hey, would anyone here be interested in a rebalance mod im working on when its finished?

i originally planned on doing it for myself and some friends, really spicing up the horror elements of the game to relive the first time i played, goal is rebalancing weapons mostly.
main gist is having significantly less ammo in reserve, and maybe bumping damage on the pistol, to give it a bit of a resident evil meets doom 3 vibe.

my one gripe with 3 is that you have too much ammo on your person, just wayyy too much. 320 shells is a bit excessive, doom 3, i never go under like 290 once it's all collected

Having played the game so far in Marine Difficulty, I really wouldn't say so

Z-Secs are pretty difficult to dodge, yes, but you can use the shotgun at close range quite easily without losing too much hp. As for the machine gun ones, you can also use the machine gun to dispatch them at great distances as well.
I'd say only the tentacle commando is kinda annoying because his charging attack is pretty difficult to dodge unless you have plenty of room to sprint away from. Even then however, two shotgun blasts on the chest at point blank range is enough to kill him. He rarely attacks (at least successfully) after that tentacle swing, because he's most likely blasted by then. Hell, if you're lucky, you can even get a headshot with the shotgun, killing him instantly, although that might not be very consistent. The machine gun is also quite effective against him, but I personally recommend the shotgun. As for the chaingun commando, you can use, well, the chaingun itself. It's really effective against them, both on big and small distances. As long as you lock onto him and move around while shooting, you'll kill him pretty effectively, without taking too much damage either. I'd say that the revenants are a bit more annoying, though also very counterable.

The lost souls are what's actually very annoying to me. Very fast, very small, and deal deceptively big damage for said size (which is apparently 12)

honestly after playing through the game on veteran multiple times, i can honestly say no enemies really challenge me all too much except for archies, which either get rocketed or soulcubed out of existence. really most of the enemies arent too much of a trouble, but yeah. honestly all the hard demons appear really late game so you don't have the time to properly fight them until you already have their direct counters

tentacle commandos are basically free cause if you crouch half the time the tentacle can't even hit you

Indeed, the Sprint button is your friend when using the Shotgun (Doom 3) and Double-Barreled Shotgun (ROE/TLM).

Despite the fact that we have mods from multiple time zones to ensure this place is safe and enjoyable for everyone, there may be cases when we are not looking at the chat. 3. Out of context memes kill conversations

Not really, Classic Doom could still be played at a much slower pace (sometimes it may even be required with the platforming), and you can play 3 with fast pace (but you'll have to either keep track of your stamina, or enter "pm_stamina 0" in the commands)

I see what you’re saying, but here’s a few things: Sure, but you’re forgetting to mention that Doom 1, 2, and 64 were to be fast paced for their time. I get some areas in some maps are to be taken with ease, and I can understand that. Everything else though? Monster encounters for 90% of the time are supposed to be fast action, which the recent 2 mainline games do, but better. In my honest opinion, I took points away from 3 because I wanted fast paced action, and the game rarely had it and I got bored most of the time.

Again, I will reiterate, Doom 3 is not bad.

For a rebooted Doom 1, it could’ve had more work done in it to make the game more memorable

And I completed 2016 and it’s WAY more memorable because it had a much better direction for where it was going in terms of a rebooted Doom 1

Well that's a waste. The GOG version of the BFG Edition doesn't let me play the multiplayer.

The GOG version of the OG Doom 3 on the other hand won't let me play at all because it says that I have an invalid CD key.

The only downside with the OG Doom 3 right now is that the multiplayer is a ghost town.

That's why I'll probably just stick with the 2019 version on my Xbox Series X and my Switch. If nobody plays the multiplayer, then what's the point of having both the OG Doom 3 and the BFG Edition version?

Doom 3 itself did a good job with UAC (and unfortunately for us, the UAC from Doom 3 now feels like a parody of actual politics), so Doom 4 could've explored more of how they came to be, the first hell invasion/s, and/or even go more into the martian race

I once bought the Steam version of the BFG Edition and refunded it after realizing that no one plays the online multiplayer. Now I have the Xbox 360 version, but I might sell it because of the same problem I have with the Steam version.

were made on that

they released the bfg edition later and the codebases are kinda different

hence why the og has more mod support

people already modded in more graphics to make it way better than bfg can ever get
