i have with this build u gave me
is that the motherboard doesnt have 2 display ports only 1 so what do i do about that
oh wait what am i even saying
im yapping for no reason
obvvvv i use the gpu ports
what are using the dp ports and stuff for mobo anyways?
if u have intergrated graphics?
it says it goes up to 5ghz
tho
tf
so if i get it should i just overclock to 5ghz? for atleast safe temps
or u could actually go higher i mean my aio cooler is top of the line
so idk
ah ok
yeah like my i7-8700k rn
i overclock it to 4.7ghz usually
and ive seen people do 5.0
but anything over 4.7
it crashes pc after a few mins
This is my pc currently
My stupid mobo lights don’t show up in armoury crate so kinda glad that new mobo wont have aura sync doesnt work half the time anyways
i dont know how to install a mobo only ram and cpu is it hard?
I wouldn't
I would honestly just engage eco mode if I were you
runs a lot cooler, a lot less noise
and next to no performance hit
could manually overclock and undervolt if you know what you're doing and are patient
I know what im doing with overclocking i been messing around with it for about a year on this cpu so
ive changed alot
currently on 1.3 volts 4.5ghz
eco mode?
i know thats a thing on power supply but like how would u turn that on
@crisp granite
bios
only on 7000 chips
when they realised people don't like chips that boost with whatever thermal headroom you give them
just be sure to press the pins flat
there's more of a conductive surface for the CPU if you do
👍
(this is obviously a joke, you will brick a mobo if you do)
Lmao
What does that mean
So what ghz should my 78003xd be at
So like 4.4-4.8 probably
i mean i love my custom charge
yeah my PST II from like 2003 is unironically the best leatherman I've used but then again I have not tried the better modern ones
only the wave which is bad
couldn't care less about epic
What?
Steam is similar and was even before Epic
Steam has always had a sliding scale
Not just 30%
multitool so basically sucks at everything
Indies were often starting between 10-15%. Lower as time went on, and AAA's start at 30%, then go to 25%, 20% ect.
I see the Epic brainwashing has served it well 😛
The sliding scale came after epic started it lol
If you think 30% is nuts what about Google pocketing 70% of earnings from Play Store
No, actually
It had it for years before
I was friends with the developers of Tripwire games, you know Red Orchestra, RO2 and a lot of other games
Even so far back they were telling me they were only getting charged like 15% instead of 30
This was before EGS even was a twinkle in Sweeneys eye
Steam made an announcement of how you go down from 30 after so and so many sales now
And that was after epic announced their new cut system
They made it more public because PR, aye
No it was not a thing before
Did Epic even offer a cheaper price for the games they sold? I mean if they cut 20% of the total price in fees then surely it was cheaper?

wait what
you take 70, google took 30, tho it should now be 15
That is up to the dev/publisher but yes some games are sold for cheaper there
out of the 30% that google receives, 70% of it is pure profit lel
or is it 15% now
also fyi this is epic numbers
I dunno
Anyway, Epic brainwashed masses for 12/88 cut
But there were no cheaper prices for customers whatsoever
The world war z zombie game was the first one iirc that lowered their price on epic due to that lower cut
i mean i feel better when the dev gets more of the money rather than the downloader platform
And I don't care, apart from indie games
There were singular games which lowered their price
Apart from that prices on Steam = prices on Epic
But several AAA studios loved Epic for lower cut, and mostly ditched Steam for that, like Ubisoft
and often steam is cheaper if you wait a bit for sales
The reasoning that 30 vs 12% cut being that more money went to developers bothered me because the big boys would still charge AAA price. Like why should I care multibillion dollar company made more money for its shareholders because the fees were lower
Steam client is still 32-bit x86
Ubisoft didn’t ditch steam for it, Ubisoft and EA ditched steam for their own launchers and only went to epic or steam after the cuts got lowered
To publishers* Developers earn salaries, maybe some bonuses if game is successful is all
They moved back because they realised steam and epic provided an advertising platform as well
No
Nah, AC: Mirage is still unavailable on Steam
On Amazon Luna though...
EA has reconciled with Steam, but on their own terms, EA Play and that kind of stuff
wait luna is still a thing
wtf is this????
Yeah a while after the cut got lowered on steam or origin would still be the only way for ea games
Still, Epic has sworn to itself to fight "PC games market monopoly"
By... paying off game devs and publishers to offer timed exclusive games
"publishers will decide where people will buy games"
I am surprised steam hasn't got an apple silicon version yet, maybe apple's stalling them to keep an app store monopoly?
Then again Valve lost a big court case in Australia because they didn't have anyone checking their emails for a court summons netting our consumer protection agency a win by default

