Not aware of any mods like this. Most mods are on Nexus or Doom 2016+ modding discord and I checked them not long ago and can't remember anything like this. There was also a mod that changed light inside Combat Shotgun, but that's it.

Yeah, I just learned to be considerate of my surroundings. Glory kills can get you killed in 2016 if timed badly.
They're not quite the iframe mechanic as Eternal

I know there's a glitch that if I go to select mission and get it I wouldn't be able to gain the trophy of collecting all runes, but it's a new run and was the latest mission I finished, do I still can earn the trophy or do I have to make a third run of the game?

The graphics still look next gen, nearly 10 years later, and the art direction is still state of the art. Straight up timeless even.

Decoy and siphon are great distraction amd health recovery.

Install LegacyMod newest version (works with Steam version only). Add to Steam launch options:

Play in training mode with bots (not all maps can be played with them and 2 achievements can be achieved with players only).

Also for +metrics_xpmultiplier 10000 you can set any number you want.

I don't remember about specific details, but I have all MP achievements apart from sensor and gold related one (both require players).

Also, I had all armor and everything else unlocked probably due to this XP thing.

Triple burst is actually good. Once you fully upgrade it, you can double your damage output as long as you land all three shots.

It's incredibly easy.

Once you get triple burst combat shotgun mod and plasma rifle stun bomb your setup is good to kill demons. Plus runes you get later on, makes the game much easier.

I typically have glory kill movement speed boost, armor from glory kills, and glory kill range increased runes.

Just keep checking your map as you go, as you would with TDA.

Playing through DOOM 2016 again, since I can't play The Dark Ages. Still on a measly 3 GB card. The game still looks mostly nice and runs at over 60 FPS with almost maximum settings. I can't use the Nightmare texture pool size, but I don't think there's any quality difference from Ultra. And I can only use Medium (console quality) shadows.

oh, I just found out after years that the Ultra shadow setting in DOOM 2016 does work. I've done comparisons before but could never notice any differences until now, when I discovered that in a certain area of one level it actually causes a distant shadow to be visible. I always assumed it was supposed to increase shadow resolution and that I didn't have enough VRAM.
it doesn't help that a number of settings in id Tech games have misleading names. like "decal quality" does not affect the quality of decals, but rather how many can be rendered on the screen at the same time or such.

Rocket Launcher Lock On. Plasma Stun Bomb. Probably Hologram is also useful. I think they are pretty weak/fragile in my opinion. Archvile in Eternal is way more tanky (and I like it a lot).

Nah the Eternal one is more visually identifiable as a shotgun. My only peeve is the bit of metal bridging the two iron sights makes it look like the 64 shotgun from centerview, whereas the 2016 one resembles the classic one from the center which I prefer. It's a good design regardless but the pump having a 0.3mm travel is really stupid. Sorry but that's not loading any shells.

And yeah the Eternal SSG is better 100% although I appreciate this game's SSG being a stock ass coachgun like it should be. However the design itself is kinda eh, the frame is too thin, the barrels are way too long and the grip looks like a kid drew it lol. Doesn't feel very punchy either.
DPS wise it's a bit weaksauce too, but on the other hand the mastery breaks it in a really dumb way. I personally consider it the worst SSG in the series tbh.

First time playing this game so much different than dark ages. In dark ages you could throw a shield, parry or shield charge to get enemies low to 2 shot enemies with a shotgun but this game is rough. I just keep straefing forever sitting there hoping enemies will die after 4 pumps but I swear I’m having to like 6 pump enemies sometimes.

First three levels are the worst

I just beat DOOM 2016 on Nightmare without using the weapon wheel glitch. I had to beat the final mission twice since I used the Weapon Wheel glitch by accident at Spider Mastermind and only realized it after beating her, so I had to go to mission select and replay Argent D'Nur from scratch. No mistakes were made during the second time, and although there were quite some deaths, the second half of the game is definitely easier than the first half by quite a bit

I managed to beat DOOM 2016 on Nightmare guiltfree

But yes, as strong as you can get... I'm reluctant to call myself completely overpowered. Even with BFG, Siege Mode and SSG, you still need to strategize, of course. Call it get overpowered, but I'd say - it's mostly to get even since enemies deal crazy damage and have maximum aggression

The armor pieces achievements take the longest

All the other ones you could get pretty quickly

Even if you play relatively poorly, you get one or two levels per match, but the robot and cyber demon armor pieces require lvl 300 ish to get the challenges to start unlocking them

BFG damage is based on framerate so enabling weapon wheel after firing a shot makes you do more damage. For this run I avoided that. Or at least, I tried to. I used it by accident at the final boss and only realized upon rewatching my footage so I hit up the mission select and beat Argent D'Nur again.

