They’re very trivial, one for winning a match, one for reaching level 5-10ish, and one for playing 5 snapmaps. Unless I’m misremembering it’s only those 3.

Assuming you’ve just met them, try to find the rocket launcher in the Foundry, it’s hidden in a cramped set of rooms. Both mods are great for HKs. Default fire works too but you’ll have to time it well.
Its remote detonation mod is also great way for securing falters, which’ll take the pressure off of you for a second. You can also use the Plasma Rifle’s stun or blast mod to do the same- although early game that takes a lot of ammo.
Switching between the shotgun’s grenade mod and the assault rifle’s micro missile mod will also do the trick.

Definitely, but the gauss kicks you back a bit so be aware of that.

Yeah using the gauss against them when they do that helps you evade the attack and falter them at the same time.
The plasma mods and an SSG blast to the face usually interrupts that attack as well, if you’re close enough.

Yeah 2 volleys of lock-on rockets take care of them easy. They’ll usually teleport away if you try to close in on them so it’s best to use long-range weapons.
Faltering always interrupts animations, so a direct gauss shot can keep them in place for a sec, or as said before, plasma stun bomb.

I just finished playing DOOM 2016 on UV for the first time after spending five years playing every other DOOM game leading up to it, and I don’t know… it just feels like something is missing.
Out of all the base DOOM games (not counting DOOM 3 since that’s more horror and a completely different experience), this one felt like the easiest by far. DOOM 1, DOOM 2, Final DOOM, DOOM 64—all their expansions—felt like a real struggle to survive. I could explore, play the way I wanted, and exterminate demons however I saw fit. But DOOM 2016? I don’t know, it just didn’t have that same feeling.
One thing that really stood out was how overpowered the weapons are—mainly the Gauss Cannon and Rocket Launcher. I pretty much only used these two the entire game, and it still felt way too easy. I think I died maybe ten times, mostly to bosses while I was just trying to figure out what was happening.
But what really bugs me is how much this game feels like an FPS arena fighter rather than DOOM. Did they try to reinvent the formula? Because it feels like they lost something in the process. The originals had that mix of exploration, survival, and freedom, but this one just feels like it pushes you into constant fights without that same charm.
Maybe it’s just me, but I’d love to hear what y’all think. If you’ve played all the DOOM games on UV, did DOOM 2016 feel easier to you? Do you think it’s missing something compared to the classics?

I think, everyone likes what they like.
I didn't play most of Doom games on UV, but I played on Easy, Normal and Nightmare (very hard?). I barely played and remember old Doom 1, didn't play Doom 2 (if I remember right), didn't play Doom 64 at all, played Doom 3 enough, played Doom 2016 a lot and played Doom Eternal enough. I don't know regardring is Doom 2016 easier, compared to those, but I would say, if to play with upgrades on any difficulty except Nightmare, game feels easier than most shooters I played, since upgrades aren't well balanced in my opinion. I don't know, if it's missing something compared to classic games, but yes it's more of arena shooter, compared to Doom 1, but unlike Doom Eternal, which is basically only arena and corridor shooter, early levels of Doom 2016 allow some freedom of choice in terms of movement and fights. And all Doom games, I played have some exploration rewards in terms of secrets.

A levelheaded opinion on 2016 that doesn't glaze it to 7th heaven in big '25? Damn.

And yeah I'm not big on the way this game basically functions exclusively in arenas leading to corridors, leading to arenas. Every fight in this game plays out exactly the same, because God forbid the game takes control away from the player for even just a second and give the enemy the higher ground, or balanced enemies in such a way imps and soldiers don't cause 99% of player deaths because they're so numerous on top of dealing stupid heaps of damage.

It's like they spent 90% of the budget overdesigning corridors and filling up rooms with fog and smoke over ensuring the weapons felt actually good to use, or that half the enemies weren't useless, or that the combat could pull its own weight for 13 levels.
It may be more free-flowing than Eternal but that's only really appealing in theory. Playing 2016 is like hopping on GTA:SA to shoot peds with infinite ammo and godmode cheats on, and it's just about as engaging. I'd rather play one modded DE map and come out sweaty but victorious, than one 2016 map and be bored to tears halfway through.

Soldiers either have way too much health or the weapons consistently deal pitiful damage against them. It's crazy that a low-tier trash mob unit tanks 3 shotgun blasts at pointblank and a rocket to the face into a GK.

I actually don't have much trouble dispatching things quickly in either 2016 or DE. Especially the former since, you know, the enemies are considerably slower and can't shoot as good. Unless it's soldiers or imps in which case you're almost forced to cheese them.

You can also play modded master levels for 2016, which give you some challenge compared to vanilla 2016.