maybe apple is just a very small market for steam
especially when games have to run through rosetta
yep fighting monopoly by paying for forced monopoly
gg epic
July 18 for the epic blogpost and December 18 is the steamworks blogpost
best part is that they lost money on it
ah
well
does it matter really?
Steam is moving towards x64 and ARM, but very slowly
Steam client is still x86-based, only several components, like overlay, are true x64 components, and when they'll work on porting that to ARM...
they lose money on everything they try
Apple is also giving middle finger to valve so they aren’t really incentivized to make that port
And Valve is giving middle finger back, like pulling macOS support from CS2, delaying new UI update for macOS, and ditching macOS Wine branch when it comes to Proton
and valve is working on updating their store
on the steam deck
Valve's greatest sin is sloth
Just lazy
Vetter then greed though, something Epic would be quite guilty of were they to be in control of the pc gaming market
i dont think its laziness
They missed a major court case in Oz because no one checked the emails
did they care?
Yes
Macos on wine got dropped because apple actively worked against it only to then use it as their own product in the game porting kit
It lead to Valve being forced to implement a solid refund policy
the metal thing or whatever they called it?
Ah yes, that too
But it happened after Volvo ditched macOS wine in Proton, no?
lol
(and afaik is violating the license of proton)
bruh
Dropping support on cs2 is the same as rocket league, it was just such a small player base and using newer D3D meant it’s more work to get it running on apple than before
Yeah but idk in case of epic against seemingly the world
gonna need some sauce
i also do not think valve actually cared
all the news articles i can find say they were fined 3 million
Yeah it was after but they acted liked it’s they own when half of it was some slightly changed open source version of it modified as they needed to present it as they own solution
But again they ditched it on proton after apple actively worked against supporting it
which is what a few hours setback?
apple "innovation" moment
it's the users who lose tbh
fucking annoying to have 300 fucking launchers
If apple wasn’t so hard to work with I’m sure steam would have a port by now easily
I mean even Blizzard ditched MacOS and they used to really push for all their games to be on Mac
GOG Galaxy came with solution
Only to end up working worse than if you'd run all launchers on your PC at once
why do all launchers think they have the right to start on startup and to tick the boxes for data collection by default
luckily it is easier than ever to remove stuff from startup
Steam on the surface, sure, it's a web browser
But also a collection of drivers and software sitting deep in OS, so stuff like Steam Input works
I don't know what application I discovered yesterday that had a data collection box
but it was something that didn't need it

