Regarding Steam vs. "Epic":
I don't dislike Epic just because they're small; rather, they have a very rocky history from the creation of "TwoWeeks" and their store/launcher and continue to alienate some groups of gamers, including Linux users and people with poor PC specs and/or network connectivity.
Meanwhile, although Steam is definitely quite large (not quite monopoly large but definitely the largest player), and I don't doubt they could've done some bad things in the past, they've also made their games, software, and store accessible to all three major operating systems, and their launcher can be used reasonably well even without much bandwidth or hardware capability, and I think that's pretty cool of them.

Emerus is a bit better for regular track racing, Krieger a bit better for stunt racing
Vagner is a bit slower than both but costs like less than half and if you’re a good driver you’ll out run most kids in their Kriegers/Emeruses (Emerii?)
Also Vagner is quite a bit smoother with off-road tires

A few old SSD prototypes used to do this thing called load stacking, but it never made it into anything production.
Basically someone tried to do a DDR style SSD.
Use one location to store multiple bits, was super expensive, extremely hard to make, and very fucky.
But then someone else decided to just start stacking NAND and it never got used for anything.
Other issue with load stacking SSDs was they needed dedicated controllers to even work because the data access was done with algorithmic expression, like file compression.
This was very expensive, made no actual sense, and was just a poor implementation.
Slow af, too, but no idea if that could have ever been fixed.

Yeh. I do crypto mining so power is a non issue for me, and the expense comes in my software.
The drives are a one off, and they'll last for years, but I need to run a domain, be signed with Cloudflare on a new TLD for my media, buy two internet connections, one specifically for Plex and... sailing, with the other for my primary, and that connection needs to be upload heavy which means either business or enterprise, various software will add up, and large scale automation that won't break will actually take me months.
The internet lines alone are actually going to take weeks once I have them both installed in the new house.
Mmmm. I should probably just start work on my eventual Proxmox Threadripper/Epyc server so I can have everything cleanly in containers.