Nightmare is a bitch in the beginning. And that's cuz of imp bullshit.
I imagine once you started upgrading and collecting your guns early in their secret locations, nightmare became a breeze with the occasional death.

I got less wary of them as the run went on. Having 200 health, an SSG, a Gauss and a BFG does give one a confidence boost to play more aggressively in places

Some people say 2016 is harder than Eternal on Nightmare. Personally... I have not beaten all of Eternal on Nightmare, but 2016 does give you some clutchy gear, not to mention enemies dropping BFG ammo with a rune

Of course the first three levels are tough as nails but that goes for Eternal too on Nightmare

Eternal's nghtmare difficulty is challenging and fun. Doesn't have the same difficulty issues that Doom 4 has. Doom Eternal on nightmare actually feels like the proper way to play.

Ultra Violence if you want to be punished while making mistakes to learn from. Thus making yourself prepared for nightmare.

Doom 3 and 4 to me have the most difficulty issues. Doom 3's armor is shit and should never play ultraviolence.

Doom 4 it's just the starting areas being the most difficult purely due to the player's momentarily limitations. And the rest is quite easy to push through.
Argent D'nur seemingly has a berserk sphere in every arena. Throw on your glory kill range, glory kill speed, and glory kill movement speed boost runes. whilst having your power ups fully upgraded. Then enjoy the gore show

I first beat 2016 in 2023, then took a looong break, then went back into DOOM late 2024. I beat the rest of the games between November 2024 and today.

That I still pushed on after seeing the Imps' insanity in 2016 Nightmare is in part because I did research on Nightmare and a lot of people said: Be wary of Imps.

SSG can be found earliest level 4 in a secret. Gauss cannon near the end of level 5 in a secret. You can get secret rock launcher in level 2 already.

Getting filtered by imps is basically the rule in Nightmare's first three levels

If you're lucky, an area-slaying BFG shot can give you a new piece of BFG ammo

I also used a lot of save-reloading to grind out mastery challenges (tho for UN I dunno if that's so easily done lol), getting Siege Mode and Max SSG asap

Also Mobile Turret. Mostly useful for the final boss but it's best to have the endgame loadout finalized as early as one can

In spite of that, of course it can still be hard. Stand still near an imp for 0.02 seconds too long and it could just be the end. I kinda enjoy it - you can't take much damage, but neither can the enemies. You don't just get overpowered, you kinda get even. Kinda since BFG shots are pretty crazy. The crowd control is no joke.

The end of stage 12 was the bane of my existence on my first playthrough on HMP (I was playing without guide and used awful strats, I did not use BFG either because... well I dunno why). On my second Nightmare run it only took a few attempts. BFG rips.

It's funny just how mediocre the hell levels in this game are compared to the UAC levels.

They put so much effort and time overdesigning the UAC levels adding random map decorations and whatnot, and the end result is these nice, semi-realistic hi-tech environments that feel very lived in, very believable, intricate, heavy gritty Doom 3 vibes.
And then for the hell maps they just threw hands and went 'yeah too much work, just put a buncha rocks everywhere'.

Gonna be honest, I still think doom 2016 has the best chainsaw in the series

It’s absolutely op if you save the fuel for a tougher demon, but it feels amazing to use just for the animations alone

They feel so visceral and rough, like you can actually see Doomguy’s anger as he saws demons in half

making a snapmap the kinda remakes the remake, it goes for a redesign of doom 3 to be a prequel to the original dooms (doom 3 is the only game where he shows up on the scene and everything has not gone to shit yet) its not going to follow the same level design of doom 3 but will be similar to how it progressed, this snapmap i named Doom Origins will feature tons of stuff from doom 3 including which is already built; a sprint system, a reload system, and even LADDERS. i plan to make this very close to how doom 3 was with the horror but still implementing the style of classic doom and the modern doom together. in #videos i posted a dropship i plan on using for the map to make move and hover around places, i even plan for a moment that ship attacks you. i have so many ideas for this and so far im really enjoying how it looks and i hope anyone who tries it does as well, feel free to ask questions about the map and il be happy to answer

Sincerely sorry y'all. I just don't care about anything that isn't the art design of the early UAC levels. They really hit a homerun with Res Ops, Foundry and Argent Facility and everything that comes afterwards is such a massive dip in quality in level design and art direction, flow and especially the new enemies that appear.