that is a question for a doctor or nurse, not random chatrooms on the internet
ah well you have answered your own question
eat salt stuff while you're at it
Well I am here to admit
Found nottin, suppose I just got lied to by an internet guy.
However valve did care a lot about the court case
https://www.accc.gov.au/media-release/full-federal-court-confirms-that-valve-misled-gamers#:~:text=The ACCC commenced legal action, pay penalties totalling %243 million.
again dont think valve cares about it much
I don't really think gamers care that much either
the convenience far outweighs the benefits steam gives
Having a universal game launching platform is very nice and epic can go fuck themselves
I literally don't like epic since I ever heard of it
epic is good
changed entire stance on refunds after results of court case
"TheY DOnT Care!!!!"
how dare u
I will always be favouring Valve and Steam
If not for them I wouldn't dream of ever gaming on Linux
Now they did so good job I could ditch Windows completely
they were like
eh whats our quickest solution?
eh just give them the refunds we will still be wildly profitable
nah
tbh , epic games downside is just need to relogin , other than that my experience with it is good
they're really doing quite well
plan to support it
I wish you a very having your data sold even more than on steam (idk if they sell user data tbh)
epic for sure does
this one doesnt gets me , since i dont have my important data in my laptop , so somehow didnt gets me (i am serious)
- Then why didn't they change their stance before the court case when gamers pushed back? Only doing so after losing at the high court?
- Why did they bother appealing?
Like of they didn't care the refund policy would've been in place years ahead
i bet this has been asked many times before, but im wondering what the difference between digital and analog profile are ( are there any ?, and is there a definitive better version ? )
that's what they all say until it happens
Analog - Can bind controller keys to it.
Digital - Cannot.
wdym , is not as same as ur stuff got hacked ?
okay huge ty <3 , so this shouldnt affect gameplay in any way :3
it's similar but this time it keeps working so they can collect even more data as you go
Not unless you specifically change it to do so no.
oh , if is like this is ok , i got hacked before so , i will think as long as they dont hack my pc i will be fine (for me)
so mad
i define care as investing significant time or what would be a meaningful amount of money to you
valve contracts lawyers, so its not investing time, and their massive dragon hoard wasnt meaningfully impacted either way
they didnt change anything before because they cba
and they just implemented the quickest easiest method of getting the authorities out of their hair
recently steam also gets me , also as annoying as epeic games tbh
i got 1 steam accounts on 2 laptop
one always log out
makes me dont like steam as much as old version
For one because Steam fucking keeps logging out of my browser 😄
used it
And their app takes forever to load up.
but is annoying
Steam Guard nowadays is a must
Especially with how hackers are familiar with how Steam's subsystems work
and recent upate can make ur steam stuck at logging in forever
one of the reason steam is not as good as b4
have to force close
but i do think , i canr complain about this, since i have to use this
"LOL you mad bro
They didn't care about Australia's laws except they paid for lawyers and when they lost quickly changed their policies!"
I feel you are trying to move the goalposts by redefining the meaning of "care".
valve hiring the lawyers is like me spending $10
once
it's instant on my phone, even has faceid to unlock and scan qr to login into your account
Oh yeah
If Valve is short on something, it sure as hell it's not money
phone and pc is diff ?
if my city was saying, spend $200, or spend $10 and $100, id do the second one
that doesnt mean i care about the situation
Valve made a huge announcement
"No refunds, ever"
Australia sued them over that policy and Valve changed it
Maybe you could argue they didn't care much, but quite clearly cared in some capacity to make the announcement, fight the lawsuit TWICE, and then change the policy to avoid increasing fines
i see
$10 would be irritating to me, but i still would just pay it and move on
a person who didnt gave a fuk about their own spending
And they're so open with other devs using Steam Marketplace too!
Not because they earn 5% off of every single transaction or something
But they didn't just pay it and move on
They battled the ACCC abd appealed to Australia's high court
who is they
Their lawyers
and how does valve hire lawyers?
Valve and their lawyers
[citation needed]
everything i can see only shows the lawyers showed up
With money
So not only they getting that 3mil fine but they hiring some cracked layers that probably charge out the ass
And I'm pretty sure their lawyers have an untapped access to Valve's legal funds, so of course they will be effective
so imagine the lawyers charge another 3 mil
in the time we have taken having this argument, valve has made more than that (estimated)
What, valve only cares if Gabe hinself shows up?
time invested by valve employees
now if you include their contractors as valve themselves?
i dont
and thats a really dumb definition imo
Of course they send only the bare minimum in, the lawyers know what they are doing in a court of law, game devs do not
but you can have that opinion
Given they've earned $13bn in 2022, that is somewhere in the ballpark of $400/second
2 hours to earn $3mil
holy fuck
They represented valve in a court case against Valve, they acted on behalf of valve at ever turn, under valve's orders, and no doubt told Valve they would lose, but Valve demanded they persue anyway in the off chance they won.
No they didn't send Gave Newell himself in, but Valve was in the court room as every other company is in a court room: being represented by a lawyer.
You are now trying to redefine the entire fucking court system just to win your original argument.
If we follow your argument almost no company ever cares for a court case, even during ones that destroy their entire company and the lives of all the shareholders
???
Rookie numbers, if we account that Apple earned $394bn in 2022 they were making $12500 per second
valve spent 3 minutes of emails and and a few minutes of profit to try to save a few hours of profit
apple has 160k employees
valve has under 300
It's more about how obscene amounts of money corporations make nowadays
imo its fine for a company to make alot of revenue if alot of it is just paying people to do things
The reason valve cares about losing this court case isn't because 3 million is a lot. It's because it sets a precedent that every court case afterwards is going to use to hammer harder and harder at valve's wallet if they didn't change their policy. Not only in Aus but other countries might factor these decisions in and decide to take Valve on.
Valve wanted to win as losing meant their policy would cost them a lot
again you havent cited any sources here
it looks to me like valve spent 3 minutes emailing, and 2 hours of profit approximately on this scenario
and thats 2 day hours not 2 work hours
What am I meant to be citing? Gabe Newell's tears?
I cited the one document you needed, the one where they fought the ruling, lost and appealed it only to lose again. After that their refund policy changed
and my claim is that valve hired lawyers to do that as they always did
its not like apple where they have lawyers on staff in every country
Your claim was that Valve didn't care
Not hiring permanent expert lawyers in Oz doesn't mean they didn't care about the court case.
if liam wasnt there, valve didnt care
Who's liam?
A US lawyer?
As in someone not versed in Australian law at all?
That's like saying because LG didn't send their best blender technician to develop their next air conditioner they didn't care about air conditioners
Like bro
If you're Gabe and you gotta decide between training your local lawyer for years for a court case that's already in progress, vs hiring a team already well versed in the local laws for legal counsel and representation on said laws. You're gonna go with the second option
if lg were a company that was dealing entirely in blenders previously, the head of blender development would oversee the development of any new products even if they didnt have any expertise
