Thats why Blackbeard recruiting his first guys is such a mystery, we dont know if he quickly found them after leaving WB or if it was during his time with WB and he convinced them to wait for him. Its possible Lafitte had a crucial part here as he is the only one who is old enough to have known BB b4 joining WB. So maybe they concocted this plan together as kids, then later while on the Moby Dick, BB told Lafitte to look out for some people. If you look at their ages, BB and Lafitte are around the same and then theres a gap and then the others are also around the same.

Went off a little tangent here but basically it would be pretty hard even for Shanks to find out Rockstar was a part of this group. Since almost nobody really knew or cared about what Blackbeard did during that short time frame and when he became known, they already were those 5. It was also 5 people who raided Drum Island so we have to assume Rockstar immediately was sent to Shanks to spy on him. Hell maybe he never met Blackbeards other crewmembers, only BB or perhaps Lafitte if that theory is true.

But of course, if Rockstar is a double agent this doesnt matter and Shanks did it on purpose

This was all in the same chapter, we see the doublespread of BB and his 3 men and know "well its not his whole group, Lafitte is missing" but little do we know Lafitte isnt the only one missing. Lafitte and Rockstar even have a similar scene in which they check if theyre famous themselves and get kinda humbled (Tsuru has to explain Sengoku who Lafitte is, Marco doesnt know who Rockstar is).
