woothing 80HE gang can we get a yerrpp
When's the next update on the 80he?
This week was no 80HE update.
We tried recording something between developments as an experiment, but it ended up being a bit of a blooper.
We need a moment to collect our thoughts and map out a new weekly update schedule based on timeline.
Blooper for April fools
yerrpp
Anyone with L45 - is the difference from L60 significant?
Aww thanks for the tweet @buoyant solstice really looking forward to these updates. Makes the FC so suspenseful
they are lighter

Damn
As a fellow Viking, you know that thereโs only one option. Pre build + Zink. Plastic doesnโt exist in our vocabulary. If you donโt trust your blade with another man, go with the modular option and forge your own masterpiece.
Test
what else would you use to defend your home just hammer them with your keeb
maybe we get a selfdefense guide for the 80he
Hi is there any sound test for wooting80he zinc alloy and pcr plastic?
I ordered a wooting 80 he and got a free switch pack and all but how do i claim the discord peark?
If you scroll down on this page there's a sound test for the pcr case https://wooting.io/wooting-80he
No sound test for the zinc case yet
how diffrent are thew v1 switches and v2 switches
They're different by 1
1 < 2
Yes
also way less stem wobble
and are smoother i guess, current lekkers are scratchy
Anyone have thoughts on the zinc casing? Or experience with similar materials? (Only used Corsair/steelseries/razer historically
love the name lol

Guide me, O' Thockfather of old. Thy Wisdom, everlasting.
thockery
thockdaddy
i would get the zinc but i dont think i can scrounge up the cash for that rn maybe at a later date
Only my gf gets to use that name
Why not CreamyDaddy
Father who likes to Thock
Thock shine
Quick question Ghost or white Zink+alloy? give me pros cons and answer fast bevor my wife can stop me from preordering
<@&490097707487330305>
Alloy heavy
Plastic is plastic
i just really like the look and feel and the sound and i guess the zinally will sound more clear less dampend and i acutaly like the deep dampend sound so im really right now sitting here and don't know wich one.. moneay is secondary actually..
Just get both, plastic is cheap enough.
I personally think plastic sounds better but I love the feel of a heavy keyboard.
that's exactly my problem.. i like the sound of plastic just not the feel or look the clean white is awsome but the sund of the plastik one i really love..
is the 80he worth it over the 60he?
gettingg both is not a option too much clutter already
If you like the layout
if you need fkeys or hate using fn keys to get arrows etc yes
If you like the layout and don't mind that wait then get the 80.
but the 8khz.. is that a difference?
buy both support the small the company (just raised 5.5 mil in under 12 days)
small companies ftw
true true
ill wait for reviews if anything.. dont wanna spend $200+ on a keyboard rn lol
finally bought
still can't decide if plastic or white zink + alloy wife is already trying to stop me HAHA
She cant
I got white zinc because it fits my setup
i love the look and feel but plastik usaly is deeper and in a more satisfying way hollower
both its 10 more euros if you get module.
mhmm checking mom
get module zinc and add plastic case over shop page into cart
@wispy trellis where are you from
germany
Try using deepl translator german to English
how exactly i can't seem to find the plastic case alone?
ahh there 40 โฌ extra got it thx
you should get discount at least it was so...on zinc and plastic if you have a module with zinc case in basket
maybe it was modified
what sounds better ? 80he or 2he ?
80he aint even out bro
sound test is on the webpage
doesent seem like it
you need to do it the other way around thanks ๐
already couple days ago where I did it ๐
As a German number junkie, you'd probably want a wootpad now, wouldn't you? ๐ https://discord.com/channels/167181566978555904/1216240474663419995
HAHA yes but no a 20โฌ microsft keypad does the trick while working ๐
so does the logitech mx keys mechanical 75%
I have this aswell ๐ but i like the same switch style in use
well it hides well when not used ๐
but yes hafe exactly that one two times one white one black
And the wait begins!
Mines August
Awesome! it's going to be a long next few months for us both.
Me too lol
Sweet! can't wait.
im gonna get it when i get paid later this week >:)
Weโre โ all โstill in the same batch. So basically everyone that has preordered is in the same boat
Hi ... how did you get that clown banner
Yesterday, during April fools they had a limited time event to click on these discord loot crates
Ohh ok.
its still here
Weird, I don't see the loot crates under settings anymore
Hey is there any good pics or videos comparing the black case vs the ghost case. As all the ones that I could find were renders.
I mostly just want to know how much the leds will be visible through the ghost case as if it is too much it will be hard to use, and if not enough I think that the black one would just look better. Thanks.

This week, we're diving into case materials. We've got a bunch of different samples to look at, and we're really liking the smokey transparent case. However, we know everyone has their own ...
ghost pretty much all over it black is black and you see it not as often but if you after that video still want ghost..; i thik the final one is darker but i guess that leaves still a impression about it
Thanks. I thought that I've already watched that one but I must have miss it or something.
you just mixed it up with the one where they talking about case options but they never showed any in there ๐ since the title is so misleading you forgott about that one (if i would diagnose your issue that would be my best bet as a mini MDHouse ;))
same time frame as mine. cant wait. excited for all who ordered
Na shows late july and eu shows early august
Tfw in eu but it says late july ๐
Jp gets in Eu-Kampioen batch, early August
Great time to be in NA right now
so does australia

Canada gets late july EU ๐
yuppers, btw does anyone know how good the Gateron KS-20U Dual Rail switches are
I think you told me about themm FEN
I am still waiting to receive them, tracking says this weekend. Iโll let you know or @ me then

dual rail ksus improve wobble a little bit. I think the ideal switch right now is either the jades or the everglide gaskets
Your still behind us in NZ wait your turn

