Maybe for business if i want to become a manager
I mean it really depends on what field, how you can learn best and what you want to do after
yeah I need to be away from home to be my best
Libraries are nice if they are still open
defo the problem is I have very bad habits
having a set schedule is much better for me
than making my own hours
I can def see that being good for people it just isn't conducive to me learning anything
yeah I like it for working but for self study I think I owuld do much worse
Also, didn't realize there were so many Germans here
quite a few
we've quickly taken over the server in silence a while ago

wtf that sounds too good to be true

if you're one of the many brilliant minds in a Liberal Arts program of some sort
it only really opens more doors

like teacher's college, further study, etc.
Mechanical engineering
still deciding over if I should drop a masters in favour of just...going to become a teacher
Was my major
:L
ah, math
wooting > n : n element of Keyboards \ {wooting}
hot take
I found those in engineering programs were wonderfully smart
couldn't think

I would love to be a teacher if I could teach stuff for 0-18 year olds, unfortunately I hate 0-18 year olds
quite the problem
I'd be fine teaching like...late high school history and other liberal arts stuff
if anything
no math, never math
very much same
I'd love to teach maths but I hate most other humans
although honestly, I'd say not all kiddos are terrible
a vast majority of them are
hot take number 2
people tend to be a little more invested in their education if they're actually paying for it
yes but in a class of 30 people with 90% of kids being shit I wont have fun
focus on the three that aren't
or
get the remaining 27 outside till they choose to be civil
I would rather throw them out of the window on the 6th floor
...well shit
I understand but that's one hell of a way to lose a job and never get one again
teaching in schools also prolly doesn't pay that well
thats why I wont take such a job
here it caps out at enough for a respectable middle-class life
¯_(ツ)_/¯
if I were to ever teach I'd have to offer extracurricular activities on my own time
which seems like a bad deal for me
oh I would only do it as civil servant role so I basically am guaranteed to have certain pay brackets and will be secured if something happens etc.
backyard drug manufacturing

I mean like a maths club to help lower performing students and elevate the ones already doing well
(by giving them drugs)
not doing that would go against my principles and for the amount of compensation that amount of work isn't worth it
Did a lot of this after class
hehe true
I had this one teacher
she was west german
absolutely ruined any interest I had in kanuckistani history by shitting over the whites as genocidal maniacs
and making us do art in class
instead of essays
:|
I mean
historically, the whites did do plenty of trolling
but the heart was in the right place
somewhat
I used to always be among the best physics students in my year proceed to one year with a teacher who hated my ass
all enjoyment gone
always had great maths teachers and always enjoyed maths even when I wasn't in a good place
it is always that one teacher that can ruin everything
or give passion to a student in an otherwise uninteresting field to them
my school had a really low number, think it was in the 50s

NVIDIA RTX 4080 tested in Geekbench Just hours after the first RTX 4080 scores made their way to Geekbench site, the same unreleased SKU has now been tested with 3DMark software. Hardware leaker MEGAsizeGPU, who has an excellent track record recently, is now the first to share RTX 4080 3DMark scores from TimeSpy tests. The […]
The DirectStorage team is pleased to share that GPU decompression with DirectStorage 1.1 is available now. This new version of DirectStorage contains everything a developer needs to get started with GPU decompression. For more information on this feature and how it benefits gamers,
waiting until we actually see this in games
yes this is just for devs and was also announced some days ago
evga shill got the production sample they made before they dropped nvidia, wow such video
its not even a surprise, JPM and GN said they saw evga work on 40 series boards when they reported on it happening lol
Yes but it’s still interesting to see how it was supposed to look imo
always liked EVGA's shroud designs
damn 40 series looked way better than the 30 series in terms of design
20 series was the best design
900 series was the best looking for me
Wasn’t into tech back during 900 series yet
oh also turns out headphone virtualization is a bad thing apparently so I got used to bad sound quality for years lmfao
so I guess I'm going to keep the equalizer setting for a while and try to get used to that now lol
clearly they were going for a classified look
That one was really sad
Blower? Come on...
What was also sad was no custom 690 boards
quad sli
did you have a 295x2?
I didn't have any of this, I bought it later
I do have a 295, but it's not the Radeon one
Card with some of the strangest looking rear io ever
looks like the 7800GTX
looks like 8800GTS/GTX
kek, forgot dual pcb cards
What
9800gx2 yea
Same concept
But the 9800gx2 is 1dvi per pcb
GTX 295 put both dvi on the same pcb
So it's on the wrong side of the card
the dye itself looked very 8800gtx, but then I recalled they never had a cut into the end of the pcb for the fan
Power connectors were also wtf
8800 didn't have an ihs
Here's the 9800gx2
Anyways I also don't own any useable amd dual GPU cards despite owning fully functional 3870x2, 4870x2, 5970, 6990, and 7990
All of my Nvidia cards are fully useable besides the first gtx295 which I bought for parts and emitted the magic blue smoke when I powered it on 😦
Everything else stress tests fine, but the Radeon cards all have use ability bugs on desktop
so skip desktop and just boot directly into game/app ez
yeah what are you some kind of nvidyuh fanboi
I've had amd appoligists say stuff like that

"Who cares that your desktop icons are flickering, it doesn't affect you in game"
Well my hud flickers to so digest that one for a second
so thats why there are only 2 cus in zen4, its for desktop use to make sure the gpu cant break there
5head amd builds
haha nvidia fanbois paying $1400 for working grabbics card when they could be paying $800 for half working one instead
is it really a DIY if you dont DIY your frames?

