I've been enjoying my no-saves style but if I were to move on to harder maps I'd probably shift to a checkpoint system

maybe I get one blind run with my stuff from the last map and if I die then i do pistol start with saves

#

that could be fun

violet sundial
#

btw is there a consensus on how dark is too dark?

#

Doom II seems a lot darker than Doom lol

#

It seems like some areas the only light we're meant to have is the chaingun firing

so 1 is way too dark?

I put mine at 5, idk if the numbers are universal tho

pretty much just anything on the original Doom engine I think

as far as this channel goes at least

violet sundial
#

I died first time in the pit

#

I blew up a rocket in my face while trying to kill a pain elemental

#

I did the same thing the next time except I had more HP

#

You'd think I would stop using rockets on pain elementals

#

Was trying to conserve ammo though

hard tangle
#

Yea Rockets are the worst when fighting Pain Elementals jsjsjs

remote cedar
#

Pain Elementals aren't even at their worst in Doom II

#

the Doom 64 Pain Elementals are so much worse

void hemlock
#

never do that, you know rockets have have a blast diameter

void hemlock

but to do that you need to be directly in front of them so you can spawn-frag the lost souls that it shoots

#

but then once it reaches it's death state, chaingun and RUN

violet sundial
#

It just requires some extra care

#

I have 3 items left on Doom II M10 :(

void hemlock
violet sundial
#

Are these like some bugged/impossible items?

#

Is it something to do with this this blue light?

void hemlock
#

there is some secret doors you may have missed

violet sundial

I found all the secrets

I killed all the enemies

#

Really wasn't as bad as the first time tbh, this map scared the hell out of me

#

Helps a bit that I didn't run out of ammo fighting revenants and arachnotrons

#

Ohhh it was the shotgun in the beginning

I saw the door on the map lol

Just under 1 hour ;~;

violet sundial

tbh I really like downtown it's terrifying

Also from what I could understand from reading, it may be caused by something being rendered out of view (like a mouse with too high of sensitivity or a text screen being too long)

I genuinely can’t find much on it at the moment, you could also try a different DOSBOX version or a fork of it just to see if that fixes it

Ok, just found this in a GitHub issue that apparently does relate to the original executables

Just a random tid-bit of info, Doom Launcher actually has a built-in frontend for the idgames archive iirc

#

I've actually found the built-in Addons menu in the Unity port more annoying to use just because of the fact you need a Bethesda account to even access it and the fact it constantly logs me out

fair enough, I've just been so used to hopping online, downloading the WAD I want, and shoving it into the terminal, and more recently into my Doom launcher

No

Unless you're a completionist there's simply no reason to play TNT

kk

#

what about plutonia?

remote cedar
#

Plutonia isn't mandatory but it's definitely a good challenge

lost trout
#

plutonia preps you for hr and other harder mapsets

cursive cipher
#

What does completions even mean? Beating every map in existence?

#

TNT is more levels. If you're into more Doom levels then it's worth a shot
Plus it has the neat history around it.

remote cedar
#

It means completing every map in every Doom game, simply enough

lost trout
#

do you mean IWADs or PWADs

remote cedar
#

I don't find TNT to be particularly fun to play, nor is it a good challenge like Plutonia

remote cedar
lost trout
#

so an IWAD is sorta like an "official" DOOM wad. Doom, Doom 2, Final Doom are the IWADs. PWADs are basically fanmade maps. They require an IWAD to play and are loaded aside IWADs.

remote cedar
#

IWADs it is then

lost trout
#

IMO DOOM and Plutonia are the good IWADs in terms of maps. Plenty of good PWADs like Hell Revealed and Alien Vendetta.

#

I can vouch that Bridgeburner the mod here has made some spectacular maps. Far better than any IWAD map IMO - but also more recent.

azure nimbus
# lost trout so an IWAD is sorta like an "official" DOOM wad. Doom, Doom 2, Final Doom are th...

@remote cedar This isn't the case. The distinction isn't about whether it's official or not. For example freedoom1.wad is an IWAD and NRFTL is a pwad. But freedoom isn't ID licensed whereas NRFTL is. The distinction is that an IWAD has all of the data necessary to be used in the game: levels, textures, sprites, music, sound effects, Whereas a PWAD cannot run on its own as it needs to be Patched onto an IWAD to run. This distinction is important for map makers because the source code(the logic and engine) for doom is free to use (which also means that derivatives like boom, mbf, mbf21, zdoom are fully legal) whereas the sprites and textures and the like are not free to use. So if you want to play a mod, the legal requirement is either a) using a free alternative for the visuals and audio like freedoom, OR purchasing doom2.wad for the textures and sprites.