No matter how much you care
Hell, if they didn't care they would have sent Liam to make an ass of himself in court.
that would have taken more than 3 minutes
of valve employee time
just because you dont understand how it works doesnt mean the rest of us dont
I understand how it works and that's why I know you clearly don't
i work in a place that is staff limited and you have to make choices
Is LG/valve staff limited? They hired on experts in the field they didn't understand
now is valve being staff limited a choice that is good? no real way to debate that
but thats what they chose
hired is not contracted
hiring is a 6 month process with approvals and paperwork
contracting is 2 emails, sometimes 3
"Hire a contractor" is a very common term, you are arguing around semantics
you said hire on
you are arguing around semantics
hire on implies they join the company
i mean you are leaving me nothing to work with
you have provided zero evidence, so all i have to go on is your words
Trying to pull apart the individual definitions of the words I used instead of what I clearly meant. They hired a contractor
You are being quite dishonest
speak for yourself
That's not an excuse.
I gave you my reasons for why they care, which is that they put all this effort in when they could have just rolled over immediatly on the issue and saved the money on a lost cause
You're argument is that "It doesn't really count because Gabe himself wasn't crying in court when the sentence came down"
if that were my argument, you still didnt address it
fyi
and you know full well it isnt my argument
again seems like you are projecting here...
You said "If Valve cared they would send Liam"
I told you frankly: Liam is not an expert on Australian law, it would be a horrible idea to send him. Therefore they hired contractors to fight a battle they know they should've lost
and i have now asked 3 times for proof of valve investing effort
What the fuck does effort mean to you?
They hired some lawyers to fight it, lost, appealed, and lost again to the Highest court in Australia, and then changed their policy and paid the fine. Like what else are they supposed to do?
At what point does the "effort" show they did or did not care?
Wouldn't the fact they changed a company wide policy on the matter show they cared even a little bit?
you first started out saying they sent lawyers
when i searched for lawyers on their staff and found only a us attourney, you said well no they just hired experts
and now you have finally backed down to contractors
and i say spending 1 minute drafting emails to legal firms and 2 minutes drafting emails to their contracted support teams isnt "caring"
Don't see this posted yet
$18bn revenue in Q3 alone
stock down in after hours because investors expected even more
totally not a bubble...
hopefully the ai bubble wont be as drastic as the dot com or housing ones
+206% from last year
fucking thrice what they did last year
What the fuck
I give it 4 quarters before the last chatgpt wrapper startup is insolvent
34% up from Q2 and 206% up from 22Q3, and they expected MORE?!
See, this is what I meant by dishonesty.
Because when people usually say "They sent their lawyers" We don't mean people have lawyers on 24/7, we mean lawyers working for them whether its permanent or temporary.
I specified "experts on Australia" law because their permanent US lawyer wouldn't be an expert on Australia law, and to be one they would have to train him for a couple years. Which would be kind of hard to do because the court case was already proceeding and they needed someone now for a single court case. No matter how much or little you cared about something you would likely go to an expert lawyer of Australia to know here you stand on a Australian law.
I have no idea what you mean by "backed down" they contractors are legal expert lawyers, that doesn't make them less then permanently employed lawyers, and it doesn't mean they don't represent Valve.
You keep coming back to the cost in minutes, but I pointed out the real cost isn't the first fine, but the potential for every single fine they were going to be hit by afterwards if they didn't change their pace. Not to mention a possibility of losing their license to operate a business in Australia.
Like it just feels instead of arguing my points you decided to attack the definitions of the words I used to try and find cracks in my vocabulary, and not my arguments
again speak for yourself
How so?
I love you don't worry
whats this?
- Permanent Staff
- Temporary Staff
- Contractors
Half-Life 3 Confirmed
Me pointing out you were asking for unnecessary specifics
and was I?
Meanwhile we got Half-Life 1 multiplayer balance patch
Who tf plays Half Life 1 multiplayer
Nobody
HL1 multiplayer looks like a make a wish unreal tournament or quake
again the whole argument seems to be you missing this key aspect
I referred to Valve as "They" as in a team
You asked my to identify who "They meant"
I said Valve and their lawyers
You said: Well valve themselves didn't turn up (hinting that this meant Valve didn't care about the court case)
I responded with a sarcastic quip: "What, valve only cares if Gabe himself shows up?"
but again valve didnt show up
??
I mean maybe you don't, but you don't have a billion dollar company like Gabe?
zero people from valve
why are you even typing
i found the one person from valve who might have been involved, and couldnt find evidence of them showing up
So how many people do they need to bring before they "care"?
Because he wasn't an expert on Australian law
What evidence?
Changing their entire policy on refunds would have taken a lot more then 3 minutes
Hell, that might've required a whole team meeting with their customer service managers and the Australian lawyers
ah yes all 4 people
Even a 15 minute meeting in that case adds up to an hour
But if you meant an hour of a single employee time then I gotta point out team meetings always drag on. Especially when you are trying to teach something.
while that is true, valve operates on emails
That still would have required a bit of reading
Quite a bit of reading
Like an hour might be too low of bar to set here, especially because the Oz government legally mandated Valce implement the training
Just saying, a single hour equating to they care means I won the argument before it even started
so you claim
but the number of valve people involved is so far likely 4
and none of them needed to take any actions besides forwarding emails
How many are employed at customer service in Valve?
now if you have evidence of them doing more?
provide
3
the one person maintaining tf2 isnt even an employee
neither is the team working on the current half life celebration
The Court has also ordered Valve to:
publish information on Australian consumer rights on their website for 12 months,
implement a consumer compliance program for their system and staff, and
not make any similar representations to Australian consumers for three years.
Not surprising, it's quite hard to give employment to a potted plant after all
I know Valve's customer service is shit, but surely they hire more then 3? Do they hire outside contractors to deal with it?
obviously
I mean having to train the outside contractors in multiple countries on their new policy would take more then an hour. Even if it was "Just an email" writing out such an email would take a good while and then you gotta answer a lot of questions that might come back
question is what did valve do
part 1 is ez pz, forward that to one of their contracted web devs, that cant take more than a minute or two
2 seems like it would have got forwarded to their contract agencies, and if valve themselves did something, there should be evidence of that somewhere
and 3 also seems like something that the agencies themselves would have to handle
whenever valve does something, theres usually evidence
as we all know how leakproof valve is
i still cant believe that this internal tech demo was just left open and they left it and anyone can just add it to their library
brings us back to the main point
is disinterest laziness?
valve is like many children
you make them do something and they do it, otherwise they just do whatever they have fun with
and the company structure encouriaging that definetly doesnt help
Who knows what's happening there
The company tried to ruin itself lol
Either it'll be way worse after this
Or way better
I am betting on worse

