I must say, however, I find it compelling that Blackbeard might get Uranus. It's the one Ancient Weapon we know the least about (literally just its name) and it's a nice way to wrap up why those specific people were targeted by Imu.

We don't know exactly what connection Vivi and the Nefertari family have to Pluton aside from Crocodile's suspicion of its location and Robin purposely misreading the Poneglyph, though, so that's a hard roadblock there.
I can get on board with the Luffy, Vivi, and Shirahoshi ideas. Blackbeard is still a wildcard, but I can see it happening.

im onto something real good bois. let me work this up. It's been an interesting day theorizing after 1043 here and I want to present the most viable theory in my opinion

Vivi is most likely dead/erased from history by the fact that we haven't seen her since this panel and that luffy, shirahoshi, and blackbeard are all still alive and well. Not sure if she is exactly dead or just hidden away but that seems very likely

Updated theory of mine: Luffy's awakening = transformation into a "monkey man" or something like that. Just look at Gear 4 transformations into Snake man and Bounce man. The difference in his new upgraded form is him being able to wield a weapon like Nika or Sun Wukong's expandable magic staff (see pics) and lose the downsides it comes with being in gear 4 (time limit, can't walk only bounce, snake man being stuck in one position). Luffy will be able to wield a weapon like that and extend/expand it while coating it with Haki to resemble Sun Wukong. I believe this would be such a power boost considering Luffy never wielded a weapon to defeat a main boss in previous arcs. He can also manipulate it to what ever length or shape and coat it with Haki to reduce impact to his body during combat. Doesn't that sound a belivable upgrade?

I think my theory really stands out out of all the 1043 theories so far because it stays within the bounds of what Oda has revealed to us through Gear 4. I think it's not some crazy secret Oda's revealing like "oh it wasn't a gomu gomu no mi in the first place."

This also leads me to believe that Luffy is one of the 3 Ancient Weapons mentioned in the story. Pluton is a ship of mass destruction that Franky burned the blueprints to after hiding it from the World Government. It's been established Shirahoshi is Posiedon. But, we don't know much about Uranus (https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Uranus). It's also because Luffy's awakening unlocks Uranus, the World Government is so cautiously keeping tabs on the Straw Hats. Now, that he's unlocked his powers to be what Joyboy was, one of the three Ancient Weapons Uranus, in his time and now that the WG knows (through the other CP0 agent who's seeing this go down) the plot thickens

Luffy's awakening = transformation into a "monkey man”-esque form, taking after Nika’s silhouette (pay attention to the spear-like weapon he’s wielding) and Sun Wukong.

I’ll list out some important sources to start this out. Take a look at Gear 4 transformations into Snake man, Bounce man, and Tank man. Now, refer to this source about Sun Wukong’s 72 transformations (https://journeytothewestresearch.com/tag/72-transformations/) and most importantly his Ruyi Jingu Bang, a magical staff that expands at will, he received from Ao Guang (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ao_Guang under Journey to the West), he used to defeat a dragon king. If you read further down, you can go as far to argue that the the “phoenix-feather cap” he received from Ao Guang has some resemblance to the reoccurring Straw Hat theme throughout the story. This a well known Chinese folklore all easily accessible online and I think this may be where Oda drew his inspirations for what’s going on in One Piece right now.

I speculate what sets apart Luffy’s new upgraded form (5th gear, his awakening or both) from others is his ability to transform into a monkey man and wield a weapon made using his newly awakened powers like the one Nika is seen holding or Sun Wukong’s Ruyi Jingu Bang. The idea is this form would lose gear 4 limitations such time limit, can't walk only bounce, immobile while attacking, only able to defend, etc.. Luffy will now be able to wield and fight with a weapon that can expand and coat it with Haki, a combat tactic we have not seen before from Luffy. The key is that his Gomu Gomu no mi has been awakened. Luffy can now manipulate his surroundings, like the ability to wield and manipulate something like a Riyu Jingu Bang, apart from his own body to whatever length or shape during a fight, reducing bodily impact during combat. This is just one of many benefits of Luffy’s new form + awakened power. I predict that Luffy will use this new weapon and form to defeat Kaidou very similarly to how Law defeated Big Mom, impaling him to the ground.

