security updates are a must for me
jumped in on pixels at the wrong time
ye but im getting those even if i dont get android updates
like i just installed one
literally xD
everything was going so well until the bugs started 😭
well some manufacturers don't do security updates for that long
especially the chinese ones
u still got the s10?
wasnt the 22 series the first with that?
yes they now just failed to make it work on their foundry node so the exynos was still shit
clocks only reached like 50% of what was expected or so
but I imagine they will still use it in future versions and probably get that done better
so 23rd might be better!
eh i wont buy another samsung anyway
im really liking my s21u, even all the samsung extras
im just missing the side button fingerprint reader and camera button of my sony phones
also no jack
I just hope one of this years iphones fit what I want because I need to upgrade from my old one
running into storage problems on the 16gb model
and I dont even know why
I hope apple sticks to usb c until the next time I need to upgrade since no one in the android space seems to give a shit about small phones
double tapping the power button for the camera works nicely too though
its why if my samsung breaks im back to sony
and inscreen fingerprint reader works well enough
I really wish I could see what is using so much storage but all apple tells you about it is that its cache or temp data
phone talk?
not buying anything sony until demon souls remake is on pc
^
oneplus fucked up a long time ago
I mean the oneplus nord family is basically what oneplus was all those years ago
since they started becoming more and more flagship with their main series, they made the nord to kinda bring back that old value
yup its sat somewhere in the living room xD
you could still get that repaired
yes buy the entirety of wooting
well I just finished building up my first keyboard
and make them make a 75%
wooting will be the second and last
60 or 2?
60!
it s good 😄
I heard so many good things so I kinda had to grab it
I think not only is wootings hardware good the software is also amazing
all other keyboards I had so far had terrible software
tbh I never used the software on other keyboards much - primarily because it sucked
but since I got the wooting for analogue controls in rocketleague I had to try the software and tbh I don't have many issues with it, also great since it's a 60% and remapping some things was required for me to be able to use it properly
Yeah, I had a corsair keyboard, and if I had the software installed, the keyboard would rapidly connect and disconnect
so I just uninstalled the software and never used it again, and that fixed it
the only thing I am sort of missing are macros but I don't need them very often to it's not a problem
i used ahk even with my razer
only downside was razer used a custom driver to use macro keys
with the wooting i can just read any keys hid code so no issues
I don't use one
I do not use one
Wouldn't spend to much
As long as it can output 45w
Oh I agree
I do have a powerbank from when I was in uni
26k baby
paperbank
Aukey
Elecjet PowerPie P20 I've seen floating around on discord
It purely depends if you're playing super demanding games while charging
Because the deck doesn't always need 45w to play and charge at the same time
I ll be playing need for speed most wanted 2005 so idk if that is that demanding I got about 3 hours out of the deck last time I played it
I just ordered one that advertises 15000 mAh and 45W PD 3.0
lets hope they are not lying otherwise I ll return the thing
one thing I wonder is why the steamdeck built in frame limiter is so ass in terms of input lag
like in windows rivatuner doesn't do that
why valve
Probably the vsync..?
rivatuner has a frame limiter that doesn't noticeably increase input lag
why can't valve manage that
Is that with vsync enabled or disabled?
disabled
Then yeah of course the deck limiter is gonna have slightly more latency since it enforces vsync, for now
slightly ..... capping frames at 60 on the deck is almost impossible to play for me in games that rely on fast reactions
Steam decks frame limiter is rivatuner or well equivalent ported
Huh
I don't notice input lag
like using rocket league on the deck capping frames to 60 in game vs in the steamdeck ui is a massive differnce
Uncapped 31.8ms
60 FPS cap 75.8ms
like
I just don't cap games which is fine but I wish I could for the sake of battery life
Apparently there was also a lot of focus put into making it have proper frame pacing which probably increases latency as well
such a clean Deck setup <3
why
y not
me too, found it meh, its a gaming device
SteamOS desktop is poo
why?cause its immutable?
ive not found a usecase for it.
I dont have the desk space for it ;-
desktop is fine but not designed for productivity works fine for installing non steam games
if I could use my monitor mount, to make the two screen hover then maybe
it also has too little memory for serious dev work
16GB of DDR5
yeah far too little
and its not ddr5
project im working on sometimes consumes 30GB
yeah it s LPDDR5
using 20GB now.
o
mongo, so much fun
webscale means webscale resource usage
heh
yeah dualboot when valve
what more do you need for regular usage than a webbrowser
Lot of things
Eh if I ever desire to run something more advanced I'll probably just set up a chroot or similar
yeah but what?
also I wish steamdeck had discord and spotify in the background while in gamemode
that would be so good
Just add them as non-steam games
I mean like spotify and discord integrated in the ... menu
Never
yeh, add them as non-Steam games, get some of the artwork for them on the website I forgot the name of rn
Valve would rather you use the Steam music player and Steamcord!
which fcking music player
Steam has a built in player, a not so well known secret
^
Well for web browser phone is enough why use desktop for that
yeah but u need to add your own music I assume so it's cringe
Yeah Volvo pls
I am not gonna buy this many songs
At least add MPRIS2 to the ... menu, maybe also integrate it with native notifications (unless it does that already..)
pls VOLVO
as a volvo owner, this triggers me :p
Does steam deck support Apple Music though?