Factory lube on them not great, sounds slightly better with hand lubing
you have these? https://www.gateron.com/products/gateron-ks-20-dual-rail-magnetic-orange-switch-sat?VariantsId=10779
White ones from the egg kb65
Shows on the product pictures a single rail but I opened one up from the board and they were dual rail
what are you guys gonna use your wooting 80he for?
Gaming ๐ค
cooking spaghetti
Decoration
beating ground beef into hamburgers
KS-20 vs KS-20U?
How to tell me, without telling me, that youโre getting a zinc case.
KS-20 is just lekkers lol
But diff colors and springs
how did you guess
but whats the difference vss 20U and 20?
20U is dual rail
Only a person of refined taste would flatten their ground beef to make burger patties with a keyboard in a zinc case.
Does the 80he come with the tool to replace switches
how kind of you
I am also this refined taste person, flatter burger patties better
Yes
why does it say on the Gateron site KS-20 Dual Rail, and on mechkeys KS-20U Dual Rail?
Gateron likes to confuse people
Internally it's all KS-20 or something, but Us are the dual rails and Ts are the jades (closed bottom long poles)

You don't have a lot of options for HE switches
I personally don't like them, I think jades feel way better.
You mean switches?
there's not a lot that work with wootings atm
High
You got Lekker 60s and 40s, Gateron KS-20s, Gateron KS-20Us, Geon Raptors and Gateron Jades.
Those are the main ones, there's a few others not worth considering.

Me too. But the jades feel better. My dilemma lmao
you tune out sound after a while, but an annoying feeling is hard to ignore
the lekkers sound of nothing
they prob like quieter switches
bro skipped the first 5 seconds
the left ones are jades the clear ones with green stem are lekkers
ngl same i had to rewatch to find out loll
you've been watching different video from others. Right ones have much better sound

definitely
Switches on the right sounds better for me
๐
In this video jades sound better
it's all about video sound quality and keyboard switches are built in
just finna have to wait for lekker v2's
Won't change anything.
I like jades because of the closed bottom housing not because of the stem wobbling less.
well word on the block is there will be future HE switches coming out sometime later this year
maybe even some from wooting ๐
i dont think they will release anything except v2s
where's calder when you need him to leak some new products
There's a Lekker pro or such in the works. We don't know anything though.
havent heard
Please have the first silent version of HE switches aswell.
how long does it take for orders to show on the hub?
About an hour or so.
ty
Innnovating on "Silent" Switches feels like chasing a dream. You need to 1. silent the housing of the switches. 2. Reduce or eliminate the sound cause by the friction of the stem while travling upp and down. 3. Dampen or kill the sound at bottoming out . 4. To top it off you might need special keycaps = more cost = less profit
Anyone know a site i can buy custom key caps from?
not sure what you mean by custom. Most of the custom keycaps is locked behind drops. If you want standard ones go with GMK
that is not gmk
Those a fake ones, gmkkeycaps.com too
oh.. ok
See - you need to be cultured to not get scammed too! Almost like Nike/ Jordans.
Nah just buy from stores that have good reputation. And you will get real keycaps
how do you know theyยดre real?
Because it is reputable store in community
Anyone who has ordered a wooting to singapore, how much customs duty did you have to pay?

also - you can always check https://drop.com/mechanical-keyboards/drops/reviewed?sc=keycaps

For the W80HE, are there plans to upgrade the typing experience? I have the 60HE (obv), as stock, and the typing is/was super rough outside of the box (the gaming on it is supreme, tho). Asking coz the boog75 spoiled me a bit. Can't wait to have my 80HE to test things out.
Have you read the details about the board on the website?
Yes I did, I did that before the pre-order, but I'm not very technical when it comes to mechanical KBs so it is difficult for me to say (and yeah I saw the sound test in the promotional video)
What I understand is that the press force (?) and the switch more or less remains the same
Gasket mount should provide a better typing experience
Ah, all right!
The lower angle also is nice, will be a flatter board compared to the 60he
When it says that its expected by X time. Is that like confirmed or CAN it be earlier if things go well?
Weight of switches or actuation force depends on the springs inside them 45g or 60g stock, you could replace those if you wanted to
For most people 45g is already rly light
Its usually accurate to the time it states, id recommend getting batch updates so you can get more info for when they start doing those
Alright appreciate you
For the 80he i'd be happy if the expected time is accurate but i wouldnt be surprised if delays happen. I wont even think about it arriving sooner than expected
For sure I'm not saying it's a bad time frame at all, But i hope no delays my keyboard rn is biting on for dear life and the 80he is something i was looking for, I cant use 60%s because coding with it is a pain in the ass, but who knows guess we can hope
Im in the same boat my keyboard is slowly dying
how long on average does it take to deliver?
You can check in hub https://hub.wooting.io/my/orders
Other than that... depends on where you live and which delivery method you've picked
Fuck you were faster
You'd be surprised what being bored in work does to a person
I forgot you are Polish it guy
Is there an image/render of the frost case with rgb/lighting on?
literally just came to ask this exact thing
been asking for a while i hope we get smth soon
how long will it take to lube switches for both lekker and jades? ๐ someone give me a rough idea
It took me about 4 hours and change to lube my 60HE. Took my first and didn't rush the process - Netflix to keep me company.
holy ๐ฎ i need to mentally prepare myself for the fun then ๐
get jades and call it a day
took me 3h and watched a lot of yt videos about it
took me 3 hours to lube switches(including hand lubing springs) and 30 mins to tune the stabs
jades should be lubed too - prelubrication isnt perfect by far
Jades are consistently lubed but on the wrong parts imo
all of them had the same amount of lube on part of the stem and on the bottom housing on mine
maybe i won't lube both sets then ๐ i don't like the sound of stock jades
sound is good for me, i didnt even bother lubing them
thats what i thought until i lubed 5 of them
and did a side by side, the spring ping was gone it felt slightly smoother and was much quieter
so much quieter
i might use jades on 80he too, they feel great
i also wanted to buy lube station that can handle all switches in one go but these don't seem to exist ๐ฆ
i like to keep every part of the switch together so i lube them one by one
i planned on doing them in batches and using the bag method for springs
go for it
i don't know how much i'll fck up with brush application though ๐ฆ
go light on the stem
if i lube them i will 100% overlube
and heavier on the springs
thats why I dont do it
also go light on the bottom end of the spring if youre lubing it - can get muddy easily
i went heavier on the springs they will break in after a while but do as you please
on HE does it matter where you lube on the switch?
the only thing i dislike about all of these HE switches is the very loud top out
hm, might try it on my 90 pack
or can i lube all 4 sides in and out
yes it does
the only other note is that i lubed the top housing on the spacebar switch too to reduce a bit of the top out recently
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WN_-GYLTfpY
Calder did an excellent guide on lubing a year ago.
Always wondered how you can lubricate your lekker switches or grease your stabilizer wire. In this video, we will deep dive on different methods of lubing and some general tips and tricks. Using the Wooting 60HE.