You could, and many have, play every IWAD, within a couple hours even. Though playing every PWAD is just not feasible. There are thousands and thousands of custom maps that have been made

Some fictional media portrays the blood of demons as hot as fire or lava.

void hemlock

I do also question if in classic Doom lore if Revenants and Lost Souls are related in some way though, but that's just me

Classic Doom lore is highly unorganized, basic, and strange, while modern's is somehow well-written for the most part

honestly it might be similar with how quickly they hit the 21 lost soul limit

like at a certain point, more PE's doesn't really matter in vanilla

but the lost souls count as projectils when the PE's spawn them, so if they hit a barrel, its like a domino effectg

Natural, but after the momentum I briefly had when reaching there (Finally beating The Twilight, then Cyberden in one run, then reaching what I presume was the final significant encounter of Go 2 It - the section by the opening with a ton of Chaingunners?), it's definitely frustrating.

#

The third wave in the Courtyard is just painful; by the time I'm able to attack those Archviles from the balcony with more than one BFG shot, I get slammed with Revenant/Arachnotron attacks, and once I dodge those, half the planet has been resurrected and are now demonic shields for the Archviles.

#

I've got a loose strategy of using the eastern corridor as a way to stream Archviles and Revenants out, but it's difficult to build off of that without just getting trapped and blown apart, even with the spare Megasphere.

azure nimbus
#

it's ok to take it slowly. That's the safest way to do these old-style slaughter maps. I think of a map like this as a fortress. Different parts of the map defend other parts. Random question but I can’t find an answer on google. How the hell did doom 2 release so quickly? They had a small team and released doom 1 it says in December of 93 but then in may of 94 released doom 2 that’s barely 5 months later

hexed escarp
#

It was built off of doom 1 so it only required some minor extra code to add the attacks of the new monsters and some extra actions, and reused most of the doom 1 textures so they didn't need to make that many textures, and then they just made Sandy Peterson grind half of the levels

azure nimbus
#

chaingunner has 70 health. Shotgun does 5,10, or 15 damage with each of its 7 pellets. So you need at least an average shot to kill them even with a full 7 pellets. This means that your probability of OTKing them is at most 1/2. But in reality, you probably aren't hitting every pellet so the real probability is less

pwad is to distinguish from iwad, the latter being the complete data for the game (Doom 1, Doom 2) and the former being a "patch" wad which just adds or overwrites the info on the iwad
it's why you need both an iwad and a pwad to load any custom stuff

Iwads are the backbone of what Doom experience you want (Integral WAD)

Pwads (Player-WAD) are the add-ons/expansions that goes beyond the integral Doom 2 experience (the IWAD of Doom 2) and enhances it in some way (different levels, sounds, textures, etc)

Iwads: Doom, Doom 2, Plutonia - Integral standalone Doom content

Pwads: Brutal Doom, Amogus.pk3, Hell Revealed - Player Created Content that uses an IWAD as its springboard

#

I hope that clears up some confusion

void hemlock
#

They ask which one to boot with because all of the IWADs are different. Yes, even TNT and Plutonia are different because they have id Tech 1 engine changes.

#

IWADs provide the engine, while PWADs have other content inside to add onto the main engine (or just resource changes like PK’s Doom HQ SFX pack)

vale gyro
void hemlock

to put it simply, you need the IWAD to run the PWAD

violet sundial

violet sundial

IWADS don't have the engine. The engine is the physics and numbers. IWADS have assets like sprites and textures. While pwads may have assets too, IWADS have the base ones required to modify

hello doom people, I'm currently doing a project I'd like to turn into a youtube video series doing an analysis of all the demons from doom - including their game design, appearances including speculative biology and their cultural significance

