Game never looked good or fun to me but I never hated it or anything so I feel a bit bad for the developers.
Though I don't think it failed because of «hate campaign trolls» or anything like that. The marketing for the game was weak. It's a hero shooter which is a very hard genre to do well in, more games fail than succeed here and I have seen many games fail the past decade. The game also just doesn't look particularly interesting.

Ironically I think it would have fared even worse without the TGA controversy because people being mad at it being the final big TGA reveal probably contributed somewhat to the player count. Had it not been there the game would have even fewer players now probably

Definitely. Without tga only a fraction woulda even tried it. It was a bad concept with no real direction. It felt like they just looked at graphs and tried to mix shit that was individually doing well on paper

Even if I think the hero designs were uninspired, visually the game looked decent

The only thing that was funny about it for me is "From the developers of Apex Legends and Titanfall" where there was like 5 people from them at most, so I had a hunch it'll end up like with "From developers of Left 4 Dead" in case of Back 4 Blood
But yeah, devs were competent, just clearly didn't had enough time to polish the game or make beta playtests to gather feedback

In Silent Hill the Short Message, a short shitty SH game set in Germany that released 2 years ago or something, they retconned it into being some «Silent Hill phenomenon» where fog appears to people that experience various delusions based on trauma or whatever, which is absolutely a retcon that contradicts the earlier games. The fog in the town of Silent Hill is a real natural phenomenon of the town and everybody sees it, and it is unrelated to seeing monsters etc.