google translate exists
what is that ?
how rude to reply in another language
yep saw this ๐ i guess jades use a similar form factor so the same principle applies
I translate what they say in a language I don't understand. I am not going to reply in that way however to ensure that what I say is what I mean to say.
totally clear to me - was joking my love
is it still July for all the original founders? my order doesn't show the expected date but the website is showing new orders are July 2024 (I can't find a batch number)
July/August for the first batch, barring any delays.
gotcha, thanks
metaphor mod
yuh
Until it makes a terrible faux pas
is there any chance for the 80he to be in warehouse before mid of july?
Doubtful but not impossible.
i got faith
For translation deepl tends to be pretty accurate
i'd expect it later than that
i still remember how much my 60he batch was delayed and the alumaze first batch
i use whisper for translating
Why the order I placed for 5units give 1 pc linear 45 but 7units give 3? I think it's 5 and 7.
im unsure what you mean
well, I placed 2 orders for Wooting 80HE. First order has 5 80HE, and it contains 1 Linear45 v2 for free. Another order has 7 80HE, it conatins 3 Linear45 v2 for free.
this is an OK tutorial but honestly - i'd buy a lube station and the stem grabber instead of using tweasers. You will drop your stems half the time with his method. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=88tnUYbxaIs
This is my ultimate guide on how I lube my switches effectively. I wanted to focus more on the dos and don'ts of lubing switches to avoid mistakes and give you all my opinion on some ways to avoid over lubed switches. This guide is meant for cherry MX style switches and focuses on linear variant. Again, the amount lube you use it totally up to y...
The Founders' campaign switch pack perk behaves a bit wonky on the storefront. Once the campaign is over, all orders will be reverted to one free switch pack per founder
aka 1 free pack per order
So to be clear, irrespective of how many keyboards you preorder, across however many orders, a max of 1 free pack of switches
oh it is 1 per customer
No Tony 1 per founder not per order ๐
i missed that i guess
Oh, I understand.
I didn't. Sounds like a skill issue.
only ever lubed a 2he but i dropped 0 stems or springs or such

I have been seeking B2B orders because my orders exceed $5000, but I have not received any email response from B2B. It's been half a moth ๐ฆ
and i only used tweezers i had laying round
guys
On the store page, I can only use my credit card for payment, but my credit card limit is not that high. My credit card limit is estimated to be only $25,000
If it's about 80HE's you're going to be waiting a while. ๐
imagine v3 lekkers would be dual rail
I'd be more excited about a closed bottom housing
mine is $2,500 wym
He's trying to do a business order.
what does that offer
me too
closed bottom seems sorta mid for gaming
Feels and sounds different.
ur wrong
only 11 days of the Founder Campaign
I personally just like to know when I have bottomed out, it gives me finer control over the key for things like DKS
ik it doesnt change performance, I more meant the feel imo wouldnt be great for gaming
nope
highly disagree, feels incredible.
B2B orders aren't part of the campaign to begin with.
L60 v2, L45 v2, Jades all on the way
thats seems like a lube issue. will probably be fixed with lekker v2s.
lekkerv2 will have tighter tolerances but i personally will just continue using jades ๐คท
I aim to start getting these kinds of orders placed and confirmed by the end of this week
Will the price of B2B be different? I am planning to purchase 100 units of 80HE in the store. Will my order be cancelled?
No, same price
Same.
btw what exactly caused the og lekkers to sound a bit rattly
those were lubed poorly iirc
later batches are lubed properly/have enough
yea
oh so all the sound tests are kinda old
newest batches are better but the feel is just not good
again this is my first time doing HE keyboards, let alone my first time with customs
yes, newer batches have better sound
if i compare my L45 which i got 1 month ago to my old L60 its night and day difference
thats nice to hear that the later L45 batch is much better to the og L60
yup
Thank you for your answer. I will make the payment with a credit card first. If there is a response from B2B, I will purchase other orders.
We'd prefer the entire order to be in one go via bank transfer, we enforce internal restrictions on credit exposure to credit cards and would likely end up in the order being rejected automatically
This is also what I think, after all, my credit card limit is very low.
if I recall the Gateron KS-20U Dual Rail switches do not have a closed bottom
Correct
does that mean the sound may not be like the jades?
Maybe I should wait for a KS-20U Dual Rail Closed bottom
80he will sound good i dont think u will want to change switches
not a fact tho ๐คท
ks-20us sound almost exactly like lekkers, just with effectively no wobble
thy will sound nothing like the jades
on website 80he sounds great
Most of the HE switches are 80% or more sounding the same. Jades are the only ones that are really different.
shoutout to Giulia, he/she was so kind and fast at refunding PCR case.
lets go Zinc gang~!!
KS-20 is open bottom single rail
KS-20T is closed bottom single rail
KS-20U is open bottom dual rail?
plastic gang here
also a dual rail jade switch is not needed, the jades have tight enough tolerances already
stability
? wdym
prob because most people are coming from lekkers and lekkers wobble a lot
jades are more than stable enough, practically no wobble aswell
yea, i just received jades and this thing doesnt move if i wiggle it
funny part is, dual rail KS wobbles lot more than Jades
if i wiggle lekkers they literally dance
whats the point then
yeah, i dont understand too ๐ฆ
idk jades are just perfect for me, but weird thing happened today when i swapped to jades i had double clicking issue, updating to 2.7.3 beta 5 helped me
I guess my order of 90 Jade switches was a good thing
in gatreon family, jade is no.1 imo / maybe kailh comes up with something unique?
this is correct though right?
I was checking them with stem and housing color on Aliexpress, so dunno about alphas
As of right now, yes. But that ight change because gateron likes to keep a confusing naming scheme.
About to order my 80he, do the new Lekker V2 come prelubed?
Yes.
ALL of our switches are prelubed. V2 or otherwise.
Oh, I was under the impression that the v1 weren't
Mansen, so I am ordering the 80HE soon just two quick questions:
- These V2s are a lot like the current V1s, just with tighter tolerances so they feel and sound a bit better?
- If I pick the raw case and later on after you show how it looks (but before delivery of course!) - I can change my order to the white or black one, right?
Early V1s (Wooting Two Lekker Edition) had some prelube on them. Modern V1s have more and better applied lube (the ones you currently get)
Yes and Yes.

