yup
less burst speed doesn't sound good for that
?
!
ye why would they maybe reduce that
current rumor is 33fps continuous wdym reduce?
what the a7s3 will still ahve over the a9 3 is iso performance
global shutter is slower in terms of iso performance not in terms of readout speed
the article is just saying that global shutter may reduce burst speeds
that would surprise me greatly
who even does global shutter other then red
not on the 35 atleast
i mean you can just improve your readout speeds
thats much easier on global shutter than rolling
sony does know how tho
Sam Altman: "We hope that you'll come back next year. What we launch today is going to look very quaint relative to what we're busy creating for you now."
š 360
Yep
They have an "AGI" in labs
2027 launch for that, before that a new model in 2025 I guess
oh wow holy smokes, global shutter vs rolling is now pretty close at slower speeds
https://www.phantomhighspeed.com/products/cameras/4kmedia/flex4k
https://www.phantomhighspeed.com/products/cameras/4kmedia/flex4kgs
https://www.phantomhighspeed.com/products/cameras/tmx/7510
if you want higher speeds tho the only options are global
but thats less than 7 bits of DR in color
š¬
on the same sensor rolling shutter gets a claimed 12 stops where global gets a claimed 9
thats effectively the difference between a max iso of 512k vs 2 million
actually wow thats still pretty great
that would be for the same tech as the a7s3 converted straight over, and there has been alot of new tech since
actually wait a sec, using dual layer transistor BSI, you should be able to put the global shutter circuitry behind the pixel instead of sacrificing sensor area to use that
sweet'
CLIN: A Continually Learning Language Agent for Rapid Task Adaptation and Generalization
Yay, more agents
this is a more modern setup but yea, should be able to move all that wiring bs under the photon detection area
any audiophiles can recommend me a entry level dap/amp for 6xx or meze99
pretty pls
Entry level?
At budget you can't really get much good in combo, people buy dedicated units
Usually Topping, though Schiit and JDS are good
There's this I guess
š
Also try for Ebay, might be able to get something used but working great
Lol Mediatek 9300 gets fucked by A17Pro
Tiny bit better multicore but far worse singlecore
Funny af
Save the money for harder to drive cans, cx31993/apple dong can drive 6xx and mezze 99 no problem
Lets be real, it doesn't have a filter because Elon couldn't afford the development time to add one
Apparently this model only has a year of development time or something?
Or was it only a year of training
Apparently a bit of an unpolished model that somehow can compete with Llama
Even if my phone/pc has audio jacks?
id still recommend the cx/apple but only if you notice any issues with your audio
often your graphics card will inject noise into the audio jack, and the cx and apple dong can filter it out
I wouldn't buy an USB-C dongle but do whatever you want
If you plan to take the hobby seriously with some heavier to run stuff which tbf aren't even that expensive
Get proper gear
key part being "heavier to run stuff"
do not buy a full size amp if all you are driving are sennheiser or mezze
Something like Hifiman's HE6SE is pretty damn great, cheap nowadays, but hard to run
maybe tube for 6xx
define good
theres an option for basically every price
its very very often a better idea to focus on better outputs
Lets say i double my budget would that be good enough?
Or is it better to save up to 300
again name a budget and you can buy a decent set
$10? sure
$10,000? ez
but you will get more value from $100 in the headphones than $1000 in the amp/dac
Lets say 200 dollars
200$ is enough
JDS amp dac stack for 200$
Will run anything
they are nice, id prefer editionxs and even cx dongle over 6xx and atom stack even tho the xs needs slightly more power than the cx can provide
Basic shit
something like the edition xs + any of the dual cx43131 dongles would be my recommendation for a total of $400 us
Iām not sure if this is true or not
moondrop dawn pro is the most popular dual cx43131 dongle
nvidia is kinda hurting it's own brand with that by having the laptop gpus share the name of stronger desktop gpus kek
Yeah, no
That doesn't seem real
The dawn pro is nice
Cheapest way to get into balanced stuff that I know of
Yeah I donāt believe it just yet
oh it is true its just not the desktop gpus so the naming is misleading+ power constraint
Yeah they should specify that it is a laptop chip
I mean that's on nvidia
Yep
What's the difference in price between the two?
Didnāt they call it mobile before? I canāt seem to find any 4080m for example
I mean the m3 pro vs alienware?
yeah older ones were called mobile but not consistent
Same price about lol
Aha
M3 max is a fuck ton more
nvidia for 2 generations, matched the desktop and laptop chips
and the lower power variants had an M suffix (980 vs 980M)
was very sad on 20 series š¦
At that point compare vs 4090 mobile

Decided to lookup Balders gate's performance and
"the game is more cpu intensive than graphics intensive"
If this is the case then comparing gpu performance wouldn't work well as the cpu is bottlenecking in both cases?
depends, hard to tell what parts and settings they used
but yeah obviously not the norm even if you just look at the powerbudget
like assume it has the same gpu ppc it has less thermal headroom
I wouldn't be surprised if they ean it on low settings to force the gpu to bottleneck to exaggerate the M3's gou performance.