We're tearing down the last video card EVGA ever made - the RTX 4090 FTW3 by EVGA on NVIDIA's Ada GPU architecture. The company last told us that it had no plans to ever make another video card -- that could change, we'll see -- and if it maintains that commitment, this would be its...
GN actually took it apart
is it though?
its not like they see anything they shouldn't
nvidia can be petty so maybe but I dont quite see what the reason would be here
I doubt nvidia would do that unless they want to just totally start ignoring media
This is less flames on the bridge than han going on the record and whining about the shady business practices
There has been a single shipment of 4090 tufs in uk since they launched
For a single retailer
Sounds like the 3080 drama.
nah thats just the case for that one sku, others have been in stock multiple times
It was so bad that one of the biggest online shops in Scandinavia had to do daily updates on the situation on forums like LTT to inform customers exactly how many of each card were coming in. It was insane.
Asus tuf OCs are in stock but it’s just extra price
which means they know that and just sell less of the cheaper ones to make more margin
we've already had multiple shops confirm they got a lot more than they got on 30 series release
like especially with these prices AiBs will make more of the OC models to get some more margins since they have even less than usual due to nvidia making a compelling product and selling chips+memory to them
guess so?
I think the greentext I posted in memerage recently applies here
I dont touch that channel
Usually I don't either only when I see something stupid that I think fits there
Then I just go ahead and post it