pretty sure noctua is a beast
Beast not best
Noctua is probably what I would describe "universally good"
Not that there aren't better options
Also Noctua's colour scheme is just really ew
i dont mind their color, but then again my computer is under my desk and mostly in a black box
i just buy arctic p12 max, they are rather cheap and perform well
Huh
I have not heard of this being an issue for liquid metal cooled PCs
Are they like not properly mounting the heatsink?
Or is there not enough liquid metal in there?

What in the fresh hell
What is that unholy concoction
Oh thank god. Just a meme, not a serious product.
wtf
wtf
i had surely expected it to break ngl
Bend it
Nothing wrong can happen, surely
Aaand the saga comes to a close
It was fun for the last week to see the little corporate bullshittery, but eh all things end
did it get sent like that or in a box?
The one with RGB cuz RGB
You'll be running them at 10000 MHz or what, so that you need cooling for them?
Relevant answer? It's a memory stick, not a CPU or GPU
Cooling doesn't matter that much
box
Just pick one you like how it looks better
who cares what ram looks like? they're inside a case ffs
It's RAM... it doesn't need cooling (the answer is the one without RGB because LEDs create heat)
In other news. Hooray for new (forced) windows update. explorer crashes if I riught click the taskbar now.
(yes)
DDR5 actually can get quite toasty
Lies and slander from bigfanma
😳
Quite toasty aka 60C if you're pushing them, 70C if you've OC'd them and pushing them hard
Meanwhile, according to JEDEC spec modules can work on up to 95C
But realistically they'll cruise around 40~50C max
Yeah and any airflow case will move air over them so it’s even less
Sure b die was known for issue when ocd and all but that’s where you just put a cooler on it anyway
ram is so silly looking
Where are those sexy, beautiful, naked PCBs?
in servers
expensive
i think i have some of those still
Where can i find a accurate fps caculator for the cpu i want with gpu for games
Are they all mostly inaccurate
find a benchmark video with that combo
I have watched some but they are like deathmatches and deathmatch is different fps then a real game like competitive or wingman
Won't deathmatches be actually more challenging on PC, given there's happening a lot more on the screen than in comp?
asus used to do a lot of 3d printable accessories in the Z170 time
Manufacturers would never send useless crap to have better marketing to justify higher priced
razer stickers make up 30% of the products price
these are quite nice on glass https://shop.x-raypad.com/shop/obsidian-diy-mouse-skates-universal-0-8mm-ptfe-dots/
yeah but like
these are the stock ones
and
the extra ones in the box
i guess ill just swap em over i dont think it could hurt
I guess in cs2 yeah but i dont really play deathmatch just want to see how it plays in regular games in deathmatch it averages like 600-800 fps in cs2 which is insane though
on glass smaller skates tend to be better over a larger skate
Welp, i finally oppened my m711 and now i get why people like light gaming mice.
Good boy headpats
ill see
these seem to be higher
so when will you get an M2S
Skypad just made some dot skates that are better than those obsidians
mhm rn this is very smooth
or like
its goods
i think yeah, it can be even better
but main reason for glass mousepad honestly was being able to keep it clean better
Im only using it because I can't find the wireless receiver for my spare 702
And yes I need a new mouse mat, well, the one I robbed at wootup is making its way here.
I just got a new mousepad
only if you need grip tape
Realized my tiny desk doesn’t fit it
getting a new desk now

Whens that
I already know I'll widen my desk soon
It helps if you have a grip that slips when you sweat profusely like the gamer pig you are
it is massive though
But the benefit is that I don't have a table edge and then the mousepad edge
its pesonal preference on if you require the grip or not
Desk will become like 800 wider so soon it'll look less huge
I mean I don't think I do
das a interesting looking setup hhaha
maccas gloves ?
yeah for touching model cars and glass lmfao

how can you guys game on a ultrawide monitor
it seems delusional to me
dont you have blackbars left and right?
yknow shit is up when
Why would I? Most games support ultra wide
No?
damn and if you for example wanna sort your inventory in fortnite?
you need to look so far right
ofc its something to get used to but I respect that if u can actually play on them
are u okay
i am jelly 😦
Most games support UW and that means either UI is in a place where you don’t need to look to the entire corner or you can move the UI
Also if you fully need to move your head you might sit a bit too close

how is that even possible...
You don't know what's possible with polish ISPs
Usually it hovers around 950Mbps download
Only today it decided to kill itself

Sure they aren't throttling Netflix?
With the upload that high that looks like a intentional slow down for Netflix
Nah, it's on every speedtest I've tried
If it was only Netflix I wouldn't even notice

you keep it stock
yes but stock is also not killing things
Is this a new Pixel Gesture or a feature of my custom ROM??
How come intel has slower ddr5 at the top?
Stock?

What is wrong with 12gen?
You know the fan here is set in such orientation so it'll blow towards card and not RAM, right?

