But for example they have been using dedicated serdes units for the past 25 years
And their modern FPGAs are mostly lut based with gate arrays between the luts
And inside of the LUTs they have special arithmetic processing units
The reason that xilinx has gone so far ahead of altera is that altera has been focusing on making good FPGAs where xilinx has gone to make good accelerators that incorporate features from FPGAs
yes but its still fpga
If you want to use that definition of FPGA then sure you can be wrong if you like...
The thing is nowadays it's mostly done using level 3 switching
Which is mostly done via Broadcom off the shelf switches or with custom Asics like juniper and Cisco
Which have an x86 CPU for the routing features that can't be done via level 3 switching
Or in the case of Cisco a custom ISA CPU that's not x86 but is a CPU
And Broadcom uses arm but that's internal to the switch chips
World first mice can change between symmetric shape to ergonomic shape, with adjustable sensor position, hot swap switch structure, full transparent mice body.
@vivid vine

That shit looks kinda crazy
That shit looks kinda shit
Very
Someone just needs to make a hydroformed titanium mouse and just kill all this lightweight shit.
Hydroform super thin for the shape and weight
Then shot peen for stippling grip
Watch live as our mega Moon rocket launches an uncrewed Orion spacecraft on a six-week mission around the Moon and back to Earth. NASA is targeting Wednesday, Nov. 16, for the launch of the Artemis I Moon mission during a two-hour launch window that opens at 1:04 a.m. EST (0604 UTC). During #Artemis I, Orion will lift off aboard the Space Launch...
Is it actually lighter than carbon fiber?
Iso strength ofc
It could be thinner
whats the need?
idgaf about how thin it is as long as its light and has the right shape
carbon fiber works great tho its spensive, its definetly cheaper than hydroformed titanium lmao
its also relatively thin
More like cf can only be so thin
yes but you need either thickness or structure to get the titanium to be strong enough
structure compromises shape which is the main goal, so your only option is also thickness
The titanium would work harden as soon as you hydroform it
So it's pretty amazing how thin you can get it and still be strong
im aware of how titanium is made strong
but titanium is what 2.5x the density of cf?
Yes but cf's strength to weight ratio is lower
Titanium has a great strength to volume ratio
are you sure?
and i mean without hollow structures like they use in airplanes
i know that using birdbone structures like in planes you can get alot higher strength to weight ratios, but that isnt feasible in a mouse
It's why you use titanium inserts in CF for mounts. It the mount would have to too large in CF.
Because the stress is localized
The CF structure can easily take the load over large area, but you'd need a giant fastener. This kills any weight savings
You use Ti for the insert to distribute the force over a larger area, because it's strength to volume is much larger.
It's the same with steel vs aluminum
An aluminum part has to be larger than steel part for the same strength, but can still be lighter
You can make a connecting rod and piston in a race engine out of aluminum because there is room for the extra volume without fundamentally changing the working dimensions.
But things like the crank and wrist pins stay steel because of size constraints
And aluminum crank shaft would have bearing journals so large you'd loose all the weight savings making the rods bigger
But anyway
It would be cool to have a hydroformed titanium mouse, it would be extremely hard to beat the weight.
that just means the titanium is stronger by volume, not by weight...
i need some sauce
Yes and make thin cf parts is hard.
Making thin Ti parts is easy if you can hydroform it
yes but cf is significantly more rigid then any metal of the same geometry
TI and stainless both hydroform easily
also this is highly untrue
cf comes by default as super thin sheets
what
Which means the molds don't last long if the geometry is complex
since when?
How do you think mass produced CF parts are made?
by layering?
well i know there are multiple types of cf parts
but im talking about tiny parts like mice
Yes you layer the bare cf
directly into the mold
Production level CF is heat cure epoxies in a press
its an extremely labor intensive process but you can process it a sheet at a time so its worth for smaller parts
Wet laying and vacuum curing takes ages.
And isn't very accurate
So you'd have to finish machine the parts
mold is not equal to press
Which is why you heat press
Forms the parts exactly in one op
It's how cf sheets/rods/tubes are made. As well as anything mass produced.
But you need hardens steel molds
Hydroforming can be done with steel back plastic molds.