guess its time to look at wifi 7 to know what that can do
Cortex X3 eh?
yeah idk where that says anything about shared data
that depends
Meanwhile, in Ireland, ISPs think you are a robot if you use more than 70GB a month
.-.
Got an email from my previous ISP anytime I went over 70GB, informing me that business plan data usage dont apply to personal plans
They thought I was a fucking business for using more than 70GB
1tb is nothing, that's 3 call of duty updates these days!
Laughs in indecisive about which games I want to play
Some months I have well over 200gb
On my phone even
Yep can't believe introducing data caps on broadband, it's like US all over again.... Virgin never contacts me here when I've ended up using 10tb+ in a month
Them satellites only have a limited amount of bandwidth sadly
They had no problems beforehand though 🙂
FML
Never buying Lenovo again.
I dunno I just heard Starlink speeds are just getting slower and slower
It's kinda a bait a switch feels like. Here is a no limit plan and you pay for the initial hardware.
Once you are invested now they say there is a cap
They finally got off their arse and sent me a replacement monitor - Which admittedly DOES fix my 144hz chroma subsampling issue... but also comes with two neat dead pixels.
Rip, another replacement then!
Fuck that - They're getting the replacement back and then I'm making a phonecall to the seller for a refund.
It means WiFi. Not your mobile network operator
oohh
Yes obviously I'm not gonna use my mobile data for that
Home wifi
40gb of cellular, 350gb of wifi last month on my phone
I use about 3-4gb of cellular usually
which lenovo monitor may that be?
Lenovo G34w-10
Maybe the universe is telling you not to get a VA panel haha
va bad
why get va when other panel tech exists
ips
Not as good as VA
lol
Although I do not mind my current Nano-IPS display
va is dogslow
Still I imagine a 700$ Samsung VA is superior
gtg
@astral haven You know more than most of us about these things, could you defend VA for me?
I imagine VA is inferior to QD-OLED and such, but it's still far better than TN and IPS
I agree
give me TN over it all day
i agree
yea thats a hard no from me
you cant say anything, you have qdoled which has smearing similar to old va...
absolutely not lol
That's a doozie
I tried some va last year think it was a gigabyte ultrawide
QDOLED shouldn't smear?
god that was atrocious smearing
G27M?
Or M27
all oled must smear when the brightness is low
27 isnt uw
g34wqc iirc
Sorry no that's not what happens in practice though.
There is no VA like smearing on QD-OLED.
lower the brightness enough and it appears
at a lot of pricepoints ips>va
I'm looking at mine right now and not seeing it
think I'm at 50% brightness and I dont see it
0% brightness on black with white text, seems fine
yea it happens with grey on black most obviously
va doesnt have any issues with white to black either
I played hades on the VA monitor and you could see the black lines on the ground tiles smear around when I was moving
I see no smearing, I know from phones and that you can see smearing but it's never manifested itself in a visible way to me on my OLED TV nor my QD OLED monitor
nothing like that on the oled
youu may be thinking of 3 gen old va
Only Samsung's latest on the g7+ is actually fast VA to hide smearing for the most part
or non samsung va (va is a samsung panel tech, so every non samsung monitor is a minimum of a gen behind)
so you are saying most people who buy va are buying trash
some samsungs still use old gen va
my original g7 had zero ghosting
Depends on your use case
cmon if you are doing office shit u don't need the cream of the crop when it comes to monitors
gaming obv
Zero is definite but yes as I said g7 and above (sorry that's what the plus meant) .
It's low enough to not be a problem on those panels
the other thing about va is it has a minimum of 2x the contrast of a tn or ips
if you nerf a va to ips/tn levels of contrast its faster, but the thing is, humans are faaaaaaaaaar better at seeing contrast than 10% to 1% transitions
For gaming I wouldn't touch another VA panel unless it was on Samsung's topish lines as the rest are not good for motion.
ah but there arent any low end qdoled panels
for gaming potentially because refresh is very helpful
but thats only for esports
for literally anything where you care about picture quality, va is superior
I mean yeah I guess so? There is only one panel type right now from Samsung and it's really good.
The technology doesn't have the VA like ghosting
literally better for reading text
ah but it does, you just cant see it
I do miss the contrast on my old lg va
I can read text just fine on anything
If you can't see it does it exist? 🙂
yea try doing it for 12 hours straight a few times in a row and youll understand the need for va
air exists
You can read text fine on IPS?
its always possible to make it visible
I can assure that is not the case
That's also an edge case
its fine, but it generates significantly more eyestrain
sure but it happens frequently for alot of jobs
im also exaggerating to make a point
I've yet to see the smearing and ive had it for months now. I always use black/dark modes.
I noticed smearing in my CV1 headset and my phone's but never on this monitor and TV.
Sounds like a bad job instead of the monitor
I regularly do 9 straight hours of staring at monitors, and its signficantly less eyestrain at the end of the day when im at home than at work even tho i have my monitors at home set brighter with a dimmer background
I just destroy picture quality at work and just a blue light filter
That can just be a backlight implementation difference though? That's not IPS Vs VA in total.
It's also possible your monitors are calibrated to different white points
its not, both are using 28khz pwm backlights, and both are d65 with delta es of under 5
The only difference is the VA and IPS then? I still don't buy it, I'll accept it is a thing for you anecdotally as I found no different in strain from my IPS, VA and OLED panels over the years personally
I guess another factor is the ambient lighting
its really only relevant for reading black on light color text
thats valid, however i have tuned my lighting at home to be relatively near d5, i use a main 6.5k bulb with a second bulb at i forget what warm temp that i have dimmed to be approximately natural
How's the lighting at your job?
ill admit not fantastic, however its at least 28khz and its near natural too
Probably enough for you to notice the difference in the contrast
wdym?
Well not contrast, but the resulting eyestrain
(1)QD display and LCD will affect the physiological parameters of human eye during continuous visual task, and can be quantified by changes in human physiological parameters; (2)The effect of QD display on human physiological parameters is significantly smaller than LCD; (3)The quantum dot display performs better than the liquid crystal display in visual health comfort.
its true that my vas are all quantum dot and my work ipses are all normal panels
this is the only relevant scholarly thing I could find
this is not very well studied
shame
im confident its very well studied, but behind closed doors for a competitive advantage
I mean if they have proof X is better than Y they would be using that in marketing at any point:)
What was that technology that used two layers to achieve great contrast?
significant proof*
why when they can just say it and not prove it lmao
dual layer lcd or dllcd
and I even had to log in with my university shit to even get access to the study
this is some real bullcrap
I mean there is a difference, they have to have some form of proof to make a bold claim that it's better?
I know they get away with a lot but there is a little accountability haha
The Hisense U9DG is Hisense's flagship 4k TV in 2021, and it's a very unique TV. It's the first widely available TV that uses a dual-layer LCD panel, with a 1080p grayscale panel sandwiched underneath a 4k ADS (IPS-family) panel. It's an impressive TV overall, and Hisense has clearly shown that the technology works, as it has incredible contrast...
accountability in advertising
good joke
dual layer LCD, it's what most reference monitors use to provide the best display for mastering (like Sony does)
yup
you can get better than oled contrast (practically in a lit room)
That tv could do 25,000 : 1
yup, and the good stuff can do 45k:1 in an actually lit room
the big advantage of dllcd is the massive amount of light that is absorbed by the panel also prevents back layer reflections like you get on oled
I mean I don't think they beat the contrast however they have no peak brightness limit which is one of the main parts for HDR mastering and they have no ABL (mostly)
no they do beat the contrast in a lit room
That's wrong, they have a brightness limit they have much higher limit than OLED typo sorry
darkroom contrast no obviously oled is better
@astral haven pc has been freezing lately main screen goes black secondary still displays last image any ideas? I think my 10yo power supply might need replacing
Yeah practically all mastering is done in a dark room
thats really not correct
alot of color correction can be done in dark rooms but frequently its done with well controlled ambient light
Have you changed anything lately? What is your pc spec?
Does it die doing nothing (well mostly) or during games or something?
nah just freezes doing literally nothing
haven't been gaming much recently too much uni stuff
specs
5600
6700xt
What is your ram set at?
I would also check that, your ram clock might be unstable.
Who is the goto for under 100 nowadays for psu?
took it down from 3600 16 18 something something to 17 18 should be able to handle it regardless since it's b die
depending what power I would not go under 100 lol
What is it rated at though? Is it a 3200mhz bdie? It should clock fine but better to rule out
rated at like 4400 19
100 in what currency?
Usd
usually I look at seasonics focus lineup or similar ones from them
I spent like 170 on my rmx750 at the time
idk what the prices are for that over there
I might just yoink the rm850x from my other pc and put some random shit in there
Seasonic was always the best, Corsair I'm not sure what they use these days.
Don't get an EVGA unless you look at reviews as they went to shit after the g3
shame for all the cable management
Think corsair got better after they hired Johnny guru
That would be the best way of debugging the PSU yep 🙂
Rip Jonny reviews, they were the best.
well I won't be able to do that in the next 2 weeks but I have a working laptop so that is fine
Yeah, dunno who will replace him
I sure as hell won't trust llt lab for the first couple years
You could try dropping ram to 3200mhz just incase.
if it does it again I'll try it
also gonna be on the look out for sales on good psus
can't really afford to spend like 150+€ on one rn
oh look it's a fire hazzard
I'm hoping I can snag a platinum rated one somehow
idk if there are any in that pricerange tho
think they start at like 150 nowadays
Chieftec still going?? I had one of their cases that came with a PSU back in the day and that was the only power supply that killed a part of my pc when it died :(.
Lost a Samsung drive to that shit show
ssd or hdd lel
nlg would be nice to see if someone makes a comparison how much you actually save from a gold vs platinum rated psu by tracking it over time the usage and how much more/less it would've been with another
Not looking und 100€ unless there's a deal
like does platinum pay for itself afer 5 years at x price per kwh etc.
thing is it also highly depends on the psu
a platinum 1600w will be horrific compared to a platinum 700w on a 100w average use computer
Banana bread
There are calculators for that I think
yeah I mean comparing 850w gold vs 850w platinum
sure but it also depends on which platinum you get
yeah but I would like some hands on testing to make sure its not just a theorethical result
Go after efficiency curves