There is apparently a 1080p benchmark too
But Iāll wait for more reviews before I draw any conclusions
also keep in mind baldurs gate runs very well in general, its not too intenstive of a game on either cpu or gpu regardless of if it is bound or not
impressive, especially considering that they're about the same pricewise, if not a bit cheaper than the windows laptops
Apple computers are more expensive here than in the us to my knowledge, so that MacBook in the benchmark will be a minimum of 7000 usd, the Alienware I assume is 4000 usd
Apple making Alienware seem cheap... Wtf
Yea
probably living in a country that doesn't get apple laptops direct
those countries get hit with absurd prices
So does Ireland with all tech products sold here having 23% added to the price
that's called taxes, numbnuts
Plus additional extra for that store profits
normal enough
stores need to keep the lights on
Import fees yes
and idiots stocking the shelves
on top of VAT?
Yes
tbh, considering people will buy tech regardless, quick and dirty way to collect tax dollars
Iām in Norway. There is no official Apple Store but we do have authorized resellers. For whats itās worth, Sweden does have an official Apple Store and MacBooks cost about the same there.
Fyi we do have the Apple online store, just no physical stores
well yeah if you buy outside the eu ireland adds import tax, you dont pay customs duty when from withing the eu we had that multiple times
There are a few Apple authorized resellers in Ireland too
Maybe they have them cheaper? Idk
Even if a store isn't Apple authorized
They still sell Apple products so yeah xd
so it must be whacky regional pricing
Along with import duties, vat and our currency being down yea
here, a 14" with M3 max (40 GPU) is a cool 4674ā¬
I see
I remember couple years ago they really increased the price for all computers. Before that they were decently priced
thing is
shockingly well priced tbh
base level pro (that doesn't come with base M3) is only 2600ā¬
tax included
a little more pricy than previous gens, BUT inflation has been a lot since then
(by a little, I mean 600ā¬)
Ah itās the same price here, 2530 to be exact
inflation was big the year before/of its release not as much since then lol
yo in the nineties top of the line computers would cost tens of thousands
honestly, I'm super happy with my M1 Pro macbook
cost me 2500 CAD
and...it'll probably be my daily driver till my applecare+ expires
Yea itās a pretty nice laptop. I got to try the m2 pro for a while and it was a nice experience
and once that happens
I'll just get another
Though Iām not too fond of the storage and memory prices. The base laptop I guess is acceptable
for what I use it for, the base amount of storage is more than enough
ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Fair
Do we have to restart the conversation again
I mainly have issues with bad usability, truncating useful features for no reason, ever increasing bloat and Microsoft's bad decisions the past few years
That and I don't like how it looks or functions
Hey guys! Do the LE45s come lubed already?
yes, factory lubed
Apparently Windows 12 is in development. I am hoping it's a good step above 11
it's not
Sorry Iām dumb with this stuff haha so does that mean I donāt have to buy the lube and do it myself?
you can, hand lubing is nicer, but it's not necessary, you will have great time ootb
le60 are also factory lubed.
is the LE60 the one thatās already on the default board ?
Yes.
LE60s are default on 2HE and 60HE, 45s on UwU
Cool so the board comes lubed already
Iām going to buy the LE45 do you guys recommend that I still lube it myself or can I just use it, idc about sound I just want a smooth feel
they are both factory lubed
it's a decent job too
i can definitely tell vs a hand lubed one but it's not really that much better
it's rumored to be ai driven, just the concept is already plagued.
They wanted to swap Menu Start with Copilot AI Menu iirc
thatās very nice that itās factory lubed.. I donāt think the apex pro tkl I got was at all
or the ducky I had before that
probably not
Do you guys think a wrist rest is good with this keyboard ?
Depends, some people like wrist rest, some not really, I just can't use them though
I use one for longer gaming sessions, don't find it as nescessary just for typing
am not using a wooting wristrest for my 60HE, only got the fullsize one
Okay! Is there a specific brand for nicer feeling key caps for gaming or are the stock good enoug?
stock are fine unless you're after a particular look for the keyboard
Basing an entire generation of Windows off of a meme gimmick
https://youtu.be/1vuHTFHDybI
I donāt think I really care about looks atm.. I felt like when I had the apex pro, I switched to the hyperx keycaps and those felt a lot better, more grip
There are ceramic ones that are terrible for gaming, but sound real nice

Razer keycaps are really cheap and have a nice grippy texture
Ooh thatās cool! Iām def looking more into caps meant for gaming š
why do you need a grippy texture tho
I don't
most brands of keycaps will do fine if you're not that picky about the perfect look
Some may want to
I think it's meant to prevent you slipping and hitting two keys
if thats the case may as well save some money and stick with the stock ones
what are you doing if you slip on your keycaps
like how do you arrive at that situation
To be honest, even with old ABS shiny keycaps you'd have to eat Cheetos and play at once to make slip
The ceramic caps are smooth, and quite slippery, especially when it get sweaty
better off with griptape if you need that much grip
I mean preferring a texture is fine
but people pretend like it is actually a hindrance
I got a set of those textured wasd keys, does the job I guess but don't know if they actually improve finger grip vs my regular keycaps
For most people it don't matter, much. But for a L33T gamer, even making a silly mistake once in a bluemoon due to equipment failing you is unacceptable
more like its easier to tell when your fingers are on them
if you get to the point that you slip on your keycap you have a bigger issue
why
wdym "why"
if you play some time your hand will get sweaty
"oh yea I wear a big sweater all the time in case I fall down"
The bigger issue: Valorant addiction
I cry everytime
like how do you arrive at the situation where you slip on your keycap so much you do a misinput
without it having any other bigger issue
is slipping really the issue
like to the point that you do a missinput
just having more grip is nice
that is kinda my point
like if you get to the point where you have a misinput something has to go very wrong lol
Clumsiness, I don't know man I have a ceramic keycaps and havn't used super grippy keycaps in a while. Let alone studied this
Like just in theory you would have less misinputs from your finger sliding off a key during a quick maneuverer
what is a ālow profileā case .. is it a case where your wrist wonāt be angles higher to reach the keys because the keyboard isnāt as tall in length ?