๐คท zaunkoenig disagrees
Who?
the makers of the lightest mice
And how much is a hand layed cf mouse?
couple thousand less than me making a hydroformed one would be
Lol
Commercial hydroformed titanium parts are done with FDM printer plastic molds
It's not that much
still costs alot to order the parts
Go look on Alibaba
yea i dont have the room to store the equipment
im talking about ordering it from a fabrication firm
I'm not taking equipment
I'm talking ordering the shell
I bet $10 a unit in 1000 quantity
yea but $1000 for a single part lel
Nah samples aren't that much
I was looking at getting some stainless steel control panels made for work a few years ago. I needed only like 40
yea dont see anything but steel being hydroformed on alibaba
And it ended up being cheaper to have them hydroformed in China and shipped than made in us at literally 20:1
Did you try typing in titanium hydroforming?
yup
its all either hydroformed stuff or $500 per part
or its raw materials for cheap
Because I found 5 results on the first page advertising titanium sheet metal hydroforming
im sure its possible but it aint cheap
it definetly aint $300 cheap
and again you have the old problem of rigidity
metals are not as rigid as cf
The only thing I see that's near that price is entire bike frames
at least by weight of solid material
literally click on any of the listings and check the sample price
they wont actually hydroform a part for you for 2 cents
Which one has a sample.proce that high?
the first one that showed an actual hydroformed part in the listing?
I only ended up paying like 50 bucks shipped for one sample of a stainless box the size of a shoe box. And that was hydro formed then laser cut.
why the heck would you hydro form a stainless box?
10 minutes
two minutes
- a lot of minutes
lana posting facebook content hmmmm
I think I posted the entire podcast yesterday from YouTube
But this is actually showing a demonstration of what they talked about
idk what its about I just thought you dont want to use facebook

I didn't find this from Instagram xd

THIS DOORBELL HAS NO SUBSCRIPTION FEE! But that's not why I'm making the swich. I've wired the Eufy Dual doorbell in place of my Nest doorbell because it has features that I've never seen on any other doorbell camera, AND because it has no subscription fee! This is easily the best doorbell I've tried so far and now that the Eufy Dual has fi...
its got a ball cam :')
3080 was such good value
I don't have much against the 3080
I have a lot against the 40 series
It's proving to be a major shitshow
Oh I know im just thinking out loud

7900XTX is doing well though
Im Interested in 7800?
that one isnt even announced
I did some basic ass formatting
you made it worse tbh
Just post the source
4080 looks like absolutely ass value
Nob ed
Where did you get the values
Fuckin reddit comments
You really want me to come out as a redditor?
I am as stupid as it gets I don't need more ammo against me
Fine
176 votes and 140 comments so far on Reddit
idk why linking to a reddit post would mean you use reddit
RT performance is abysmal, sadly
But the raster perf is really damn good
I really like that AMD can actually stand on close or even equal footing with the 4090
At a much cheaper price
4080 is dead though, wtf is that performance
Pretty sure AMD will always be worse for RT
I mean could be but nothing really to base that on
How much is the 6950xt hmmmm
if anything with xilinx IP they could get more modular stuff in there and come out on top in a gen or two
Tbh there's only one game I liked RT in
states "Parody" in twitter bio
Still gets banned
also ignore the 6950xt and only look for 6900xt
rip fake Rudy account
will be about the same and cheaper
I'll be honest, if the 7900XTX will be anywhere remotely close to 999 GBP, I'd get that instead
Difference between 6900XT and 7900XTX is substantial, and they both launched at the same price point
I have a 3080
Then why are you looking into GPU prices
That'll be enough for another half a decade
Curious
But also tempted to trade it in
For a AMD GPU
Just can't justify if that means getting less perf
If you somehow trade that 3080 for a 6900XT that's a worth trade
It's just a better product imo
Now that Nvidia has embraced an Intel's motherboard strategy and literally forsakes its old products
DLSS3 won't come to RTX 3000 series for some reason
what
how does software that allegedly needs actual hardware parts on the 40 series mean they forsake old products
Well, that's sad then
Cause FSR3 will be coming to old stuff but not DLSS3
So that's unfortunate but hey, sucks to be an Nvidia user
and it also might be really bad
I dont even want to use the current dlss 3
We'll see next year when that releases
I definitely would not want to use something that would be worse
I wouldn't put it beyond AMD to make it better, though
They're a capable bunch of engineers
Little reminder that AMD made "RTX" like half a year before Nvidia
nope
The little Radeon suite for rendering or something like that got an update with real time raytracing like, months before RTX was announced
AMD is announcing Radeonโข ProRender support for real-time GPU acceleration of ray tracing techniques mixed with traditional rasterization based rendering. This new process fuses the speed of rasterization with the physically-based realism that users of Radeonโข ProRender expect for their workflows.