I just ordered the 80he. But still hv no idea how it sounds. Anyone knows?
Thock
Looks like it's mostly a jade switch, but made by WS. The only difference I can find is that the bottom housing is made from a different material. PA instead of Nylon.
Though iirc, Nylon is a form of PA, so it could actually be the same.
they are jades but recolored for some reason
wouldnt buy them
i messaged them and they told me only difference is stem color but i didnt believe
they doooo like amd and their newer 7000 and 8000 mobile cpus, and intel like 1135G7
and core ultra 9 290K or something
as other have said, they're just a jade recolor
WS Dash HE are KS-20T?
seems like it yes, just copy paste of jades
different color stems thats it
are spring lengths different for the jade because of the total travel? I want lighter springs to put on the jade switches.
why are there no 90 piece options on the gateron website
You'll have to ask Gateron that.
jades are already light
pretty similar to L45
going for uber light, alimarket 28g or lighter if they make. But not sure if they fit Jades bc of the 3.5mm travel
Where are the new pictures? ๐ซ
They are 20mm
jade 20mm? And Lekkers?
nm, searched it. Says they have same spring length. Good to know. 16mm looks like.

do you guys think I should get the jades or wait for the lekker v2?
Lekker pros are coming as well. Next gen lekker lol
thereโs no timeline for those yet right?
think not
hard question, i would say wait for lekker v2 reviews and stuff and then decide, if u cant wait then get jades, they are great
yeah Iโll probably wait for the reviews first. However, it doesnโt seem like the lekker v2s are a huge change from the first gen lekkers
If youโre going for the reduced travel and the Jade specific sound, Iโd get those, but if youโre happy with Lekkers and how they sound and feel then just wait for the V2โs
There is no information on the community named โLekker Prosโ besides the fact that they were teased in a stream a while back.
Was this another Calder leak
leakder
This website is wrong. They are the same length as the lekkers.
Which iirc is 16mm or so.
you need wooting compatible springs for jades
There's this for 22mm springs and then this for 18mm springs https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006273053817.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.35.5ae418024qzEYW
yeah those are the springs I was looking at. 18.5mm ones I ran into. The 22mm might be a typo and only applies to the higher force ones? who knows.
so then these 18.5mm ones will work with the jades? They are bit longer than the 16mm.
Lekker pros? What difference will they have?
no idea. lol. It was just mentioned in the stream.
Ho ok
Let's hope something like aimbot or something, this would make me buy it
But for real, what could it have? I'm thinking but besides too quality build even better than Lekker v2
I mean, my Lekker v1 might have tolerance issues because the .1mm actuation doesn't really actuate at .1mm, you can depress the key a little and it doesn't activate. So I'm hoping that gets better.
The precision and amount of registration amounts on the switch is coming from the sensor right? So the board
not sure
Ok
Good to know
I hope I will receive mine soon enough to see...
oh u don't have a wooting yet?
Stop making me remember this unbearable pain ๐ญ๐
lulz
I ordered mid March, and the ONLY thing missing is the case
yeah test the .1mm actuation and report back. Idk how all these nubs are saying it's actuating at .1mm for them. If you press the key down slowly you can clearly see it travels a bit before it actuates.
They have everything else in their warehouse
which one u buy? lol
but which model, 60HE?
Yeah yeah 60
Was scared of maybe missing the arrows but can easily have that with the 60he and f keys I actually don't need them, running an experiment on my 100% ATM (simply removed all the keycaps that would not be present on the 60he and everything is ok for now, maybe numpad for numbers but this can be bought separately if I REALLY need it)
Nobody need that
It won't make any difference
nah dood, need it for the videogamez. To smesh newbs
We are talking less than a Ms difference
I will be slashed by you then I guess
And didn't want to wait like 4months for a keyboard
lol. yeah true
but ur almost waiting that long anyway. Case missing for u? Another month prob
It should arrive around next week I assume
o ok nice
They estimated the case to be back on stock today actually so yrah
I have the wooting Lekker edition so maybe .1mm actuation sucks on this board but regular HE and 60HE might be fine. who knows.
And I don't know how the order of people getting shipped works but I ordered a long time ago and I've been waiting only for the case, and I'm living literally like 3hours away from their office so this should help to instead of going to the us etc
What is the Lekker edition actually? Only specific keycaps right?
well. Aluminum case I think
Ho ok, that's 'ot bad
blue aluminum case. and the keycaps but maybe the PCB is also different where the .1mm isn't as accurate. will have to ask around.
I don't think they updated the PCB components, just the stabs for the +
Anyway good 'ight, it's late here
when is my 80he gunna come ๐ฆ
Wow, finally someone keeping it real with themselves. But then again, you canโt really judge something you havenโt tried out yourself ๐ค. The foundation of human growth is to never settle for good enough. Always strive for a better future.
That's what jesus taught me, always go for the better polling.
I agree, but my normy ass won't see a difference. If running for a marathon having 25g shirt on or a 23g short on won't make a damn difference in my performance
Same here
8k polling rate won't make me better at all ๐ญ๐
late july early august
ik
I don't think we've gotten the Zinc alloy sound tests yet. Theoretically it should be "better" but that's probably just personal preference. I went with the Zinc just because it will look and feel more quality in my opinion. The PCR sound test is on the main page for the 80HE tho if you haven't heard.
I sold my 60he just for this reason
any suggestion for wirless numpad that matches he80?
idk about matches but Zoompad
bruh i lubed my wooting and did a alumaze swap its so much better ๐
lubing it will make it so much better already
got any link ?
whats that ??
what does the 8khz do
Keychron Q0 Max is a full-metal custom number pad with a macro column and rotary encoder knob on the left side. Applied as a separate numeric keypad or a huge customizable key set with QMK/VIA support, Q0 Max offers 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.1, 1000 Hz polling rare, upgraded acoustic foams, double-gasket design, PBT keycaps, etc.
you can make any numpad match if you buy a complete keycap set
Basically. And just get the same color for both cases.
btw anyone know of any switches that work well with the wooting aside from the lekker switches i want to test out other magnetic switches without losing the tachyon mode or the rappid trigger
Geon Raptors, Gateron Jades or Gateron KS-20Us
only ones worth trying out, Jades are the most different from the lekkers and are a fan favorite so I'd expirment with those first
for the record i dont lose anything if i try them out ? they work with wootility and i can set them to 0,1 mm
- rapidtrigger
thanks thats helpfull ๐
cant wait to try out other switches and mix switches for the optimal feel
Wait till you get to spring swapping XD
