Demons don't seem to have souls, like Koosha says. In Doom, souls don't seem to be indicators for self-awareness as much as they are just something innate in most life-forms except for demons. This isn't because demons are, say, super evil or anything, but more because they are biologically predisposed to require souls.

This part is pretty unclear re: zombies having souls. Many pieces of zombie media, like Resident Evil and George Romero's films, dabble in explaining if zombies retain some semblance of humanity - here, we have no extended story sections involving zombies.
I personally do not believe zombies have souls in Doom. The Argent process of creating energy requires them in Nekravol, and we hear of their process re: leaving the bodies to meander. Originally, demons would be made through meandering zombies degrading into lifeforms like imps, but this practice stopped in the First Age. I suspect they take people's souls now (where their bodies will manifest in Hell) and leave the corpse to zombify and roam Earth.

In regards to the Slayer, canonically the Praetor Suit does sap Argent Energy from demons upon death, but please note that this doesn't make him invincible. The Slayer is very much able to die and is pretty close to it throughout the series; he just evades it through battle.
The Praetor Suit is Argenta in origin. Argenta tech runs off of unfiltered Wraith energy and/or Hell's Essence. The Slayer is essentially sapping the soul energy from demons as he kills them and uses this against him. While this is used to explain the gameplay convention of gaining health through glory kills, it's unclear if canonically the sapping of Argent grants him additional strength, or stamina.

In regards to Argent, it's important to remember that the term Argent Energy does not refer to any one substance.

Rather, it is a colloquial term referring to several substances derived from Wraith Energy.

Throughout the series, we see three separate forms of Argent Energy. Simplified:
UAC Argent = Wraith Energy + Filtration + Purification
Hell Argent = Wraith Energy + Hell's Essence
ARC Argent = Wraith Energy + Synthesis

The first we see in 2016, the second in Nekravol, the third in ARC tech.

This means the Argent we see in 2016 does not have human souls in it.

Probably not correct, as the Wraiths seem more likely to instead tie into a future eldritch plotline, but I wish it were the case because I think it would make a lot of sense.

They bio-engineered Cacodemons to turn into makeshift Mancubi in Doom 2016, for example.

Fun fact: You can find the organic bottom halves of Doom 3's Pinkies in Hell.

Doom 3 Pinkies have a name - they're a breed called Hellhounds. Said Hellhounds have their back halves chopped off and replaced with mechanical legs.

Presumably so they can keep the legmeat while still keeping the animal alive for combat.

Similarly re: the name thing, Pinkies don't have a Hell name themselves. The demons call them The Nameless.

The Codex refers to Blood Maykrs as "among the demons" now, which is interesting because Blood Maykrs are to the Maykrs what zombies are to us.

I think zombies can be considered demons, eventually, after a lot of time has passed.
