DMS will forever have a spot in his reputation after the LTT shilling video

That makes it more understandable that he's so obviously unprepared and contradictionary

#

hd480 pro on taobao is only $50 more than Crinear Reference

#

that makes the choice harder

#

Reference is more portable but there's no guarantee it will have the same comfort as the 480 (since 480 uses the same chasis as 490 but no grill).

I wish I didn't always live on the opposite end of where these things happen

Waow, the regular bag from non pro plus looks soo dinky

I do like this though, my problem with the 490 bag is that it's too thick to accomodate the extra earpads, this one just have 1.

and only $50 extra

round lagoon

hmm, it's actually $100 less compared to the hd480 in my currency. At the same time, unlike iem, headphone is easier to repair and I want to bring the closed back/iem around.

The pro 3s I use are 250 retail and honestly are already pretty good, I don’t get why you’d pay double for dismissing returns on anc.

is apple using the wide aspect ratio?

I like the passport layout

#

It’s basically a surface duo

round lagoon

Since it's mini, it basically have little to worry about app compat, just draw it like the mini if it doesn't have a fold specific look.

sinful swift
#

Aye I think that was the idea on apples side

vague sparrow
#

The thing is that it cannot really replace an ipad once unfolded I guess

sinful swift
#

Tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if this is why the new mini was only a small, refresh

#

Not really a whole new product

sinful swift
vague sparrow
#

Ipad mini?

sinful swift
#

Aye, the iPad mini could be easily replaced with this. EXCEPT COST I guess would be a big issue

#

I take it back

#

The iPad mini is too affordable to be replaced with a 1k+ phone

vague sparrow
#

Yeah having a device that can be used both as a phone and and ipad is nice actually

#

Well but then you have a phone + an ipad mini in a single device

sinful swift
#

I’d pay the extra as well

vague sparrow
#

The thing is that I dont feel at ease with a 1k phone

#

Too afraid to lose it

#

Or break it

#

Ot get it stolen

#

I prefer having an ipad at home

sinful swift
#

I mean the same could be said with an iPhone pro or an iPad Pro on college campuses

vague sparrow
#

And a cheap phone

vague sparrow
sinful swift

Most pf the iPad airs are students I’m assuming who take em out and about like me

round lagoon
sinful swift

Basically yeah

#

It’s a risk sure but it’s pretty convenient

winged pewter
#

I don’t think I’ve ever gotten an iPhone stolen

sinful swift
#

I’d get one and just buy apple care too

#

It would same money getting care for one device instead of two

vague sparrow
#

The thing is that I tend to break a lot of stuff

#

Phone I drop them too often

crude talon
#

take better care of your things
but yeah definitely not a good idea with a fold if thats the case

sinful swift
round lagoon
#

I'm planning to get the next iphone pro if same price, the only thing I'm worried is just bringing it around. While expensive IEM can easily be mistaken for cheap, can't say the same for iphone and such.

sinful swift
#

There are Samsungs that are far nicer and more expensive hardware wise

vague sparrow

I even drop an iphone in the toilet because I was watching world cup šŸ˜‚

#

Guess what I turned it off for 48 hours and it worked again

#

Tbh maybe I’m spoiled by my area but people don’t really steal phones as much anymore. Its all to essy to just remotely brick or track the phone

winged pewter
#

Did u see the law?

round lagoon
#

I am thinking of getting another table for my 'computer' room

#

But that also means I could use that space for a speaker setup

vague sparrow
#

Ok apparently steam machine and controller might come out soon

round lagoon
#

Crinear Reference at home

#

Since I don't have the Reference, I just use hd490 and try to match that. Treble might need to be more forward, but mids is pretty close. Bass is good enough but I feel like it's still lacking body compared to the 490.

#

I think I know why, I cut too much of the bass

#

Actually, maybe the divine by itself is already pretty nice for an IEM, I just remove the hiss and increase the mids. Then add in treble to counteract the -2db preamp.

#

It by itself should reduce the bass' level to an acceptable amount

ivory tiger
#

And I understand absolutely nothingdogekek

#

I don't even think I could hear much of a difference

The conclusion for me might be, I better off with hd480 pro despite it being $100 extra if I want something on the go and closed back.

It's possible I would really like JM-1 by just giving it more of a bass shelf but idk. I don't have any in-ears anymore so I can't try

quasi field

in a more controlled environment at least than what PEQdB is doing

because even to me JM1 doesnt sound as good as harman or even peqdb diamond beta

which is why I am skeptical

quasi field

Giga truthnuke at 12:12:

So there really is no scientific basis that these target curves sound good at all. And on the contrary, there is clear scientific evidence that these target curves are not preferred by listeners. And if you are to argue that, oh, it's meant to sound reference and flat, not the most preferred. Well, in a blind listening test, it has been found that anechoically flat speakers, which are quote unquote reference, sound the best. So, it should follow that whatever sounds the best for headphones is also perceptually neutral

#

That's what I keep saying!
Neutral (which is basically synonymous with high fidelity and good), sounds good. If it sounds boring, then it's not neutral

round lagoon
#

I see. Noice

obtuse dove

also because artists mix and master using studio monitors that are verly likely calibrated flat when they work in a professional music studio, so it sounds closer to what the artists intended.

Try that with any modern device, like a gaming keyboard and watch the fun unfold.

yea, had a mouse, keyboard and 2 controllers on a hub plus the hdmi for the tv

astral musk

Signal loss becomes an increasing issue with every inch past a certain length. Demanding better cables with tighter tolerances and so on.

You CAN buy cables of that length, but they get pricy and thick. And you might as well just convert it back and forth.

HDMI over 20m must be optical then, otherwise it will lose signal integrity SwitchySippy

No lol, thats shallow waters as far as spending on a hobby goes and HM gives you 12 years warranty on that chair btw. Full promise you are gonna have the best of the best for 12 years and its gonna work. Used you can also get older models from 300-500 easily. Its so worth it

sharp fiber
sharp fiber
junior thicket
sharp fiber
#

Its not about comfort, most people that dont have good posture actually complain about Aerons because it forces you to sit better. Its about health.

Again, i spent 1.2k because i wanted every feature and black instead of grey, you can easily get used millers for 300-500. Most people will go through a number of chairs in their life. Health is and will always be an investment

bitter sapphire
#

1200€ is my monthly paycheck dogekek

#

And its me but i would not buy used chairs

junior thicket
#

And that's what I'm saying. It's valid, but not everyone can just do it. Getting a good chair that does the same is a good start. Later down the road you can still spend 1,2k for a chair. As a teen or a young worker you just don't have the cash.

sharp fiber
#

You can always check used things out in person, gpus etc

#

Used market is great in a lot of areas and its very worth it, you can also transfer warranties for so many products

bitter sapphire
#

Its me but i dont need a 1200€ chair to fix my posture

sharp fiber

Me neither, i never had bad posture to begin with, but its an amazing chair and i have went through other chairs before that just start wearing out a lot. This shit just lasts and i have insurance that it will for 12 years

bitter sapphire
#

I mean i always reseated myself in my chair to fix my posture

#

Idk its me maybe but my parents teached me how to sit in a chair
