but doflamingo is a person from a different background entirely where his evil is backed by a system of belief he knows is bullshit but continues to push it anyway

I think at the very least Moria and Doflamingo will, the connection between Perona and Mihawk is there so her connecting the two would make sense to me and ultimately keep them relevant and engaged in the story, and the conversation between Doffy and Crocodile in Marineford is something I expect to come up again, be it a parallel or mirror of it or something, Marineford felt like it had a ton of Cross Guild foreshadowing in it so I feel like that conversation is also a part of it that hasn't paid off yet

Of course I would also expect Doffy to be using them to a further end goal

Cross Guild to me feels like a narrative vehicle to get many characters from across the series together and ultimately present at Laugh Tale for the endgame
