I mean I assume they would know considering Vegapunk made clouds very similar to those of Sky Islands for Egghead and he is in contact with the Weather Scientists who live in the Sky Islands, and IDK if he would have necessarily kept the existence of them a secret from the WG before he decided to start investigating the Void Century and hide stuff from them. There is also the fact that Urouge is one of the Worst Generation and has visible wings so it seems like the WG would catch on that he is a different race and we know they have a particular interest with different races and would probably want to find out where he is from and what he is.

Outside of that it feels unlikely that over 800 years they would have never found out about it and want some sort of influence there, since their enemies like pirates or the RA could easily hide out there and then they wouldn't really be able to do anything, even if they can't take all of it. Plus everything is pointing to them having Uranus and it being a weapon in the sky so I feel like they should have some knowledge of that stuff.

Again, and this is what actually matters, FMI is the place to stop pirates and other criminals from reaching the new world, and it took them centuries to make peace, which, even then, they didn’t bother putting enough navy forces down there for it to matter, since the place was infested with pirates.

I could definitely see there being an emptied out sky island under their control, I mean, uranus is out there doing its rounds, they need easy access. My problem is with you assuming that they’d care to dominate the sky sphere despite them not showing any interest in otherwise key points of the world