oh man ๐
Any switches you recommend for performance reasons?
i think i should just buy another wooting module so i can build a completely diffrent one
Whatever switches you like the feel off best = you will play better = better performance
Personally I love Jades.
That's how it started with me too, got a prebuilt, then got a module to do a different one, and whats that, 80he coming out soon? Let me get a ocuple of those ....
If I use that logic I'd keep the keyboard I'm using since I've trained my hand on it for over a decade
not really the same because with the wooting there is technology that is objectively better.
So I should hunt for pressure actuation that is close this one I guess?
I guess so. And keycaps with a similar profile.
Jades bottom out at 3.5 instead of 4mm, could be a curse or a boon depending on what you play, and could be completely inconsequential. Maybe l45s being lighter means you fatigue less and can stay on top of your game long, maybe it means you just get a lot of sloppy inputs. It's all preferrence.
Do you use rapid trigger on your wasd?
yeah you have to ๐ i personally do use it on all keys but i set the wasd on a lighter activation point
Can we save settings to the board so I don't have to set everything up at a friends house?
I am a lunatic. I use rapid trigger on all my keys at 0.15 and 0.1 actuation on all keys
Taychon mode always on
Was sloppy first few weeks but my accuracy has improved quickly
Taychon turns off rgb?
whats the 0.15?
just dimms it a bit, I guess it might disable some of the fancier effects but i don't use rgb so idk
Yes. Four profiles in total
I had no questions about this damn keyboard until it shipped, now they pop into my head
the actuation for rapid trigger, most sensitive is 0.15mm
Ah so you can set the actuation point and the rapid trigger actuation point where it will reset the key
Exactly
You will have to expirement a bit and find the sweet spot that works for you
So for your settings you have to go all the way down to actuated, release .05 and its ready to actuate at .1 again?
I think I was thinking of rapid trigger as, as long as the keys are going down its actuated, up its deactuated
no, if I even breathe close to my keys they actuate. And any slight lifting off will release.
basically I want my keys to be as responsive as possible. I prefer to use springs to fine tune the feel of the keys actuation force instead of the software.
anyone know if wooting will work on firefox in the future
just what makes sense for my brain
Oh boy Friday's gonna be fun
If firefox adds support for web usb then yep
Wrist rest / No Wrist rest?
for me wrist rest is mandatory
Same lol
Well if am sitting anyway, if am standing I don't need one
Hopefully the switches that come with the 60he arent too light I tend to rest the weight of my fingers on them since I have a wrist rest
Just got home and tested and they are not all the same
From left to right is KS20u , Jades (KS20T), Raptors, then Lekker
Lekker being the longest
Also pulled out my calipers and itโs basically a 1mm difference
But it's not 20mm right?
No
I was getting about 14mm for the Jades and KS20u springs
Whereas the raptors and Lekkers were a lot closer
Interesting, it's such a minor difference. I wonder why gateron does it lol
Yeah and I mean possible user error on my end and margin of error
But with the naked eye you can see the lekker stem is the longest
I get 15.5mm for the Lekker and I get 14.5mm for the for the jades and KS20u
yeah it's visible. I compared them to my 18mm springs and they were all shorter than that, and jades and lekkers were close enough i figured its the exact same lmao
Right yeah
but good to know exact measurements.
I mean calipers could be slightly off but yeah
Whereas theyโre using calibrated machines
@sudden nest this might interest you
Oooooooooo
Again, take my measurements with a grain of salt, could be somewhat off a bit. I donโt want people to take it as gospel, but I did use digital calipers to test
i appreciate the effort
Even if the measurements are off, it's useful to know how the springs are in relation to each other.
Yeah, they're all at least within a 1mm difference
that 1mm could just be tolerance issues
Could be, true. I don't have calipers otherwise i'd check what mine say lol
For the 22mm springs am having trouble deciding what g to get.
i wish they did a sample pack, i wanna try them all lmao
for non-HE switches, whats your ideal spring weight?
SPRiT MX Slow Extreme V springs are longer than your typical springs and feature a higher starting force. Perfect for gamers and typists who want to prevent accidental keypresses and those who prefer a heavier switch without increasing their bottom out weight. They are within 0.5% deviation as of October 2020. Slow Ext
I like these in 63.5
60g is also good
def go for the 62g springs then
Honetly 55 - 63 is good range, any heavier is kind annoying
yeah i agree
According to sprit mx, 2mm difference in height is about 3g
So am thinking maybe get 45s to account for the extra mm compared to jades
ill think about it and order a set before bed lol
No you are right, the initial force is higher only.
https://divinikey.com/collections/springs/products/sprit-mx-slow-extreme-springs
According to this, going from 13.75mm spring to 20mm means +10g initial force
SPRiT Slow Extreme Springs are linear springs that has a heavier starting weight relative to the Supreme springs. Coming in Extreme I, II, and III to differentiate between heavier starting weights with the same bottom out force. SPRiT MX Slow Extreme Springs Feature: 100 included in each pack Stainless Steel 99.5%ย Prec
And the heavier the bottom out, the heavier the extra initial force with length
So I might actually go for 55g 22mm springs
Since jades bottom out sooner, I won't actually bottom out the spring, so the bottom out wont be 55 it will be higher and likely closer to what I am used to with normal mx
since the jades bottom out sooner/compress the spring less, it will be lighter than 55g bottom out maybe like 53g
Are you sure? Because it will start off heavier, or is the spring usually weakest somewhere in the middle range?
I have some Gateron Baby Raccoons, their springs are 20mm 55g and they only travel 3.6 so am imaging it will be the same but heavier in the beginning slightly
this is probably true
Me and you both lmao
wooting 80 he zinc alloy pre bulit comes with case right
Yes.
@buoyant solstice is it just me or Wooting removed the Kana keycap from 80HE order site?
it's still there for me, although looks like some things are batch 2 now since batch 1 sold out for some of it
I think it's removed for US stores. Are you in US?
ah maybe, i'm not US store
Is there a difference between the 80he prebuilt and the module like the 60he where there was a different plate and something with the stabilizers or is it literally just the same thing disassembled?
Nah it's the same
Ok, thanks
Was never on the US store as far as I know. US is ANSI only.
Kana is a JIS keycap set. And we only stock US specific things in the US.
Is there any good settings for shooters
Is the new 80he gonna be hotswapable with other magnetic ( HE ) switches
yes, but not all fit
they even offer other ones i believe?
We sure do.
I ordered the Module + a Zinc case. Does this mean I get the Travel case too? Even though it isnt a separate item in the order.
Yup, travel case comes with zinc case
Same here
Ho nooo, your package is in front of mine