Not rating etc
well yeah, some rough comparison test would still be nice
Efficiency curves 🫶🏼
well thats basically what the 80+ ratings are
some have lower idle power usage that is made up with significantly more efficient regulation, some have amazingly low idles but less efficient regulation
Checking the actual curve is way better
This was back when SSDs weren't a thing sadly, was a Samsung f1 hard drive
Yeah that's why I thought chieftec was gone haha
so track it for one model and with the data of a similar model that is higher rated, just something that is known to get some numbers that are not pure theory
like that one exists in gold and platinum, would ne neat to have a comparison from someone just using the pc for daily work since as an example for the consumption
also heh thats the one I have too I think
yup
lmfao
the problem is most of the time they use entirely different platforms for the different tiers
and yea the efficiency curves absolutely exist, you just need to figure out your power usage and plug it in
now I just gotta be careful not to leave any cables in there by accident
I think 116 is a decent price for that psu
espc since the euro is dying
yes I just dont have accurate power measuring so I simply want someone do make an accurate test as an example, it's not that complicated why I want more than just the theorethical difference
yeah 116 seems quite cheap for that
makes sense considering transients on gpus nowadays
Bought an Asus Rog Strix 1000W psu for 180€ in April 😅
how the hell does hwinfo tell me my wall powerdraw
my psu reports wall power to the system
you just gotta make a python script calculating all the power no trouble at all lmfao
u know that varies
yes that doesnt tell me the wallpowerdarw and last I checked my psu does not tell me that
yea its super rare
the whole deal about efficiency curves is that it's not a 1:1 of what the pc uses lol
screenshot of what section its under?
if I just want some average I could just take a 2% difference and make some estimate
and how do I get wallpowerdraw?
since my psu could be better or worse or degraded or w/e
man I'm kinda sad if it's really the psu causing the problems
that thing has been a trooper
ever since the 2500k
doesnt matter since you cant get degraded draw from the psu you would be replacing it with either
10 years quite a while
all I said is I wish there was some accurate data of someone testing it, I don't have the equipment so I dont care about getting some estimates, it's not a 50% difference either way so without accurate testing no real point imo
hx850
there is tho
its called the efficiency curves
actual beast for sticking around this long
I have a M12ii Evo that is still going strong
just set pcpartpicker to eu and not us to see that...
also replacing a 850w with 1200w seems like a bad plan when we are on about efficiency
depends on your idle power draw
my idle power draw on my pc is smack at the peak of the ax1600i thanks to the lovely work of amd -_-
it s a power supply
Uwu what's dis https://www.igorslab.de/en/amd-radeon-rx-7900xtx-in-virtual-two-way-battle-with-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080-calculator-and-facts/
Igor has had a questionable track record lately
Is he really reliable?
Best to ignore and just wait for real third party benchmarks.
this is speculation based on amds and nvidias numbers
emphasis on speculation
him finding stuff that doesnt end up being the reason something breaks isnt a "questionable track record"
it's labelled as an estimation
No.
He can't be called reliable but he does have some good finds occasionally but he makes way too fast conclusions and backtracks after being wrong.
Wouldn't take too much of what he says, add lots of salt.
what he got about the cables wasnt wrong just seems like he got a cable that wasn't the most used one and the conclusion was off but doesnt change the data that you could see for yourself
Probably also doesn't help with autotranslate as it might lose a lot of tone for what he really meant.
nah that is fine
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYzJf71WUcM
Don't know if this has been linked but interesting to look at tear-downs 🤓
Sponsor: Thermaltake Core P3 Pro on Amazon https://geni.us/6Q6M
We're tearing down the last video card EVGA ever made - the RTX 4090 FTW3 by EVGA on NVIDIA's Ada GPU architecture. The company last told us that it had no plans to ever make another video card -- that could change, we'll see -- and if it maintains that commitment, this would be its...
Kinda liked the placement of the power delivery to the card
Would've been kinda clean with the CableMod 90 degree cables
It will be interesting to see the outcome of this 12 pin melting issue.
There have been a significant enough reports now across many boards, adapters and direct 12pins all melting.
Maybe it's the card at fault or the spec itself really is just inherently not safe enough for general use.
its probably just not being seated properly
Yeah will be interesting.
the connector was poorly designed such that people can click them in without being seated, or its too high force to seat it that people arent clicking them in
But it's a lot of wattage delivered through thin wires
thats not the problem
Ah so the seating of the cable is the problem?
the wires of the 12 pin can handle something like 2kw easily at 12v
the problem is the contact between the plug and socket
Well it's part of the problem if it doesn't seat properly as its meaning fewer wires than optimal are taking the load.
The 8pin setup is designed for way more than its rated for for safety. This margin was cut significantly for the 12pin and maybe they have gone too far
it wasnt
8 pins were not designed for that much power at all, and they also melted
i think people forget that 8 pins melt
the difference however is that the 12 pin doesnt have the luxury of having backup connectors if the contact is poor
note how we didnt have this issue on the 3090ti which on average uses more power?
thats because the 3090ti had separate power balancing for each 1/3 of the power connector
Yes, less connections and more load over the connected party.
8pin had more redundancy here which was my point.
if 1/3 of the connector has bad contact, the gpu simply draws less power
no
1 8 pin is 3 live 3 ground
2 is 6 live 6 ground
2 8 pin = 1 12 pin
But 16 pins Vs 12 🙂
I know the power pins are not all of them but it's less in one block
In terms of power wires? Yes
In terms of connecting block it's 4 less and in 1 single block with a single point of failure
no
Which makes it more open to human error
theres no single point of failure still
The one plug fails though? If the plug isn't fully seated it could make a poor connection.
Having a big connector with a big card meaning even bigger cable bends will put more stress on the connector.
Whereas having two separate smaller blocks with actually 4 more locating pins can mean less likely being pulled out or compromised connection.
yea but theres no location problem
and the 12 pin is a smaller connector than the 8 pin
This is a bad design really as this is engineering 101 for making sure bad humans cannot break it as a connector.
I guess the problem is there have been many saying theirs has melted but was fully seated so this could be completely wrong angle anyway
saying "it was fully seated" is not the same as it being fully seated
the burnt pcie 8 pins obviously wouldnt have burned if they had perfect contact either...
what appears to be happening is nvidia is power monitoring the 12 pin as an aggregate, so it is evenly load balancing between different pins instead of limiting each part of the connector's power draw
yeah, on their previous iteration on the 30 seires they had it be balanced as separate connectors, now it see it as just one connector
yup
What about ones using the 12pin directly via modern PSU? I've seen a few of these now, not even using an adapter and it fails
its gpu side
well sorta
what happens is lets say the rightmost 2 power cables are having poor contact, and the middle 4 are having mediocre contact
the resistance goes up, so the power instead travels through the 2 wires with good connection
the card sees ok power draw across the entire connector so its like 🤷
on the 30 series, it would have seen oh this part of the connector is drawing too much power, lets limit it
Personally I think the outcome of the 12pin cable issue would be tighter manufacturing tolerances, possibly by the connector disappearing into obscurity / a revised variant coming to market with a bit more headroom.
To me it seems it all just boils down to a spec that just does not leave a lot of room to user / manufacturer error.
i hope they just come up with a connector variant that pivots 180 degrees
but what would be more awesome is a firmware update that tells you if the connection is good
first we need to find out what exactly causes it before we know how it can be fixed
you got a pic of the burnt fe?
I can see if I find it in a bit
yea all i can find are aib models tho using the fe adapter
There was also at least one with a cable direcly from the psu burning
hm I think I might've thought it was FE based on the poster saying it was an FE adapter
interesting 🤔
did nvidia mess up the reference card but not the fe?
very possible...
tyvm for the sauce quin
I don't know the sales figures to put it into context
could be worth taking a look at the pcb pictures from TPU and see if there is a difference for FE and those listed cards
theres huge differences
in the 12pin area I mean
yes thats what im talking about
also even if that would be the difference, surely that's still a flaw of the design since bad protection or so on any 8 pin doesnt melt it
ah but it does
oh is nobody using the V shape pcb? I thought with some of the overhead coolers they would use that for some AiB models
yeah same
fe in the middle
asus and msi on either side
the partner cards all seem to have that arrangement of shunts that seem tied together right below the 12 pin
the fe shunts seem separate
yeah seems to be the same for all AiB just moved to different spots
with a third one somewhere close
3rd is a different value
the two tied together say 002 and the 3rd is 005 on both partner cards
now I understand why my sound was so weird after I tried the eualizer
this was set to after to my left and ride side were flipped....
o.o
I still havent gotten the youtube redesign on the phone app :')
I had it for like an hour a few days ago and it went away again
And I have a custom version of the YouTube app
It's shite
Vanced for life anyways
vanced is dead, long live revanced
Yeah one of those vanced forks
I dunno which I have
I am still on the original vanced on my phone
And I think I'm on revanced on me tabletto
Anyone posted about the verified account name change being disabled?
lol that is one way to go about solving that issue
Days ago
It was only a recent change @cursive summit
They disabled editing names for verified accounts.
Verified = you don't have the ability to edit name
Yes and I'm relatively sure we already posted that a day or two ago
Prove it
then dont respond in the first place?
Shush
What is important to note here though is that not all connectors will fit this way. Since this recommendation was made by Johnguru, some users claim that their connector simply do not go all the way as recommended. Which raises a question whether the connector specs are wrong, or the power adapter is to blame.
now I wonder maybe its not about the power handling on the FE but maybe nvidia is just using a different batch/supplier for the 12pin ports on their cards and the others have worse tolerances lol @astral haven
meta stock is up and I got a quest 2 today? coincidence? I think so
ignore the fact I just got a replacement for work, totally bought it so the stock went up
Dad, can you buy the crypto I invested in and it has been crashing relentlessly so it can go back up?
Pls?
crypt omegalul
you need VR headsets for work?