LOL
If it runs in a web browser absolutely, if it doesn't then maybe
if its on the flathub repo or you can use the website in a chrome tab
why chrome, it comes with firefox by default! :p
Not anymore
they swapped over to letting you install firefox via flathub instead
due to faster updates
hm
i havent launched a webbrowser in a while on the deck i must say..
phone is usually faster to get to, and more convenient
and also faster to type on
typing on deck kinda sucks even tho I am on the desktop relatively frequently when I use it
its not great indeed
True
The OSK is crap, lacks many keys I desire and it also always shows up in front of the input box
touchpads typing works okay
For me even normal desktop kbs are as fast for typing as phone
i had an intern once.. 18yo or something, slow as fuck typing on a normal keyboard, but quite fast on a phone keyboard
Oh no...
a programmer intern
I mean that is fine
also had to teach him how to program
I type like 50-60wpm on both phone and pc kb
just type everything on a phone
Shoulda just made them write code on the phone then
that is not very fast
Well it is kinda fast for phone but slow for desktop
I think 60wpm is alright for coding
when coding you're not doing a lot of typing tbh
coding is measured in cp/s
yeah unless you manually type out html boilerplates you dont really type tons of things without break
if id interview someone for coding id have them search smth difficult on the web and copy paste the right solution
and with copilot you don't even have to type much to begin with
our company removed ssms boost and sql prompt for example
it was the worst thing they did if you ask me
all those scripts that I use for daily bugs, now I had to copy paste them from somewhere or just type them instead of using two letters for a shortcut
even if I would type 150wpm it wouldn't be even as close to as how you use shortcuts
I do 80 - 90 on monkeytype but yeah, that data is useless if you ask me
unless you work in a court or sth
I mean I type a bit slower but I'd rather be 5wpm if that would make my brain solve things faster so I know what to type instantly lol
apparently i am bout 60wpm
monkey keys put me at 90wpm which is odd cause I thought I can't type for shit
make it 1 minute for more accurate result
but yeah, typing.works is harder and I get 70+ there
thats probably a good idea
I'm just struggling rn cause I went from iso to ansi and keep on missing the enter key in normal use xD
typiong nonsense text also sucks
I hit 69 (nice) and I dont even do proper 10 finger typing since I just learned some cursed muscle memory driven 1-5 finger system lmfao
Why did you forsake the one true best keyboard layout
proper typing speed is usually determined over a good 30min duration
uhhhhh didn't feel like soldering swiches ngl, and they keyboard I liked didn't have iso hotswap 😦
at least for world champions its 30mins or an hr
I think, max I would go is sth like 5 minutes, afterwards I would be bored to death
well they compete for fast accurate typing anyway
so ur errors/corrections get taken into account
Holly shit Microsoft Teams is garbage.
On my father's laptop, it completely refuses to detect audio devices, greying out devices in the settings and only showing custom setup.
Workaround was to just use it in chrome and it just works.
You'd expect a Microsoft application to at leat be able to deal with the windows sound settings but no.
Yes
even though it's microsoft, you still need to authorize it to be able to use cam and mic...
that might be the case here, you can check it in the system settings
did u give teams access to that in the settings?
It's some restricted company account and it worked before, so unless it got messed up there it should be fine
also wouldn't teams prompt to ask for permission / warn it lacks the required permissions
Also that would apply to the microphone / webcam and not audio output
webcam works fine, audio output / input does not.
I hate Microsoft Teams, but still, I am using it on both Windows and MacOS and never had that problem
on windows it's even better as I can just mute the teams, not the other programs or I can just assign different output input to teams and etc
I remember having to use it at work once for a client and having trouble then.
For work we just use discord, which used to be fine, but now it keeps asking for phone verification, which can be akward when we ask people to create a separate discord for work stuff.
Well yea, that works for just voice / video calls but we use it mostly for chat as well.
Actually we do often use google meet out of an old habit for video calls
i use a pigeon to send still images to meetings
Yeah tons of lazy people in America what a suprise
This is why the August security patch is not available on Pixels yet, isnt it?
See I do like r/antiwork
Where business owners get fucked for belittling and taking advantage of minimal wage and disrespecting employee benefits
But google, meta employees?