This is to say, the art direction does most of the heavy lifting. Which is kinda funny for people who are newcomers to the series and don't actually know/care about the intricacies of the level design and combat, because all they care about is 'muh gritty'.

Well those levels are relatively open, filled to the brim with secrets and Foundry and AF in particular with their nonlinear approach and the realistic, heavy industrial vibes are highlights of the campaign for myself and many, many people. The rest of the campaign just kinda pales in comparison because it lacks... just about all of that.

Especially the hell levels which are just a bunch of rocks and abstract rooms. Why is there no gore in fucking Hell?

It did, but I think TDA did it better than both. It's got the sandy barren corridors of 2016's Hell but a lot more blood and actual gore like Eternal. I love the dilapidated cathedrals and fine architecture like pillars and gateways and these giant barges.

2016's hell is just full of rocks, spikes and skulls. Feels very He-man esque, ironically more cartoony than Eternal. And it's funny because people seem reluctant to remember just how devoid of features it is, like they spent 90% of their time admiring the overdesigned corridors for the first 4 levels then memoryholed the Hell ones.

Overall I don't exactly blame them for taking it safe and slow. They kinda needed something to build off of and didn't really have the confidence in their craft that they have now, which has allowed them to excel in many departments they just sorta did okay at in 2016.

One of those being the Hell visuals and enemy composition/arrangement. I appreciate the less restrictive combat flow of 2016 too, but that comes at the cost of less engaging/layered, less in-depth, and as a result less satisfying combat.

It's mostly feedback/gunplay I have an issue with, the shooting feels pretty anemic coming from Eternal/TDA. It has to do with the SFX and the way enemies react to your shots, coupled with the lack of gore. Enemies just sorta get covered in jelly when you shoot them which isn't very satisfying.

Contrast to Eternal/TDA where they lose chunks of skin and even limbs are severed off.

Just a neat little pistol. I am allowed to upgrade it, unupgraded pistol only run would be abusive lol

Fully maxed pistol wasn't as bad against the summoner as I expected. I expected them and Barons being the worst to deal with, but Cacos are also surprisingly tough to take down with this thing.

I am allowing praetor tokens and it is allowed to damage enemies with the shockwave from picking up a power-up and explosive barrels and enemy infighting, that's all environmental damage. Berserk power-ups have to be ignored. Quad damage is more important than ever.

TNO had perks that would regenerate your armor and health.
For armor, continue racking kills to get +10 armor for every kill.

For health, do melee takedowns to heal +10. The health regen is actually very good. If you're 20 HP, you would then have 40HP cuz of how passive HP regen works.

The attack I find tricky is the one where he does this charge shot and then suddenly shifts direction when he shoots.

Hi all, decided to revisit Doom 2016 for the first time in about 3 years after TDA and I’n trying to get all the achievements and weapon masteries I missed. Is there something i forgot about 2016 with the glory kills? I’m trying to do the chain gun mastery on nightmare difficulty and it will not kill demons, I can only stagger them..

I haven’t a clue, I stood point blank at an imp after getting it staggered and just unloaded the entire chaingun’s mag into it and besides staggering it over and over, I couldn’t kill a single imp. Might just need to load a new level

He doesn't really change directions with the rocket barrage as far as I know

No grenades of any kind. No praetor tokens. No melee. No glory kills outside of necessary ones during bosses. No berserk power-ups. Just that puny peashooter.

Only other sources of damage allowed are through explosive barrels, power-up shockwaves and enemy infighting, that's all environmental.

I did the first half on Hurt Me Plenty and switched to lowest difficulty in the second half but even then I wished I was playing a regular Nightmare level with all my weapons again

Summoners were not so bad honestly, they are pretty glassy. They just run off often
