Hey #art! So I've been thinking about a possible idea for a collab. This isn't an official server event, just a pitch to see if anyone would be down. I was thinking of doing a redraw collab for Ending 15 of the anime. The ED's pretty much a bunch of static character images going across the screen, so it would be perfect for redraws. There's a TON of character art in this ED, so it'd just be one specific character/outfit per artist.

Might start this up in May after I'm done w/ this semester in uni, so just leave a reaction if you're interested in participating!

Its a rough area, if it helps with learning future stuff then yeah but I wouldnt use it for more then that, doesnt feel good at all or feel really learn something

I saw a video of someone saying that tracing is very useful for learning, and I’m trying it out now and while yes it looks good it also feels like cheating

Tracing helps if you are a rookie, though over time it shouldn't be necessary anymore.

Never do it for my actual drawings but I sometimes do it for references just to break 'em down easier

I do feel a bit guilty when I use them for refs but my mindset is they're not part of the actual drawing anyways so it's fine

Personally, I consider a rookie someone who hasn't developed their own style. The moment you can really let your hand flow without need to use a reference is the moment you can confidently call yourself an artist.

Everyone draws in their own, unique way, even while using reference material. You can try your hand with different styles, if you want to broaden your horizons, but you'll eventually wind up using certain techniques more than others.

Draw every day as in just doodle a random thing or sit down, pull out a reference and try to analyze and draw it

Tracing has it's place in art. It's a good tool to use when you want to learn a style, or you just want to practice and analyse other's linework. It's place is not when you want to call something your own, unless you source what you trace yourself (photography, 3D tools)

Actually thinking back on my photography class years ago... idk if you know this but those classical paintings were heavily traced. They would use a camera obscura to project the image of something onto canvas and work off that. It's certainly a valid practice.

like tracing someone's art to get a better understanding of how do draw form or gesture, or to practice proportion

So I'm working on a project now for this gig, once I can embed things or post images I'll show what I have, but the Jist of it is this:

I'm going to make a sketch of each and every Devil Fruit that hasn't gotten an official design yet. I'll be sticking to some aspects of my own take on this, as well as using some traits from the Magazine depiction.

Some things I should note about this are the fact that my takes and the official designs could vary wildly, but I'm gonna try my best to make what I think is the most accurate depiction of each fruit in its fruit form.

That being said I expect to get fully ratio'ed when my designs fall way outside of the mark so I am prepared for my inevitable death at the hands of memesters.

Btw I'm also going in order of appearance and I'm not doing non-canon fruits
