But is it for the sake of telling a better and cohesive story? What you say sounds good in theory but I dont get the feeling Oda is sacrificing something in order to gain something else, except the story being faster. If you want to use the argument that Oda wants to get done earlier with things then sure, that still can feel rushed but its not like I said I cannot understand why Oda would ever do this.

If you dont personally care about fights in this series thats fine, but its a series where a good chunk of every arc is used to tell its story via guys fighting each other, and to make the fights fun and interesting, there are power system that are simultanously used to tell more about a character and are connected to the lore of One Piece. We are used to this happening every arc, so if you took out the fighting portion in any arc, the reader could get the feeling that something is missing. So if we learn about another major battle that is very important to the story, and that the strongest most legendary characters in the series fight during it, we would expect to see some of that fighting, and feel like something is missing if Oda skipped over it, just like in any other arc.

Now I say "expect" loosely because Oda already built up a bit of the reputation that he skips things, and like I said I know that he kinda has to, because the series is already so long, so im not too surprised things are getting skipped. But something skipped is still something skipped.