#

unfortunately I was born after the releasees of doom 1-3 and was curious if people would be willing to answer a survey about their memories of each demon type from the original games. I'm currently doing my "research" and am half way through Doom II, but would like to get the insight of people who actually played those games when they were released to see what they think - without the biases that I've developed growing up with games that have better graphics and with the soft-rebooted designs of 2016 and eternal in my mind

hexed escarp

if anyone is familiar with mbf21 dehacked, im struggling with something

im trying to make an enemy that throws grenades

but when I call A_MonsterProjectile with a projectile that does not have the MISSILE flag, but the BOUNCY flag instead, it just drops straight down instead of going at the player

i could use A_SpawnObject instead and give it forward velocity

hushed loom
#

2 questions, how do I learn how to make mods and is it possible on a Mac

hexed escarp
#

but then it wouldnt be able to throw them at you if you are at a different height than them

hexed escarp
hushed loom
#

I honestly have no idea, my 8 year old son and I have been playing doom 1993 on our Xbox and we were watching YouTube videos on mods and he’s very interested in trying it himself. I have no idea how difficult it is or if it’s even possible for a kid. If not I want to try and help can watch

hexed escarp
#

well yes, you can create doom mods on mac, however you would not be able to play them on your xbox

#

but you could if you got doom on your mac or a pc

#

there are two main types of mods

#

gameplay mods, which add and change the enemies and weapons of the game

#

and there are maps, which are custom environments for you to play in

#

instead of the default levels

#

i will say, if you want to get doom on your computer, you should get doom 2 because it is much more versatile for modding since it has more enemies

#

and the majority of mods and maps are made for it

#

if you are interested in gameplay mods, look up a tutorial for ZScript online, it is a primitive programming language that is used get edit the monsters and weapons of the game

vale gyro
#

Just adding onto Enator’s second message here. You could either run a Windows VM (if that’s even still possible with Apple’s new Mx APUs) or use mapping/modding tools made for Mac. Though I can’t tell you how good those said tools are

hexed escarp
#

if you are interested in maps, look up a tutorial for the slade map editor

hushed loom
#

The whole concept seems insane to me lol when people replace weapon designs or characters are they like drawing these and putting them in the game ?

hexed escarp
#

either drawing them from scratch or editing existing sprites

#

and then writing code for them using either the ZScript coding language or something else

hushed loom
#

Ok thank you very much I’ll check that out first, I gotta figure out how to first get doom playable and we can play through some mods

hexed escarp
#

and then you want to buy Doom 2 on steam or gog (two game selling platforms)

#

and then when you run gzdoom, it should detect the installed game on your computer

#

and it will let you play with mods

vale gyro
hexed escarp
#

ah

hushed loom
#

Ah ok I did download that gzdoom but didn’t know how to get it to run my dumb self didn’t buy it yet from steam

vale gyro
#

You need to do some specific stuff with Macs

hexed escarp
#

in that case, once you install the game from steam, you need to go into your steam files and find the file called doom2.wad and move it to your gzdoom folder

hushed loom
#

Ok

#

Thank you guys

vale gyro
#

At least on M1 Macs, you need to put the IWAD in the Application Support folder

#

GZDoom should just scream out an error message telling you where to put it when you first run it, though

hushed loom
#

That’s what I have an M1 just never tried to game on it only used it for work. Maybe I’ll get a pc some time in the future

hexed escarp
#

although with pc you can use ultimate doom builder which is by far the best level editor

#

i dont know if you are interested in making maps or just gameplay mods, but look into udb if you are

vale gyro
#

Maybe you could compile it???

#

I know it’s source is up

#

God knows if you can actually compile it to Macs

hexed escarp
#

yeah but thats a much more difficult project lol

hushed loom
#

Eventually I definitely want to learn maps and gameplay but I’ll start slow

vale gyro
hexed escarp
#

worst case scenario, you could run it in wine or another windows virtual machines

vale gyro
#

At its most basic form

hushed loom
#

So when you load up gzdoom are all the mods there to try or how to you find them?

vale gyro
hexed escarp
#

im not sure the exact process of loading them though

vale gyro

M1’s are inherently ARM

hexed escarp
#

yeah thats true

vale gyro

vale gyro
hushed loom
#

That’s awesome, yea I’m 30 but growing up we only had consoles I never really messed with any computers

vale gyro

Doom sourceports actually taught me the command line

#

That or batch scripting

#

Off-topic anyways

hexed escarp
vale gyro
#

I already saw your message in the other channel

hexed escarp
#

ah ye ah

vale gyro
#

And no, sadly not

hexed escarp
#

ah ok

#

there is very little documentation, so i have been digging through the woof source code to try to figure out how the fuck things work

vale gyro
#

I’m more into the occasional dip with standard dehacking

vale gyro
#

Think kraflab has a repo for MBF21

hexed escarp
#

no ive been referencing that

vale gyro
#

Oh

hexed escarp
#

but it has like a 1 sentence summary of each codepointer

#

and then details about the args

#

im trying to figure out the specific behaviors

vale gyro
#

MBF21 dehacking stuff, right?

