Due to the tight tolerances, the springs can start rubbing against the bottom housing after some time of use and you can physically feel it. Some people experience it and some don't. If you’re sensitive to this kind of stuff, it's probably better to choose different switches.

2. Remove the top case
3. Lift the module

I agree. But do take it apart and make sure that the cable is properly in the the socket. The cable is quite stiff and when it goes back together it has a tendency to move itself and unseat itself slightly.

I'm really new to all of this, but after watching videos I think i prefer deep thocky sounding switches. I've also been seeing a lot of stuff about "stem wobble" which I'd like to avoid as much as possible.
Which switches would be the most "thocky"/deep sounding but also have the least amount of wobble?

With the right build, Wuque Flux DC sounds pretty deep, still clacky, but deeper than most switches I'd say. They also have almost no stem wobble when you bottom out and feel great. The official pricing is very expensive, so if you're considering them, buy from AliExpress. Fluxes are much cheaper there.

Other alternatives with deep clacky sound profile are UR Ice Ultra and Lekker Tikken, but the stem wobble won't be as good as Flux.

Hi guys I have a question. I purchased the mod kit from TorontoKeyboardMan in the Foam+Black Pom Plate variant. How much of this is attributed to the ceramic key caps? I'm using regular keycaps so would mine not sound as dampened?
Also, I see that she's using the stock lekker switches. If I went for something else with the mod, like the Gateron max's, would that be less deep and muted? Does anyone have any other suggestions

Ceramic keycaps definitely make the sound much deeper, with the normal PBT keycaps it won't sound as deep and muted. Also I wouldn't recommend getting Gateron Jade Maxes, because they have sticking issue due to PC on PC contact.

i think that everything is tightened properly, i only use OpenRGB, but it has never taken control of my wooting or interfered with it

The question is like the chicken/egg problem. What came first? The 80HE or the cases.
If the 80HE is popular and there is a market, cases will naturally emerge.

Sure. But in the context of our 60HE for example - That was built on an existing standard, so there's dozens of potential case options.

You can notice it if you look for it, but it is rather small. And at least for keyboards not really needed.
The only point where it can make a difference in hall effect is the moment you press the key/contact and the moment you release it.
Between 1k polling and 8k polling is 0.875ms (1ms vs 0,125ms). The latency from clicking to seeing the result on the screen is much bigger then that.
Honestly many games don't even profit from that, because the character accelerates gradually and doesn't move in an instant, like in Valorant.
It may be better to use on mice, but even then you can't really notice it much without a fast monitor or PC.

But hey, the 80HE can do 8k polling, so I use it 😄

If you use it on a battery powered device, I might not use it, since it does use more power.
Not only the keyboard itself, but also the CPU is used more.

generally no, but also yes. For the most part you can think of no performance benefits with various switches, however technically there is a very very small difference in sensitivity at the top/bottom of your press if your switches are more stable

that tiny difference in sensitivity is our keyboard knowing your switches are more stable and making the switches more sensitive there, but a very very small percentage of people will even notice that or use the sensitivity ranges where that is used

Hmm. I am comparing the 80 HE vs the 60 HE V2.

V2 has a PET film on top of the PCB under the switches. 80HE I think does not.

60HE V2 also has a FR4 plate. Compared to a PC one on the 80HE. This one is semi-subjective but I think most people prefer FR4.

Am I missing something? (Tikkens work on both)

You really would quite likely not feel or notice difference yourself with 60 v1 or v2, 80he etc. As everyone has said before, pick one you like as a layout and so on. Consider features/sounds/split space bar stuff.

Hi all, Im looking at buying an 80HE. This is my first kb upgrade since my logitech g105 from 2011 died the other day 🫡 This HE tech is new to me and i just wanted to run my cart past y'all before purchasing as i feel I may be over-purchasing parts. My reasoning for the additional L45's and L70 springs is because im not sure what 'typing feel' I would enjoy more, lighter or heavier, since ive only ever used rubber-dome kbs. If i enjoy the lighter L45, then i'll leave as is, but if i prefer a bit heavier, i can swap the L70 springs into the L45's and get the heavier 'weighting' benefits from the same switches, is that correct? Additionally, from your experiences does the L45, L60 and L70 weightings cover a reasonable spectrum of key press weightings, or do they overlap too much?

I would go with Tikkens instead of both Lekker V2s and keep the spring pack to see what you like.

I read some concerns about the softer material of the Tikkens being more susceptible to breaking on the hinges. Also the Tikkens are a strange middle ground between the L45 and L60 weighting, (L45 = 30gf-45gf), (L60 = 40gf-60gf), (Tikken = 42gf-54gf). Does this 'tighter' spring result in a more bouncy key press over the longer L45/L60? I hope this doesnt sound like im shooting you down, im gathering as much info as i can to fill in what i dont understand. P.S. My rubberdomes have always had 75gf actuation force.