2 years before RTX 3000
Obviously ray tracing existed years before that as well
But as far as I see, AMD did it first
you uh, do know that the rtx 2000 series was the first rtx card?...
Ah yeah that existed
and one car motor being raytraced is something a 1080 can also do
it was literally announced the same day as nvidia announced RTX at GDC...
volta came out before turing
Nvidia were working on raytracing for many years, as was AMD.
These solutions are developed many years in advance with lots of forward thinking for the future. AMD didn't just panic add raytracing, they just were further behind and it's r&d.
You just don't get it - People see real time stormtrooper raytracing and their wallets spontanously spurt out vbucks.
The part that boggles me the most is why AMD's gpufort is so much worse than CUDA
They have been competing for years
they have less money less people and less time spent on it
Doesn't really matter who was "first", you compare the products to what's available.
Nvidia raytracing performance is better on a similar product placement, AMD rasterization is actually faster at the same point.
If you want the best ray tracing performance today get Nvidia 4090 else get AMD really as it's cheaper and faster in raster for normal games
I remember how Canucks looked at ... was it BF1 and were... not very impressed by the performance on gen 1 ๐
how is it boggling that it is less good
Money, NVIDIA is the big player and people stick to the market leader for compatibility and since Nvidia has more money it feeds an infinite loop.
AMD needs to leapfrog performance to gain marketshare on a smaller budget without their name to lead market uptake.
It's a difficult challenge and one that won't ever change for a long time really. It's why they put so much effort into open source solutions as that's the best way to get people to pick it up regardless of their product, it's necessity for them
The Upcoming PiMax Portal Promises a lot for a Handheld Like 4K QLED Mini Led backlit Screen, VR Support, Leading AR-handled support, and a ton of add-on accessories like an 8.8" 120Hz dock that also comes with a Battery powered Ryzen 6800U mini PC with 60GHZ MM Wave support but is this new handheld something you're interested in? they are calli...
144Hz 4k display on handheld??
why tho?
RIP Battery life
Oh, its a VR handheld, it can dock into a headset
600 dollars for the handheld + the VR headset it docks into
That mean the VR headset is useless on its own?
Pimax has a pretty bad track record of meeting release timelines and quality control.
What a weird pivot, an android handheld....
the idea is that the headheld does everything
gaming in handheld
VR when docked in the headset
Yes this is like a gearVR situation, the headset has no display so it uses the tablet docked in it to display VR.
It's pointless.
still gets up to 1,000 dollars if you buy all the shit
@wheat plume deckard
Buy a steamdeck actually be able to play windows games instead of the rubbish mobile junk these days.
Get a quest 2 and have a really solid standalone VR setup.
Google it
She has one
Fuck Quest 2
If it wasnt involve with Facebook then maybe
Facebook is not great
Well, it was when it was ยฃ300
the hardware is fantastic
Ofc Facebook is not great
But now you don't need it
And there's software that lets you run the headset without an account
Pretty neat!
ah
As long as I don't have a public Facebook profile I don't give a shit
Though I'll admit reminding me Facebook exists is annoying
When I start it up sometimes
Honestly, quest 2 is fantastic value
why does it looks so cgi
i dont want to have to use workarounds that will probably stop working for obscure reasons at any time, just to not use facebook on a VR headset
the first part of ur statement reads like me when i think about using linux as a daily driver
what workarounds you do on Linux?!
hmm
(Digital Remaster) The original file was restored and processed at 480p quality in 2160ั60fps.
DONATION ๐ต

https://www.donationalerts....
proton and what not
who knows when a game will bean me for running it on linux
if the game has anticheat + supports Proton, it wont ban you
ez
Shit like Fortnite and Destiny 2 made it very clear they will never support Proton
so you will get banned in that case but they let you know you will before you even play
What work around?
You don't need a Facebook account anymore mate, just a meta account which is not linked to social media etc
No different to a steam, Microsoft account anymore.
meta = facebook
The workaround is to buy the pro version for like 800 that does not need an account
Yes but no, Facebook account is for social media platform.
Meta account is just an account like your old oculus account would be
so, it doesnt automatically make a facebook account for you if you make a meta account?
correct
Afaik
ahha
I can understand not wanting to use Facebook account as it meant your social media profile impacted VR account and was stupid.
That reason is gone so I don't get the issue, especially if you consider things like picco and pimax which are Chinese and even more questionable security wise.
