Sinners || the film is not about them suffering though, it’s about them trying to live well despite that and fighting back when the world comes at them, nowhere are they reduced to people who suffer. Also, Christianity being evil is not the point, it’s to illustrate the erasure of culture that black people in America had to endure, which is also demonstrated by the vampires who want Sammie’s music for its power to see beyond life and death, that elusive veil, whose leader ironically also blames Christians on the erasure of his own culture. It’s to show that no matter what, the situation that the people at the barn were in was inevitable since reality was going to come crashing violently on them anyway through the klan already making its way there. ||

|| When Sammie goes back home, he sees that his people contrary to the vampires have completely given up on their own culture and music and peddle the church’s evangelical message but he realises that they suffer from the same sort of hangover from the destruction of their culture, their own individual cultural identity is destroyed and so he leaves and continues to be an ambassador for blues and music. But it’s the last day, before sundown, when Sammie truly had a day where he felt happy despite the situation and reality of that time ||

Weapons end || I liked how the final act seems to point out that the real horrors in America cannot be actualised, from drug and alcohol abuse to police violence to authority figures leaching off of the younger generation but Creggers decides to try in some way and make it fucking crazy. Insinuates that horrors are all within homes and within mindsets, love the reveal that Matthew (Brolin’s son) was a bully and it makes sense from how Brolin behaves in that aggressive manner. I think this movie very much clicked for me the moment I understood this movie was not about giving an arc to these characters but to show how evil lurks when no one really cares. Everyone in this town is fucked, from the police to the normal citizens ||

Weapons end || fucking hilarious when the witch realises she’s fucked and then it’s this comedic chase to a crazy gnarly end, loved the turn that the children are the ones to just kill her and in such a gruesome yet crazy way too. ||

The way of kings part 2 end ||nothing much to say besides the obvious. Set up some cool lore reveal in the future, the dialogue was good as well. The interesting part came from the decision Dalinar made. I thought he was gonna thug it out. I’m excited to see more of jasnah and shallan because I think that’s where most of our lore drops are gonna come from. Also I was pleasantly surprised by the technology on display here. Because I thought it would be some thing where they read the letter from jasnah and respond and they’d get it like hundreds of pages later but no, it’s the equivalent of a phone call. Really cool world building stuff||

Captain America ||Great character work although the romance felt undercooked. First half was really strong, second act was kind of a mess but its pulled together by the films last moments. The trailer for Avengers 1 at the end of the credits I remember people being stoked about at the time but keeping that in the home video version feels tacky lmao||

I'll watch Winter Soldier at some point in the future whether that's tomorrow or 2 years from now we'll see how that goes