Those people have an office job, probably great office environment, good salary
I don't see why a google employee would just not do his job
Ask Google why they said in the coming weeks
Lemme guess
Ye bought a Pixel
Again there is a ton of lazy people
Does not matter where you go you will find them
not doing the job in thier eyes could also just mean the workers dont do overtime and try a healthier live and they aren't managing for projects to not do overtime
not that they are actually not doing anything
Businesses would love a 7 days per week overtime shifts
and it gets patches when Pixels do
you'd think if these employees wouldn't do the work they are allotted they'd be fired
^
maybe they are exactly as valuable as they think they are
If I were to guess it goes down like this
So we need you on Saturday..
Nah
Why don't you work??
There is a supposed shortage of programmers
they know their value.
AMD Ryzen 7000 with memory improvements Some interesting details on next-gen AMD desktop platform have just been confirmed. The DDR5 memory optimizations for desktop Ryzen 7000 series codenamed “Raphael” have been revealed by a leaked Gigabyte BIOS for X670E motherboards, supposedly based on AGESA 1.0.0.1. Some enthusiasts, including the creato...
looking good sadly I will not buy it
Microsoft managed to issue a fix for the Windows 11 / Windows Server 2022 encryption vulnerability that makes use of the Vector Advanced Encryption Standard, but the patch is impacting CPU performance. Affected CPUs include Intel's 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th gen models, while AMD's affected models include Zen 3 and upcoming Zen 4 processors. Anot...
Win11 is just sad
This person said the sweet spot for Ryzen 5000 would be 4000
And that is very much not true
oof lol
yeah for all the time yuri spends on it he spouts a lot of things that arent true
Sweet spot is an imaginary term and you should buy RAM that is affordable and of good quality
ddr5 like ddr4 will become affordable even at good speeds
Not for Ryzen
If you go to slow it significantly slows down your CPU
If you go too fast it significantly slows down your cpu
Now let's find out if the new generation of Ryzen also works the same way
Announcement any day now
It's already confirmed to be that way forever pretty much
Unlikely with Zen 5
At least until they get off zen
Complete architectural rebuild
Nope
They are only rebuilding the parts
Theseus' ship is still a boat and all that
they have IF too so chances are they will
Zen 5 should have that really cool chip that I think Xilinx designed
Something about programmable CPU architecture that can be updated via patches
The programmable accelerators are attached to the cores
The cores are attached together via ring
And the rings are attached to the cache and iodie via infinity fabric
The programmable accelerators are not related to high level architecture
Infinity fabric is here to stay
As long as it's Zen, it's got infinity fabric
especially as long as they use chiplets all the way down the stack
I don't think they will ever go chiplet on the most mobile of mobile
oh yeah I was mostly thinking of desktop
As long as they don't go chiplet on the bottom they probably will still have some small monoliths available on desktop
not on any level where maxed out IF clock would matter I wager
Tru
But highest if clock and ram oc has still been on monoliths without exception yet
Is it true I can up the power that goes through the usb port that my keyboard uses so I can use a coiled cable?
On some keyboards, yes. In theory at least.
You shouldn't need to
You also shouldn't use coiled cables but here we are 😄
The keyboard with all features works fine, I just can't use the rgb though. If i do the keyboard starts to activate itself
Unless the cable is very very long or getting noticeably warm it won't be a power problem
If the cable is very low gauge it could be causing the voltage to drop too low?
Its a coiled cable so its very long
Over 15 feet?
This talk about chiplet vs monolithic does have me thinking, would chiplet CPU and monolith GPU = instant bottleneck provided it’s a low to mid range chip?
What
Actually nvm I’m stupid
CPUs themselves are “chiplet” ☠️
everything is packed together
Uhhh
Ik it’s a GPU concept
Time for some sleep fam
GPUs are monoliths because the energy loss from splitting up the GPU would push the GPUs past what is possible to cool
Eventually we will go back to chiplet GPUs like back in the early 3d days
But for now all that will get split up off from the main die is the memory controllers and then the GPU will be cut in half
It'll still be a monolith, there will just be two of them working together
Glue and all that
Nvidia was preparing for that with hopper but just didn't follow through with it
It looks like amd is actually gonna do it with rx 7000
Like the saying, old is gold
And I have no idea what Hopper is since I only entered tech space 2 years ago
H100
Released this year I'm pretty sure
Yep back in march
Even the a100 before that was split in half
Here's the h100
It actually has 96 but the last stack is always disabled for yield
I is stupid, what yield
Tbf these workstation class GPUs look like they could be a CPU themselves
It's hard to make chips
Some parts of the chip fail
That's yield
GPUs are aloooooooot bigger than cpus
They really are just thousands of bad CPUs on the same chip really
CPU - Issac Newton
GPU - Fibonacci sequence
mathematical calculations ability compared
Uh
GPU is just adding everything together, all the graphical elements
pieced into one displayed image or video (where they’re ever-changing)
CPU I used bathos, it’s just capable of BEDMAS
I don’t think they can do literal calculus (or at least when processing stuff normally, saw Flammable Maths code calculus equations)
That's really not right
GPUs can run any code it just takes a while
But because they have 1000-10000 cores they can run a lot of math at the same time
A CPU can run each math problem 5x as fast per core or potentially up to 12x faster
But a CPU only has a few cores generally up to 16 with a max of like 128
The weakest of modern GPUs have 1000 cores
But can multiple cores work on one solution?
like RAID storage
Stupid question I take that back
Depends on the problem you are working on
How else are they a single unit lmao
No I mean that's literally the question at the foundation of creating GPUs
And CPUs still exist simply because the answer is it depends instead of just yes
I mean it does have to keep track of multiple things like background processes, makes sense
GPUs keep track of a couple million pixels while rendering them lel
I heard the price of the 5800X3D will be reduced next month.I think the ZEN4 gaming perf will be amazing.