I feel like that would be good for your wrist ?
the angle you're thinking of is typing angle
sure fingers can get sweaty and a bit slippery on occasion, wouldn't say its been that big an issue though
Ya I think Iām lost hahaha
Okay so a low profile case doesnāt mean itās ergonomic?

Saw the wooting in half to get a split keyboard š¤¤
Iām sorry Iām still just lost at what low profile is compared to just the normal wooting keyboard haha
So with this, wouldnāt your wrist be less bent when gaming ?
It will not be.
The only good thing 12 can actually achieve is proper ARM arch support
It seems Windows might actually properly support ARM with 12
yeah imo stock case is pretty sleek and even tho its 6 degrees angle it doesn't feel that angled at all
Other than that they won't do shit towards making 12 usable
is fine even with this wristrest which is a little lower than the wooting one
Have you ever owned an apex pro.. Does it feel angles like that at all?
I have not

Apple can do ARM, because their set of dev tools is made to spec
Linux can do ARM, because most of the stuff is open-source and easily portable
Windows is wild west compared to that
they do already
wdym
translation layer on 10 and 11 can also get updates lol
Well yes, but Microsoft is starting to work with companies to enable better optimizations for ARM and better performance it seems
Qualcomm is launching an ARM product specifically for Windows that isn't actually shit lol
AMD is planning to launch ARM products
Nvidia is reportedly investigating ARM CPUs
might give them an incentive to improve the translation layer
Wow ! Is the low profile on the left
Microsoft will kinda have to optimize Windows for ARM a lot more
imo the 60HE looks a lot more angled on pics than it actually feels to use irl
also looks kinda tall on pics
I think getting native programs for arm will be challenging. Market share would have to really increase for devs to port over imo
I feel like I gotta just wait and try it before I see.. I just have had tight forearm problems when it comes to bending my wrsits upwards for too long and wanna try out to see if a lower one would make a difference
Do you use low profile for your wooting?
It would be amazing though if we get efficient ARM products and there's no reason to use Macs anymore
what case is that
Ooh! Do you think the low profile is more comfortable?
one thing was for sure I never used the fold out legs for my two HE
way too steep angling
somehow I kinda liked that as a kid but can't stand it anymore
i thoughtbi wouldnt use the feetb but like them now
each day I am reminded of this now
Do you recommend any low profile bodies ? I got the 60Eh
make sure to at least try it stock first before you go burn more money
imo
will give you an idea of which direction to go with your replacement case at the very least
Thank you I will do that for sure whenever this keyboard comes haha
Sorry what hole are we talking about haha
Ooh okay so if I pick up any of those colors in that link you sent me I should be good to go?
I do like a sleek low profile design but not sure if I'd be entirely comfortable having the switches that exposed again
like my two HE p much
Also this prob a dumb question but the low profile/case wouldnāt mess with the rapid trigger or other quirks that come with the wooting ?
affects nothing like that
Ty!
the pcb and plate are screwed together and the magnet-sensor distance is determined by that
If I were to get a low profile case in the future would it be good to get DSA caps?
wait wtf
there is a gasket mount 60he
Specs:
Lekker switches lubed (205g0 stems/105 springs) and (diy) filmed
Poseidon 60 Gasket edition (KPrepublic)
Aluminum plate
TX stabilizer stem + Wooting plate mount stab housing/wire (XHT-BDZ)
Plate foam
1 Muji cotton sheet split into 4 equal sheets + 1 sheet perforated shelf liner
four upper and lower corner gaskets installed
PBTfans crossha...
do i ask questions with whats wrong with my wooting here
NVIDIA RTX 4070 Ti SUPER packaging design has been leaked The packaging design for this new SKU has been leaked by MegaSizeGPU. GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER box design template, Source: MEGAsizeGPU It seems like the āTI SUPERā model might come true very soon. MEGAsizeGPU has shared packaging design images that appear to confirm NVIDIAās [ā¦]
RTX 4080 SUPER honestly seems only good for making 4080 cheaper
4070 SUPER would be cool if it comes quite a bit cheaper as well, so far it seems very similar in specs to 4070Ti and far better than 4070
4070Ti is also pretty damn good looking, good specs on that card
So I guess this generation gets good only now?