Move away ๐ you shall not pass
Haha, you were squatting on the toilet while I was writing the order.
So I will enjoy my wooting first
I cant wait!
And I had to wait three weeks for the case to be in stock to be able to validate the address ๐ญ
what cable comes with the 80he? I thought it was a coiled cable
2m USB-C to USB-C braided cable
Along with USB-C to USB-A adapter
ah ok! cheers I am placing my order now ๐
Remember to claim your role here after https://hub.wooting.io/my/account
it's confirmed but not letting me transfer the order
Transfer?
Nope.
no?
just create one using the email you used to order
You just need to wait a while. Everyone orders "without an account"
oh ok
As long as you create the account on our hub using the same email, it's just a question of waiting for our Hub server to sync up new orders. Usually within an hour. ๐
That makes sense! thank you man!
Can I change the case after ordering?
By emailing us at social@wooting.io yes
ok
I believe it was on the US store for a time. That was probably a mistake because during that time you couldnโt select a ISO module.
If US is only ANSI thatโs definitely why we canโt see it now lol.
Apparently they are supposed to be on the US site and warehouse as well - But we've "run out"
Gotta set up a new batch of production to be able to allow more preorders.
Who think 80 he Will be better than 60he+
Define better - It is on paper objectively "better" in terms of featureset.
About this topic, is it even possible to transfer a keyboard's ownership to another wooting account/email? Like for example once it's arrived, for mainly warranty purposes
When searching for something like this I found Mark talk about transferring ownership of an order here: #๐โwaiting_room message
there is 1 ms of reaction time on the 60 he think you really see a difference
Only people buy the keyboard think Will be better
But I think same keyboard
Its like mouse 4000 hz
Sure, just follow https://help.wooting.io/article/79-transferring-ownership-of-an-order
Oh thank you that's very helpful, exactly what I was after
Looking to order a 2nd 80HE as a gift for a friend but would want to keep the (initial pre-)order on my account so it's somewhat a surprise but then would want to transfer ownership so in case he needs to deal with warranty he can
I think yes
How can I get the batch as a role? ๐ nevermind - just saw I got it ๐
Karma will get you, you will see
HAHAHA GOODBYE
Damn, I thought there would be more clowns in here.
You will have two space bars
only a real clown would put on a clown costume willingly on the internet
Says the guy who pays discord.
HAHAHAHA Maybe, But my double blank WOOTING will still arrive earlier than you
Mine is sexier, even without seeing it
Haha i can wait

