Yes. They used a cheap paint that came of when scrunching it a bit, that is the reason they delayed the white zinc and a lot of people switched to black zinc

You can see the old white zinc in every old review that is 2 months old

Hippo mentioned it in his video too

Hipyo thought he scratched his unit with his metal keycap puller (it was just light grey streaks that can be erased off) and squashy’s came with a small chip on the left side of his unit. Hipyo’s outrage caused a mass hysteria that resulted in Wooting immediately removing white zinc from Batch 2’s production and it wasn’t communicated until 10/14’s update that white zinc was not included with the original Batch 2 shipping.

Reading the latest batch update for EU-Brug, if I'm not mistaken it sounds like despite having preordered back in April, I'm one of the last keyboards to ship and a lot of the people who swapped to black zinc got theirs ahead of me (AND a voucher for their troubles). A lot of my time wasted checking this discord for updates when they knew what the cause was but wanted to see if they could have it fly under the radar.

That is easily the worst experience I've ever had with a company.

What's the point of parting with $500 of my money 7 months ago when I'm not prioritised on order date and someone who orders the 80HE today can expect their keyboard at the warehouse in 3 weeks.

Ok let's be honest here, the keyboard we are both still waiting on has had the worst luck ever for a package to be send. Let's list it:

• white zinc orders got black zinc priority for whatever reason;
• shipment got delayed over and over, from what we have to believe;
• customs held it hostage for who knows how long;
• black friday (which is at the end of this week) is making it harder to arrive on time;
• Christmas season has started (end of next month) so most likely more delay;

So now it's hoping the courier won't lose the package and when it arrives it doesn't have any defects, cause god knows how long it will be before that gets fixed.

Because people who purchased in March and April and had already received their keyboard but were displeased with what they received and wanted to swap to black zinc got priority over people who purchased many months later.

Well my order is from the 14th of March, do you find it weird that I'm upset that everyone who received it but was displeased got 2 keyboards in the timeframe that I have been waiting? I mean I'm from the same timeline as the people he described, yet they have had 2 keyboards now delivered to them while here we are still waiting. Is it that weird to expect that those would be the ones at the back of the line of batch 2 instead of the ones that got nothing so far but excuses?

oh and let's not forget those apart from getting a replacement earlier also get a voucher for future purchases. I don't know. I guess it's weird to be upset.
