Because of Mihawk and Zoro. I believe that when Cross Guild and the Straw Hats interact, it would have more of a serious tone, building up to Zoros final objective which is to defeat Mihawk. If this Davyback ever happens I don't believe Zoro would let Luffy fight Mihawk so the duel would have to happen right then and there and rn Zoro isn't at Mihawks level yet so the fight won't happen for a while imo.

I actually think mihawk zoro is in favor not against. It is ultimately serious if something important is on the line. I think it has to happen well before the final war if its not going to happen in the epilogue. Cause at the point where the WG and BB are really going strong its weirdly irresponsible to honor duel for fun while the fate of the world is on the line

I get your point but it's not irresponsible for Mihawk and Zoro to duel, it's literally their livelihoods. I don't think it's something to be ashamed of especially considering the fact that Mihawk purposely avoids conflict with the Marines and invites duels with ambitious Swordmen.

i think doing both of them independently would be too slow/take too long relative to the current pace of the story so they have to be together or lodestar has to get cut