I think we are the ones who pays for his discord ๐
did we get a zinc alloy sound test yet?
not yet
unlucky but soon hopefully
We need a sticky FAQ on this one โ๏ธ
Got a livestream tomorrow. Could ask politely there if one is possible.
Even if it won't be a final case.
i'm ordering 1 rn, i live in indonesia. which type should i pick, is it ANSI ?
Pick the same layout you have currently
idk the name
send a picture of your keyboard
If you have long Shift and there Z next to it, and if you have flat Enter, then you have ANSI
If you have shorter Shift, there's another key between Shift and Z and Enter is L-shaped, then you have ISO layout one
is it normal that the delivery fees are 30$ for edmonton canada?
It includes taxes
14$ of taxes is added seperatly
Then it is normal.
oke, thx.
Even more if youโd get the zinc case
๐
Weve waited enough. Now tell us more about the LED bar!
And new pictures
knob
is the LED Bar touchsensitive and can i encrease the volume with it? ๐
no touch
yes. Considering the fact that duties are included, it's actually really cheap for quick international delivery.
What are the estimated weights of the Zinc alloy case and the PCR ABS case?
Sorry if I'm blind and missed it.
I hope its not shipped with Fedex. Fedex likes to sent duty handling invoice out of the blue month after the delivery.
When you go to checkout it will tell you what company will do the delivery.
On the 80HE product page. Scroll down far.
I take it these weights from the Wooting 80 page are fully assembled, right? So I would just subtract the PCB?
PCR ABS: 790 grams
Zinc alloy: 2160 grams
Yep
4.7 lbs roughly
So I guess an open question as to the case-only weight until the rough weight of the PCB and other non-case components is known.
To bc mine were 34$
I kinda expected a company like wooting to have a warehouse in canada or America.
They do in America but it's cheaper and faster from the eu
The case weight also isn't final. Could swing a hundred grams either way.
Las Vegas actually. But it's US only.
But also they don't own their own warehouse, they aren't that rich lol
Why? They are not a big company and they are from the EU.
I'm surprised they have a centre in the US at all lol
@buoyant solstice just wanted to tell you I love you