I meant in what way does Linux suck.
I know Windows sucks
Oh Linux?
Well, it just sucks lol
I've used it for years for productivity and boy did I grow to dislike it
It's just far slower (in the amount of time it takes to complete a task), far less useful, than Windows
I've used it for 7 years and only like it more every day...
this is not true
That is true
can you give an example?
Installing apps?
Mate, was your last Linux version Ubuntu 12?
literally 1 command lmao
It takes like 10x longer than Windows
you're objectively speaking wrong
I had to bother for 5 HOURS to figure out why can't I install visual studio code on my linux machine
learning curve is still very steep for most linux distros if you want to do things outside daily desktop chores
Sounds like a usability issue
yes, but when you learn those things it's way faster and more usable than Windows
Windows is not made for power users, unlike some Linux desktops/WMs
That holds virtually no logical basis
It does
It's just you've already learned Windows over a long time you've used it
Vex what distro and DE were you using? just out of curiosity
was kinda hoping it would make some strides towards being more user friendly in the future, I figured back in 2008
Faster? If you are bothered to remember a million terminal commands and pray that the damn distro isn't going to hiccup
Usability is non existent with Linux, let's completely forget that
and from what I can tell very little has changed regarding that
It's unforgiving for a layman user
Nah, it's just Vex being Vex
Try to get old people to use Linux, let's see how user friendly it is
Bet you 1000$ you will get them to never use a PC again
my grandma is using Mint
she says it's way better than whatever she had before (W7)
Old people? I'd rather give them Mint or Debian than Windows, way safer
yea lmao
You people like Mint?
My parents use Mint with no issues for over a year
I grew to fuckin hate Mint after 4 years of usage
I mean, it can be okay if your nan got pretty basic computer needs
most people have very simple computer needs
for most, their OS is just a bootloader for Firefox
or Chrome to be more accurate
that's my issue with it though, you're either stuck with the basics as a new user or plunged into quite uncharted waters for anyone accustomed to mac or windows
Mine aren't, I need productivity apps and other shit, and I am not bothering where with Windows it's a one click install process, to install 5 different dependencies and translation layers to make something work
why are you trying to make Linux Windows? @cursive summit
it works fundementally different
Cause Windows is actually usable?
you want to run a semi-uncommon piece of hardware or run some specific software from windows and you might find yourself having to jump through some pretty serious hoops
I'm not bothering with this conversation, linux users are deluded as usual
lul
no offense seriously, but your skill issue is not other people's issue
or the OS's issue
Mate, you're still living 10 years ago tbh
Ask Torvalds to design a properly working OS
That doesn't require terminal and googling for commands and forums to make anything work
Terminal > shitty windowsforms GUI
windows core strength lies in that its not really the best at anything (apart from gaming maybe) but can typically do/run most anything on the market
And you talk productivity
typically without too many headaches on the way
but also comes with a lot of unnescessary luggage
whatever you choose its compromises in one way or another
are you serious btw?
with that comment
Nah, it's going to be funnier, given most of the old kernel Windows developers already retired from MS
also arent there a decent chunk of distros that are very light on command line usage and mostly everything just kinda works out of the box if you dont feel like messing about in the terminal
Mate just fell asleep 10 years ago and now trolling
On Ubuntu installing VSCode is one click now
you definitely don't need the terminal anymore if you just wanna use the computer for normal computer tasks
especially on distos like mint etc
Even Arch now has GUI panel with most system settings
it still has a place and always will but it's not some necessity to use the computer
that's not part of arch though, that's on the desktop environment you install
for me i do need the terminal to do basic stuff like installing programs
but thats less because linux is hard and moreso because im a sicko that uses arch and havent set up gui frontends for that stuff
but you can manage everything with a gui probably yeah
DE independent, just a simple program
i c
still has to be installed one way or another and probably through terminal seeing as gui package managers are eh on arch
True, even making Discover work with flatpak on Arch is a tall order
glares at manjaro's pamac messing up the aur multiple times
but on the commodity distros there's definitely little to no need for a terminal
yeah
manjaro is horrible
We don't speak of Manjaro
didn't they ddos arch repos multiple times
i dont use manjaro
well effectively ddos
thats what i meant
xd
idk how they managed that
also their holding pack packages for "stability" just breaks more stuff
its funny
they had pamac send a new request to the aur every time any character got typed or removed from the search box
amazing
instead of waiting for the user to stop typing for a bit
"Dynamic search"
why dont they just download the package database in one go and save it locally for dynamic search
but it can't be so big that a simple list of everything is too big to reasonably store
yeah
86k packages, pretty much nothing compared to bigger databases
effective visualisation
you fit more files in a given space
as you have a third dimension to play with
also 3d isnt a very effective visualization anyhow when it needs to be projected into 2d
if you stack files suddenly some of them become completely hidden by stuff in front of them
probably file browsers are 3d for computers in realities that have 4 spatial dimensions
Install app on Windows
- Open browser
- Type name of app
- dodge the scam / malware ridden sponsor links on Google
- find the real website for the app
- navigate the website to find the download button
- download the exe
- close the browser
- open file explorer
- navigate to where the exe downloaded
- double click exe
- click next
- make sure it's not trying to install other bloat alongside the app and uncheck the boxes if it does so
- click next
- click next
- click next
- wait for install
- close installer
Installing app on Linux
- open the app center
- type name of app
- click install
- wait a bit
- launch app
Kindly, don't ping me ever again
Lana woke up
I mean if you want to you can use the windows store
forgot "find the real download button"
but that is evil cause M$
True
i mean if you use adblock you only get shown the real download button
and you skip the "dodge malware ridden google ads" part
I didn't
also
Oh
why tf do you close the browser
but that shouldnt be a thing to begin with even if it can be negated by adblock
and manually open file explorer
wait what
you know wtf this is right?