318
The price cut should be a no brainer
If 7800X3D slides into the same price range that h5800X3D had
my 5800x (no 3d) just arrived
I would if I needed to
but rx 6700xt is never gonna be cpu bottlenecked by regular 5800x
... never...?
I mean, that is a lower end card
But CPUs are currently main bottlenecks in gaming
and resolution
Lol what
€1,799 for cheapest Fold??
Current one costs 1,150.00 € here
How does that phone warrant such a massive price hike
introduction price is the same as the fold 3
ye I'm mostly gonna be playing comp games with low settings at 1080p so cpu is gonna be the bottleneck
but 5800x should be able to output consistent 280 fps which is my monitor rate

ummm
I mean...
for the gpu it's good for gpu bottlebecked games
but even a 5800x3d would be bottleneck with a high end gpu
it's always cpu anyway
ok I figured out a better way to word that: cpu is gonna be good enough for my needs
I have 3700x and 3080, apex legends is ok for constant 240-280 with very low settings
looks like sep 20 might be an announcement for workstation gpus if they dont do that at gamescom as well https://www.nvidia.com/gtc/session-catalog
i thought they had a quadro rtx line
One day you won't even need a station to work at
no it would be more like Volta, or like amd is doing with CDNA
splitting up the archs since they might be different enough to warrant being their own line
or like Hopper, idk why I blanked out that they already showed hopper earlier this year
They showed Hopper?
🤔
so....they use the money you dont spend to get Windows to give you an SSD instead? :D nice!
thats not what that means but sure
whats it mean?
it means it comes with ubuntu and u get a free ssd
I wonder if / what the gift is if you pick Windows now xd
depends on the oem pricing
hp sells laptops with either nos, freedos, ubuntu or windows preinstalled
for example
and other oems usually do the same offering their laptops with some os choice before it arrives in a store
u see pricing it like a windows version of the device and saying u get a free ssd would be some really evil marketing
because the ssd wouldnt be free
im just still happy I saved 100 on my laptop by choosing not to have an OS preinstalled
Yet it came with un-activated windows installed, I assume for them to test the laptop with
correct
also cause people are dumb and dont install drivers from the manufacturer and then complain about smth not working
I did immediately install Linux on it, LOL
I did install Windows back on it one day, cause I had to test a thing
And the touchpad didnt want to work, or the SD card slot
Had to ask the customer support to send me drivers for them, using my mouse from my computer until then for the install process
the drivers were made by them .-.
so I had to ask customer support to send me them cause they dont have a downloads page
i highly doubt that but sure lets go with it
ok, go find the PC Specialist touchpad and SD card slot drivers for me
but it’s your laptop not tony’s
yeh, I wanna see if he can find them witout needing to contact support xd
since he claims I could have done that
@fair gull i think lana’s baiting you into finding the download link
don’t go with it
i wont
she can ask windows update herself and she can also google the hardware id herself
I literally did that shit
not like pc specialist made the drivers
and looked online
unless they produced their own card reader and touchpad
the touchpad is most likely elan or synaptic cause no one else makes touchpads
You'd be surprised how many times I've had to give up looking for obscure laptop or OEM desktop drivers for XP/7 PCs.
and the sdcard reader is whatever garbage default reader
Driverbooster to the rescue, and then malwarescan afterwards to remove all the shit it gets in 😄
ya so u click optional downloads on windows update
yes i agree
yeah if its not there then as tony said windows updates optional features should have it
there wasnt any at that time
and even if thats not the case
it didnt detect the touchpad in device manager
u can akways google the hardware id
how tf do I find the hardware ID?
u right click the device in device manager
I SAID IT ALREADY, IT DIDNT SHOW UP IN DEVICE MANAGER
and it has to detect it otherwise it wouldnt be connected
cant find the hardware ID if it wont fucking show up anywhere within the OS
now u might not have checked the default ps2 mouse installed
and yes laptop keyboards and mice usually show up as ps2
there is a chance its connected internally via ps2?????!!!
a chance lol
O.o
most laptops show up that way
hhhhmmmmm
also why not
I assume drivers that work on win 10 would work on win 11?
id personally recommend 3dpchip
what laptop brand was that so i can avoid them?