Puke beige and poo brown, classic Noctua

i had to add the emote xD
Btw, is VNC just shit? I can stream a game via 1440p perfectly smoth but my desktop feels rough delayed.
Highly depends both on server and on client
But most of the time VNC is a fallback solution when everything else fails
I'm surprised you can game with it
is the wooting 60he good for programming or should i take a other one?
You can program on a rubber dome keyboard.
wooting software support is pretty great though
wootmation is probably easier to set up compare to other keyboard with software
🤔 those are some oddly uneven bezels

false advertising 🤔
Polling is useless without scanning to match anyway
its for mice
Yes.
Asking for the same value eight times in a row when it can't change is a waste.
it absolutely can change though
most likely will in use even
also what about it is false advertising?
it still does 4000hz
even though they also over 8000 on it now
atm that is the sad reality for basically any mouse
can't even buy it
if i remember correctly the dav3 wired can change polling rates without software

didn't you need ghub for the switch setting
I've seen people use OMM to change settings for GPX 2

https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project/pull/73133 ah first commits for the new gfx ip so the release in 6-8 months seems to fit
These are always funni
Microsoft getting the tools to control the future of humanity though isn't something good
awesome
nah, i use moonlight for games
Good, I finally have a geforce product so I can actually stream w/ moonlight lol
its been pretty great when im away
Radeon afaik is unsupported
it is supported
you could use sunshine
I have a laptop with RTX 4060 now so I will try to hook it up to my 55" CX
CX has a native moonlight app (when homebrewed)
moonlight is on A LOT of devices now
Pretty amazing
How does the whole thing with online streaming work?
Seems really damn insecure to connect to IP address and have full access to a PC
Cool, Firefox got another cool update
owo
time to update
I can now disable another one of my addons lel
this has been native to brave for some time
im surprised it was not on ff
Ok but Brave runs on chromium therefore it's automatically shit
There's addons for everything
Welcome to the world of open-source
I'd trust them more than you
Mozilla manually verifies addon code anyways
So it's not like it's unsafe

Oh it's already out?
Why does my right click context menu look so much different than yours
Probably because Linux
Ah, brainrot
Also Send Link to Device is because I have connected both PC and phone to Firefox account
That feature is actually really useful
I just can't be bothered to remember my firefox account password
I just log in with Google
So does FF
It looks like it, yeah
Arc is the worst of few worlds
- Based on Chromium
- Absolutely proprietary
- And with wonky codebase - devs prefer to port the ENTIRE SWIFT library suite to Windows, instead of use universal APIs or Windows native ones
Still, I'd gladly try to try it out
But for some weird reason devs wouldn't support Linux
Despite the fact that Apple themselves already ported Swift corelibs onto Linux
Here https://github.com/apple/swift-corelibs-foundation
Me
Credit where credit is due, Google's changes to Youtube and ad-blocking hasn't affected me at all
Not in full effect yet.
That's why I said I'd like to try it out
If Google wasn't tinkering around Manifest V3 and subsequent incoming breakage of adblocks I'd most likely use Chromium alongside FF to be honest...
We'll find a way to bypass V3 somehow
Yeah, by using Firefox
Yep, pretty sure Firefox said publicly that they will implement bypasses
Anything with Chromium
So... all of them
Except for firefox and a few paid ones
From what I understand it's still gimped by V3
Firefox will implement V3, but won't remove V2's methods, like WebRequest
Which Chromium ditches
And what will gimp uBlock Lite
They are calling it a new name now
umatrix isn't updated since 2021
It has been absorbed by uBlock
ayo can somone here recommend me a 10G nic for my PC?
I never touched IRC
What's it all about?
A bit of a before my time thing
Anyways isn't the spiritual successor of IRC technically just Tor lol
If you want something cheap that will do the job then TP-Link TX401, widealy available and is okayish
If you're looking for SFP+ stuff... that's a bit more complicated, again Asus' XG-C100F is okayish
Just remember you need CAT6A/CAT7 cables or fiber for SFP+ to fully utilize 10G
i honestly have no clue bout this whole SFP+ etc stuff
but i can say that i dont really wanna buy anything from TP-Link
got Cat7 rn
Buy Teltonika
Asus XG-C100C is 8P8C/RJ45 if you want, also pretty popular
Other than that something from Intel, Synology, Supermicro, Dell etc. will do
Nobody appreciates Teltonika
never heard from and when i searched that name 10G nic i got 10g switches xD
What's the difference
i already go a 10G switch xD
but my PC MoBo interface is just able to handle 2.5G
like its a pci card for networking
Ahh a NIC is just a fancy way to call a PCIe network card
Was wondering wtf is a nic
Yeah teltonika prolly don't make those
Network Interface Card

The only sad thing about 10G is that it gets pretty expensive pretty quick
Though I love TP-Link
Because it's so easy to flash own firmware to it
ASUS is easy too
yea basicly i dont wanna buy TP Link cause they got a lot of exploits and zero days in their products i dont wanna buy a backdoor to my PC
Exactly, that's why - custom firmware
All my routers run OpenWRT
I remember looking into flashing something called Merlin on my asus thingy
Gave up cause I didn't need any new fancy tech anyways and it was more bother than it was worth
wellp
Yeah, Merlin is Asus focused, based on their firmware and with their proprietary drivers
OpenWRT is linux-based and has fully open-sourced drivers
@umbral heron sorry for Ping what do you think about Intel X550 or 540
Server-grade stuff, I like
Yeah, Intel is very solid when it comes to networking stuff
yea... if you ignore the infamous i225 ethernet controller that to this day is a fucking mess
Well supposedly they fixed it
tell me more
yeah and even that seems to still have a few but less severe issues
Oh that
Best 2.5G but in reality 100Mbps networking card
I mean it just had a huge variety of issues, thankfulyl most of them were on 2.5g mode so if you only used gigabit you had less
yea
and the most used ethernet controller on most mainboards for a decent while
now you guys completly confused me Q_Q
thankfully 2.5g was not what most people actually use so it was fine for most
basically they had a ethernet controller, the i225
that had a load of issues
the fix is they have a never version that doesnt have them anymore
its not a general issue on their hardware just that controller had so many
so should i be worried or anything? when getting X550?
And not the v2, the v2 is still broken, the v3 is the working one
.
It was an issue with i225 only, overall Intel is really solid
Yup
so im fine going with that?
X550 is a good unit
ty
I got a new toy!
Quite expensive that toy
Goes against my dogma of only getting adaptable lenses but I couldn't pass it up
Under 1k technically
Lighter and larger aperture than my previous 50-100
But also mostly plastic so :/
but how does that toy earn me more bitcoin???
We are not mining crypto on cameras again ;-;
but we are minting nfts out of shitty photos