I'd buy a picco
the reason pleasent mentioned for like the 5th time that he doesnt need a facebook account anymore is because you dont need a facebook account anymore just a meta account
RIP blockfi ded aswell
Another one bites the dust
@cursive summit new magni and modi
yea
Are you on Heresy or Magni 3?
Motherboard realtek audio ftw
I like a little colour
garbage
Carmonben will have a word or two with you soon
realtek driving my HD800's and genelecs
I really don't care who makes what
Motherboard audio is just not up to snuff to power high end devices
pft, no issues. enough volume at 20% ๐
The Aorus boards are said to have decent audio stuff
But eh it's not like they'll be driving planars anyways
waaaa?
I have my standalone stack and that'll drive my shit for the next decade or over until it dies
not all planars are hard to drive
the t50rp sure
others not always
easier to have a clean output on a separate stack since there are no other electronics that could interfere with it
I mean if I dont have to use 100% volume I shouldn't be lacking power
Sure the DAC may be lacking in distortion!
tf samsung ripping ppl off with 980 pro 1tb's. Was 130โฌ awhile ago now says 159โฌ with -30% off (RRP 219โฌ) LOL
Just gotta hike up the prices so we can have those AMAZING BLACK FRIDAY SAVINGS
990 1tb costs less RRP kek
It's loads better
Isn't 990 the one that's DRAM-less
Or has that bad memory
Cause there is a "high end" Samsung drive that's absolute dog
That's the Pro model
Is there a non-Pro?
Typically all Pro models from Samsung afaik are good
The problem's with their.. QVO's? I think?
And maybe a standard non-named part or two
Idk, I'm talking abt the 990 pro 1tb which is only 20$โฌ more now
I wanted the 980 pro tbh but I was waiting it to hit like 100~
Let's talk about the Steam Controller, one of the most important input devices in modern history of PC Gaming, that also paved the way to the success of the Steam Deck!
I should have gotten a Steam Controller
Well, I kinda have one now in the Deck but I dont use the touchpads in game very often
The best part about the steam controller
Is using more than 2 controllers with vive/index for body tracking
My new Samsung is virtually unused
Oh good lord my Steam folder is basically the entirety of D: drive
Arma 3 mods are insane
how large is the arma folder???
o
Hmm it went down, maybe
lol
I deleted some mods
:') wtf
Btw the game has to load all of those while booting up
So it's pretty damn slow
I usually press launch and then queue some video
it's typically finished in 10 mins
10 minutes... not bad compared to Distance loading all my workshop maps when you first boot up the game
takes near 30 minutes cause i have many MANY MANY maps
its a scifi parkour racer game
No wonder I've not heard of it
you drive a car called the Spectrum
and you need to beat a level without dying too much
and yo can boost and jump and fly and grip fly
Yeah I really don't care about those kind of genres, soz
I like sandboxes, not cars
NWBO/TB 4 (or, No Wings Boost Only 4) is the most popularly acclaimed "Beat this map, and you've mastered Distance" map on the workshop.
Steam user TieDye pours his experience as a hardcore Distance player into creating one of the most challenging experience Distance has to offer - and here's a video of me surmounting that challenge.
there are maps harder than this now...
gosh damn
this still looks really difficult though
90% of the time hes not even on the road :')
took me 16 minutes to beat this
32 the first time
asking for some suggestions
I need a good speaker for my setup - something small but good sounding and not so attention taking
I wanna say not much but yeah it's sound ๐
wonder if I should check soundbars... wouldn't look too obvious
ahah true...
let's say I am golden with 100 โฌ but definitely not wanna exceed 200โฌ
Soundbar is normally the cheapest way while minimising size.
Depends how big the room is to be honest, dedicated speakers will always win on performance but price is a piece of string and size will be the decider.
I would be 50cm away from it all the time so room size is not much of an issue
and I wouldn't watch movies with it either
I have arendal 1723 s speakers in 5.1 and they are amazing but they are mammoths xD.
Oh this is for just music? 2.0 setup be better then . I think at the budget I would go soundbar still though
so you have any recommendations for sound bar?
there is this samsung for 70โฌ but I feel like they are not good? https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Samsung-channel-soundbar-HW-T400-compact/dp/B094Y9LCN1/ref=sr_1_6?crid=27IK63SRT1GSS&keywords=monitor+soundbar&qid=1668618133&sprefix=monitor+soundbar%2Caps%2C111&sr=8-6
I recommended one soundbar thing for this lad a while ago
I don't at all remember what they said
Oh it was the Bose TV speaker
It was pretty damn good value for the features
๐ yeah bose would have been nice...
seems like bose solo is cheap but I guess it wouldn't be so good - back to youtube videos it seems
You need specifically a sound bar or speaker set?
soundbar fits better to my case rn
Idk what's much better than that Bose one
Seems to fit your 200$ max range
Hit up used market though, it'd be hard to insert something genuinely good and brand new into that price range
I've got a soundbar and for listening&watching music/movies it's good enough
With used you can typically shave off like what, half off of most stuff?
