Im considering getting doom eternal on my laptop (my laptop is still very powerfull), with 8 gigs ram, i7 core with 2.4 gigahertz speed (I can overclock it to up to 4 gigahertz if I need) and a decent graphics card although I am still willing to tone down the graphics alot, are these good enough specs to run doom eternal or should I wait to get a better pc.

very much depends on the graphics card in your case - those specs look fine to me and DE is very well optimised. I would guess you would ideally want a gtx1050/rx580 or over to be above 60fps.

Okay I just got a prebuilt pc and it can run eternal at high settings at >150 fps but it heats up the gpu up to 82 degrees Celsius.

The graphics card is a 2060, but even on the lowest possible settings with raytracing off, it still runs hot. The pc is cool, but the gpu says 82 C.

basically every single damn time I launch doom eternal
my game's fps is just through the floor
like mid to low 20s. The only way I can fix it is by going in to the settings menu, clicking on video, then changing the quality to low, playing the game and then re-setting it to ultra nightmare. It only seems to occur with DLSS enabled. Why hasn't this been fixed after 2 years?

Effectively I used a separate image scaler for the resolution width of the engine.

Sadly it's not that easy to do custom resolutions and the best bet is to play around with the image scaling

You can download the tool "Steam Achievement Manager" and unlock them manually.

Its absolutely safe, been using it for years. It basically just "emulates" the achievement trigger.
Its especially helpful for old games where you cant get online achievements anymore because the servers are down.
Or in your case, a error with the migration.

hi , I just transferred my Doom Eternal from BEthesda to Steam. Supposedly also my savegames. I had them transferred via the cloud. Unfortunately this did not work. It came the message everything in order, but when I start Steam and start Doom Eternal and want to check it, everything is gone and I start with a virgin game! What can I do so that my game saves are transferred? I still have to play through Ancidient Gods 2! Can't be that they advertise that you can take the savegames with you and they are taken over and then the shit doesn't work! Then I don't need the game anymore in steam! There were a few really stupid sections when I think only on the maruder... bäääh to do that normally... nooooo!

on steam to work to me i re made the conversion on site with steam cloud unchecked on steam

so i restarted te steam and remarked the cloud save again

also take a look to your save on cloud size, helped me manage this

for me the issue is the directory zipped

must be the exact on who they sugest

First, I assume you used the Bethesda migration tool, because you can't manually transfer the files, it won't work.

But I was having the same issue because the Bethesda save game migration instructions weren't updated until today. The actual folder that needs to be .zipped for transfer is the one with the long string of letters and numbers, and only the normal files can be in it.

What I mean by that is that because the instructions weren't clear yesterday, I had extra .zip files sitting in my saves subfolders (with the long string of letters and numbers) because I was trying to find out which ones I actually needed to transfer to the Steam cloud service to get it to work. It appears that those extra .zips prevented Steam from properly identifying my new (today's) transfer file so it just wouldn't update.

So delete anything in the subfolders that are not the actual normal files that are supposed to be in there, zip the folder with the long string of letters and numbers, then try again. Hope that helps.

@spring epoch all of the posts im seeing on running doom eternal with intel graphics say that they couldnt even play the game, most saying that it wouldnt render the homepage. you should just get your refund. running a game that requires a gtx 1050ti or gtx 1060 3gb with intel graphics is just not possible, and i have no clue how the guy in the video ran it.

ok im rewatching the video. they have the resolution set to 1200x700 (standard monitor size is 1920x1080), and he has every single graphics setting turned down or off. theyre getting a range of 27-38 fps. even if you could run the game, it would not be a pleasant experience.

so sorry to tell you, but unless you plan on saving up for a gtx 1050ti (which is around $400), you cant run doom eternal and you should refund it.

60 is really no big deal for modern (not older then 15 years) cpu packages, it starts to get problematic with 95+, but some CPU classes will not even start throttling below 105 °C so you are safe with your numbers

You could transfer the files to the steamapps/common and then have steam check the file's integrity- it would then potentially only download the necessary files

i think the problem is that you dash into the platform, which places you at the edge of it, which might cause a bug where you get knocked off. try just walking in the middle of it

SOLVED: As suggested in the Steam forums, put Steam into Offline Mode, start Doom Eternal, the game now starts as expected, (I played a little bit because I'm addicted...), quit the game, put Steam back into Online Mode, and Doom Eternal should be fine from now on.

Hey everyone! In the Deag Nilox cutscene, there is a prerecorded video. So far it kept it's aspect ratio, but now it is stretched if I play in some wider resolution. Does anyone know what happened, or what can I do to set it back how it was before?

hello! i just bought doom eternal - went through the first level with everything on nightmare + RT on, dlss on balanced, and everything was smooth at about 120fps. soon as i get to the second level, game reports something like 40fps with extreme pauses (3-4 seconds) and inputs sticking, mouse hanging. any of you seen that before ? (3700x / 2070 super)

setting RT to off kicks the framerate right back to 164

so strange. even in the menus when it displays 120fps, as soon as i turn RT on the menus become hell to navigate through with the mouse sticking and inputs being eaten or sticking

your issue is that rtx is simply too advanced for most pcs/consoles. A PS5 and Xbox Series X could do it but otherwise i don't know.

hey dude i have the same issues, the game keeps crashing randomly but all drivers and files are up to date. its an issue with the graphics drivers, they crash when you play the game but no one knows exactly why they do this and its totally random, one evening the game runs without problems, the next evening its crashing after a while (5-30 minutes)

I highly recommend reducing the Texture Pool Size to Ultra (or lower). From what I recall when set to Nightmare and above it didn't play well with RT at all, at least for me with 8GB VRAM at 2560x1440. Other than that, it could be a DLSS issue - sometimes turning DLSS off and back on again will return frame rates to normal.