Plenty of areas where VR glasses are useful
Like CAD, I imagine
Would be cool seeing a fluid engineer with VR glasses being amazed at water physics
I want to see a fluid engineer reacting to the tutorial level of Titanfall 2
the water flows backwards xd
wat?
Eh just look it up
did you accidently order a million quests?
you cant buy quest in germany at all
privacy problems made it so they cant sell them
wow quest uses usbc so I can just use the cables I already have!
almost like having that on phones will be really good too
stares at apple
yet Apple have USB C on their iPads now .-.
you already need two cables for Apple products
USB C for laptop and iPad and lighning cables for phone
But limits it to 2.0 in device mode!
Yeh...
@ashen spindle looks like Meta stock bout to go down soon
Stock price going up cause tens of thousands of human lives will be potentially ruined?
You can fuck right off with this bullshit
Not you Quin, but the industry
I mean its quite simple, you do thing that doesnt bring much profit, so you cut the costs (and payments are almost always the biggest cost for any project) so the rest now do the one thing that is proven to work or has to bring more results
sure its harsh
but like, thats how it goes with anything, if product isn't sold company goes bankrupt, here it's basically just as if that was a sub company that got closed
well yeah but you also can't really run a company that just loses money as its selling point
Layoffs are also needed at times to trim the fat. Even if at face value everyone seems busy / productive, the processes themselves may grow inefficient.
oh god