Cause sometime clicking the exe in the browser download list doesn't open it for me
always does it for me
skill issue
Tbf
Last time I used windows
I just installed all the apps via winget commands
So nice
Same here, locating sometimes doesn't work on FF, on Chrome no problem tho
a downloaded file would always appear at the top
Wish winget had all the software I needed
Then I'd never need to download exes from online again
Vex is scared of terminal, that's why
meanwhile firefox users who get to choose exactly where a file downloads to:
i guess you can do that in chromium possibly? i just dont know how
scoop
Oh?
chocolatey is another alternative iirc
i don't like choco
idk i dont really use package managers on windows
I've used chocolatey before and it's not great

assumed as much that you could do that in chromium
You can do in every browser
ah fair
Idk about Safari
Never used it
not a thing on windows
safari is modern day internet explorer
for like 10 years now
What isn't?
it has weird ass implementation of web standards and lotsa vulns
i genuinely hate safari
safari
Yeh duh
I mean it used to be a thing on windows
Still, FF has an option to ask you where to download
But it forgets once you restart a browser and points onto Downloads folder again
even as someone who daily drives a mac as a 2nd computer alongside a linux/windows dual boot pc
and they claimed it was faster than any other browsers years after stopping support
firefox remembers default download folders per website
if you download from the same website by default itll point to where you saved a file last from said website
ofc you can pick a different one
That's even more stupid
but it does remember it per url not across the whole browser
Oh that's what's happening
I thought it was a thing with the gtk file dialog
Didn't know it was Firefox doing that
yeah it does the same on windows and mac
Ooohhh very cool
hey guys I just bought a 60he that was in stock but its after 3days now my order is still not on the way is that normalļ¼
(Not sure why this is asked in the tech channel but okay)
i personally find it kinda useful cause im obviously gonna be saving downloads from modrinth (minecraft mods) in a different place than like nexus mods (which i use for skyrim)
i mean i dont manually download mods much anymore
im sure theres similar for other games
i often download through prism launcher
fair
sometimes mod authors do a silly on curseforge though and block people from downloading outside of the official site or curseforge app
also modrinth is nicer for exploring and finding new mods
not as easy to explore for mods through prism
since you cant filter searches by category etc
i usually just find them on modrinth then search in prism
same
i wonder how garbage itd be without modrinth
wdym without modrinth
yeah it would suck
they do own curse, thats why gamepedia wikis like the minecraft wiki got eaten by fandom
now minecraft wiki is independent though and left fandom
i think the only modpack from curse I've played since modrinth had decent modpack support was divine journey 2
and that's because its only on curse ofc
ahh
They bought off Curse, snatched Wikias and sold them(Curse) in 2020 for pennies
MOBA Network via Magic Find I think, but it's swapping hands really quickly
bruh
wasnt it owned by overwolf at one point
the first time i used overwolf was when it snuck onto my system through a bundler
Oh, I'm sorry, they sold CurseForge to Overwolf and Curse Network (forum stuff) to Magic Find
yeah
uninstalled it fairly quick but it is actually a kinda cool app if you didnt get it shoved in your face from a bundler
I really do not like overwolf
idk its just a kinda neat idea of having the overlay like that
besides it being kinda garbage it's really annoying that it just gets forced on you
i still hate it though dont get me wrong
wish curseforge app was standalone instead of shoved into overwolf
didnt the ftb app also force you to use overwolf
luckily ftb has a Linux version
or at least they did
idk i just used the legacy ftb jar launcher
mmm
when i used ftb
i don't really play ftb stuff anymore either so i dunno now
last thing I played was uhhh
stoneblock 2
i think
ftb is part of curseforge now
bruh
They still do, for win, linux and macos, but it's build on top of curseforge
who the hell uses poly after all the devs left poly because of the maintainer being an ass
now all the devs that used to work on poly work on prism
Prism is PolyMC 2.0
yep
but ftb got angry at prism and stopped them from doing ftb i believe
so if you want ftb stuff you need to use their launcher but besides that it's just prism
Owner of project went apeshit about "reclaiming polymc from the leftoids" or something like that
idk why they are incapable of playing nice
if i cant install a modpack into prism instead of using nonsense bloatware its not worth my time
probably
especially when theres plenty of amazing non ftb modpacks out there now
there's also plenty of great ftb ones
yeah fair
dunno about the new stuff but theres some great older packs
i hear stoneblock 3 is pretty good now
I loved 2
the older packs were good but back around the time of those packs i was more of a technic/tekkit person
i see
https://github.com/PolyMC/PolyMC/commit/ccf282593dcdbe189c99b81b8bc90cb203aed3ee Something something commies and leftists
i played a lot of tekkit classic around then because my computer failed at running mc versions > 1.5 or something
tekkit classic was 1.2.5 i think lol
1.2.5 was actually my first ever version of minecraft
i think same honestly
i used to have the demo and then go and play 1.2 because for some reason it just gave you the full game
newer versions were definitely out but 1.2 is what i played first for whatever reason
Oh is this the story where this Lenny guy went apeshit and the actual dev team left?