I found out I do not need to contact support, you still need to login to your account on the website though to get your downloads page
so, its a lot better but still meh
yeah which brand? :p
pc specialist
ooh, thats a brand
the laptop is pretty damn good though
Other than touchpad being janky but that happens very little
and its so light and thin
forget its in my backpack sometimes cause I can barly feel it
like i said rebranded chinese oem
happens quiet often actually
the name "pc specialist" did not register as a name for me at first, just a type of shop :p
@halcyon moss its a heavily proprietary gaming computer company that is fixated on loans and such
i had the same drak but for me it was years ago
until i saw other brands
curiously with very similar design
so similar that only the sticker at the bottom and logo at the top were different
Its terrible that you ha e to have a log in to get drivers 👌
theres smth worse than all of this tho
oem pc bios/uefi
because u cant flash the original bios from asus/msi/whatever onto them
has to be signed by the same oem
so if they dont update it
ure fucked
Not really, just buy a new computor
well there is a way to fix it
either ure lucky and ur mobo has a bios flash header
or u have to desolder the bios chip and flash it
ugh...
ive had quiet a few of those
they all didnt run win10
cause the bios didnt have some update
ugh.. getting loans to get a computer :/
they offer paying more than full in monthly payments
1% lows where
ehh its pretty normal to only show average fps, all vendors do that
yeah it's normal but a380 benchmarks from some outlets have shown 1% lows to be terrible
with nvidia and amd I don't really worry about that so much
why are we still expecting intel drivers and perf to be onpar with years and years of development on nvidia/amd side
I am not
ya the important part is avg fps since hardware does that and drivers are the part that smoothes it for most parts
^
like drivers can fuck avg fps but id assume intel wouldnt fuck it up that bad
we will see if this project even continues to get driver support
Aye, I agree the important part is the averages.
Intels got a nig budget and a big team. Its not impossible they can bring in something fresh. But best to remain skeptical.
I am sceptical they won't do a google
ngl idk what doing a google is
killing a product after releasing it
Killing projects
build a websearch engine inside a lego rack and become a multi billion dollar company?
oh the killing part
this was a legitimately cool idea
Rip Stadia
good riddance
The biggest rip is all the people that bought Stadia hardware bundles
yea stadia was setup for failure
Literally dead hardware they paid a small fortune for
whoever bought into stadia was not very smart to begin with
"a fool and his money are soon parted"
"negative latency"
geforce now is superior in almost every way compared to stadia
Question is why Stadia is failing
Yet GNow is not bad
Stadia was really affordable
because you can buy games that stay with your steam
Just lack of games or what
stadia you had to buy all the games you like playing again for stadia
and you also couldn't be sure google wouldn't just kill the service
and suprise
they did
google shouldve asked google
We're revisiting Google Stadia in 2020, testing Stadia lag, latency, and whether the game streaming service is 'worth it.' Google promised "negative latency" with the controller. We're testing it.

Google promised "negative latency" with the controller.
like

clearly they can defy physics smh
Is negative latency the phenomena when the hardware is so shit that it's no longer about how much the machine takes time to respond, but you trying to figure out how to even use the hardware?
I mean the stadia thing was nice for amd stock but anyone who knows google would have known to be cautious in the very least
Right if I remember correctly, Stadia was using Vega 64 or something like that
it was only viable for people who didn't already own hardware or games at all
yep it used vega gpus
Not a great GPU but that's what they had at the time
at the time I wanted to buy amd stock so badly would have been a pretty good decision
I will forever hate myself for not getting 2.500$ paycheck back in 2017 and not investing into AMD
Would have been a 20x or something like that
if I had any faith in intel to stay in the gpu space i might buy their stock but alas
I do not
Intel's heavily investing into fab space
They got the CHIP act supporting them so new foundries in America
And I heard they are building one or two in Europe
One's in Italy
3 years isn't just after release >.>
Intel could be a decent investment for the future
They won't fall off at all, still a prospective company
But their mid-term prospects are... eh?
intel imo is undervalued but it'll have to drop a bit more for me to buy
Long term yeah they are building for fortune
All of those fabs they are planning to launch in like 2027
Also every company has tons of projects that die off
Or don't go anywhere
Google is just so super large irs just gomna have a larger percentage. So i don't see anything special
I think it's an issue with google company culture
I don't think any other company has so many products they just kill
First of all valve
But second of all, a complete and utter failure for Google is a product used by only a few million people
They are on just a crazy scale that is hard to comprehend
uh no not valve
not even close
Valve has canceled about 30 completed games
And about 15 wip ones
In the time that they released 2
That's verifiably not true
So honestly Valve cancelling projects doesn't count
Google is more of a think tank than valve...
The difference is that we don't even know most of the things Valve cancels, whereas Google releases them and then kills them
Although... Artifact.. Underlords, both abandoned... not looking so good lately!