400$ bar is defo good, try finding some of those on the used market
you would think so but Austria is weird about that
the second hand market is more expensive than new 99% of the time - I just don't get it...
https://www.whathifi.com/philips/htl5140/review i've got this one
Bought it forever ago
I still say that headphones are better than speakers
Nah germany also has a shit 2nd hand market
Takes a while to find a genuinely good deal
Yeah but having people over and watching movies & partying and such it's quite ok ๐ ๐
What's people
You lot got friends?
Imaginary friends ๐ถโ๐ซ๏ธ
You can buy some amazing stuff second hand
Speaker> headphones if you can afford them and have the room
Damn if I had the space or the lack of neighborhood to buy speakers, I'd prolly get these
@thick elk hit me up, I can pull something from my local used market and send them over your way
I have no clue what delivery company will ship a fuckin meter sized speaker set though

Send me one I want one
yeah most UK or EU go for HD560 instead
The only Sennies I am interested in at all are either 650s/600s or the 800s
I genuinely dunno what headphones I even want anymore
I am interested in Sennheiser since I never had even the smallest chance to try them out
too many options these days
Hifiman I tried out up to the Ananda, which I wasn't too fond of
your local electronic store don't carry any?
Ananda just didn't seem okay
my bestbuy have the HD560
Like a typical electronic store, ours are filled with garbage
rip
From Boses to Beats and other shit
Just wireless stuff
Which I would say is not audio but bloatware
Fuck wireless
singapore seems to be the best place for a lot of hobbyist
they got dedicated audiophile and keyboard stores
there's definitely a use for wireless imo, but clearly there's a shortage of places where you can properly demo more "audiophile" type headphones
We have maybe a single audiophile store, and it's not very good
I hate using that word though because audiophiles are predominantly idiots
That's where I went to try out the hifimans
They had no sennheisers on hand which made me sad
audio enthusiast
Audio enthusiasts sounds way better
audiophiles are people who buy "audio optimized" network switches
Audiophile sounds like some weird pedophile kink
Those exist?
yes
LTT made a whole video

only the newer expensive audeze have normal-ish midrange
LCD-4?
rest have a weird dip
yeah so audeze is a no go brand for you
I had to watch it in small portions to recover from the concussions I got headdesking over every frame of that video
Maybe I can find someone selling their OG Focal clears for cheaper
I heard good good things about those
My listening is about ~60db
should be fine
just below the ear damage range
Which is weird cause for me 65-ish dbA is actually quite loud
If >70 dbA causes hearing damage from prolonged usage, it makes me think that living is dangerous
the beyerdynamic tygr is on sale for 150
one of the few beyer without FUCK YOU treble
all about the bass? no treble?
iirc 80db is the damage range
are you going to listening for that long out of 7 days for it to matter? even for me I doubt I get anywhere near listening to music to hit 40 hours in 7 days
considering it's logarithmic 70db would probably be like 250 hours in 7 days
think more like 400 hours which follows the scale all the way back to 110db
but there arent that many hours in 7 days lel
there arent even 200 hours in 7 days
yea and considering how your own usage patterns are I doubt many people would hit 40 hours
also music isnt -0db often
I mean garbage music is
most music is -3 or -6db peak with averages set to -6 and -9 respectively
my general rule of thumb is, if it's above 80db turn is down
it also helps to just not listen to a lot of music throughout the day, and having a quiet room always will allow you to turn it down withput any compromise
ah but how are you measuring the db...
can't afford a db recording device so I just use a app on my phone
put the mic right next to the driver as close as possible
some phones have noise normalized mics
yea thats generally even worse tbh
my actual noise level meter is often 10+db higher or lower depending on the situation
its better to take a louder result than reality than a lower one
the problem is it has +-10db of error lel
I'll eventually get a 711 to measure my iems and a actual db meter for everything else, but for now this is all I have
- or -
I am unsure what volume I usually listen to but it certainly is no 80db.