i owned the full version legitimately when i played 1.2.5
The Poly team is now developing Prism
Yup, the same
Prism's pretty nice
i think i bought the game (on pc) around 1.5 or 1.6 but I'd been playing for years by then
yea it was uhh
Ā£20 something
when i got it
26.99 maybe?
idk my parents bought it for me
theres no way you didnt exist then
2010 was Alpha 1.2
cause im 21 currently actually maybe i just dont know my years
bruh
then yeah im not a sperm
if i report you it is possible
Looking at the network activity of a Tesla Model S. There were some interesting discoveries, especially when I got to the Wi-Fi part.
but like why would i do that
I started playing MC when PC Gamer released their demo with Beta 1.5 https://www.pcgamer.com/download-the-minecraft-demo/
yeah lol i was born in like 2002
minecraft just feels so old that i thought it existed before me
Blogspot and Netflix???
Young'un
i played that beta 1.5 demo so much for some reason
even though real 1.5 was probably out then
i used to have this obsession with playing the old beta versions
Beta 1.7 was the best Minecraft version
There was this funny .jar over the internet, where it installed some stuff to .minecraft and it removed time limit
you could just open another instance of the game
and do some stuff
and it'd load your world
but i remember doing something where my timer was like 9999
probably that jar
was that the first one with hunger?
Tesla infotainment display has a Netflix app
I forgot
i think it was the one before hunger
Something something minecrafter or something something minecraft in web browser
1.8 added hunger
yeh but not youtube or blogspot or chase xd
So it was 2 updates below
1.7 for pvp
Lol not sure why those are there
1.7 had I think 1.7.1 and maybe even 1.7.2 versions
1.7 was the best cause it had the first and only functional camera mod
1.7.10 exists
Also, millenaire was a thing at that point iirc, minecolonies, mount and blade, etc
We talking beta you pleb
1.7.3 was the most played by me, definitely
who cares about beta
Cause beta minecraft was the best minecraft
I genuinely enjoyed beta minecraft more than any other version of minecraft lol
The mods back then were amazing
a version needs optifine to be good
Still had to delete metainf though
ah a mod player
you just got too old when full release came out
Sodium > Optifine nowadays
^
Tf is sodium you whippersnappers
Stop talking zoomer lingo I'm too old for this shit
tbh im just using badlion now
Fabric mod loader replacement for Optifine
i hate going to older versions and then not having sodium and it's like
do i really have to use optifine
Sodium is basically mod loader and a new renderer, does wonders on older hardware
because it makes the game take about twice as long to start up and sometimes is straight up incompatible with other mods
Also there's Iris, which comes with Sodium and is a blessing when it comes to shaders
I thought older versions of forge (mc 1.12.2) were just slow but it turns out optifine increases startup time by a lot and I was always using it back then
modders should just remake mc from scratch at this point
Doesn't make much sense to do that
Hytale is "in development", so that's that
hytale is never coming out
i am also not serious
You mean development hell?
If even that
rewrite Minecraft in rust
Wouldn't be surprised if Hytale is just vaporware
i believe there's a server implementation in rust
can that handle high render distance and all
Oh, Feather! I didn't knew it was in Rust lol
ye
Yup, still in early stages unfortunately
Also what you are currently discussing technically #š®āgame
Return to monke, return to tech in #šātech
On a related note, and tech related - which server implementation is now version "to go"? PaperMC?
yeah well moving a conversation to another channel barely ever works
usually its paper
paper/purpur if vanilla/plugin
oh huh purpur is the plugin version of it
no it's just a fork with more stuff
oh
i think they both change some vanilla mechanics ever so slightly so if you are a technical player then a fabric server with lithium etc is probably the way to go
Vanilla, I want to make some simple server for me and my friends to play on weekends, given I finally made Proxmox work
yeah paper is more than enough if you just want a good performing world to play with some friends
you could probably get away with the vanilla server but why would you when paper exists
my camera driver keeps shitting the bed for some reason
I can uninstall it and reboot
windows gets a functioning driver again
but then it breaks after like 2 hours again
fun
Yup, imma just slap papermc with debian in lxc, give it 3 cores and 8gb of ram, should be plenty
theres a gh repo withthe "best" jvm args to use and stuff
if you want that
i can find it quickly
probably less important on a small player count but you may want it anyway
and yeah it's probably enough though I'd also recommend you pregenerate the world with chunky or something if you know people are gonna be doing a lot of exploring
chunk generation can be taxing on performance
Not really, there will like 4 of us, and we are more of a building kind than exploring, still pregeneration would be nice, thanks for reminding me
yeah
you don't need to do a massive radius as you'd just waste disk space
but maybe just do a decent area in each dimension so there's no lag when someone first goes to the nether or the end
Sounds like a you problem, in the sense that the connection between PC and keyboard isn't there.
