Beginning is gonna be tough but as you get more weapons you can combo demons with them. It's super helpful. Make sure you upgrade dexterity so you can switch weapons faster.

I recently beat the game for the first time and it was a blast but I'm confused as to why there were so few bosses in the game and why they were introduced so late?

There is but it's only in very specific situations like if a imp is hanging on a wall and you melee them with the chainsaw they just explode and leave behind ammo or if a revenant is in the air doing it's charged attack

Oh, definitely avoid them when possible

Do them only when necessary

Glory kills provide little to no HP on NM difficulty for 2016. Only take a GK when Absolutely necessary. Once you get Equipment Power and the Siphon Grenade, Gk's shouldn't be done nearly as often

The reason being that even though it gives you IFs for a short time, the time taken to recover can get you killed

Blood Fueled could also possibly be another great addition to that rune combo as that extra speed boost can help you get out of sticky situations

Holo-swapping is so fast in it's swapping speed that each time you swap to the Gauss Cannon in a consistent swap, it only has a 50% chance of firing

You go below that, you lose and campaign resets

Other than that, there is no other way of campaign resets besides death in Ultra-Nightmare

Heavy - 3 pips(Hell Knights, Mancubi, Summoners, etc.)
Super Heavy - 5 pips

(This is amount of fuel needed to kill onw of those class demons with chainsaw)

Whenever I change what weapon I'm holding my secondary weapon also changes, I want to have the super shotgun and the rocket launcher out at the same time but it's not letting me. If I change the weapon I'm holding to the super shotgun, whatever my secondary weapon is just automatically changes to the normal shotgun whereas I want it to be something different. I was thinking Savagery due to the faster glory kill time, allowing you to finish the animation faster and thus getting armor faster

as you mentioned that may be more valuable in nightmare, but in UV considering you have invincibility frames whilst performing glory kills the increased speed doesn't really change anything

I think that's the thing about Doom 2016... it's a power fantasy in a sense, but you feel powerful because you learned a skill and you learned dexterity in the game, and you overcame that learning curve... it's so so hard, and so when you learn how to beat it, you feel powerful. It's kind of like what Midnight was talking about in his video on game journalists complaining about the DE difficulty

Well that's why games have different difficulties. It's okay to suck up your pride and lower it to a level where you're having fun

The fact that there are (loosely speaking) no hit-scan attacks in Doom 2016 is key to why it's so fun for me. I can just move to avoid the attacks, and the skill is learning how to move so as to avoid getting hit

Their hitscans don’t do much from a distance (Marauder can’t even use it from afar) since they are shotguns, but they are used to punish the player for getting too close

I still have to nail down Gauss boosting tho and I need my quickswapping nuscle memory back

I tried playing DE on nightmare early on, but when I got to the first Whiplash encounter, I realized that I wanted to practice at a lower difficulty so that I could observe how the enemies work

Yeah, I prefer to learn how the enemies attack and how they "work", and that way I can learn how to beat them, so I can move on to the higher difficulties. It's sort of like starting riding a bike with training wheels. It's not that you want to keep the training wheels, it's just that they allow you to learn the motions without constantly falling over before you can even start.

One helpful thing about HUD-less is that you can still tell when you are low health

You have to be extremely concious of your own health and ammo since now you no longer have a counter for it

If you get hit, you have no idea how much damage that attack did to you

You now need to be even more concious of your ammo and get more when you think you need it

It builds intuition and instincts

You're basically doing a run on instincts and will also help you on other runs by managing your stress and not panicking when you're in trouble which can kill a run. That's how it helped me atleast

Speaking of which, someday I'd like to make some Doom 2016 "encyclopedia" videos, where I document each enemy and its attacks, how much damage the attacks do on the different difficulty settings, how its AI works, how many shots it takes from each gun, etc.

My go-to for mancubi is usually either:

1. Combat shotgun -> explosive shot -> combat shotgun -> gauss cannon -> rocket launcher -> SSG(If they're not already dead yet)

2. Fully charged precision bolt shot, remote detonated double rocket, use tactical scope to land headshots until GK state