Some random sound measuring app got me peeking around 55db which seems plausible
Quick google search says that noise over 70db might cause damage over prolonged period of time
I'm not sure how scientific my measurement was, but I just stuck my phone microphone into the headphone earcup and measured the decibels that are coming out with my typical volume preset
Said it's about 65
I love when I hear ppl talk about db and distance is not part of the conversation
I should have stated that I put the mic side of my phone all the way in the cup of my headphone. But yea distance is insanely important
Significantly cheaper
For a lot of commercial uses, pi's are still cost-effective at this price.
You gotta watch online stores
Not surprised that it is so expensive for an 8GB model, can do quite some stuff with it
For that price you can get 7 way more useful apple microfiber cloths
๐
If you can use a CM4 instead that one is available
That lacks a pi
Since when is a Pi on a breadboard
This is just a bunch of widgets and shit FOR a pi.
Ah
Nothing is stopping you from using it
The cheapest I can find is
Much more simple to stick LEDs in a breadboard anyways
Could do less used
Tf can a Pi even do
A ton
You can use it for Kodi or Plex yes
seen a lot of people use it for a NAS
How tf are Pi Pico's only 4 euro
So it's not that shit when it comes to graphical output
How they making them this cheap?
So I guess it's not terribly weak
Not at all
But not really a "gaming" product
Definitely not that
home automation too
But can it run skyrim
You might be able to maybe emulate stuff on it
Afaik the pi 4 can barely handle 4k YouTube
It drops a lot of frames during playback
In 720p
But I would not say playing modern games without streaming is gonna be a nice experience
My Skyrim rig back in the day could play Skyrim at like 30 FPS
But it couldn't do 1080p for shit
4K was basically unbufferable
Sounds like it's faster than my ex-A4-5300
Skyrim is mods anyways
Can look great with them
Just not those realistic 200+ packs in the YouTube videos
A Pi 4 can do emulation very well
Tbf though I'd expect.. more for 100โฌ
Nah
Their normal price is about 50 euro
I can prolly do a full rig of ancient 2010s PC parts
For like.. 150
That'd be probably more powerful
Sure
So I guess other than its tiny size it's not that great
use way more power though
This is their normal price @cursive summit
I can kinda get the appeal and why they exist
uses more power, is about 100x bigger and is not new/under warranty etc.
But man I can't imagine using one myself for anything
Kind of an engineer/enthusiast product
I've seen people use these to make DIY retro gaming handhelds
Pretty neat
If only I could even log in to my router
pi hole + router+ home automation for cheaper than pre existing things, + cctv or such
If only I had a router
why can't you?
Not my router, owned by the ISP
Ikea smart home devices enter the chat
Virtually locked out of the router admin panel
UK ISP?
or wherever you are
I am nowhere near UK but I damn wish I was
yea I'm fairly certain you can access your router, most default routers are owned by the isp
and you can still use them
you literally need to configure them sometimes
If that's the case I can not guess what the admin password is
yeah just find the ip address and the login information should be on a sticker on the router
I tried nearly anything, not a chance
yeah how do you even set up wifi if you cant get into it
Depends, I had one way back in the day that was giga locked down locally and you had to log in on the ISP website to set things like SSID and the WPA2 PSK
no sticker on the router?
or put an open source router OS on it lel
That's the funny thing
You control the router via browser
yes that is normal
ISP's own webpage has a control panel
what country is this
It's really limited, more like just devices that are active and some basic settings
No port forwarding, etc
But yeah that's as much as I can control this damn router
Which is funny cause I told them they can have it
I had my own Wifi6 one
But they insisted that I have to use the one that's provided
So use your own anyway what they gonna do about it
I'm guessing literally spyware
prob a router/modem combo
Yes
Literally free
But the fact I can log in to my ISP's webpage to control my router is kinda.. scary
They can probably just do that by you using their service already
You should only be able to access it when connected to a network with that kind of router
I got my own router + modem after I was unhappy with the combo unit my previous ISP provided
Generally superior experience

maybe eSIM is safer
wait, bio login needs to be disabled first..
so most people are safe
70 grand, gosh damn
Break the silence
The days of lip reading on your PC are over
Promotional text on the box for a pair of realllllyyyyyyyyy cheap desktop speakers
it finally made sense to me why the 4080 is 400$ more than the 3080
you get 400$ worth of copper heatpipes

Daamn
RTX 3080 so cool and efficient that it doesn't need a power cable
Just feeds itself from the PCIe slot
Some 2016 technology returning right there
Steam...please
let us open a steam page inside the steam client .-.
