I have the DVD with behind the scenes stuff. They used a mixture of cgi and actual costumes for the demons. Costumes mainly for the bodies, so that them interacting with the surroundings looks more convincing, cgi for the faces because animating faces looks better than doing it manually, mechanically

For the imp they used an actor who is very thin and tall, he has already a special body, creating just one costume for this guy wasn't easy