this looks like an apple slide
and those are so bad
Especially considering it's a datacenter product, you could go a lot more boring / technical for those.
Why are these only for datacenters
I want something like that for gaming
so you want slower cpus for gaming?
Is EPYC 7773-X the most powerful current Epyc CPU?
for a few grand?
Well, downscale it to a 1000$ package, make it into Raptor lake and it might be alright
so a grand for a cpu that is slower than a 13600k?
I imagine pairing an Xe card with HBM2e could lead to some cool results
As long as the GPU makes up for it
A grand for a solid combo rig isn't a bad deal
You don't need that much CPU power really, make the GPU do all the heavy lifting
nonono I mean a grand for a cpu without igpu
Huh
This slide made me think they combined them into a single shit
And it got me curious
well yes that is one option, just like nvidias offering
but enjoy your 2400W packages on desktop for your 15fps gaming
if they can even run any game lmao
If the technology exists to make a 13600K-ish CPU and a GPU with raw power of about 3060, paired with HBM2e memory on a single package
Why aren't they here yet
There was that cool af Intel/AMD hybrid with processing power of a GTX 1060... 5 years ago?
because who wants to pay 10x the price for a slower product?
ooo

It really doesn't have to be slower though, nor 10x more expensive
well if you have some magic tech from 10 years in the future, sure
6 big / 8 efficiency cores, 32 Xe cores, 8GB of HBM2e
That wouldn't be that expensive
WARNING: Contact a fully qualified electronics repair shop to help you use the included SIM removal tool
we already know that meteor lake will is tile based
and it's not going to be the hyper APU that you think it would be
Lunar lake image seems to be indicating to transcend the limitations of reality
Prolly a quantum architecture
hbm is not some magic memory that makes a gpu just faster for free
Is meteor lake the upcoming generation?
yes
I hope AMD will deliver on that front
no they wont
its not that intel is behind in tech or anything
you just cant do that with current products and technologies
Pheonix arch seems capable of that
RDNA3 iCores and Zen 4
Facebook and Facebook Messenger get a 9/10 privacy score????
It won't be what I want, a super jet powered APU, but it's good enough
In EU prolly, they can't really spy on your data I imagine
Too many data protection laws
do those laws still apply to the UK?
Things like GDPR and shit
Brexit means brexit
no matter how shit it may be
If they have any clue they might want to rejoin EU
This time with a better contract
Would the EU even take them back?
yeha..
I would buy from amazon.co.uk all the time if not for customs
Also UK has a lot of unique stores
I'd be happy if they rejoined
Do they want that? I fuckin hope they do with the embarrassment of mr toupe man and "30 days in office" PM
Conservative party in UK been fuckin up
Not that any other party there isn't as shite
yeah.. ;-;
Amazon DE is limited and takes like 3 weeks to get shit delivered to me
Sigh
BEFORE brexit, Lana
Now it's not even worth considering
Although truth be told I saw a lot of cool deals on aliexpress and that other chinesium weird shop
Banggood, that's the one
I got my keyboard from there
ah yes, I love getting a link to the project about security and their secure certificate is expired....
Smh
oh apparently on their old project they got hacked and that website from the previous project now redirects to a porn site
...
how the hell did these guys get into a project about security
Banggood has some insane offers
I was looking for a good drone for someone as a gift
The good ones are easily 700€+, the Mavic 3s
So I found a FIMI X8 which is really comparable with newer Mavics
Locally it's like 800€, in Banggood it was 450 AND it ships from a Czech warehouse for no custom costs
classic
He really thinks American work policy = Chinese work policy
I hope everyone just leaves that company at this point
Twitter is most likely dead, good riddance, Musk
oh look new checkmark just dropped
but not every verified account got it
soo uhh weird rollout or already a mess
dafuq?
why does the compositor need geolocation data??
Or maybe it's so the fancy night light feature automagically looks correct without you having to put in your location
and it already got reverted???
what a mess lmfao