hexed escarp
#

yeah

vale gyro
#

I might look into it if I ever get the urge to, then

hexed escarp
#

in terms of mapping, boom, mbf, and mbf21 are nearly the same, just with a couple extra specials andd stuff

#

mbf and mbf21 just add a ton of new codepointers and stuff

vale gyro
#

Though

hexed escarp
#

and if you are using mbf21 in conjunction with dehextra (which is supported by all of the same ports) you get a ton of blank states and things to play with

vale gyro
#

I think there was this MBF or Boom example for a grenade launcher for the player

#

You could maybe reference that?

hexed escarp
vale gyro
#

Welp, I got no more ideas, then

hexed escarp
#

the problem is that just edits rockets andd calls the default player rocket shoot codepointer

#

which seems to propel the entity despite it not being a missile

#

whereas A_MonsterProjectile does not for some reason

vale gyro
#

Wait

#

Actually, nevermind

hexed escarp
#

the thing that mbf21 does is it adds codepointers that have arguments

vale gyro
#

Was gonna mention using the attack from the cyber but that’s just gonna edit the player missies, too

hexed escarp
#

and the cyberdemon lol

hexed escarp
#

but im trying to figure out why it doesnt propel the grenades while the fixed player codepointer does

#

when they should just be calling the same P_SpawnMissile function just with different parameters

vale gyro
#

Off topic but I did find this absurd variable name in Crispy Doom’s automap code for a vanilla line drawer

#

Was thinking on trying to port Crispy’s flashing keyed doors into Chocolate as a weekend project I could attempt and stumbled into that

hexed escarp
#

what is the variable name?

vale gyro
#

It was quite literally labeled ā€œf**kā€ (albeit not censored)

#

It said it was using bresenham's line algorithm, so I’d assume the variable was for the error correction or whatever it was called

#

Just found it funny that it was just called that for no reason

hexed escarp
#

lol

vale gyro
#

Reminds me of how I name my test variables random objects I think of

hexed escarp
#

is that from crispy doom or from the original source

vale gyro
#

It was labeled as an addition from crispy

hexed escarp
#

ah

#

that reminded me of something funny

#

you know the fast inverse square root code in quake 3?

vale gyro
#

Oh yeah

#

Those comments are kinda funny

hexed escarp
#

im not even talking about the comments

#

i love how he makes the variable threehalfs to store the constant 1.5, but then just plops the 0x5f3759df right in the middle of the code

vale gyro
#

lol

#

Anyways, I still can’t understand how including .NET made my Doom launcher 132MB

hexed escarp
#

lol

vale gyro
#

That was a 131MB increase to not including it within the binary

hexed escarp
#

heh

vale gyro
#

Also, how to get myself to start playing TNT again?

#

I found it fun, I just haven’t touched it in a bit

#

Mind you, I haven’t finished it yet

hexed escarp
#

what

#

oh i read that with the wrong inflection

vale gyro
#

Anyways, probably gonna go ahead and play TNT

hexed escarp
#

wait

#

i just had an idea for the dumbest solution of all time

#

mbf21 has a codepointer for adding or removing thing flags

#

so what if i just had the grenade be a missile for 1 tick

#

and then remove it

vale gyro
#

That might actually work

#

If you’re going for a grenade launcher, though

#

You could make it go longer than one tick

hexed escarp
#

nah its just an enemy chucking grenades

#

i found sprites for a chaingunner with no chaingun that just goes and punches you

#

so i recolored it, and used the punch sprites as throwing

vale gyro
#

You making a map or something?

hexed escarp
#

im messing with making custom enemies and il probably try to make a map with them when im done

#

just having some fun with decohack

vale gyro
#

Because honestly

#

The grenade guy could work as a sorta weaker pain elemental when it comes to constricting areas

hexed escarp
#

yeah

#

the other things ive added are a winged imp

#

to act as a weaker cacodemon, since ive found when mapping sometimes that il want enemies to be flying over an encounter, but cacos just have so much health

