Oh god. Blizzard used really crappy AI upscaling on the 3D renderings. The intro looks so so bad.

Animations also seem... slow in W1 when compared to the OG graphics toggle.

Like going from 20 to 60 FPS instantly. Much more smooth.

TLDR; Very lazy "remaster". Lots of AI upscaling use, no rebalancing or meaningful added QoL.
Only buy if you really want to replay W1 in original graphics and with some minimal QoL for selecting more units at a time and having two mouse buttons. Don't expect any improvement in the AI or pathfinding.

Third party clients have more content.

I've disconnected my brain, and am just going through the campaign for the gameplay. The boss fights can be pretty fun. Like the souls series, but less punishing.

I have no issues having a companion forced on me that comes out as non-binary halfway through the game. But I can see why people feel it's being forced on them - because it kind of is. You can't choose to not recruit someone, and you can't disagree with them. There's no room for a difference of opinion or any conflict.

But having said that - It's like one cutscene and occasional minor references. You're not sitting through an entire movie of "coming out to my parents"

I like that there's so much variety in the combat that's there. My first playthrough attempt was a mage who went up close with daggers and explosions. My current one is legolas - I almost never go up close and I can slow down time while aiming for heads as I build up my meters.

I wish the MC was less bland though - Every companion makes you feel like you're the sidekick, since they each have some epic quest to undertake.

Speaking of Veilguard. I may have finally found out why it would crash randomly, and why Crusader Kings 3 would outright freeze my PC.

I had to take out my RAM to reset the CMOS (Which is behind the GPU, whee) - And since I use a riser cable and a vertical GPU mount, I had to lift it out while wiggling a screwdriver. I pulled the riser and reinserted it last night, and... so far not a single random crash? Hope it stays like that.

Getting real tired of having PC trouble for a year on and off 😄

Well the enemy respawn is too often, and after a while it just becomes a chore especially once you defeat "boses" that are a bit harder than those endless spawns

It is comically often at some points

That combined with the regenerating health bar does not even make it scary since you can just wait a bit before taking your next step which will more likely than not spawn more enemies...

Veilguard has plenty of pacing problems though. Every - single - time you finish one mission, another four pop up. And if you actually want a good ending with all companions happy, you gotta go talk to them constantly, because some things will vanish if ignored.

(And then there's the complete lack of agency and meaningful choices, but that's more of a Nu WRPG issue it seems)

Personally feel like different endings and choices, not always the best things. Rather just stick with different quest outcomes and keep choices small, than have lots of meaningless choices.