I have Steam running, and im logged in and I dont wanna have to login to the website also
uhh you can see the connector in the picture
also nvidia is safe, they made it to spec, that is user error and perhaps a spec issue that is idiots that are thinking they get anything lol
I just want PCIe power cards to return
I figured it out
steam://openurl/https://store.steampowered.com/curator/42947045-Spooky-Scary-Horror-Games/
how to open a steam link in the steam app
just run steam from terminal with the openurl flag....
What
yes thats how a browser redirects you to a steam apge or opens up any app on your pc if you use a login in browsers that confirms an app or so
I don't really get why
Do people have an issue with viewing steam pages on browser?
there is no way to open a steam link from the browser in the steam app
I'd much rather view steam on browser than the app
no, but in this case, I wanted to join this group, and to do so, I either had to login to the browser or find a way to open it in the Steam app because im already logged into the app
Fuck off where you came from linux fools
Windows represents 90% of the market and for a good reason
Learn how to make a proper OS
good reason
its what people are used to, doesnt mean its the best
If Linux was good it'd have more adoption
nope
Last I checked, it wasn't good
windows privacy sucks yep
People dont want to learn a new OS, thats the main reason
but linux isn't really an option
Why are people required to learn what Windows made simple?
Installing stuff? Updating stuff? Navigating your OS
Windows made it simple af
Linux is so damn complicated for no damn reason
how is having to hunt down exe files online and then going through an installer page by page to maek sure it doesnt install unwanted crap, easier than installing software on Linux by searching for it in an app center and pressing install?
... windows has the same
I'm more computer savvy than most normies and I have constant headaches and problems with linux having to spend lengthy periods of time googling around and doing trial and error hoping I'll find a working solution
windows has winget now, which is amazing
Except that you have to also install shit through the terminal with Linux
but its not well stocked
you dont have to
regular normies who just wants to do work on their computers got no chance with linux
Windows has two terminals xd
cmd and powershell
Nobody uses powershell
Literally nobody normal uses powershell
Programmers and other peeps will use powershell
now tell me how to get all my games running and get drivers and software running for my rme recording interface
Normal user will never in their life learn that powershell even exists
Hell even CMD
well, i dont use terminal on Linux, for software management anyway
if you just want to browse the internet, linux isn't too difficult
^
the thing is they'll have headaches as soon as they want to do anything outside of internet cafรฉ stuff
I can get by with using Linux, but fuck me I spend half of my time troubleshooting why something isn't working than actually working
like installing ms office
any distro I tried just worked on my PC
libreoffice or gimp isn't really an option
Anyways that's why I have completely replaced my Linux mint with this bad boy
and installing Windows on my laptop, the touchpad and SD card reader dont work xd got to find the drivers online in the OEM website
dafuq is superlight?
Windows without any of the bloat
I've used them too
Deleted bloatware, telemetry, apps, etc
I put up with libreoffice because I didn't want to get ms office license for our company

id never trust a third party windows modification
Last time I remember my Windows utilizing 2GB of RAM was.. Windows 7 with no background tasks running
Windows 11 superlight out of the box has like 1.5GB of RAM usage
I hate quite a few things about microsoft, they're far from perfect
that sounds normal
but windows still the best compromise for everything to work for most users
Linux out of the box uses like 500mb ram
id say macos unless we talk gaming
My Win10 is like 6GB at all times
true but it just works
if MacOS wasnt so lacking in window management, and only ran on overpriced hardwware, id love to try it fulltime for a while
except the initial setup which i somehow got to hardcrash macos it just works
idk has good options for window management imo
like it way way more than windows
i have the opposite experience
my win pc is great for gaming and such
but everything else is just better since i got a macbook for work
depends on what type of productivity imo
i had no issues with music/audio, video and programming
I mostly used my mac for audio work
they're still objectively better at that sort of thing
yeah mine was a core2duo one from like 2010
most amazed by battery life though.. watching fullscreen videos for hours and barely drains the battery
I still have it and its still working, bit too slow to really do much with nowadays though
M1 is a different level
like i hate apple but i would always go for a macbook again for work
I wonder how long that will last over time, will it be as horrible as a windows laptop for battery degradation?