Valve's too fragmented
Lol
Although lately at least they seem to have stepped up with management
So they are prioritizing certain projects
Which is why like half the company is on hardware
Steam is also kinda crap, full of abandoned half broken features, and issues that will never be fixed
You only say that because it's externally visible
Most companies are significantly more fragmented
Especially Google
I would argue that Google is the most obviously externally visible fragmented company
most recent annoyance I had with steam is that they apparently use gpu acceleration to draw friendslist and such...
Everything is GPU accelerated now
well if I have discord on my second screen it doesnt drop my game fps, if I have the friendslist there it does drop quite a bit
and quite a bit, 140 to 110 in this area and its very noticeable
It's just basic 2D stuff how can it not run at a billion FPS (and thus not reduce framerates in anything actually intense)
did I say projects or products
hint
there is a differnce
google cancels things customers are using
the only things like that I am aware of is steam machines which still work perfectly fine as pcs and the steam controller
Relative to the size of Google's customer base, the percentage of people using them rounds to zero
?????????? I don't see how that matters at all
I'm aware, that's why I'm trying to explain
so it is okay that they will cancel a service like stadia that people invested money into
So valves process goes dev, internal testing, "external testing" by the family of the devs
leaves customers not wating to get in early on google products
and yet valve is nothing like google in this aspect
Google's process goes dev, internal testing, external testing with a limited number of users
The problem is people are paying money for it
That's the only difference
🤷♂️
imagine this: people don't trust your services you release to stick around then - you release something that might be a great idea in theory - a game streaming service. People do not trust you not to kill it so they do not engage with your product.
If it is a good enough idea for Google to pursue it, hundreds of millions of people will use it
No?
That's not high for Google lmao
Google Stadia also had around 750,000 monthly active users in 2020, according to the @BusinessInsider report. Google reportedly missed a target of 1 million monthly active users https://t.co/najlnnArLT
k dude
Thank you for proving my point
What?
750k is a solid amount
alright
what is even the argument here
Idiots arguing, what's more to it
The argument is
Me: Google will cancel projects if there aren't many people using it from Google's pov
Artorias: look at stadia it has lots of users
Stadia : peaked at 750k
That is nothing for Google
Their flagship product is used more times daily than there are people on the planet
Yes
Google has canned most projects as soon as they haven't grown for a year or have less than a hundred million users
I am done arguing with you
Happy to help
time for better discord
Once again : size of the company is going to dictate the amount of projects that open/close
Its not rocket science
Small company close small amount of projects
Big company close big amount of projects
Google big
Google killing big amount of projects is no wow factor
And what Google considers a failure would be a huge success for a smaller company...

"Nvidia CFO Colette Kress pointed out on the company's fiscal 2022 third-quarter earnings conference call that its cloud gaming service, GeForce NOW, has more than doubled its membership in the past year to over 14 million subscribers. It is worth noting that GeForce NOW had nearly 10 million subscribers in March this year, and that number had increased to 12 million by the end of September."
Yes it's probably the finest videogame streaming thingamajig
it sucks for anything past 60hz tho
Did they make it worse?
Back in the beta it was great at 120
@cursive summit by Google's standards it's probably not time to can it yet stince it's still growing
I was having memory problems and blue screens on my PC after updating BIOS, now I noticed it's CSM enabled in the BIOS and I made it UEFI. I know that UEFI is needed for Win11 installation, but it didn't allow to install if CSM was enabled... So my question is, is it possible that the memory problems and all the other mambo jambo are caused by CSM?
not really
I thought so
I don't wanna buy a new ram
I disabled XMP profiles too but didn't work
Right now pc works without bluescreens or stupid stuff happening but memory diagnostic still finds problems
¨Hardware problems were detected. To identify and repair these problems, you will need to contact the computer manufacturer¨
ok one last piece of data for anyone who might know more and be able to help maybe, it started with this and afterward got other errors.
Aye, after beta it was capped
Ew
Sigh, when I move room I may end up having to move to gigabit powerline adapters or worst case WiFi
Wifi 6e is pretty goated...
All of these cool connectivity technologies maturing and getting better
Yet Bluetooth..
Bluetooth remains bluetooth
you must be living under a rock
there's lots of advancements going on in the bluetooth space
Ring me when any of them actually make a difference
Yes I am very well aware of "lossless" aptX
except latency will always be worse than a cable, wifi killed my online gaming.
BT LE is pretty cool..
LE audio
Did you run a memory test, memory might be dying
BT is still very inefficient
It's just not a good technology yet
Maybe in another decade
Bluetooth is great i dunno what ur talking about
How is Bluetooth "great"
its a pretty good technology to pair a ton of different devices wirelessly
it supports headphones, mics, mice, keyboards, controllers and a bunch of other shit i can't even think of
But not for gaming where you need low latency
its really versatile
bluetooth was never intended for gaming lol
You don't need BT to have a wireless connection
Tell me what PS controllers run on
And as far as connections go BT is slow af
Receiver wireless
as it is with most wireless gaming peripherals
PS controllers connect to PC via bluetooth but they use a different way to connect to your playstation lol
bluetooth is just a backup and it coincidentally works on your PC
Bluetooth isn’t that power efficient which is what I understand
thats why bluetooth LE is in the make now...