#

also i added a plasma gun zombie which i called the former commando

#

that runs around and fires burst of plasma

#

kinda like the evil marines from scythe 2 but less obnoxiously fast

vale gyro
#

Give the pinkies shoulder mounted cannons

hexed escarp
#

im not editing existing enemies

vale gyro
#

Oh yeah, make the map fast monsters only

hexed escarp
#

im adding custom new ones

#

to use along side the existing roster

vale gyro
#

I know, I’m just being weird

#

But, seriously. A fast pinky that could also do ranged attacks like a cyber would be horrible

hexed escarp
#

yeah

#

also this was more of a test than anything, but you know how plutonia sometimes had those setups to have an archie resurrecting a chaingunner?

hexed escarp
#

well i made a helper thing that is just invisible and you can put wherever and it will just endlessly resurrect any monsters that die on it

#

so you could do that more easily

vale gyro
#

You’re evil

hexed escarp
#

idk if il actually use it anywhere

#

i was kinda just messing around

vale gyro
#

Though

#

You could make rooms marked by Sigil eyes that are indicators of respawning enemies

#

If you do make a map, that is

#

Ok, I just got an idea how to replicate buff totems sort of now

#

Take a Sigil eye switch that turns on crushers that crush hidden archviles

hexed escarp
#

hmmm

#

removing the flag does not seem to have worked

#

it just continues to be a missile

#

thats annoying

#

whats the point of remove flags if it doesnt actually affect anything

#

maybe it only works with certain flags

#

ok im confused now

#

i found the code that sets the momentum of the missile

#

but im really confused why it doesnt work for the grenade

#

but does work when its a player codepointer

#

WHY IS THIS GAME SO JANK

hushed loom
#

It’s insane to me that a small team made doom 1 and 2 in like a year but then took so long for a proper sequel. Why didn’t doom 3 come out a few years later at least be like 2 but 3d with jumping and ability to look up and down

Oh

#

Am i able to get other weapon packs for gzdoom vr like they have in questzdoom?

plucky needle
#

what is the best setings ?

#

for doom 1993

vale gyro
vale gyro
plucky needle
vale gyro
#

completely depends on that plus what you’re aiming for

vale gyro
# plucky needle wdym

like what you’re using to run the game (GZDoom, Woof, Chocolate, DOSBOX with the original EXEs, PrBoom+, etc,.)

plucky needle
#

gzdoom

vale gyro
#

and what are you attempting to achieve?

#

more modern with jumping and freelook, or more classic

plucky needle
#

classic

vale gyro
#

to be fair it’d make slightly make more sense to use a port like PrBoom+ in that case but that isn’t what you’re asking so, I’ll attempt to give a rundown of what I can think of changing

  • Make Graphics Backend to the Software renderer
  • Turn off all advanced movement (freelook, crouching, jumping)
  • If you move forward and backwards for some reason when moving the mouse up and down, turn the vertical sens all the way down
  • Maybe turn on strict vanilla compatibility
#

all I can think of without actually going into the settings and changing stuff

#

I don’t really use GZDoom so I don’t know it’s settings as well as something like Woof or Crispy Doom

vale gyro
#

what I personally do as I don’t have uncapped framerates on with other ports I use

#

I forgot something important

#

turn off all texture filtering

hexed escarp
#

texture filtering doesnt work on software rendering so it doesnt matter

plucky needle
#

i dont find graphique backend

hexed escarp
plucky needle
#

regular

hexed escarp
#

you should try woof instead of gzdoom

#

it will give you a classic feel without having to change any settings

#

and is compatible with most maps unless they were made specifically for gz, which is a minority

vale gyro
# vale gyro oh

I use GZ with OpenGL (or Vulkan I can’t remember) so I have filtering off

plucky needle
hexed escarp
#

why not?

plucky needle
#

cause its a crack

hexed escarp
#

no its not

#

it does not come with the game files

plucky needle
#

my game is

hexed escarp
#

oh

#

that shouldnt make a difference

plucky needle
#

it came with already gzdoom installed

hexed escarp
#

you should still have the wad file no matter how you got the game

#

ah, well just go into the gzdoom folder, and copy the file called doom2.wad or doom.wad into the woof folder

plucky needle
#

yeah got it the wad

#

why doom 2

hexed escarp
#

whichever you have

plucky needle
#

its the first

hexed escarp
#

i didnt know which one you were playing

#

so yeah then just get doom.wad

vale gyro
#

I do suggest getting Doom 2 at some point as most maps require it

hexed escarp
#

^

plucky needle
#

i install woof and after ?

