The problem I have with this kind of setup is that then your mouse hand is so far offset from your main monitor, it feels like you're the one that is sideways.

you need a dead key to make diacritics with ' + letter

neither will ~ nor ^, they just output immediately and if you try doing that you'll just make ^a