I think my theory really stands out among the post-1043 theories out there so far because it burrows from other already existing theories and improves on it with all the details while staying within the bounds of how Oda likes to reveal and connect things together in the plot. I don't think it's some wild secret Oda's revealing like "it wasn't a gomu gomu no mi in the first place." As of now, I am not on board with Luffy’s fruit being anything other than the Gomu Gomu no mi. This whole Monkey man theory still works with Luffy being a rubber man.

This also leads me to believe that Luffy may be one of the 3 Ancient Weapons mentioned in the story, Uranus. Pluton is a ship of mass destruction that Franky burned the blueprints to after hiding it from the World Government. It's been well established Shirahoshi is Posiedon. But, we don't know much about Uranus (https://onepiece.fandom.com/wiki/Uranus), yet. I believe Luffy's awakening unlocks the Uranus in him, what the World Government is so cautiously keeping tabs on the Straw Hats for at the moment. Now, that he's unlocked his powers to be what Joyboy once was, one of the three Ancient Weapons Uranus, in his time and they know what’s going down in Wano (through the other CP0 agent who's seeing this go down), the plot thickens

So does sabo, Cat viper has it on the left side of his face nearly missing his eyes, Cradle has it on his right eye, Baron Dandan has it through his left eye, Brulee has it going through the centre of her face. Fujitora's is explained with his two eyes missing, but it's still a scar. I feel like there is less correlation with scars on eyes. I strongly believe that Luffy will form his own Ruyi Jingu Bang using his new awakened DF power. But, the katana planted next to the giant skull in Onigashima does carry some uncanny resemblance to the Ruyi Jingu Bang in Sun Wukong's tale from Journey to the West

I think that's because devil fruits have 'devils', which are sort of spirits/ souls and it doesn't make much sense for an object to acquire the abilities of a non-zoan devil fruit since they aren't sentient. Consider the gifters and how the animals have their own will to do what they want

I still think the raid will fail. Kaido getting a victory box was a good argument for it and Hiyori playing the Shamisen earlier means that the act is close to ending. I know ppl will say Luffy's about to get up but that's happened twice now and Kaido still won so it's a questionable counter imo

Real curious what he does when he realizes Luffy actually is Joyboy.. will his position in the conflict change? Or will he chase luffy for the fight and try to go down swinging? My theory is the gomu gomu was in the wg ownership because they wanted to clone it so they could continue their giantifacation experiments. With all the subjects having rubber their bodies would be able to withstand the drug effects and not deteriorate. They would clone it similar to how vegapunk copied other various fruit abilities. Ex. Kaido fruit, kizaru fruit.

This is why Shanks stoled the fruit because with that program being a success the wg would tip the balance of power towards them.

Now the gomu gomu isn’t the legendary fruit the gorosei talked about because at that time Luffy hasn’t even awakened yet. The conversation is placed at the end of 1037 to make us think it is a wano related statement but in fact it is their reaction to BB getting the “weapon” df he didn’t want the marines to receive.

This also lines up well with shanks warning the gorosei about a certain pirate. Since shanks and Bb have a previous unknown engagement that ended up with shanks scarred.

Now I won’t dig deep into what BB would use a legendary fruit for but if anyone is looking for powerful ancient fruit it would likely be him. Arguably besides Vegapunk Blackbeard is the most knowledgeable individual on devil fruits. Also it would make sense for him being aware of a fruit hidden to history because of his passion for strong df’s. Also Oda has said archeology is a hobby of his.

The most glaring example against my theory is why did they not just murder the level 6 prisoner with the size fruit?

The only suggestion i have to that is maybe with the experiments being able to control their size was off the tables. It could be viewed to have the same weakness as regular df’s with the inability to swim. Or maybe the size change is only temporary. With rubber and whatever drugs they use that process is permanent even if submerged under water or exposed to seastone.

After hearing this im starting to think that maybe what gorosei are talking is actually the gomu gomu no mi which was originally the light-light fruit and the story will become so much better if there would be luffy with light-light fruit fighting BB with dark-dark fruit

I like this and I hope it’s true. The thing that makes me doubt a whole new fruit is the Gorosei fruit is the fact that it’s got a fake name. That makes me think it’s a fruit we already know of.