The warehouse in the EU isnt even their own warehouse isn't it?
They arnt? Mb then. Looked like a decently big company since their keyboard is everywhere on YouTube. Good for them.
would make sense for them to be regionally distributed as I'd imagine a lot of sales come from the US as well.
The case could swing a few grams? 80he weed dealer confirmed
Nope. We rely entirely on fulfilment partners - Have done since the Flaretech days.
Yeah I thought so
Not great for productivity to have Mark, Erik and Jeroen pack founder's orders for a full week or more ๐
How much would buying and operating your own warehouse even cost, id assume it's not cheap considering you guys haven't taken that route yet(unless it's in the works and we just don't know)
you dont really buy commercial properties, you lease them for a period of time
Obviously would need to hire a lot more staff
depending on the warehouse size, it could be upwards of 100k+ a month USD.
also depending on locale, etc.
If we sold twice as many as are currently sold by the time it delivers, we'd only need to have everyone in the company pack an entire Lekker Edition run each
If I end up wanting to edit my 80he order/cancel and make a new one, would I lose my spot in the first batch?
Not if you're quick
I know ya'll are swamped atm so I haven't sent an email about it yet XD
But almost at 18K so maybe i'll do it soon, still undecided on cases they are all so tempting lmao
Our aim would be to allow people to keep their original batch allocations even if making order modifications down the line, but that wouldn't be possible to guarantee if there's any kind of layout swap
Good to know. It's just a matter of cases and switches, either way the module(s) would be ANSI.
I just figured since we are months away, I can just message to change later instead of now since ya'll are busy atm.
Sorry one last question, if I get the zinc case on it's own as an addon, will it still have a travel case?
I believe so, based on the case's "What do you get" section. https://wooting.io/product/wooting-80he-zinc-alloy-case
Thats why I bought 2
Just catch (buy) them all. No need to cancel your order. The customer support will assist you soon. Just keep calm and wait for your turn. I got to add everything I wanted and more ๐คฃ
Itโs the only time you will be able to order over 18kg of cases for the same cheap shipping price ๐คฃ (EU)
Anyone else make the decision to add the ghost shell to their order? I've been contemplating buying it as I'm sure it's going to have a very different sound profile from the base zinc I ordered. It's cheap enough to where I feel it's worth it to have both to play around with.
yes
Yes
Would I reach out to customer support if I wanted to add to my order?
@indigo willow Yes, that would be a good step to make via the hub
No video coming out this week?
Not sure if this has been questioned yet but I'm not experienced with keyboards like the Wooting ones. Can I replace the switches without soldering or any professional tools?
Yes wooting keyboards are hotswappable
but only with compatible Hall Effect switches
Was only planning to replace some 60 switches with 45 switches anyways
Then its easy to do, all you need is switch puller
Is Zinc worth the price compared to PCB or not? I don't know what to choose between the two, whether there's a big difference or not.
One is plastic, one is not.
We can't really decide for you. It's up to you whether having a metal case instead of plastic is worth the premium. If you are unsure, save your money imo.
I see, thanks haha
Both are functionaly the same. Just the metal looks a certain way, is heavier and will sound different. If you don't care about that then the PCR is a fantastic option. I don't know this for a fact, but the vast majority of people likely getting plastic.
This is my first custom keyboard, I think I'll see over time if I want to change parts without spending too much at once, thanks for the advice, really
morning
honestly the amount ou save is ignorable less.. simply buy it later if your in a countr without shipping that is
yep I got both ๐ maybe zinc is too cold during winter ๐
Yeah, and since you can always go back and buy the zinc case at a later time, there's really no risk in settling for the plastic case to save some money up front. Product availability is going to be the only real kicker there.
also the PCR ABS case with the non finalized sound test is already very good so no need to worry :)
could be possible that plastic case will get you the keyboard even faster; i would buy zinc alloy later
maybe even 3rd party will come up with something cheaper and awsome
cant say it enough but wooting is killing it
I personally opted for the Zinc case because, I prefer the weight and sound profile over ABS, but I'm also buying the ABS in the event I ever want to swap it out.
Wooting is the MVP at the morgue for sure
it's nice to have options.
likewise, black zinc alloy case for me
real
@magic hearth is this your first HE board too?
After all, I'm someone who loves "soft" noises, and I'd like to get rid of the whole Logitech range, which has been giving me too many problems for a while now. It was mainly the sound that I was wondering about, but it's hard to get answers since there were no videos showing the noise with the zinc
Yes !
This will be a significant upgrade from your logitech in terms of sound and feel, with both the ABS and Zinc case for sure.
the only good thing I used from them was the G Pro X headset and the G502 for everyday use
i use a g502x as well.
G502 Hero Wired
Been solid for the past year or so.
the funny mouse wheel
๐
At the moment, my Logitech keyboard is flaking on the keys, even though it's fairly new, and my Logitech headset is having problems again, even though I had to change it 1 year ago. It's really too disgraceful for the price of these products....
Oh, that rubbery coating on them?
Not even, that's the worst of it, he just loses all his paint, if you can put it that way ?
What the heck lol.
i wash my hands super often, and every product I touch abs or pbt gets glossy in 3 weeks
Oh shit is 77.5% the official unofficial name
yes
My meme paid off
we were scammed!
@hazy cove nice kurzgesagt style black hole banner :)
It is kurzgesagt
This is the first time I've gone for a custom keyboard, at first I wasn't tempted by wooting because the 60He was too compact, but with the 75% side it looks so much better, I can't wait to change
awesome
yea i didnt bother with 60he for this reason, 80he is everything i need in a board
i also am getting a Keychron Q1 HE next month, I can tell you my thoughts on it
Got a free 60HE out of this one
oh lmao this meme was yours
Yep
very nice
i actually use ALL of the 80HE keys
no more no less, literally all
it is the perfect board for me
I really hope we get a 75 or 65 in the future. All I want is a 60 with arrow keys.
65%
65 looks kind of ugly
Good thing keyboards are for clicking and not displaying.
yeah it compresses the 60% layout too much
While the keyboard has its strengths, I find myself missing several features that would make it truly exceptional:
A 2.4GHz working mode that would allow for low energy consumption outside of gaming, ideally offering extended battery life in standard use, and shorter battery life in an intensive gaming mode.
Nearing Sensor for LED like Logitech MX MEchanical
An adjustable casket, comparable to the versatility of the Q1, that can be tailored for gaming or optimized for general use outside of gaming.
The addition of a knob or touchpad LED for enhanced interactivity and customization.
Improved cable management options that would enable the cable to be positioned to the side or top, for a cleaner desk setup.
Lower Profile - Without sacrificing switch travel
And finally, really good keycaps that promise durability and a premium typing experienc
doesent change the fact that i orderd one ;:P
LP HE switches when? 0.1-2.0mm
a knob has been leaked
Get rid of the navigation row, shift the arrows left one key and make shift a 1u and you have my ideal layout
you don't need that for working do you? i don't say i hafe the solution to this but i bet there is a possibility to reduce energy consumtion with sacrificing not needet precision wihile working
for real tho, HE takes up a lot more power than mechanical, so idk how that would go with a battery
For me, all I need to do is remove the LEDs.
Calder said that it is not worth because keyboard would draw too much power in 2.4 mode. So it is not viable
Wireless keyboards are kinda dumb imo, it sits stationary at your desk 99% of the time, and all youโve done is added another thing that needs to be charged.
The one time a wireless board makes sense imo is for use in a living room media PC setup where the board might be too unreasonably far from the PC for a cable
fr I really don't get it lmao
i have a wireless board never used it wireless
that's actually not what he sayed quite the opposit - he explaint that with the current design it is like that and that that's a problem wich needs a solution and that they prever to work on better performance than this
there are possibilitys for a desktop mode i bet in some years
It's not just another thing that needs charging, youv'e added extra cost to people that don't want it. Then you have to factor in battery degradation and replacement over time. Then also factor in the heat and space a battery does.
like logitech did with gaming mices with 1000 hrz for gaming and 500 for desktop to extend battery time etc pp
i really would prever putting a cable in for gaming and removing it for clean desk working
hard disagree - wireless is best
it's literally clutter
Wireless mice sure, youโre moving it around a lot, no cable drag is nice
Well only wireless mouse are good
Oh no, 1 cable,
๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ my standards are higher for cleanliness and aesthetics
best?
even wireless headphones are bad
wireless headphones have their uses, different case though
i have never seen my keyboards cable
actually i would kill for a low latency wireless headset that is OPEN
wireless just doesnt sound as good
So never?
you have wireless dongles and such just not that good
It can, audio isnโt super high bandwidth
wireless HE keyboard just sounds bad
It sounds pretty pointless
it sounds wire...less.
Sounds like shitty chinnese he keyboard tbh
no it sounds terrible
sound like something highground would do
Wired headphones/sets always. Less latency and higher fidelity.
still using my Sennheiser HD599 because nothing open comes out wireless all wiresss are just oldscool
Wireless can be good enough, but it's jsut that, good enough, it's never the best.
its not a quewstion that currently wires make sense it that it should be replaced as soon as the technik can do it properly
Wooting is on a mission to do the best, why would they accept all the compromises that come with making shit wireless.
wireless mice are only thing i would consider tbh
because they literally have no latency nowadays
Rn they are working On silent switches
So I dont think so wasting resources for small % of community
wireless kb is the superior form factor CMV ^^
Only thing that will be available is knob
what>
better adjustable casket mounting and premium wooting brandet keycaps would be really nice ttoo but well.. you can't always get what you want
I agree, the take control keycaps they have are tacky af lol. But I just hate branding in general so i would never use their keycaps anyway lol
Miffed that the wooting 80he case has WOOTING written on it
So you want gmk quality wooting keycaps?
Well branding is only on plastic case
So no branding is behind paywall

Have they confirmed the zinc cases don't have the branding?
surely not but thai hao quality would be nice
its not their main thing. keycaps are more of a side. their PCB is where they shine at
guys what do you think will calder leak anything in the next livestream
my problem is the 80% layout and fitting ISO DE keycaps
that 80% layout is simply preventing that almost entirely if you don't use blanks
NUMPAD
๐
We've locked him up and revoked his stream keys as a precaution.
Did you change streamkey?
Calder is gonna leak a wooting mouse
If it is g502 with 200g weight well
I'am buying it
Wooting headset with rapid sounding
mouse with magnetic switch and RT