? what
Where's the edit button
What does :“Blue check will be the great leveler” mean?
Also is this how did things with tesla? What a mess

16k qubits is nuts
thats not per processor tho
what
$ billion
no chance
for the entire tripe system setup
i dont think you have a concept of the difference between a million and a billion dollars
1 one is $15 million for 20 qubit
ok?
so even if it droped an order or magnitude in price per qubit
price is per processor
that still billion
the processors have gone from 20 to 400+ qbits per processor
and they are putting multiple processors in a single cascade system (the actually expensive part of the system)
i would be shocked if the per processor price was over double last gen
its max 10 processors per node and 3 nodes
its a lot of hardware
look fam
its barely over a billion bucks to rent access to ibms system on the per second plan for 16k qbits
they wouldnt make it more expensive to buy than to rent it per second
even the craziest of companies wouldnt have compute 24/7/365
who is going to buy a 16kqubit system other then dod?
if they are a billion bucks, noone
and that would put single processor node at 28 million
but if they are ~30m per processor, high end education will go for them
which isnt crazy for 433 qubit
multiprocessor systems dont scale linearly with processor count
i know but with all the supporting compute its not that far off
i would be shocked if a fully kitted out tower cost over 100m for the 4k tower + all supporting infrastructure
including building and annual electricity costs which arent small

reBAR!
Yes that is well known
interesting that its not on by default in a lot of systems
well, better not to maybe
it causes some miscellaneous issues
yes its known and the reason why they recommend only cpus that support it
and its off because it can cause issues on other platforms
like causing lower fps
Only a fraction of people have Rebar enabled.
Yeah and intel GPUs make up an even tinier fraction of the market
Still if you make a completely new gpu architecture, it does make some sense to be a bit more forward looking in terms of platform features.
All new cpu's support it so the problem slowly fades away.
It's not like intel Alchemist matters to the market anyway other than getting something out on the market.
yeah I don't think it's that big of a deal not many people will buy alchemist anyway and hopefully those that will are aware of it's requirements
❤️ elon
I'm often very wrong when it comes to the stock market but at least I wasn't wrong about tesla being overvalued
most stocks are overvalued
at least in the tech space
pe ratios over 10 are kinda strange
I just thought tesla was always extremely egregious
pe ratios over 20 are mind boggling
intel is at 14 which is insanely high
amd is at 18 which is borderline stupid
teslas 46 is completely unhinged and it makes no sense
nvidia is also nearly that crazy at 43 tho
amd is down to 18? that was a lot more some time ago lol
yeee
so people were buying with the expectation of their earnings to catch up which they just about did
I don't think it's that crazy, the smp500's average p e ratio has mostly been above 20 in the last 30 years or so.
with low interests and lots of people doing stock it's makes sense
Just a graph for reference

