Bethesda managed to make a not buggy game

I just really wish combat AI is good, cause they looked dumb

The guy confirmed that you can actually fly between the planets yourself, you aren't forced to open a menu to FTL travel

But transitions are still cutscenes

At least you can actually freewalk in space, that might be fun

So space is an actual massive map that you can freely explore and fly between planets manually

They also fixed 3rd person combat, now shooting is over the shoulder akin to Resident Evil

I think the best thing is that this is running on a console at 30fps

Now the footage looks nothing like 30fps lol, it looks hella smooth

I'll be Frank, I really thought that was going super buggy on release, but it seems to be working. Hard to deal the graphics from the phone camera, but from pre-release footage before it really didn't look all that impressive for a 30FPS game, and they probably could have pushed it up to 60 if the engine wasn't garbage. I wonder if the AI's limitations are also due to the engine? That doesn't seem likely but it might be that doing too advanced of an AI in these open world games might have just hit the game too hard with the unoptimzed engine?

Bethesda actually has a pretty advanced AI logic system

Now, pathfinding? That used to be navmesh based and very easily exploitable

Just hop somewhere where AI doesn't navmesh

But the logic system is actually incredibly advanced

Why it was quite stupid in Fallout 4 was because Bethesda artificially nerfed the AI cause it was too good

You can remove the limiters and AI suddenly gains the ability to flank, ambush and coordinate attacks in teams

I really hope they removed the limiters cause come on man, we deserve good AI

But I don't expect them to have reworked the pathfinding to be not navmesh based, navmesh is from gamebryo days and it'd prolly take a whole new engine to move away from that

30fps looks smooth on video, it's a different thing when you're actually looking around yourself and doing stuff

Navmesh as pathfinding is not really a limit or the reason why it can be exploited

You can prevent issue sie exploits to the ai while staying navmesh based

Where the problems with navmesh start is that it doesn't extend beyond terrain much

Terrain generally works fine

But once you add objects, pathfinding takes a dump

While Wyll's quest is permanently telling you to "go talk to Ravengard"||

So what I did

||I transformed at the end into an Illithid, freed Orpheus, he gets sanctuary and globe of invulnerability, sanctuary being a bonus action. At the top of the brain, I cast sanctuary on my main character, who's an illithid, and then cast globe on the others so they are permanently invulnerable. The illithid main is so damn fast cause he has teleportation + fly, that he can run from the starting area to the brain in 1 turn, and also start the "subdue the brain" spell. But because sanctuary is active, none of the enemies can interrupt it cause you are invulnerable||.