lol

guess I should stop being lazy and put my bitcoing from binance into a cold wallet since I just want to keep it for a few years as fun
unlike ftx tho this one is just them allowing bad things to happen, not them doing bad things
yup
its not out of fear that its a ftx or mt gox I just cba if in the future something happens and I'd have to deal with it
i havent bothered moving out of coinbase due to the bitcoin transaction fees
yeah those do suck
but I mostly did all the things as fun with the vegas attitude of its gambling and I just put in what I wouldnt care if its lost
so having some fees eat that away just so I can have it in cold storage doesnt bother me too much
and mine was all from mining, and i already cashed out for the electricity cost lel
alpharegretable!
How good are the wooting 60HE stabs? Stock, since mine is coming to be shipped very soon
I came from using g pro x tkl keyboard so I was just wondering
Is it worth me switching from a superlight to a death adder v3 pro (i palm grip)
https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/181kdqy/just_got_my_steam_deck_lcd_heres_me_and_my_moms/
how expensive is that
I want it for my camera
brain dead takes are always entertaining
I like how their argument boils down to it would be too much work for Sony to support a handheld / get games running on it
like games aren't made to be scalable as is
i.e, performance and quality modes, wouldn't be much extra effort
Although I ain't a Sony boi, I can see that especially with the PS5 dominating the market Sony was completely ass backwards not making that new handheld a Vita device
forward looking doesnt mean forward acting lel
True
But then they made that really dumb streaming thing that doesn't even work with bluetooth?
wat
as in it works with their proprietary bs and not normal or just no connecting wireless headsets to it at all?
ah bingo
gotta get their proprietary bs
Feels like people forget the remote play app was a thing for PS4 for like 10 years now
Them making a handheld out of it isn't that mindblowing
goes back to the ps3 days for remote play with the psp
but the selection was limited at that time
Which is funny cause the Portal is just literally a shitty phone that does none of the phone features just with a shitty app that, btw, scores incredibly low on all storefronts lol
People always complained about it being ass
Somehow Portal releases and it's good now
how is it good now???
According to PS fans it is
And journos
But being praised by journos is like the lowest type of praise you can get
Game journalists are creaming themselves over it for no reason
what??
guess im glad that i watch the right ones that arent doing that lel
Dude on Reddit showed already how Deck with Chiaki works so much better than Portal
PS fanboys are saying it's not the same, because it Portal has bigger screen (8" vs 7.4") and muh adaptive triggers
id like the adaptive triggers on my deck to be fair
When you say them they can connect DualSense to Deck and "advanced haptics" will work just fine, they say it's unusable
I'd love for Deck to have adaptive triggers too, but done well, and not in a half-assed way it's done by Sony
I have my Deck in case at all times, and it does have a kickstand, so that's not that big of an issue for me
So, normal pricing for a controller?
i remember back in the day when u could buy a 2 pack for that price 💀
Deck doesn't have a stand, Switch doesn't have a case, you will buy accessories for console anyways, like SD card and such
I remember when controllers were as cheap as games, and games were half the price they are at now 😄
But corpos say they don't earn enough money anymore
Also wasn't that literally a myth?
Games were like 80$-90$ back in the day
Think I've seen some for 110$
If anything nowadays we have more standardized pricing lol
?
i mean there were bundles every once in a while but games were $60 for the longest time
AAA games were around 30-40 bux here, i dont think anyone spent that much on a single game back in the day, maybe if it was a special edition for example: steelbooks were pretty popular
Found one image
I remember some others with even higher prices which I hope were in USD
Prices back then from what I gather were random
Some cheaper, some extraordinarily high
thats a looooooong time ago
Same with me and case with stand for Deck, just grabbed one for like €10
from 2010? to 2022 it was a solid $60 for the aaa
n64 and playstation era was just getting started, wasnt the msrp for those consoles like 300 bux?? man imagine what u couldve bought with that money in the 90s
Not too sure at which point games started being on CD-ROMs
They were a thing by 2006
dreamcast and ps2
Since around PS1 I guess
Mid 90s? A bit early
ps1 had cd roms but also not many people owned a playstation afaik
Yeah, they became popular at 2000-2002 or thereabouts
Over 100 million units sold so... it very much did sell
yeah but they also stopped the production in 2006, and the psx was way cheaper than the ps2 or gamecube
🤷 10 million units is 10 million units
and the quest(s) are game consoles except for the failure of the pro
Not actually that niche
Quest 2 sold about similar amount of units to Series S and Series X, 20 million
I guess problem is, is that VR is kinda dying off
Any hype on the tech in gaming is kinda gone
wtf sony
this is a black friday sale???
1.2k for 256GB??
thats more than the 512gb s23u
yeah its not really ready, not a lot of games are made for vr and u need a beefy pc to push the resolution to make it more immersive
tbf the only game i play on vr is beat saber and i didnt go with high expectations into vr lol
the amount of pixels you need to make something look realistic is incredible
people say the xr3/vr3 is realistic in its sweet spot, thats 70 ppd
to hit the 110 degrees of the index's 108 degree fov, thats just about 8k per eye
I think it's ready just fine, just that people don't care for it lol
Anyone on 14th gen (14700k)? I would like to know what is the All core P core Frequency. ty
Sorry for your loss
there is 1 game that is reasonably aaa in vr
at least on pc
some people swear by forbidden west but ew
Come to think of it only games I'd want to play on VR are Beat Saber and HL: Alyx
Other than that it reminds me of all those "metaverses"
I have a confession to make... i didnt finish alyx because i was too scared
there are excellent experiences in vr outside of those two
i cannot recommend google earth enough, especially with all the "comfort features" turned off
I didn't even start Alyx because no VR
and if you have an iron stomach, boneworks and bonelab are both excellent experiences
Oh yeah, Boneworks seemed cool too, especially with your physical presence in VR world
yep totally can recommend boneworks
ill try again in a few years
10 minutes was enough for me to get me dizzy and almost throw up xD
And it gave birth to a spawn called CD-i
that is the closest nintendo got to something that people actually used
wrong one
cdi, thats phillips\
PS1 from the Sony side, Nintendo worked with Phillips too and released some games on CD-i
there was a sharp version as well
nope
philps just had licenses
for the cd-i
Nintendo allowed them to use their ips
the games were not made by nintendo
i didnt hear that name in so long, does sharp still exist?

