@spiral quest Fellowship || I read through book 1 much faster this time around than the previous times, the prose and language that Tolkien used felt easy to read but the longer journey made me realise how much the movies cut, they basically cut like 3 chapters worth of travelling and Merry and Pippin's journey as well was cut of a bit short in the movies which I realised is for the better. Another thing is I'm glad they cut off the various side stuff they do on their way to the Prancing Pony in Bree, meeting the Elves, Tom Bombadil and Goldberry, getting trapped like 3 separate times and getting rescued by Tom twice. By no means were they bad to read, it was fine, but I think the story really hit the stride when they reached Bree and met Aragorn, who is noticeable more noble and less rugged in the book and Tolkien made him sufficiently untrustworthy at the introduction and I love how he plays off against the other members of the party. The Weather top stuff was very cool and I'm sure glad they changed from Glorfindel and Arwen, made the tension in the movies feel more urgent but regardless, great start to the story.||

I could probably read a longer version of it in all honesty. As for my critique, I would say that the prose was a little lacking. It wasn't bad but I felt as if your sentences weren't varied enough. Most of them were structured lie "noun did verb". It's missing a bit of nuance/subtext. It was almost like you were just reading off what was happening in a play by play. But that's something you can work on and develop with more practice, so you're good 👍 Over all good job, bro. Write some more and share with the #western-series fam. I wanna see you develop. ||

First off, good idea. There is some promise to this idea and if done well, can be expanded on a bit more.
Getting into the meat of it and starting with the first paragraph, your prose already feels heavy to read and will make the reader think you're pretentious. You're using more adjectives to describe things than need be and thus making it tedious for the audience to get into the story with ease and comfort.

This might just be my personal opinion (as I have heard mostly only praise about it), but the stream of consciousness deployed in Edouard Dujardin's Les Lauriers sont coupés (he's a french writer) felt kinda difficult to follow through/read... Same was the case when I read Ulysses... These are said to be one of the best books on inner monologue, and the Dujardin is credited to be the pioneer of that figure of speech iirc. That's why I was trying to lessen the amount of inner monologue (also the event that contained the inner monologue was short and kinda difficult to drag out...)
Btw Mrs. Dalloway is probably the only one in such lists that I thoroughly enjoyed, no matter how much I read it...