hexed escarp
#

you dont really need to install it

#

you can kinda just download it, and run the file in the folder

vale gyro
#

he probably used install as a general term for downloading a game like I do sometimes

hexed escarp
#

just make sure to copy doom.wad from gzdoom into the woof folder

vale gyro
#

no way I just confused Woof with install

hexed escarp
#

lmao

plucky needle
#

it seemed more fluid to just run the default gzdoom

#

so i keep that

vale gyro
#

if you’re talking about actually playing it

#

Woof by default runs at 35 FPS iirc

hexed escarp
#

you can change that in the settings

hexed escarp
#

but by default it runs at a lower resolution

vale gyro
#

oh

#

its been a while since I had to make a config from scratch with Woof so I’m used to it running at 35FPS

hexed escarp
#

you can change that by moving the resolution scale slider in the general settings menu all the way to the right

hexed escarp
#

on a side note, the new woof settings menu that they added in the newest version is super pog

#

its way nicer to navigate than any other source port

plucky needle
#

why my game is small

hexed escarp
#

is full screen on?

plucky needle
#

yes

vale gyro
#

turn on widescreen

#

if it isn’t already on, that is

hexed escarp
#

much less mazy than gzdooms settings menu

vale gyro
hexed escarp
#

also with this settings menu it has categorized tabs in each section

#

so you dont have to do a million page downs to get to what you want

vale gyro
#

wait

#

I have that, then

hexed escarp
vale gyro
#

Yeah

hexed escarp
#

ah nice

vale gyro
#

I think I’m on 14.1

#

I’ve had no reasons to update to 14.3, really

#

and 14.0 was causing me issues for some reason

hexed escarp
#

ah yeah

#

the menu was added in 14.0, but i was using an older version for a while

vale gyro
#

but those issues happened when I was doing my run with Tangerine Nightmare

hexed escarp
#

this is my favorite menu in any port i think

vale gyro
#

and I couldn’t roll back because my saves would break

#

my game’s turn resolution was like in the negatives or something

hexed escarp
#

ah rip

vale gyro
#

yeah

#

I wasn’t even recording a demo

#

I’ve encountered that issue with GZDoom once

#

but almost consistently with Woof 14.0

#

14.1 just fixed it somehow

#

got no clue what change fixed it

plucky needle
#

hey can someone help me find all the secret ?

#

and all the item

vale gyro
#

you could open up a map editor and check yourself

plucky needle
#

nah

vale gyro
#

but best thing you can do is backtrack, try to open up walls, etc.

plucky needle
#

that cheating

sick mist
#

Everything u wont find urself would be cheating by your logic

plucky needle
#

no

#

im thinking like people was doing when the game comes out

#

1thing that he said i defined as cheating

#

the second not cheating

vale gyro
#

so

#

opening up a map editor (which was more than possible back then) is cheating. But someone telling you exactly where something is (which gives the exact same result) isn’t?

plucky needle
#

didn't know that was posible but yeah

#

think like two guy enjoying the game

#

and talking where to find all the secret

#

at school

vale gyro
#

The Doom Wiki (not the Fandom one) does give written locations of secrets

plucky needle
#

ok

vale gyro
#

for even community-made maps

#

although, they’re not hidden behind anything so you see the description of whats in each secret and where it is

#

also, for items

#

I think they’re usually just the items you can keep picking up (like armor and health bonuses)

#

I can’t tell you what exactly counts towards the item percentage as I usually don’t go for 100% runs at all

plucky needle
#

ok

finite crag
#

hi, i have a question

#

to play a co-op game with friends with mods do I need to use Zandronum or similar?

#

A random guy just told me I can do it straight from GZDOOM

vale gyro
#

but I can't remember if GZDoom even supports that

#

but the problem with P2P is that everyone's ping is the highest ping someone has

finite crag
hexed escarp
finite crag
#

In the same way, I have been told that the best option is Zandronum

hexed escarp
#

i would recommend zandronum or odamex

#

i personally can vouch for odamex as i have used it before
