Something about #western-series it seems is it really feels like it takes a long time for shows to grip you. This was true for the wire for me and I still haven't felt gripped by sopranos after like 8ish? episodes. Breaking bad's done better than these other 2 as a first episode, but it really puts into perspective differences between #other-series and #western-series since it feels like the former really try very hard to grip you immediately cause everyone these days have short attention spans. As a huge Dexter fan I actually found Barry kind of hard to watch because of the similarities and couldn't help but see Barry as somewhat of a cheap imitation. But overall its a good show. I think the later seasons of Barry will be better than the later seasons of Dexter but as of now the first three seasons of Dexter were better to me. And it's gonna be hard to top season 4

A "normal job" acting vs foresnic specialist that alibi what they do for a living.. but at the end of the day they're murderers ||

Barry/Dexter || How Barry gets into this line of work is different. He tries to leave this life behind but being an assassin is what he is good at doing so it is challenging for him. Dexter doesn't have any ambition to leave his killing behind until later in the series. He struggles harder than Barry because it is more of an addiction and he wants to kill people. Barry doesn't actually want to kill people, and he feels terrible doing so. But to him, its somewhat of a reminder of his self worth ||

Dexter/Barry || even then there are nuances, and how each show goes about crafting their narratives. Barry focuses on how Barry keeps falling and is genuinely trying to be a better man but proves to be the exact opposite of that and driven by love. He is a coward who seeks to hide everything, so he kills more and hides more until the pieces all fall apart, which is drastically different from what Dexter does, which is basically a serial killer who hunts only serial killers and murderers. He is trying to hide that fact from the rest of the world. Dexter and Barry are drastically different protagonists with different goals and journeys. And when it comes to production, Barry is miles ahead of Dexter, even the new sequel. And I heard they fumbled that too. ||

Dexter|| I personally liked the character focus on Dexter a little more. I liked the inside conversations he had to coin his dark passenger. Dexter's plots had more moving parts. I liked all the layers to it (target for the episode, then the main target for the season, then the main plot of him keeping everything together knowing it'll fall apart) ||

Had lots of good stuff,first seeing jessey teaching that other dude about flasks and shit and repeating the lines of walter saying "It's just basic chemistry" was cool to see and was nice to see how much he changed in such short time . Then we had that little family meeting where skyler and all other family members speak what they thought about walter and seriously it was fucking pog when marie " Personally I would say do whatever u want walt" . Walter's little speech after that explaining why he doesn't want to get the treatment had me conflicted cause on one side I understand the concern of the family behind getting walter to be treated on the other side I also see walter not wanting to live out his last few months as a weak , bedridden guy and shit but it was sad to see him give in the end and agreeing for the treatment . The ending was damn interesting with walter and gretchen's call and I would like to know more about their history together cause it seems like they share a past and then walter deciding to cook with jesse again was best thing I could ask for . Like hey let's fucking become a kingpin and shit in our last living days and earn enough money to last for a lifetime ,that's sick .||

Loving it so far. Thr power system and mystery narrative regarding the Kesmiri's promise are the two stuff that makes it a really intriguing read. Using guns in a good way is something I really like in fantasy and most of the time a lot disappoint.
This is one of those which hasn't till now.
Wouldn't say thr characters are really thr strong part for me, at least till now. It still has that good balance of exposition and progress which leads to thr start being really interesting ||

Powder mage 1 ||Hmm i think charcters should get more likeable and deeper starting book 2 when the different sets of people that are relatively isolated rn start interacting more, but idk I just like them a lot, especially Taniel and Pole. And yeah, powder magic is awesome, it never disappoints. The other magic system isn't that interesting tbh, tho it does add a bit of variety to the magic, which would probably have been a little too shallow with only the gun powder based system. ||

@burnt lake Breaking bad s1 ending||Ok so yeah I can get why people love this series so much,just 7 episodes in the first season and feels like so much happened. The development of walter white from a normal person to a fucking badass who is not hesitating to deal with psycho distributors and is breaking in to steal the chemicals and shit is excellent. Other characters like jesse also had a good development where he transformed to a complete loser to someone who started learning the basics and loved how he eventually started respecting walter. Skyler is a very strong character in her own way, love the stands she take but I feel she can come out a little too forcingly ,idk I mean most of the times she wishes good but she can force her choice on others is what I feel. There is not much to be talked about the son .Hank is a cool and chill dude,I like him . Plot wise , I can't wait to see where it will lead up to as they have just started taking the babysteps and have just started to make money by striking a good deal with tudo . Also ngl marie stealing that tiara kinda felt weird and it has no definite conclusion as of now so that has me wondering ||
