Yeah that's a continuity error on Sander's part. You can technically remove it without, but it's easier to do so with them off temporarily.

Hey i am calling to any Wooting Setting legend who can help me out. I've had this keyboard for like 1-2 years and i still can;t figure out how to get my settings right for me. I'll tell you waht im looking for, and if anyone has any input i would love to hear it:

I've used keyboards with 2MM actuationm no RT for a decade, so my fingers are just really used to that. I've gotten "used" to this newer faster feeling and i love it, but i also find that its inconsistent for me. I get the actuation point settings, but something I would like info on is the RT settings. Are there any press/release sensitivities that you guys found for games like CS2 / TacFPS that make it quick and snappy to move left and right, but also really easy to stop movement instead of it feeling like a jolting / wiggly stop.. if that makes sense? feel free to dm me if you are feeling any type of way about it. Thank you guys ❤️

Stop yourself from typing those keys, and note how often you use them - And then consider if holding down a key and tapping the key you used to have is worth the smaller desk space use.

Red LEDs on the E and R keys mean the keyboard is in restore mode. Use a Chromium-based browser or the Wootility app, and try restoring the keyboard one more time.

The warehouse works with us, not the couriers. Their job is to pack orders and get pallets ready for couriers.

What the couriers do beyond that point is up to them. Truck/Air freight isn't something the warehouse knows about at all. That's something the courier decides internally, once packages are scanned into their systems at a sorting center.

I'm a (nearly) satisfied user and buyer of the 80HE black zinc alloy frame, beautiful in the photo, up close, in the hand.
For my capabilities, it offers far more than I'm capable of using. It has a speed I'll never reach, and such extensive customization that I only use it at 20%.
I knew it, but I bought it anyway, setting aside a glorious, beautiful, expensive, mint-condition, six-year-old Leopold FC660C 60%
Now for the criticism: Its sounds to the spacebar is alienating.
It's unthinkable, unacceptable that a €333 keyboard (including VAT and shipping) comes with a space bar that produces an alienating, loud sound, unlike all the other keys. A sound that sent me into a panic every time I was forced to use the space bar.
I asked wooting and they suggested I look on Discord. They basically dumped me.
I think everyone at Wooting has gone crazy, it's a clear defect that Wootying should fix, also because I'm not the first, nor the last customer who has complained about this problem which needs to be fixed at the factory.
I've read a lot: put soundproofing foam or other hard-to-find materials under the space bar, lubricate the space bar wire, lubricate the switches.
I used strips of adhesive neoprene that I already had, I placed the same neoprene thinned with a cutter on the strike points of the bar: the sound changed a lot, it diminished, even if it is still high and different from the other keys. But why doesn't Wooting do it in the factory?

Finally, the 80HE does have indeed shine-through keys, but the light shining through the keys isn't that bright. It certainly has some wonderful visual effects, great in every sense for those who use the keyboard without looking at it, but if you want to find an unusual key in the dark, it's not so easy...
I bought the white keys, which are great during the day, but in the dark, the character visibility is the same as with the black keys. I'm so annoyed, I'm very annoyed.

Foam in spacebar is also not a 'everyone loves it' type of deal. There are certain communities that don't love changing the spacebar sound and prefer natural spacebar sound with certain switches.

As Sno mentions, we have begun to add some foam to the large, "hollow" spacebar keycaps to help dampen the noise that comes with having such a big keycap, where noise will bounce around more than smaller ones.

However it is not for everyone, and we don't sell a kit or anything like that for anyone without it. That's where the cool people in #🔧│keyboard_modding come in. They know what stuff is considered "best" for modding, and where to buy it more often than not.

We can't really help with modding in a customer service manner, beyond telling people to reach out to the folks who do know - the enthusiast modders.

I’m not a fan of the 80HE’s spacebar sound (probably due to case and/or gasket design) myself but calling it defective is a bit far. The sound of the spacebar (and any other bigger key) is gonna be different than a normal key regardless, it’s very hard to impossible to get all keys to sound the exact same.

For the lighting, did you install the switches yourself or were they preinstalled? The lighting really shouldn’t be dim, especially when it’s dark. So their might be an issue with the lighting settings or with the switches being in the wrong orientation.

Everything's correct about users liking to make their own modifications, according to their tastes. Nothing more to add.
But Wooting should at least publish notices, instructions, and advice on the site, along with any materials to purchase. Not secondarily, because I've found numerous complaints. We're not all skilled users. I, for example, am not, and I don't know where to look for this material, which is not easy to find because it's niche. Furthermore, I don't frequent Discord due to lack of time, so I'm ignorant. If there's a shortcoming,

it's not my fault; for an ultra-premium keyboard, support MUST come from the manufacturer.