I think so yes
Sharp is very much still a thing
If Nintendo actually made the games for the cd-I they wouldnt have been so comically bad
I think this wins for me
for weird nintendo stuff that people actually used
though satellaview is a close second
A postbox disc writer?
yes
Ah well it's Japan, Japan is mega weird
Is there a difference
disc is specifically just cds?
I think
or well, used to be
the only floppy disk(s) i own is a copy of windows 95
can't wait to install gta 6 with 137 floppy disks
Nowadays they could have a lot of storage though
Yeah I think zip discs ended at CD size thereabouts?
As far as I understand they were somewhat mechanical HDD like, just replace the whole thing with flash storage lel
than isnt that just a..... sd card? lol
Tbf yeah SD card is just a better floppy lol

Not too sure why smartphone manufacturers are trying to obsolete SDs
Well, greed and upselling aside
because UFS is a lot faster
Okay, and?
You get far more storage with SD
It fuckin blows my mind you can have 128TB's of storage in this little piece of shit
How the fuck is that possible

I bet it costs like 15-20 grand though for one
SD express uses pcie lanes tho
That is the theoretical file system limit, not card physical capacity.
Standard allows for 128TB
The most we have now are 1.5TB, with 2TB in tests
You can chuck a 16TB drive into the first Xbox. Doesn't mean it is sensible.
so they kinda suck for OSes
it's the same debate as hdd vs ssd a few years ago
if only samsung would start selling UFS devices or cards... thats the problem about proprietary stuff lol
well i would say it almost is. the only downside is you need a few partitions
The Xbox uses partitions by design. But I think you can have all of the main space on a single partition now?
You need an appropriate BIOS and tweaked apps to understand it all though
ye otherwise its 1tb or 2tb max i think
Yeah the old limits.
I just touched my desk and had a static
Why did my whole keyboard blinked for once
when it discharged?
Random question but, is the Sabrent Rocket Q4 2230 2tb a good ssd for my steamdeck and ROG Ally?
the keyboard is on rubber feet
no idea tbh
Should be fine but I’d probably look for a non QLC ssd
Non QLC?
No
TLC is the other one
There's SLC, MLC, TLC, QLC...
Shouldn't QLC be better though since it stores 4 bits per cell rather than less?
Yeah the Q4 is the qlc model iirc so finding a tlc ssd would be a bit better
No ideally you want less per cell
For Deck look for SSD which doesn't consume a lot of power, that's why Sabrent Rocket 2230 is universally acclaimed for Deck
Hmm
If I opt for less storage it becomes TLC and whatnot
Like 1tb or 512gb
It has nothing in common with storage
Just how much bits are stored per cell
Ah right they need the smaller sizes hmm yeah not sure if those have tlc 2tb
If there are no other options it’s fine it’s not like it’ll break in a month and I guess for handhelds the lower performance wont matter as for games it’s basically the same still
I mean, only thing I can find that has similar performance is the Corsair MP600 Core Mini and the WD SN770M.
Although all three of them are basically the same because they use the same NAND Flash controllers.
Yeah for short things the benchmark is basically just testing the cache instead of the actual nand lol
It is fine and they are cheaper I just prefer to have a longer lifespan but if they can’t squeeze it on there you don’t have a choice
I guess