The most broken, inefficient shit on Windows
actually already exists and is getting adopted
That's actually not true
Had to live with that when I got my first pair of wireless headphones from “Santa”
Not quite true
wireless will always be slower than a fiber cable
Not true actually
Also no
Nope
We’re just not that far ahead in the future yet
there's definitely more resistance in air
where it’s faster
Nope
I dunno how but my mouse just feels better wireless than wired
Well internet is never truly wireless
lets not forget most people dont sit in the same room as their router
For one, routers are wired
Speed of light through air is faster than either copper or fiber
That’s where the wifi is broadcasted from
And wireless peripherals like I mentioned, also have wires inside like the meme about them
But that's besides the point
Yea yea
Media conversion is what adds most latency these days
fair
As far as wireless goes
Something like this is faster than 99% of wired keyboards https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/innovation/lightspeed.html
True
where did u get that metric from
depends on what keyboard
beg to differ a lot of boards focused on speed/latency are faster than this one....
the mice connected via Lightspeed have been tested to be slower than the Wooting 60HE
Nope
stats?
RTINGS, TechPowerUp
Now for wired, G915 is still faster than wireless
Tbf they actually do have problems with latency measuring, you could check TechPowerUp
Check the Corsair K65 RGB Mini - 0.1ms by RTINGS sayings
Huh
Part of the 1%
Ye
There are experiments to do 8khz wireless using hacked Logitech dongles and they are pretty much already working
Those people that bought the Razer Viper 8K for only the 8Khz polling smh
I see the lag that 8khz causes my system lel
I only did it for the ambidextrous option and experimenting with 8K
Huh I wonder how fast my mouse can go
But limit of perception is 20khz
So that's the target for everything 🤷♂️
one friend was left handed so
I don't even know what it's set to rn
What mouse you got
model o best mouse
Viper Ultimate
Standard 1000hz
That's fine
New Viper V2 Pro got a 4000hz wireless polling dongle recently
Set to work with upcoming Razer Deathadder V3 Pro too
I was gonna buy Model D Pro but no bluetooth and 150 eur inc shipping and tax
kinda shit
There are better depending on the purpose but good all rounder
Aaaanyways with modern wifi you are getting faster than gigabit latency especially for larger packet sizes simply due to the data rate
And that's even with doubletransmission...
8000khz makes a difference at extremely high FPS, but since your average gamer is probably 120fps at most it won't matter much
yeah I did, ¨Hardware problems were detected. To identify and repair these problems, you will need to contact the computer manufacturer¨ that was the message but the first one I did couldn't write the log data for some reason (it might have to do with CSM maybe, just guessing) but then I didn't wait for it. Tomorrow I will run it again fully and see if it can write the log data now that I changed to UEFI
Yeah, best disable CSM, but an error with the PCs ability to write to RAM sounds like you might need to get warranty on your RAM sticks if you still can, or buy new sticks
Who's ready for ZEN 4 to be release
I would bet , you would be more likely to get a answer from someone in general
A lot of people have the keyboard #🔧│keyboard_modding

Loving my new tws set
Bloody massive, innit?
Yuup
My xm4s cowering in fear in the back there are the absolute size of these units
My earbuds are smol af
These very likely sound better...
For sure
At 8000 kfps
Oof that case is huge
The sound is also huge
Microstutter occurs at fps larger then 120fps, getting worse as monitor refresh goes up.
Once again though, most people wont really notice unless they are ultra sweaty headshotting masters
Yeah microstuter is visible
With 1000hz
But I don’t see the point of 8000hz
Maybe you could argue 2000 could be nice for 240hz
But why more
Yes but in that case just get headphones
If it's visible on a 120hz at 1000, you need at least 2000 for 120
4000 for 240 by that logic
What headphones
And especially not 8000khz
If 4000hz is nescessary, 8000 will be soon
Wouldn’t this microstutter be fixed by mouse just running at like 960 instead of 1000hz?
No
Why?
It would turn the stutter into jitter which is aloooooot worse
8000 was probably picked because might as well
Anyways the stutter with 1khz is so small I really doubt 2khz for 240hz would be an issue
Anyways the mouse sensors are already running at 10-20khz
As I said, 8k probably only matters for actual pros
The only reason we don't just directly feed that to the computer is the USB stack is not meant to handle that many packets
I don’t think 8k matters to pros at current refresh rates
The small performance impact is probably more significant than the advantage
Sure it may matter in the future
But
The only reason it doesn't matter for pros is games don't render over 800 fps
It’s not the future for pros yet either
Indeed. If they would then it maybe would matter but they don’t
It will be by '26
That's when the first 1khz monitors are scheduled to release on the current roadmap
Many do
if you wait to release the first 8khz product till the first 1khz monitor comes you are also not leaving any time for devs to fix issues on games that couldnt handle it before etc.