What browser?
What exactly is or isn't happening? It doesn't appear in the find devices popup, or you get a red error in the top right?
I resetted the page data, then trying to initalize the keyboard it shows Unknown Device
wait 1 sec
nvm fixed it by replugging
it happened after the latest firmware
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UAES7F48EUhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UAES7F48EU
i should just upgrade the cpu :/
I have upgraded CPU in my server lately
To 4590T, but still
Im trying to work out this pricing....
15 a month for 48 months
But 52 a month for the first 12 months?
when did fast forwarding ads become a feature
idk
piHole should work still, no?
we dont have wifi in this house so pihole isnt an option
mom has her phone when im not at home with only 10GB data a month
well at least from what im familiar with for on demand tv
Sky Glass relies on WIFI, so this may not be an option for us
what would be an asshole move is if Sky blocked fast forwarding ads on your DVR
but its much cheaper than what she pays for now :/
Doesn't matter if WiFi or on cable, piHole works on the whole network
yes i know but im unsure if the ads come from a seperate domain or even a different video stream
Here VODs keep ads on a different server, so it works
oo thats good xd until they figure it out and keep them on the same server
advertisers: nobody's watching our ads so let's shove them even more aggressively in peoples faces!
advertisers: wait why are even less people watching our ads?
Exactly
My guess is that you get Sky Entertainment & Netflix for ā¬27/mo and you pay ā¬15/30 for Sky Glass on top of that, then you can add ā¬6/mo for "fast forwarding ads"
Yeah, I guess so
Is 755 Euro for a 43 4K UHD Quantum Dot TV a good price? As a TV on its own, that doesnt seem that bad right?
though idk if its a Smart TV without a Sky Subscription
I guess it still is, but without it you're left with YouTube at most if Sky has custom OS there
Yeah, they have Entertainment OS there, whatever it is
Yeah, Sky always have their own OS on their stuff
We currently have a SkyQ box and the OS is custom
All of the UI is some shade of blue .-.
even the highlight color to show you what element is selected.. so hard to see a slightly darker blue on a light blue background, I hate it
also wait why the hell do they want to sell people an overkill tv
cant they just sell a stick or a box with the OS on it
They wanna sell their Sky Broadband packages to go with the Sky Glass, Id assume
yeah, thats what they did until Sky Glass came along
still though i wouldnt trust my cable provider to own my tv and be able to render it inoperable if i switch from their service
even for something basic like using an external hdmi device
At least with the box we have, it doesnt matter what TV we plug it into xd
our tv is from 2009 .-.
plasma flat screen, pure vintage LOL
bezel is like 4 inches around the sides
its not high res but the colors are very very good
again though your cable provider forcing you to use their tv model and being able to switch it off whenever they want sounds straight up dystopian
yep.....
that basically describes modern gaming too though :/
you buy a digital game that the devs can kill at any time they like
even if its an offline game
Sky Telescreen⢠
cause offline games still need an account
ALSO, Sky are making a Xbox Kinect clone for their Glass TV :')
so yep telescreens
its a motion sensor like Kinect you can play games and do video calls with
and it looks like a kinect too....
thanks for making the "we control your tv" thing sound even more dystopian
and you cant even use it with a PC like the actual kinect
and theres some cool stuff you can do with a kinect and a computer
LOL workout using it
isnt that literally how 1984 cold opens
ok, this one might actually be pretty useful for families not living together
unless they also need SkyLive, then not as useful
they likely also need it
has a hardware killswitch for the camera and mic, HAH...take notes Kinect
i just unplug my kinect if im not using it with my pc
People watch live TV anymore?
You cant disconnect the Kinect from the Xbox One it came with, the consolle wont boot without it
its at least cheaper than a gazillion streaming services just to watch what you want
That's hilarious.
Sure. But it also forces you to watch something at a set time.
I'd never watch anything I actually want if we were still using flow TV here.
fair enough but most live tv subscriptions come with on demand now
That's nice. Slowly adapting to the times.
I do agree though - Streaming has become to expensive, if you actually start adding up the costs of needing 3-4 (or more if you add in music, books and other media) to it.
It's become popular to include some of these with phone plans here.
but the other users on the call probably need skylive as well period
how else would you convince people to install a live camera into their cable box setup other than peer pressure
same tactic apple uses with iMessage and FaceTime to get people into their ecosystem
yeh aha

What
I'm first to post here?