I play on full HD with all settinga on high so with the game there is no issue and it is a fresh reinstall because the switch from Bethesda to steam needed a new installation

I have no Idea why the latest graphics drivers crash randomly but it does. I can see it in Windows event log that the nvidia driver crashes totally Only when i play doom eternal, other games that use rtx also dont crash, it is only doom eternal

Sorry to say sir but your hardware isn't simply capable enough to do rt at nightmare quality at high farmerates your best bet would be to turn down your setting to Ultra(which is pretty good too) and turn DLSS to balanced to get the desired 100+ fps

I have a pretty good setup (3080 mobile + i9-11900H) and Have turned RT off because the visual difference is honestly not that big bc the lighting is already really good and I can't really do raytracing unless I'm at 1080. my FPS takes a HUGE hit with it on

Well the consoles you have mentioned do indeed use desktop GPUs just modified versions of them the GPU he is using uses first gen RT cores so they are not that powerful had he have a 3000 series he could be getting nearly 100fps

This dude is using nightmare quality with rt and DLSS is also set to quality so he is most likely just maxing out his Vram (8gb in total) that's why his inputs are sticking and freezing because the GPU isn't able to load all the textures fast enough and so it's sticking the controls

So that's why me and another person suggested using ultra settings with RT so his Vram limitations can be solved

Apparently you can use the command menu_advanced_ignoreVRAMAmount 1 in the console, no idea if it works though, never tried it.

Agreed, poor performance or crashes will probably be all that comes of it. I would personally recommend tweaking individual settings instead - turning down the Texture Pool Size specifically can have a big impact on VRAM reduction without much impact on visuals, potentially allowing you to turn other settings up higher.

hopefully i can drop a few questions here about eternal, im pretty new to pc and a few things are rly hindering my experience :/

firstly is there any explanation as to why performance drops and becomes unplayable for the first 2-3 mins that I boot up the campaign (on UN settings) then becomes completely fine and plays perfectly after that - often it helps if i change one setting from UN to Nightmare?

and second is that no sound comes from my headset from launching the game - works on everything else but eternal , also tried almost every troubleshoot like removing drivers etc, and have scoured online but no luck its a wired steelseries, and sound instantly plays thru my speakers when i change, so kinda stuck :/ any help with these would be amazin

but seeing your problem i guess you are using a 1650 or something like that with low Vram that GPU especially struggles with high quality textures and performs really bad at max vram usage that is usually solved when you lower your settings

Hi guys! I have a problem with Doom Eternal (Steam version); when I launch the game, it runs on a random monitor (i have 4 monitors). Why? Also sometimes, my FPS are very low (50-60) and to maximize them to 144, I have to switch the graphic settings from ultra nightmare to low and back to ultra nightmare and then this fix the problem. 16gb ram amd Ryzen 5 3600XT 6 core Nvidia gtx 1660 super not as good as yours sadly 😂 I play on high quality on most things and when I play it sometimes it lags after I change it to low and put it back to high there no lag what so ever so it seems to be the game

Because after I change it it's always fine and I get a steady smooth fps over 60

It happens to me too, after setting "Ultra Nightmare" in the graphics settings, although the FPS goes steady at 144, for a few minutes the game lags. This shows that better hardware, it doesn't solve the problems, it's really a problem with the game

I would recommend not to use Ultra Nightmare texture pool. Set it to Ultra for an 8GB card. Not guaranteed to solve the problem, but the game seems to have problems allocating settings, and that's one of them.

I feel like it's a driver issue ngl. 6.66 rev 2 ran fine. and then it just suddenly didn't. ID didn't change anything to break it.

and we all use nvidia and have the same problem. I wonder if AMD users have any issues. if so then this disproves my entire thesis and means it is an ID Software issue.

It's possible. But the game has always had some weird stuff with settings changes. It can happen with ray tracing and DLSS sometimes too

yeah it's weird because the raytracing is fine actually. It's the DLSS that is screwy. somehow giving less fps instead of more.
Sometimes I'd turn it off because it's faster with just straight raw rtx

I don't know man. Sometimes I would load up the game and I would get 25-60fps
and I'd start flipping settings on and off. I turn RTX off and it is still slow af
so I turn DLSS off and I'm getting my normal 300fps
then I turn just RTX back on and I get my expected 70-90fps

That's a shame since with a 3070Ti I don't have much of a problem with RT. However I have to to make sure the texture pool particularly is at ultra, because at ultra-nightmare I sometimes get big drops when a new level loads with RT.

In the first big fight of hunter base, which I chose because it's the best place to see RT (though there are probably worse areas in the game for performance, maybe ARC), during combat at all ultra settings, no DLSS, 2560x1440 I get mostly in the 200-240 range. With RT it was more like 140-160. However both can drop somewhat lower when stacking effects such as ice bomb and flame belch, where RT was dropping more around 100 for a brief moment.

Though I seem to recall the first time I used RT with all ultra-nightmare settings I had to use DLSS quality to try and keep above 120 fps most of the time, else it was more around 100 FPS average, but I don't recall that well and I didn't test that much.

In the eternal dlc part 1

In the first mission, during the first archvile encounter, I interrupted his summoning and killed him

However, the half-summoned demons didn't go away

Instead, they began to attack me

But I couldn't deal any damage

Blood punches, grenades, guns, not even bfg did anything

They're still orange and transparent, and the carcass demons can still use all their attacks normally

Is this a major bug or is this a new thing in the dlc?