I'm not insulting, I'm just noting—with disappointment—that instead of receiving assistance, I was dropped.
In a perfect world, if Wooting is now also shipping keyboards with soundproof space bars, since I asked them for help before complaining, they should have written to me: "Mr. Pain in the Ass, we're shipping soundproof space bars. Since you complained, do you want us to send you one?"

that's not what I mean. Think of it like this - a certain change is made and say we have 40k keyboards made before the change hits the assembly line, then 40k of those keyboards have to be sold before you see customers getting that new change

@winged birch As for the sound, the factory keys [Lekker v2 ? (I don't remember)] sound great. A discreet and silent "tchock." The space bar was out of place. Now partially fixed as I wrote. But I wouldn't mind toning down the sound further.

I've found some suggestions on Reddit and Discord, but that's not the correct solution, in my opinion.

As I wrote above, the light shining through the keys appears bright for two reasons: 1. my smartphone tends to produce bright images, 2. the photo was taken at the zenith of the keyboard. Sitting at the typical angle of the eyes and keyboard, the light is noticeably dimmer: I had to buy two lamps.

The LEDs Woot uses are pretty standard, so although keyboards with brighter LEDs do exist, they aren’t that common. Doesn’t turning off the lights around your desk help? I find it much easier to read the legends when it’s darker.

One more question regarding your spacebar, do you notice the (loud) sound you don’t like more when you press on either the far left or far right side of the spacebar?

@winged birch In order and for what it's worth: the brightness is just adequate. It would be wonderful if it were brighter. Those who like it a little dimmer can always dim it using the Wooting driver's fantastic settings.
In my case, I can only see the characters a little better with red or yellow lighting. Using these colors and holding my eyes vertically on the keyboard (like a blind person :-), I can say it's bright. The same thing happens if I tilt the keyboard towards me at 70 degrees from the horizontal plane. The default pulsating blue lighting is wonderful, but I can't recognize the keys.

Regarding the keyboard's sound, from what I remember, it was loud, sharp, and noticeably different from the sound of the other keys, both when pressing the far left and the right estyrene.
However, the "audio" memory may be faulty because I've had it soundproofed for a while now.

Does anyone have a Wooting 80 HE building guide? I’ve seen every YouTube video pertaining to building or modding the 80HE, but can’t find the layout for installing stabilizers. I bought a used board on EBay and the guy I bought it from removed all stabilizers left half of the screws out of the board and just jacked the whole thing. The plastic film is missing , as well. I think I’ve found screws that will match most of the wholes, and I’ve bought Typeplus Screw-In Stabs and WS Stupid Stabilizers in hopes one of these fit. However I’m not sure if the wires go up or down on the spaces. I see stabilizers pads on the PCB, so that helps somewhat. If anyone had a layout guide for the stabs, can you share w me? Thanks so much.

Typeplus YIKB screw-in stabilizers are compatible, use those. Also I would recommend removing the stabilizer pads, because eventually they soak in lube and get sticky. 80HE doesn't come with those pads anymore.

not so much hard or soft, but fast or slow. in every game, there’s a delay of how fast they recognize keypresses, if it’s too fast, nothing will happen. I used a tactile switch with DKS for Fn, to “slow down” my keypress so this wouldn’t happen, it worked well. you can just learn to press it slowly too but I found that kinda difficult to do consistently in every scenario.

There’s no real difference between the L45 and L60 Lekker V2s. It’s a bit of a tricky recommendation because the silent switches out right now also have a slightly shorter travel distance (3.5mm compared to the Lekker V2s’ 4mm). I’m also not entirely sure if the loud sound is actually due to the switch, it might be due to the stabilizers (in which case a shorter travel switch could help). Not sure what naked means, it's just one of the semi transparent plastic cases (this one is dark as opposed to clear, which would be the Frost one).
I would get the plastic first, because swapping to the Aluminium or Zink later is pretty easy, and you also sound like you could save some money for the month.

All switches we sell are compatible with our HE boards, and that means they're all also Hall Effect switches.

nah i don’t have experience with anything, i don’t like when people say just do it yourself because it’s subjective, but this time really, just configure it yourself. i’d say on your most spammed keys lower the actuation point i guess, but it’s really your choice, just play around with it for an hour

There's no mechanic for changing it by itself.
It'll always change back to the first profile on the board when powered on.

You may be accidentally tapping some shortcuts that change profiles - Or you may have some glitchy behaviour due to a bad cable.

I’d personally use it until it gets scrapped enough to annoy me then sticker bomb it or something so it stays unique to you. If sharpie isnt working, anything else will probably look off unless you find the perfect matching color paint

Hey guys, I ordered wooting80HE.. I'm currently using razer huntsman v2, purple switches and it's great too.. did anyone have same Keyboard and what do u guys think which one is better? 😄
