Recently starting playing Doom 3 (non bfg edition on steam) after about...10 years? of hiatus. I've completely forgotten about 90% of the game. I recently found a keybind for a "headlight" option which turns on a flashlight while keeping your weapon out.

Actually yeah, I've played it on PS4 and had a pretty good time, the only issue with it is that you have to constantly press the trigger in order to sprint. It can become physically painful in the Hell sections, but other than that, it's a blast

The BFG Edition was a 2012 re-release of DOOM 3 that was meant to be friendlier to HD consoles at the time, i.e. the XBox 360 and the PS3. Unlike the 2004 game, it supports 1980x1080 widescreen resolution. It's a little brighter and a little faster than the 2004 vanilla game. It has about double the available ammo. Instead of having to choose between either the flashlight or your weapon, you have a shoulder mounted flashlight that can be used while firing your weapon. The graphics for all of the menu screens have been altered as well as a number of textures for both characters and items. There's a reworked checkpoint based autosave system. It includes altered versions of the original DOOM and DOOM II that are playable at the main menu screen.

Personally I do prefer the original 2004 vanilla game. I actually do like the original darker and more stylized lighting over the BFG Edition's lighting. I'm also not a fan of some of the newer graphics and textures in the BFG Edition. Sgt. Kelly looks strange in the BFG Edition. Also, you can't skip through cut scenes in the BFG Edition.

So, i've been streaming my re-experience with D3 after...over a decade away. Recently finished RoE (for the first time) and started playing Lost Mission (a mod that ports it to the original game. For the first time as well).
So far, the Lost Mission gameplay/missions i've done are freaking amazing. The entire atmosphere, objectives and gunplay is so damn good.