Intentionally gimping myself from the combat options the game offers doesn't fix the problem with the enemies behaving like lethargic bullseyes. The weapons are already a mixed bag balance wise. Cybermancubi barely do anything, Summoners are ineffectual at doing their job and die too quickly, Hell Knights don't lead their ground slams and are barely a threat as is, even mancubi suck at their job as a hard-hitting powerhouse. They're mostly just big and slow rocket bait.

I definitely agree about the difficulty, I would always complain in vcs when I was playing the game near the end because it just, wasn't difficult. I was playing on nightmare cause I was already familiar with doom 2016 from playing on Xbox, and it just felt like it was pulling way too many punches, even at the last level the fights didn't actually commit that hard to being difficult

Well, I disagree - removing these options gives you way better balance excluding OP/powerful tools/upgrades making fights on different difficulties closer to what I usually expect from standard shooters. And while, compared to Eternal enemies may be a bit slower and less aggresive they are still quite fine for what's is present in shooters. I may even argue that they are better in this compared to Doom 1/Doom 3. Weapons without upgrades/mods aren't very imbalanced in my opinion. Sure, each previous weapon is weaker than next one, but I find it fine for progression and weaker weapons still have their niche vs weaker enemies like fodder. I consider Cybermancubus strongest non-boss enemy alongside with Baron. Cybermancubus has armor+biggest HP, which makes it very tanky enemy, even though it's quite slow. Sure in 1vs1 it's not as good as any enemy apart from bosses, but when supported it's quite good. Summoners indeed too weak in terms of HP in my opinion too, but they are fast and good at dealing damage. Biggest issues with Summoners are that: they barely summon anything and most of the summons apart from summons in the end are weak/mid; there are only few areas where I would say they are supported well with other enemies; Lock-On is extremely effective vs them; Summoners are barely used in game; often they are first target for a player. But I still consider them quite fine mid-tier enemy. I consider Hell Knights quite good both in 2016 and in Eternal for melee mid-tier unit. Mancubus surely is weakest high-tier unit in 2016, but it's doing what it should do.

When you open doors there is checkpoint there and no checkpoint after doors/when you transit, I guess.

For those asking if it's still possible to 100% the game
First, sorry for my very bad english.

IT'S STILL POSSIBLE !!!

old school doom player, i used to play the game on ps3 iirc. I'm now trying to complete the whole Doom collection on Steam.

i ultimately got the last MP trophy today (cyberdemon armor piece), i started the game from scratch on march 9th iirc.
Played the game on solo and then switched to MP.
It took me exactly 22 hours to reach rank 8 and start the challenge (kill 3 times the best player of the match (x5)).
the 22 hours displayed in the statistics of my MP char only calculate the IN MATCH time, so you can add maybe 25 to 50% of the value (lobby, loadings, fails etc...).
You can count around 30 hours to go there imo (im a medium level player).
I live in Europe and used to play between 5pm and 11pm CET, on the weekend there's even more players.

Avoid the player "net", he's a cheater, his char goes to light speed. Otherwise, the rest of the community is nice.

Thanks to some of the people of the community that shared a lot of thoses matches with me : Elena, WOMBAT KOMBAT, fiat punto, the BFG team, the WTF team and many others i can't remind their name right now.

This weird softock glitch just happened to my right at the end of Necropolis. I think I staggered the first Hell Guard right as it was about to do the spinning flame attack, so its barrier was up during the glory kill animation. After that the flames from the attack had appeared and the second phase didn’t start. I still couldn’t shoot the center as if the Guard was still there.

I’m just glad this didn’t happen on an Ultra-Nightmare run lol

I’ve never heard of this bug, and when using saving throw for achievements, this never occurred for me. I would not depend on that resetting. It’s not intended to. You only get to use it once every life. Should only reset upon death.

I played more just to complete achievements and stuff my score went up closer to a 7/10 to maybe an 8/10 my 2 biggest issues this game been out for almost 10yrs now and I experienced so many glitches it was sometimes just unplayable. 2 I feel it removes a lot of what old doom had and makes it more into an arena shooter which got repetitive really quick. but overall its enjoyable the glory kills, weapons, and the slaughter u make is awesome but thats me

I have clipped through the ground, the rail glitch that launches u at mach 2, enemies spawning in ground or not spawning, and upgrades not being the upgrade i upgraded like i put in 2 preator tokens into ammo capacity and it put it on armor instead

Yeah it's usually accidental but it happened way to frequently and it made me sometimes clip through the map and appear in an old or new encounter

Yeah, clipping through the ground happens sometimes, especially when performing GK.
Rail Glitch? I assume it's when you become part of space program. Yeah, happens sometimes too, but rarely. I heard that FPS cap helps a bit, but didn't work for me (nor with this, nor with my mod).
Enemies spawn in ground sometimes - yes, but doesn't happen often thankfully.
Not spawning enemies is a rare bug, but it can softlock a game for sure. Probably most famous spots is Vega Core 2nd arena fight and 2nd arena fight in Argent D'nur.
Never had such issue with upgrades, though.