Being accustomed to the mouse is more important than the mouse itself as zowie has proven
and yes in 4 years pros often still have the same mouse
i have one, it still is a good idea
I got my 60 he but it won’t work on my console
Normal keyboard functionality should
Anything but double movement if onboard memory is enabled, I’m sure
To clarify it works as a regular keyboard on consoles. But you need to disable the virtual analog controller.
No double movement with the XIM workaround.
Thx
that shows the C: drive only
Cause it's saying that disk is using just 3% here
And clearly the F: is being 36% used
And the 3% matches the C: in the same task manager tab
on what scale is the 3%
it even has a tooltip
Hhhmmm
3% of max speed of the c drive? that could be 36% on the f drive
Apparently it's 3% of the max speed of all the connected drives put together
According to that tooltip
and those percentages are guestimations at best
Is it possible to disable the individual circuit breakers for each room and only make them turn off the power to the whole house if the main one is triggered?
I want to disable mom's ability to turn off power to my room whenever she thinks I'm on my computer -.-
Cause there is a circuit breaker for each room
So how do I make only the main one do something?
the solution is to have a good relationship with your mother
Thats not possible
She hates me too much
yes by knowing what you are doing so you dont instantly kill yourself by rewiring the fuses in the wrong order
just don't do that and tough it out
that wont happen
I think stuff like that usually just results in file corruption
yes you could lose data but nothing will break from power loss
Sneak in one of those UPS thingies
Nice thanks
Dunno if sudden power loss is good for the PSU
Doubt it is
UPS is pretty cheap nowadays and really useful
yeah the psu might complain but will still be fine for quite some time
you could def get a ups just don't expect it to be able to power your pc for long
It's not meant for that
UPS is literally so you get a few minutes extra to save your data
It's not an auxiliary power generator
technically SSDs and such could end up with breakdowns but for the most part the psu would take the hit and the left over power still in a capacitor would be enough to shut it down
For how affordable UPS'ses are, if your area is prone to electricity losses
Ngl, it's not a bad investment
definitely is worth it
tried to get my friend from bulgaria to get one since he has relatively frequent power outages
it's good for power outages and brown outs
brown outs and power surges are definitely more harmful than total blackout
UPS should protect from that
Since all electricity goes directly into it, no?
But do you want an amazon business account?
You can pretend to be a business and maybe get better service
and deal with more tax stuff, fun!
How dare you, cancel prime 😠
B-b-but PRIME!
Don't you like all of your twitch benefits?
Free subs, skins for games you will never play?
not worth paying 10€ more
I would watch the boys or the expanse but I can just ask my dad for his prime to watch it
Alright hear me out
You will have to resubscribe cause this is insane value
Audible
AUDIOBOOKS MAN
LITERALLY INSANE
prime was pretty good value ngl but increasing the price makes it really unattractive for me
Imagine not subscribing to Prime just cause of Audible
I still have 20 million warhammer 40k audiobooks that I still have yet to listen to
and at this point in my life I'd rather read the books than listen to them
You drive a hard bargain, not friend
Look Jeff will give you one last chance
Amazon Music
All the songs you will never listen to
Subscribe.back.to.Prime
prime music is nice but sadly I am already all in on spotify
What happens if the phone battery gets too hot??
It says don't get it above 45C but it gets really close when charging and using hotspot
The protection will kick in and your phone will probably complain it's getting too hot and start seriously throttling
Oh
spontaneous combustion
Or that, depending on phone
There be a reason why transportation have super restrictions on phone batteries
well deffo faster degradation
Some phones don't report it, but ampere will read it if they do
battery health is smth you cant report all too easily anyway
ud use a tool that runs a few days in the background to log it so the phone can log charge and powerdraw
Ampere doesnt show me health
39 is just slightly above pocket temperature
@halcyon moss why the profile pic
i wanted something else than the pcmr mascot
but i liked the yellow.
and.... i dont see it as i use the compact view
Yup, compact is the way to go
so u dont know how batteries work
good to know
and it was easy to make
??
it says maximum capacity
is that the health?
the health is how much power your battery actually delivers
iphones basically monitor it which is how they provide battery health
The health is how much of the total mAh it can hold at max charge
that would be the shittiest indicator of health cause ur battery could be lying
and just drop from 60 to 20percent charge
Say if the battery can hold 4200mAh brand new
And over time it drops to only being able to hold 4000mAh
It would have lost health and that's how the iPhone gets the %
better battery health would be (actually used mAh)/(rated mAh)
I'm wondering if the app updates thay value if the health goes down or will it always display this same value since thahs the battery's max capacity regardless of health