the old intel silicon ones doesn't do as well
had it a year now and battery still in tip top shape
impressive
probably a long time, the mcu is designed from the ground up to have low power cores for less demanding stuff
ahha
apples own silicon is serious shit
people like to go haha apple but those things are no joke
Nah, Apple silicon is the best thing Apple has released in many many years
they actually make newer apple machines pretty decent value
i never had doubt about apples products for work/productivity. be it phones or laptops/pcs. Id just not use it as a daily driver personally besides work as I game too much for that
while i could play final fantasy 14 on my mbp it doesnt get close to my pc
26fps compared to 300smth odd is just worlds
I'm fine with having an apple laptop for audio/work etc too but I wouldn't even consider it for a desktop
same issue
ya
the native mac launcher by third party even translates the directx to vulkan quiet well
but i think the game is just too heavy to not run native
i can see a native port of the entire game actually working out
i dont mind
id say they should do what they do best
Funny..MacOS started out as the best gaming platform when both mac and Windows were new
i dont think that we would ever see a be all and end all OS
true
im fond of the split right now of tinkeros, gaming os and productivity os
ChromeOS after over a decade finally added a calendar to task bar and soon a reboot button.
It makes me laugh everytime how it missed basic features.
windows doesnt even has a calender on the taskbar
yeah just google "calendar"
it does?
Yes it does?
it does though
on windows 10 it did
no since xp it did
Still does on 11..
clicking the time does nothing
It's has the date calendar since like vista or even xp
na xp also had it
in fashionable white with black text
xp best os though... that silver theme just was the shiz
Taskbar clendar only works on main taskbar for some bizarro reason
"best" is highly debatable, the maintenance of that OS was horrendous to be honest
when I click on the time in the taskbar, it acts as if I right clicked it
just get this
win11 still in beta
ya couldnt find a good silver theme screenshot from real xp as fast
I had it until a few updates ago, it wont work since then
I just slapped classic theme in my xp
they remove it for some reason?
so it looked like win98 or something
no it must be broken for you then
Yes classic the only way to go
I miss the animations they removed when you sswap desktop ;-;
bring them bacl ;-;
its so disorientating now
I find windows is fine for games, I dont like it for much else but my time with linux based distros is much better.
With vscode remote its removed platform need for me though as have office machine setup with docker instances for remote VScode so no longer need to care what my client is
how much "video" have you downloaded?
yep .-. welcome to Windows
I removed as much as I am comfortable doing
spinny image
the only shit I want to have in the background is KDE Connect and AHK
I wish I didnt need AHK, thats shit Windows should have by default like literally every single Linux OS .-.
global OS level keyboard shortcuts
but nope
but it does
because people would fuck it up
how?
what file?
where the shortcuts are stored
you dont need a file to change them on Linux
ur os does
unless you use only a window manager
how else would it remember
but people dont access it
same for macos
its a good practice though
cause people cant uninstall the kernel accidentally
(extreme example)
And no amounts of "are you sure you know what you're doing" is enough to save the idiots from themselves..
Probably
yep
or you cant delete your entire system directory by rm -rf wrong path
MW2 is a full ass game
Warzone is battle royale
guy in work deleted his entire ubuntu folder and didnt notice until he rebooted, it made his day
๐ค
wow, I love buying CP! Thanks, Activision /s
wait no, my bad
Warzone is not a battle royale, its a "combat arena"
such different indeed
LOL
What's wrong with CP
:')
yes, sure buddy
There's no other far worse, illegal innuendo there
nope, non whatsoever
bad idea, gives you the impression you could just buy Credit Points to buy your degree smh
most likely its pay to win
LOL :')
Apparently changing any setting in the game requires you to reboot the game
It still perplexes me why CoD games are popular
Almost like gamers don't know what games are
Also, #๐ฎโgame
Stop infesting other channels
Jesus christ... is it that long ago?
planetside is still a thing?
Feels like yesterday we were in the pre-release open beta, hotdropping galaxies into enemy factories to steal territory right under their noses. Loved being part of a small "elite" team who did this all day long.
ARMA2 milsim clan that was so well trained. It was amazing to behold as a galjockey.
It's been dead for years I believe. After SOE had a complete meltdown years ago. Back when H1Z1 was a game people talked about and it split up into two games or something.
Fun fact - It is the only game I can brag about being banned from the forums, but remain able to play ingame ๐
always knew mansen is a toxic gamer
Oh wow... I still had my old signatures in my Photoshop folder. Nostalgia ๐
Remember SIGNATURES? On FORUMS?
(I feel so old now ... fuck)
Beyond Earth is probably even cheaper and less bogged up by bad mechanics.
I had that yesterday when I had to use linkedin to talk to a former colleague
I member forums feelsbadman good old times
LinkedIn feeling like facebook 2.0 now
LinkedIn is social media for business people
well cant use facebook to talk to him, dont want his boss to spy on his chats there since he works at meta
