin or something as the main one and the rest is all 8/6+2 eps pins
and also all the same pinout so different cables dont kill stuff
so much easier, so much less waste
Definitely a good camera to consider
does the internal brass wight bar in the tofu 60redux affect on keyboard's sound?
or it just adds extra weight
Camera quality on the newest ones looks amazing as well
Especially the low light performance
Eh
I've really not been impressed by the reviews so far
I really wish that they would try to beat phone quality
Ye now that's something you can't do with a phone
@astral haven didn't you say the new exynos was better?
The old exynos was better than snapdragon
The new exynos is better than the old exynos
Doesn't mean new exynos is better than new snapdragon
Also new exynos is not fantastic, look at tensor for the most recent exynos
S23 doesn't have an exynos variant does it?
Maybe it's just the s23u that was pure snapdragon and the lower variants got exynosed?
The FE has both
Fe is a very different device
It's a SD 8 gen 1 vs exynos 2200
Yea the 2200 was pretty trash
Faster than the 888 but also on a vastly better node for the same battery
And was late
2200 is the newest
Yes and no
2300 existed but was canceled because of how shit it is
And the 2400 exists and is releasing in less than a month
But the newest exynos chips are the tensors
They don't use the Radeon gpu, but the Radeon gpu was proven to be garbage by the 2200 anyways so it doesn't matter
Tensor g2 (oct 22) was released after the 2200 (feb 22) and the g3 came after that
Exynos is like Radeon, you don't really want to buy an exynos, the snapdragons are more expensive for barely better, but you don't want the competition to go away entirely...
damn
By ai generating it
Da comrades. We shall of using other people's gpu to craft ours.
as if lego prices were any good

can someone find a good gaming pc on amazon up to 700-800 pounds?
If you can't get a 6800xt what's the next best thing ATM
Outstanding
Ty
Why is the 6800xt so behind the 3080
Oh
Ignore me

we do, we do.
4070 pricing is absolutely ass
Wish Nvidia wasn't so greedy
Thinking of maybe upgrading to a 6800XT, they can be found used for sum 350-ish which is a banger deal
prices will decrease in like a month
Who are you, Nvidia insider?
And who told you that
Yeah yeah it's on CES
January 8
Too bad prices don't just magically fall on 17th or shortly after
Especially if you are not in america
Could be worth lurking on ebay or such to hop on some panic sellers
i know thats a thing people do
camping on ebay once new cards come out
to get good deals
but is it really that effective
like if you have that strategy in mind, so have 1000 others
someone delibarely buying a 4070 isnt upgrading immediatly once a 4070 super or whatever comes out
since they arent seeking for the best anyways
I am not sure if this is common or the correct channel for this post but while i have my left control key pressed I cannot press W key but I can press S,A,D key while I have left control held down. Can anyone help?
@ashen spindle I was wrong btw, the cable management pic I sent wasn't what it meant.
That was to hold the power thing.
The cable tray covers everything where
Kinda nice
For the Dutch people among us, that work with web:
https://github.com/w3c/eurlreq/issues/6
One way in which Firefox is clearly superior to other browsers.
Took them more than 20 years to fix the issue but they did it in the end: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92176

magicleap 2???
yeah I forgot about mero but thats not news
new(s) to me
AMD Mero powers Augmented Reality headset It has been a while since we heard about Mero, AMD’s low-power APU with RDNA2 graphics. The APU has been discovered by @_rogame running Magic Leap Demophon Augmented Reality headset. It was using Android 10 operating system and 720×920 resolution (for one eye). AMD Mero has been usually referred […]
may 22
not the exact same chip
except its the other way around apparently
mero is the original with less parts disabled
well yeah makes sense
van gogh made for surface, gets canned, mero for magic leap and then valve is like "uhhh we could buy that from you"
but it is nice I can finally link something to lana the next time she wants to argue that valve designed the steam deck chip
which is custom made to valve yeah bc volume demand is there now
Didn't watch the video before, but interesting find.
It does make some sense to share a semi-custom design with multiple companies.
it was known before just obviously off the record now we have something in hardware that wouldn't make sense otherwise
purely functional for loop is cool :D
lana that's just a recursive function..
I just never looked at it in this detail, but everything together makes sense.
The Deck was meant to ship at least a decent unit count but not enough for custom silicon per se.
Magic leap had a lot of investor money behind it that could bankroll the endevour.
also probably compiler hell
yes recursion for just a foor loop is a horrible idea
well the original design was still made for a surface project, idk if they said add these blocks for magic leap too or if magic leap said we want this with one extra bit or how it went down, but even magic leap didnt make this entirely custom
the timing of that isnt exactly perfect tho, and magicleap isnt that rich of a company
the microsoft project does still make sense

Dammit. I was thinking that but I couldn't tell for sure if it was an ergo.
Why a Maya if may ask

I like trying different shapes
Fair enough. I want a Thorn.
Or an X2V2H Founders Edition
My bad 😞
I’m gone 🫥
Nooooooooooooooooo
I was actually torn between getting the Thorn or Maya, but I figured since I already had a dav3 I would rather try a new shape.
ok im glad ur off glorious
Does glorious have any return customers?
I feel like people move on from them after the first experience.
I know some people who swear by Glorious, so I guess they got really lucky with qc
Is glorious the mouse with dpi as colors?
I think of it as a fad when there weren't as many amazing options as we have now.