I think the idea of the gomu being useful for gigantification is solid though. Gear 2 working because Luffy’s heart doesn’t get damaged by it feels like a good example of this being reasonable. If the problem is human bodies not dealing well with extreme growth, Luffy could take those drugs and not suffer

That’s a fair point to make, since this reveal doesn’t have to be solved by wano end we could still see BB get a fruit with a fake name and not be told about the true name til later. But that’s the only explanation that would make sense.

Bb having the encyclopedia might of tipped him off to this fruit then upon further researching he realized what actually happened with the renaming.

I came up with the idea yesterday and I don’t watch any OP tubers.

I think Luffy would of been the same with or without his df. More then likely it’s his personality or him being himself that is the larger threat.

Mihawk pointed this out to us during marineford that Luffy’s greatest power is to recruit those around him.

This could lineup with Joyboy and all of his companions. Not because of df powers but because of their ideas of freedom and people gravitating towards their light.

Joyboy represented the dawn of a new day and now luffy will represent this new dawn as well.

Also we might of had previous joyboys in the past with some dialogue from the sea kings.

First of all, I really like this theory and absolutely agree with the point of luffy's df not being the df gorosei were talking about , as we have lots of things to suggest against that theory.

Secondly blackbeard getting his hands on the devil fruit and the devil fruit being potential third weapon and shanks informing the gorosei about blackbeard indeed lines up well and sounds very good.

I have only one questions about it, even if shanks got to know that blackbeard got that devil fruit , why will he ask help from gorosei cause confronting blackbeard directly makes more sense to me as shanks is known for the direct approach be it going straight to meet whitebeard at first or be it stopping kaido from marineford, he has only relied on his own or his crew strength till now

Blackbeard has 2 devil fruits (confirmed) and he needs a zoan so what if Luffy beats kaido and blackbeard is gonna come get it and end his collection which makes him a powerful foe probably against Luffy.

Maybe because either he doesn’t want to personally risk his own crew with a yonko threat that would very likely not be negotiable. Or he might be using the gorosei to accomplish his goals.

With whitebeard there was likely little risk to contacting him and with Kaido he and his crew came out of that completely unscathed which points to some kind of agreement being made that was pleasing to Kaido.

With Bb there is likely no agreement or any way they don’t start an all out war which would probably end badly for both the victor and loser. With the victor being susceptible to a another attack.

Also he isn’t against warning ppl of threats like he did with WB

And the gorosei body language suggests that it wasn’t the first time he has seen them.

I agree with the whole theory but just can't think of the reason why shanks will take help of gorosei for this case.

Like about risking his own crew with a yonko threat , I don't think shanks is scared of that at all since he is a yonko himself and even more important than that he is a pirate and has choosen this risky path because of his own will, so I can't come to an agreement with that.

About using gorosei to accomplish his goal, again I can't think of the reason why shanks would go to such limits to meet them instead of directly confronting blackbeard, like if there was even a speck of hint about his and gorosei connection thinga would had been a lot clearer

Yeah I agree with that point that there is a huge difference between whitebeard and blackbeard and shanks knows that blackbeard is not person who can be convinced with reasoning but rather than reasoning I am moreso in the favor of the direct confrontation idea like shanks could had done that with blackbeard too just like he did with beast pirates in order to stop them from coming to marineford.

IMMA SHARE A THEORY so basically this is a spoiler but Luffy's devil fruit has actually been awoken and it is the actual devil fruit that has been possessed by the one and only joy boy but the devil fruit that Luffy has the gum gum fruit of course is not actually the gum gum fruit not actually rubber well it is kind of rubber but kind of not Luffy's devil fruit is actually a oil based devil fruit because of the fact that regular rubber fruit cannot do the things that Luffy has done with the devil fruit hence why he's able to use red hawk as fire can be made with oil
And that is not all that this fruit was actually stolen from the world government by shanks because it's that powerful

Basically all we know is he is tough enough to be considered great by kaido, can freely talk to the gorosei, and he believes in luffy. And he is the first to take BB serious.