Wendell from Level1Techs brought an AMD Instinct MI210 video card to our office to tear-down! He'll also be taking it back to his own studio to perform advanced testing on it, but while it's here, we get to look at the assembly, cooling solution, and PCB layout of this unique card...
when they took off the backplate
👀
the front plate connection is beautiful
screws for everything, but none of them are visible
sad its the single die version
aw not the 250? sad
maybe one ends up dead and we can get some die shots of that from fietzchen at some point
gonna be a few years for that lel
or we get lucky and one that dies during packaging or so gets out into the wild 😛
seems like it was that but only to some degree, former colleague working at the XR lab said it's basically just hitting people left and right so they didn't spare any areas
also here some intel chiplet cpu in closeup
oh missed that
idk why I didnt look there, should've known they have something up when the release drops
will be interresting to see what numbers amd shows tomorrow
if genoa-x launches alongside the general lineup, if not they will likely show the other cases where they win without bandwidth bottlenecks
genoa having avx 512 will take away alooooot of workloads from having intel advantages...
ya
hoes does SPR do it, do they have separate 512 pipelines or is it double pumping like zen4? cant remember
The process of a lot of these is rather crude but from personal experience in a company downsizing a lot after a partial bankruptcy, the smaller team that was left worked a lot more efficient. Simply because if you have to drop things, it will be the once with the least impact. Granted, not without side effects. I am looking at you irregular system updates, questionable backup verification and other things I just don't have the time for even years after.
hehe yeah I fully agree
intel's 512 are generally monolithic units that are split in half for avx1/2 and split into quarters for sse, and 8ths for regular
man I wish wikichip had the current gens in as much detail as some older gens
something like this is just so nice for a better understanding than just text to me
oh god that preview is unreadably tiny lol
oh chips and cheese has one for zen4 but dont think they covered SPR yet
dont think anyone has
they are currently only available under contract, not normally purchaseable
did they not even show it at hotchips?
feels like we first heard about it like 3 years ago officially already so I thought we would have some info already
I mean oficially as a product that is supposedly released soon
we dont get a single iota of details about an arch before it gets released on nvidia or heck even often within a while of release for apple
uhhh think last years hotchip we got alder lake before it was out?
but yeah usually not
Another AM5 Ryzen 7000 non-X CPU AMD is working on additional SKUs for AM5 socket. The initial launch of AMD Ryzen 7000 series has only included four X-Series SKUs, all considered high-end parts for gaming. my favourite jayztwocents video
Which wasn't even by jayztwocents
I guess jay is the best when he is not recording
its basically a reaction to a jayz video
or rather man slowly losing his sanity watching a jayz video
thats every other video from rossmen

I mean, most of the time he's not wrong
as someone who's worked a lot with electronics/soldering, it really is a painful video to watch though
Hmm last video after homework before bed it is
Me, 10 days ago, trying to finally start working on my thesis
Still didn't start
Already did the homework
Hence
After
Bit last minute tho since it's due tomorrow
Also luis is wrong about what the liquid metal is used for I think
Or maybe I missed something
pretty sure rossman got it near enough to correct
literally just consider it a vlog of an averagely tech savvy person having fun with hardware
as long as you dont consider them an authority on the causes for anything happening you are all good
Hmm I didn't know they used liquid metal in that way, if that's the case it's even more stupid than I thought
tho heres the totality of my jayz watch history
evga 4090 and when i was researching which 3090 to buy
I've only ever seen buildzoid do voltmods and he never does that
did rossmann say it was a volt mod?
i havent watched the vid since it was released and I cant watch it now
Yes
He said it's used to trick current sensing or sum shit
an ee would call it a volt mod
yea this is not a voltmod
voltmodding is literally changing the voltage
they used to use them in place of buying extra shunts for purposes of shunt modding
🤷 it works and is far more tuneable than actual shunts
its terrible for the card but it does in fact work
Yeah I'm not disputing the working part
what bz does is volt modding
Hardmods are kinda dope when the person has some idea of what they are doing

Hi I’m looking to order a wooting 60 HE, has anyone had experience with this on call of duty? Will I still benefit from the actuation reset? I’ve heard that you can’t use analog keyboards on cod as it recognises two different inputs or is the analog mode separate to the actuation reset benefit ? Thanks
Ask in another channel
Which channel is best for this ?
#archived_wooting_60he maybe or #🎮│game
Thanks
Please don't post the same question in multiple channels
My bad, I assumed it was okay since you mentioned both
"or" being the operative word. I've removed the duplicate for you 🙂