Ah, just posted a screenshot
Well here's more details
What's rather interesting tho is no speedup for video
whats max rn
i guess 4k 120 should be enough
nah
a7siii does 4k60 for longer then the battery lasts in summer
and that was 3 years ago
they should know how to handle the thermals
still 2h
and more
if it doesnt start having heat issues after 2h
will it ever have them
the a7s3 also does 4k120 with a very minor crop
which camera
yea the fancier you go the longer they run
r5 release moment hehe
well the r5 does 4k30 for quite a while?
oh yea it has 4k120 as well
line skipped just like the a93 š¦
yea but only in the max modes
yea tbh tho if you arent shooting at night and you arent a pro, your phone can do it
and if you have a cam2api android, even a pro can
flights tho
?
gotta need a second phone
oh if you want to play on your phone while still recording?
ye
and battery could also be a problem
dont think you can record to an ssd and use a powerbank at the same time
nah even apple can do that now
how?
magsafe powerbank & ssd through the usb c
usb hub fam
or hub yeah haha
that unfortunately doesnt work since itll overheat the phone
hm yeah
i also learned yesterday that mcpro24fps can record open gate on my phone too
and it can record straight to h265
they can do that?
if it works on a laptop, it can work on a phone
the rog phone doesnt even need a hub, it can just plug both in
cool cool
yea still sad about nothing faster than 120fps at 4k on the a9iii for video
a7s4 should be coming soon tho, so we shall see
requires a 24 megapixel 3:2 sensor for 16:9 6k pretty much
actually slightly more for true 6k, 25.2 megapixel 3:2 needed
actually wow, full frame has outright caught up with MFT
https://www.dpreview.com/products/panasonic/slrs/panasonic_dcg9ii/specifications
the only advantage of the g9 ii is it has non down sampled recording available
a9 ii announced october 2019
a7s iii announced june 2020
we may be less than half a year away from the new a7s4!
Another fun fact is that Sony phones can record 4k120 as well
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qn-IXZFEcOo
oh the pre recording is biig
Sony just launched the amazing a9 III!! The first camera in this class with a true global shutter that unlocks 120 FPS RAW and a max shutter of 1/80,000!!! We just got our hands on it for the first time and wanted to share the specs with you in this terribly produced video. We'll do more testing and produce something better this afternoon.
but it cant record 4k120 so its not better
dont need that much slowmo
š
hfr best fr
good video is 24 or 30 fps
better video is 60fps
dont think that will ever change
and best video is higher
60 doesn't look "cinematic" anymore
kinda depends on context
thats the fault of the DP
i have and its fantastic
avatar?
low end?
people who dont understand the reasons for the rules, and just follow them
if you do 180 shutter angle for HFR, its gonna suck
has there been any actual movies that's seen releases in 60fps natively
some scenes are at 48
but mostly to make it better in 3d
not really necessary for the 2d experience
and it should only be used in some scenarios
thats what cameron says
movies arent nescessary in general
and the reason cameron doesnt like it is bc hes not used to it
the disadvantage of doing what you arent used to is huge when you are at the high level
thats a fixable problem
look at spiderman or cuphead where they fix animations at lower framerates to get a certain look
there are ways to adjust for things
^
how would u fix that
not using 180 to add more blur?
i suspect soon we will have cine sensors record at 96 or 192 fps, and simulate 720 degree shutter for example to simulate 24 fps blur at higher framerates
except every single person in the vfx pipeline
hasn't it always been shot at like twice the fps that it actually ends up being released in
no
the image is only recording half of the time, but the other half of the time its just doing nothing
didnt have that in film, and they are just carrying on the tradition
and movies are all 24p
regardless of market generally
wan't vhs/consoles 30fps in the NA market
correct
and the movies are still 24 fps
even though the tv plays back at 30
yes it causes problems
that could solve the vfx problems tho
just leaving out very 2nd frame in the end
depends
each frame would be equally blurred
tbh am a bit surprised they don't but is probably migraine and a half to edit down on analog film
without some digital interpolation thing you'd probably have to do it by hand every other frame
which would be totally unfeasible
for analog film they just kept increasing the fps until most people stopped getting severe headaches, added an extra 4 fps buffer
now we love it
cause each extra fps is literal money
speak for yourself
rendering vfx at higher fps also takes more time which is money
other way around toasty
you record at higher framerate, then you track at high framerate,
then once the footage is perfectly tracked, you do your vfx at normal framerate
i thought the normal framerate is your problem
so i meant if they would want to release everything at like 48
it would take longer
(in rendering)
meh computers are well over 2x as fast as they were years ago
have u experimented it with it yourself?
I'm fine with higher fps video for literally everything but movies
but that's also a lot of habit speaking
with shooting higher framerate and using different angle / shutter speed
millions of times faster than they were 40 years ago for the early vfx
absolutely
Can u share anything?
unfortunately everything that isnt a wall is pii
also my camera only can shoot at 4k60, so im mostly doing timelapse stuffs
This is getting annoying, why sometimes we are taking RGT and MLID seriously, and other times not lol
MLID shows some easily fabricated slides, that's real, but this is not
define fps
just watch ancient interlaced ntsc content š¤£
topaz does a fantastic job of field reconstruction
what do you mean sometimes, RGT has not had anything new since Zen2 infinity fabric
And mlid did?
whenever it was correct it was something someone else already did so rgt is either wrong or just posting something that was already out there
Last I remember MLID was claiming that Radeon 7000 will be insane or someshit like that
We know how that turned out
yeah like everyone who had pre final tapeout numbers
mostly i experiment with 720 degree shutter for the insane night vision
u on the a7iv or?
yep
